LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Rail by reheated 2020-10-05T19:59:10Z

Aha! got to 18 where I was quickly decimated by a line of arrow enemies as large as the screen. This might be one of my favorites, the quick two layered gameplay is really addicting. The situations I enjoyed the most where when at the start of the level you set the correct path before the enemies get there and you just have to survive the incoming onslaught while also avoiding the switches. Overall extremely fun and polished game!

I liked the game! Being able to influence the movement of the ball by moving the mouse and jumping into specific points makes for a really cool mechanic. The hitbox of the spiders wasn't immediately clear to me, but otherwise all the other dangers felt pretty fair!

Dungeon Simulator by Yeti Kid 2020-10-05T20:57:44Z

Nice Game! I like the theme of dungeon, and the heroes having names gives them some personality even if they have different HPs. I was able to have a good dungeon with fireballs, but I wasn't able to make either the spikes or the monster work, as the enemies hp was too much for them at the begging. Overall cool game which could be more fun with some tweaking.

The Wizard's Trip by p-r 2020-10-05T23:24:29Z

Oh I got it! Basically the right part of the screen is the guide, while the left part is the map of the game. The number on the square you are right now (marked with purple) determines how many squares you can travel so you can hover every square X(purple number) tiles away from you. The diagonals above a square determine what's on that square, while the diagonals below are used in some squares (you will see them on the formulas for damage, healing, gold,

Once you get it the game is actually pretty fun, I believe just highlighting the squares you can travel to would be helpful in making the game easier to understand! while playing I was using the guide to calculate a couple steps away which was fun!

Wow really digging the style of the game, the art is really nice and the sound fits perfectly! It took me a while to realize I had to connect perfectly the two sides of the loop to start the game. I really loved some of the ideas of the later levels such as the one with the loop at the top and the bottom having to open the doors for the other, but not crush them, but in my opinion the game is a bit too hard for me, as these cool levels were hidden after some really tight door avoidance, and joining two loops with cargo. Overall it is a really nice entry which explores its mechanics really well while looking really stylish.

The Loop by Jin9310 2020-10-05T11:32:47Z

Really nice game! Loved the pixel art effects like the hits and especially on the hearts! As well as how closely it sticked to the interpretation of the theme! If I had to point something it would be that the change in tempo can sometimes catch you off guard and that the difference in quality between the pixel art and the rest can be a little jarring. But overall it is a really great game!

Really digging the art style! The gameplay itself is simple, but you still have some nice twists on normal bullet shooters such as shooting at the enemies in the back, and having to dodge both sides at once. But it is through the consistently amazing art that the game ends up giving a really nice feel!

Chronic Curse by Diego Escalante 2020-10-05T21:23:41Z

Really good game! The mechanic was really cool, and it had some great puzzles that explored some of it's possibilities. I also feel that this was really polished and had a great deal of work into making the game easy to understand, such as the color coding on things that carry from loop to loop. The game also felt juicy and polished so overall the game was very enjoyable.

Loopsed In Space by Todd Mitchell 2020-10-05T15:43:02Z

Apphole sounds like a wonderful place, I want in on it! The ads and the whole IAP parodying was fun. The best part about the gameplay was when a boulder and a coin spawn close and you have to touch one while avoiding the other.

Fruits of Insight by JakobTheQuizGuy 2020-10-05T12:40:45Z

The seeker and their attack animation look really good! I did found the sections between puzzles a little too long but overall loved the aesthetic and the whole mood the game had!

Altered Nexus by clemonades 2020-10-05T17:07:21Z

That was refreshing! Really clean game all together, I was pleasantly surprised with the level design, that felt like it truly was teaching me the systems without any kind of tutorial, for example in the level you had to drop down. I also appreciated the messages that kept appearing through the game and the one in the end!

Break the Cycle by Nate Wert 2020-10-05T13:17:00Z

I liked the whole idea of breaking the cycle! The second type of spikes on the last generations was a little hard to understand, but the bits of text in every generation and the mutations were a really nice incentive to keep going!

Grind by ChickenCastle 2020-10-05T13:36:29Z

Spent the day on the clock by munching on their fridge and getting into the flow of watering plants 10/10. Really liked the idea for the game! The whole game felt extremely clean and polished.

while(true) by Noah Kuhn 2020-10-05T20:22:27Z

Woow, I really loved the aesthetic, all the art mixed really well together to give an old code feeling. About the gameplay itself it may have been more fun if the enemies were a little more of a danger, even on later levels when the algorithm put 3 or 4 move enemies in a loop they just stayed where they spawned dancing around and growing in number, I only lost when the way to one spawner become absolutely clogged with enemies. I can see that a lot of thought went into making the levels failsafe, such as the resource spawners always being far away from the enemy spawner, and I also liked a lot the idea, being able to read the next code and prepare for the danger at the cost of having to stay more in your current loop is an interesting mechanic.

Simplest Dungeon Grinding Simulator by unknown32767 2020-10-05T13:47:49Z

Nice game! I'm a sucker for bullet hells so this felt right. As people already said with some more time to finish the level + the systems it would have been great. But despite that it was still fun as it is and I enjoyed the puzzle part of discovering the way to break the loop.

Thank you for the feedback everyone! I really appreciate you going out of your way to point what failed too.

@reheated Thank you for not only playing the game but replaying it too! About that yes, an accuracy tracker that changed the last lines was planned for, but I ran out of time before I could debug it so I just scrapped it. !> the idea was for the menu on the logo to update after the game to show your exact accuracy too

1077 clicks later I can say I Enjoyed the game! Having two currencies interact and losing all the built resources every era gave it a distinct feeling, I also liked the tidbits of info that kept appearing on the bottom right although I enjoyed the ones on the earlier eras more.
