Love the idea! I think there's a lot of potential for the 'dungeon builder' mechanic. I think it'd be interesting if you continue on with the idea. Nice work!

Nice little game, although loose on the theme. Great graphics!
The idea of this is really cool, i think it could be developed into something really fun!
I had some trouble playing the game, the arrows made me move in the browser at the same time. But the arts and music were good. Controls were a bit confusing.
@symnel The arrows moving the browser is something I didn't notice to upload haha! If people can disable arrow keys controlling the scroll bar that would be great haha! I uploaded the GIF below to give people more of an idea of how to play haha
A nice take on the classic tower defense game - though I was't a fan of the controls, the camera being tied to the mouse meant I would misplace some turrets and the speed to cycle through the towers was a little on the slow side, and because it was tied to the up and down arrow keys I felt it was more designed for a left handed play style?
That being said, I liked the art style and It kept me invested for several rounds - though I could never see a use for the skeletons or bats - Turrets seemed like the pro strat move
Good work on the Jam!
It would be really cool if it scaled like a tower defense, with multiple heroes entering simultaneously, but for a 48 hour game jam you did an amazing job! Great work on the pathfinding too!
Nice Game! I like the theme of dungeon, and the heroes having names gives them some personality even if they have different HPs. I was able to have a good dungeon with fireballs, but I wasn't able to make either the spikes or the monster work, as the enemies hp was too much for them at the begging. Overall cool game which could be more fun with some tweaking.
@joellikespigs Thanks, I made the destroy return as much gold as you spent on objects to make sure misplaces were not costly to the player. I am right handed so the left handed play style made me laugh. The skeletons and bats took me ages to get working and took up a lot of time but I found how stupid they are funny so kept them ahaha
@blobo The original idea was going to be that but had to scale down, I wanted more heroes coming in with some specials on the heroes but didn't have time. Thank you though!
@caiclone Thank you, fine tuning was needed just time got in the way, thank you for playing! Would of loved to add more to it
I like the concept that is happening. It was a bit frustrating to use up and down arrow to switch because my browser window would scroll up and down as well, which would also cause the camera to move. If I could run this in full screen I think that would help out a lot or if the up/down controls were changed to keys that the browser isn't also interpreting as scroll up/down.
Gameplay-wise though, really cool thematic take on a dungeon-ish tower defence
@candlesan Thanks I have put the enable fullscreen on the Itch page now wo hopefully stops the up and down arrow keys issue haha
Great idea! The execution not so great. I had issues with placement (screen shake), and selecting the object I want to put down. The fact that the itch page has the same background as the game doesn't help (hard to see where the game frame is), nor that under the game theres a GIF of the game. But there is potential in the game!
✔️I really liked the art style of this game, it fit it very nicely. It's a shame you don't have voting on for visuals :(
✔️I also really like the idea, it is quite unique and a nice twist on a classic genre
➖The game was a bit tough, I feel like it could have been a bit easier, especially during the start
@matchamaze thanks for playing, I set up the page trying it to make it look good maybe should of tried it first. Full screen can be put on to avoid that issue and I made sure destroy gives you your money back for a misplace. I will try and remember that feedback for future games
@rngames i didn’t realise I opted out of those categories 😂 I have put them back on if you want to vote in them 😂 thanks for playing
Love the concept, and the aesthetics are really well done! Reminds a little of Boss Monster (the card game). It would be nice if it was faster to switch between items in build mode, though.
Nice execution on a tower defense game, nice visuals, good sound. My only problem was that it was quite difficult but I understand that balancing is tough during a jam. With some work there's a game here I would totally play.
I also think I found a bug where I got 2 fire towers for the price of 1 haha.
Cool game although it was a little difficult to play. However, I still was able to get through about 2 rounds. It was a little tough because the towers would try to shoot through the walls at the heroes and there wasn't enough starting cash to build up a good defense. I think had you maybe included a practice round or different difficulty settings that would help it be more accessible (sorry if you did that and I missed it). However, the graphics were fun and the music while repetitive had a good theme to it. Good job and keep it up. Excited to see where you can take this with a few tweaks!
I enjoy tower defense, but there are some issues here. One, maybe it's just me, but for some reason the controls of the game also effected the web page ie. pressing up and down would scroll the page. Two, it's incredibly hard. I couldn't even beat the second round. Three, many aspects of the game don't seem to work properly. Like, if I click to buy a fire tower, it will by one for every frame that I'm holding the mouse button down, placing them on the same tile and draining my money very quickly. Then I'll start the round, and the towers just won't work! The hero will walk right by with no shots fired, or if it does shoot, it'll miss by miles. The visuals are very well done, though, so good job there.
I really enjoyed playing this. Visually the game was very appealing. Sfx were good, the premise of the game was simple yet effective and the game play was easy to understand.
That said there was one area that needed a little work. The camera scroll was too loose and floaty. At first it made playing the game very hard to do but making the game full screen helped a lot.
The only other small issue I had was that the ESC key was used to restart the game. It also just happens to be the button that exits fullscreen on itch.io
All in all this was a solid entry. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!
I like this concept a lot of you taking control of building the dungeon to protect against heroes. However, I wish there was a better tutorial or something in the game, because I couldn’t figure out how to place things that aren’t walls and the heroes would just walk right past them. I like the pixel art graphics and the general feel is pretty spooky. Nice job !
I like this idea! It's sort of like tower defense but where you're the bad guy/environment. That being said, the controls were a little wacky for me- I don't have a num pad, and when I use the arrow keys the browser moves. If I went to full screen it fixed the browser scrolling, but then when you went to restart it escaped out of full screen and I had to re-maximize it every play through. Also, the little towers seemed to function less predictably than I would expect? Maybe some sort of cooldown timer showing how long before they can shoot again would make it more clear? I loved the art- the palette, the sfx and music were great. Nicely done!
Loved the art, it looked good and fit the tone wll
A little difficult to play (I think because of the camera handling that made me misplace many elements) but very nice graphics and good idea.
The concept for this is really cool. I've always wanted to create my own dungeons and now I can haha! Nice work!
Really nice idea! The controls where a little tough but after I got use to them I had a really good time.
Nice game and ideas. I really enjoyed the game but sadly I have run into a lot of issue that was preventing me to continue. - The controls are hard to use but it's possible to work with. - I realized that, often, it was placing 2 or 3 objects at the same place. (especially walls) - Finally everytime after 3 or 4 hero. I was not able to continue because the hero suddenly decide to don't move from the start. ss+(2020-10-07+at+09.57.31).png
Really cool game, and surprisingly challenging! Took me a good like... 5 tries before I could consistently beat heroes. I saw a couple bugs: spawning one tower but it costs 2, the heroes sometimes stop right when they spawn and never move, but those were pretty minor. I know its outside the scope of a jam but it would be cool to have a creative mode where the player has infinite money and it just spawns heroes infinitely after. It would be cool to see the different layouts people would make if they had unlimited funds(maybe there'd have to be a limit on the different objects they can place though so its not all fireballs and freeze towers.) Nice job though!
@loig thanks for playing. This is the first time I have attempted a game like this. I have definitely learnt a lot from it. I made sure on anything the player destroyed after placing they got all the gold back so it was fair to the player.
@madbookstudios thanks! You can make dungeons all the time and maybe I will expand on this idea and you can make more complexed dungeons 🤔
@petturtle Thanks, it was the first time doing this and think I have learnt a lot about these types of games but glad you enjoyed it 😁
@kirthos I am glad you liked it. I’m sorry about the issues and made sure anything destroyed you got all the gold back so you wouldn’t be punished! The final bug you found is a surprise to me as I have had friends get to hero 11 and onwards so I would have to look into that.
@cdunham thanks for playing Cole. The time constraints made it hard especially with path finding. I wanted to add an unlimited money mode but ran out of time unfortunately. I am looking at remaking it and fully fleshing it out with all the ideas I had! I’m glad you enjoyed it and look forward to giving yours a go too! 😄
I love the concept! I think camera movement and controls are a little unconfortable, and I spent some time at the beggining until I discovered than I had to use only fire towers to pass level 1 xD I think is a little unbalanced: next enemies are a little random (some of then easier than the first one. But the game is funny and graphics works well. It's a nice entry once you become accustomed. Good job!
@neowedge Thanks, I am glad you liked it. Enemies are randomly generated but have kept some parameters they can be between. I think more time on fine tuning would of really helped haha!
I have just uploaded a bug fix for the overlapping btw.
Really nice aesthetic, and the concept is great. Turned it fullscreen so that the up and down keys weren't scrolling the browser :) The only thing I didn't like was the mouse being tied to the camera, made it a little tricky to place items. A deadzone would have been good, but thats only if I'm being picky! :)
This was great. Same issues as everybody regarding the control scheme, but I got past it. The best part is the variety of defenses you can place. Bats seem to suck, skeletons are pretty good, towers are meh, but man those spikes are deadly. And so cheap! I think I got to the 5th hero by basically just buying spikes. Really really cool concept. Nice job
Nice game! The graphics are right up my alley and the controls are a pleasure to use, could you check out my game when you can? :D
@a4x8e6 thanks for playing and liking it! I totally get you on the deadzone and if I remake it will definitely be something I add.
@nick-rafalski thanks for playing the game. I am glad you enjoyed the amount of defences you could employ. It’s always good hearing what people prefer.
@samdemaine thanks for playing and I am glad you liked it! I have already commented and rated your game! I loved it btw 😅
I use the like system on the comments as a way to remember which games I still need to play!
Neat concept. Controls took a while to grasp
Challenging but great art and sound!
I really like the concept, but felt like I just got lucky/unlucky. I tried 5 times, even setting up towers exactly like in your image, and these 8 hp heroes just run past getting hit by only one of the fireballs before destroying my poor eye -_-. Then one run I got lucky and they seemed to get stun-locked between two fire and two ice towers, and that went well until one got lucky and missed all of the ice balls and just took my eye out -_-. Made it through 13 heroes though until that happened!
Controls were really wonky, it kept moving right before I placed, and switching items seemed super laggy, so I had to memorize how many up arrow presses to push to get to the thing I wanted, which was annoying.
Graphics and sound were great, and I did have some fun =).
Nice game! :)
Enjoyed your game though it did take me a while to figure it out. It's a really cool idea and worth expanding on impo :) The art & music were really well done.
