Neat game! Loved the music and mood for the game, would be nice if the game was a bit more forgiving though, but overall fun little game!

The graphics and music are awesome. And moving to the beat felt really satisfying!

I love the music, and the gameplay reminds me a little bit of Crypt of the NecroDancer! I found it a bit tricky when the walls caved in, there's not much time or beats left to react before the walls get you, while the other ships were much easier to avoid. Overall, this is a really cool game, and the artwork is smooth! (those death frames look amazing) Great work!

Nice work. I like the screen effect when things rewind.

I didn't have the necessary coordenation to really handle the game, but it feels like a lot of work was put into it. The idea is very cool, and if you all intend on continuing the project in the future, I can see it working like a rythm game with some impossible levels like osu! if you change some things. Music was good, graphics as well, I just found the "great" and "miss" mechanic kind of flawed (when you had to move to get a "great" wasn't really indicated by game design, and it didn't seem to be the white bars because you don't get a great when ou move while passing through them, and mainly, the game doesn't incentivize you to move a lot, there is basically no penalty for not moving, you could make it so that you have to move every time or something to make it more exciting), but with some more work, it could turn into something that multiplies score and makes the visuals go wild and everything go fast if you get it right multiple times.

Cool game! I liked the music! And awesome effect of music distortion (when u fail to hit the rhythm). We were thinking about similar effect in our game, but we ran out of time %)

A cool game. Easy concept to understand, and fun to try out different approaches. There doesn't seem to be a penalty for staying still though, which feels like a missed opportunity for additional challenge. It would also be nice if there was always a sequence of possible moves to stay moving on every beat. There is at least one moment where you end up in the middle of three lanes with another ship on either side, just waiting to pass by.

A nice concept, with a good level of polish in the art and sound. The music is upbeat and funky, adding to the enjoyment of the game.

@blobo We took a lot of initial inspiration from Necrodancer! But it drifted over time because of how the mechanics unfolded.

@rafit345 We actually had it to where you had to move on the beat initially... but it was way too hard, so we just rewarded you for moving on the beat, instead of forcing it. The hint for when to move was intended to be shown by the little white bars moving in from the sides at the bottom.

@samuel-hollywood-summers We had hoped to get it to where you had to play a little closer to the beat, but we ran into some issues with level design and how the other racers/ships spawned in, and we never got it to where we wanted.

Thanks all for playing!

Nice idea, and the music works well.

My main criticism would be the placement of the other ships doesn't encourage dodging in time to the music, instead you kind of end up sitting still while you pass then moving to the beat again.

Fun idea though, good job!

i like the rewind effect, but not because i've seen it a bit too often :D but why do all the other pilots always have to fly so slow

somogy 2020-10-10 19:28

Game very well done, I liked the fun provided, good job!

Rewind effect is well done, but pattern of movement is hard to understand. Anyway, best of luck!

Love the music. The art looks nice. The idea is original and fun. At first I was just looking at the bottom of the screen and quickly glancing at the ship just trying to hit the button at the right time. After a few tries I was able to play just by moving to the beat. I noticed the camera does a subtle effect every beat. I like it. I also like how the music gets kind of warped when you miss. Great job.

Groovy music! Seems there's a bit of a sync issue playing in firefox, though. I thought it was just me being terrible, but I tried Opera, and I was able to move back and forth with the beat of the music instead of watching the lines. Not sure why it's different. I personally think it would be more fun if the ship moved back and forth faster and there were more ships to dodge. As it stands sometimes you have to wait a good bit passing between 2 ships or a ship and a wall, kind of killing the flow. Solid entry, though!

kromeboy 2020-10-18 09:31

Great game and awesome music. Some parts in the second level are a bit unforgiving, while the third level is very easy.

Great entry!

Nice one!

Adding rhythmic controls to any gameplay is always funny. I like how you didn't make it punitive, with only an impact on the score.

There are a few elements that don't help you keep rhythm : the lines between lanes feel like they could come in rhythm but they don't, and the music felt like it has not enough strong elements on the beat and a few too many outside it (the crunchy square wave snare on the first music for example).

Great job and thanks for the game, I had fun 💕

superjai 2020-10-23 01:32

Really addictive, nice job! I really like the rythym concept mixed with the road rage that comes with people not getting out of my way. Haha
