Very cool! A nice take on the theme, and well made. Good job!
I'm a big fan of low poly! Love the style. Nice work.
I especially loved the "reviews" in the opening sequence. Seems like it was a fun game to make. Nice work!
Love the visuals here. It creates a nice 'game feel.' Good job!
Love the mood of this game. Great use of lighting. Nice work!
Nice work! The art style is entertaining.
Love the idea! I think there's a lot of potential for the 'dungeon builder' mechanic. I think it'd be interesting if you continue on with the idea. Nice work!
Awesome work! I definitely agree with the recommendations to continue this after the jam and expand on it.
I love the color palette of this. Nice job!
Great take on the theme, and I love the art style. Good job!
Great art style! You handled the pixel art really well. Nice work.
Nice work! The mood is pretty entertaining. I think you did a good job with the audio too.
I agree on the creative use of art. Nice work! Congratulations on completing the compo.
Nice work! The artwork is great, and I think it's wise to make a story focused game when you have art talent like you do.
I love the visuals! The colors go really well together, and it's nice and simple palette. Well done!
Very cool idea. I love to see these "rewind & replay" style games. Nice work!
Love the environment and mood. Nice work!
Nice ambience from this game. Love it! Nice work.
Great work. I enjoyed running to the computer to see what the next addition was.
A couple criticisms:
1. An early upgrade to player speed would be nice, as running all around was a bit slow. 2. A way to modify the computer's code or rearrange things would be awesome. It's what I expected it would be, but I understand the time crunch.
Thanks for the game!
Awesome! Love the art style. Congratulations on finishing a compo game!
Having the eyes look in the direction you're moving was a very nice touch. Good job!
Amazing art and lighting.
I hear you on not having time to complete enough features in the short time span. It's certainly a time crunch. Congratulations on finishing.
Great job!
Awesome. I love the idea of multiple endings.
You say not artistically inclined, but I think you did a good job. The color palette is pretty good. Just by thinking about palette is a good step!
Nice work, stick with it.
Love the art style on this. Especially the death animation. Great job.
I love the graphics. The movement felt a bit clunky, and wasn't very responsive. It'd be nice to go diagonal and to stop faster.
Nice work!
Always nice to see a humorous entry. Good job!
Very cool! Good job completing LD47. I like your take on the theme.
Love the mirrored visuals in the background. Very atmospheric. Nice work!
Very hectic! A nice, fun game. Good job!
Nice work! I like where you took the theme.
One thought for advice, look into some recommended color palettes, as the colors in the game are pretty dark and run together.
Keep it up!
The sounds are nice. Very neat idea doing the notes. Good job.
Love the mood on this one, as others have also said. The ending got a good laugh out of me too. Nice work!
Very cool! The visuals are really pleasant, and you did a great job applying the theme.
Top notch on the art and sound here. Great job on that. Pretty hectic at the end!
I'm also a fan of how responsive the movement feels. It's a nice amount of acceleration and I feel in control, which is really important in this style of game.
Nice work!
Agreed on aesthetic, it's quite pleasant. I think the colors go really well together which really helps. Nice work!
Thanks @michael-parrish ! It was pretty tough to balance the enemy spawns. Sometimes it was way too easy, and sometimes it was way too difficult. I tried to find a decent middle ground and ramp rate, but I agree it's a bit difficult.
I think me playing it so often, I ended up getting better at it, which made me tune the difficulty up higher than needed.
Thanks for the feedback!
@kovalok I did have one other report of the game running at a crazy speed. I haven't been able to reproduce that or determine why it's happening on some computers.
@rhoff95 The WebGL build works, but there's no audio. If I can figure out how to fix that, I'd like to upload the WebGL port.
Thanks everybody for trying the game.
Thanks everybody for the feedback!
@milestone-games and @nexade , I have uploaded a new zip for the MacOS version. Hopefully it works for you now. It is on itch at https://dharby.itch.io/hudson.
Note that the Mac version has a graphical glitch where the border outside of the game canvas is flashing red. It's pretty weird, but the game seems to run on Mac besides that.
Thanks again all!
@rhoff95 and @kp-gamedev I have just published a WebGL version! Audio now works.
Side-note: Using the latest Unity beta for a game jam is risky... The beta has a bug with WebGL audio! Details here: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/audio-no-longer-plays-in-build
Thanks all.
@rhoff95 Thanks for the feedback! I completely agree. I originally wanted the health bar crack and 'leak' health, and you'd need to repair it. I couldn't fit that into the 48 hour compo though. :(
There are skill thief bugs that will steal the skill gems from your upgrade slots. That was my attempt at having more of the HUD be interactable.
Hopefully with more time I can implement some of these! Thanks for trying the game and providing thoughtful feedback.
P.S. I really enjoyed your submission as well! I'll put my feedback on it.
@rhoff95 I'm considering doing a rebuild of the game using Godot. This version was built with Unity. I want to learn Godot and it seems good to do a side-by-side project comparison.
So I'll still be working on this a bit more, maybe I'll take that opportunity to try out some additional mechanics. :)
Thanks @cursedsoldier ! Glad you managed to beat it. I tried to ramp the difficulty so that your first round or two are pretty tough, but as you learn the mechanics a bit, you get closer to beating it. It's all about sacrificing a bit of health on a push to the skill upgrade! Nice work on the win.
@wormius I'm glad you like the music. It was procedurally generated!
@tamail Thanks for the feedback! I wish I had more time to put a tutorial in-game, but 48 hours was a bit tight. I did add some information to the game's description on the ldjam page to explain a bit.
In short:
- Defend your health bar and skill bar from enemies attacking it. - Keep enemies under control and try not to get overwhelmed. - Collect gems as they drop. Pick them up with F, bring them to your upgrade bar in the bottom left, and press F to place them into an upgrade slot. - Collect all 3 upgrades for a chance to escape through the door.
Hope it helps!
@wegpast Thank you!
The theme unfortunately didn't show through as I hoped it would, largely due to the time constraints... The closest I got to it was being stuck in a loop of enemy waves spawning, until you can get to the key to escape and break the loop.
But I understand that doesn't come anywhere near the theme level of many other entries. Hopefully my next jam I can nail the theme a bit better!
I seemed to have run out of battery with not enough scrap to do anything about it. Fun game though! Congratulations on finishing the project, it's a lot of work.
Looks great! I think the tiling on some of the background could be toned down a bit as it's a bit high contrast and busy, but I like the color palette and general art direction. Great work!
Well done! I like that the controls don't move the planet (player) directly up or down, but at a bit of an angle. It adds a nice twist.
I think the background could maybe use some fading so it's not too busy, but looks good overall.
Great work!
I'm a big fan of stealth-based games. Glad to see an entry like this. Nice work!
Very cool. I like to see point and click games being made. Sometimes the hitbox on the clicks was a little weird though.
Awesome work!
Agreed with everybody about mood. Very cool ambience. Nice work!
Awesome! I love the art style on this. Nice work.
Nice work! Agreed with the others on the time pressure. It creates a nice game feel. I think the visuals are pretty great too.
I can't understand the first game. I don't see any explanation anywhere. Maybe add that to the Ludum Dare project page?
Love the idea of a web game. Not sure clicker is the most fun category. Nice work though!
Also expecting source code! If this does get open sourced and it was created by compo rules, then congratulations on finishing the project.
Great idea. I like your interpretation of the theme.
Very entertaining. The art style is nice. Good job!
Agreed with everybody here about the art. Great job!
