LD38 — A Small World

Planetary Escape by w1n5t0n 2017-05-13T02:04:35Z

This game is deceptively hard. I don't think I got past 5 points. I killed myself 90% of the time haha. I like the wrap around (adds to the difficulty... what with lasers and all). I feel the controls could have been done a little differently, thought I don't have a good suggestion of how to change them. Nice work on a clean game!

Quantum World by Paul Nadan 2017-05-13T02:18:27Z

First thing I want to throw out there: It would be awesome if the little text blurbs at the start of each level either stayed there a lot longer, OR stayed there until the player pushes a button. I had to restart multiple times because I was trying to re-read the text to understand what it was saying.

BUT! This is a cool idea for a puzzling mechanic. A bit hard to grasp at first (it seems like the first level is perhaps a little overcomplicated for someone unfamiliar to the mechanic. Namely you have 3 colored doors when only two are required), but once I started understanding the mechanic, it started growing on me. Cool idea, though. I could see this being expanded into a very fun and challenging game.

I'd love it if you gave ours a try :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/belaruse-panic

LD39 — Running out of Power

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-04T00:28:17Z

This game is amazing (especially for 48 hours). I'm a huge fan of the minimalist pixel art style, and you captured it really well. Particle effects are a super nice touch.

Personally, I felt the background was a little too distracting and frequently found myself not seeing enemy projectiles because they are lost in the stars zooming by. I also somehow glitched it to where no enemies spawned in the first wave. I just sailed through space until I got to the first boss -- then it seemed to back to normal.

Great job, though!

Pylon Defense by Doc ill 2017-08-04T00:07:04Z

At first, I expected the clicking to be easy and just to have felt forced into the theme. But then (around wave 3) I realized it was actually very involved. If TD's weren't already hard enough to build things in the right place. :D It feels pretty good, even with just one tower. If you expanded this to include multiple tower types and multiple enemy types, I could see myself playing this for longer than I'd like to.

Only complaint is that it would be nice if clicking to build and clicking to recharge things weren't done exactly the same way. Multiple times I'd overshoot just slightly in a tight situation and build something next to the tower I was trying to recharge. Minor issue, but still messed me up a couple times.

Fall of Raphael by fangzhangmnm 2017-08-04T00:19:10Z

I didn't expect the mechanic to be very fun at first, but you proved me wrong! The theme is very entertaining. Surprising amount of polish in this. Nice work!

Stoked by pitpony 2017-08-03T03:13:19Z

First off, thanks for playing our game!

Your art style fits the sort of point-and-click feel of your game very well. The art is super clean and polished. From a gameplay perspective, it is obviously simple, which works. Thought I feel the small rocks could play a bigger role in the game - like punish the player for putting them into the flame, maybe? I was very easily able to keep the play field clean by just throwing all the rocks into the flame with no reason not to. Overall, well done!

POW by ProdigalSon 2017-08-04T00:43:16Z

I'm surprised at the variety of puzzles you were able to make with this mechanic. This is probably one of my favorite uses of the theme I've played so far. Feels very polished and clean in almost all regards.

LD42 — Running out of space

The Dome by Lintfordpickle 2018-08-19T02:20:49Z

This is actually very similar to a game we did for a previous LD. I really like your mini-map (something I've always wanted to do in a game, but never have found the right time). I would have liked to see what you did with audio. I also wish the car straightened out a little quicker as I found it extremely difficult to get going in a straight line down a road.

I did like how active your city felt. I wasn't sure if the police would actually chase me after I got stars for smashing pedestrians.

I like the skid marks you put behid the tires, how did you go about doing that? I tried doing the same thing in a different game, but never quite got them looking how I wanted.

SpaceSorter by Major_Sauce 2018-08-15T23:20:02Z

For future games, you should upload a zip with all necessary files included. Having multiple download links is confusing (I did eventually notice the readme and got it working).

This game is interesting, and I can tell that the clunky controls are part of the game -- but I think you went too far to the side of 'intentionally clunky'. I spent almost all of my money on rotation upgrades because I was trying to get gain some control over my ship. I think tighter controls paired with a faster cargo pace would make this game feel much more enticing to players. Like other users, I also was unable to understand how the magnet worked.

The art is very suiting, and there is definitely some potential for some fun with the mechanics you have set up. Nice entry, overall.

Get Comfortable by mcccclean 2018-08-14T04:44:15Z

This is quite charming. I didn't quite realize it was a cooperative effort at first... I was just trying to cut off the other sleeper and keep as much space as I could for myself. I haven't managed to get over 200 yet.

Passengers Tetris by Gao Ming 2018-08-15T23:17:37Z

I got very confused at first when I had 3 heads lined up (built a couple 3x4's) and nothing popped. It took me a minute to realize that the flash was what triggered the people to explode.

This is a very nice interpretation of the tetris style of game. Putting the game into 3 dimensions adds some interesting situations. Nice job on a clean game that feels polished and very cohesive.

Bath Time by DDRKirbyISQ 2018-08-17T05:00:39Z

The atmosphere in this game feels very zen (largely thanks to the music), but the gameplay ramps up crazy quick. I agree with others that a mouse is harder to enjoy this game than a touch screen would (at least it feels that way), but it's very charming. Impressively polished feel.

Brightly-Wrapped Boxes by incobalt 2018-08-16T01:17:36Z

I had some unexpected behavior when picking up gifts from far away (It looks like they collide with stuff as they warp to your hands). But it's a cleanly executed game with an interesting concept behind it. I'd be curious to see what a multiplayer version of this felt like.

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-08-14T06:20:47Z

Well, that was different, can't lie about that. I did manage to beat it. It definitely feels like a momentum based game once you figure out what you're going for. An interesting interpretation of the theme. Nice work!

Eventful Horizon by bitdecay 2018-08-14T17:21:07Z

@harark We used the Unity Tilemap plugin along with some of the built-in physics. It wasn't properly culling the internal edges between tiles and we didn't have enough time to figure out how to fix it. You're right, though, it does seem to sort itself out -- so the fact that it's not game-breaking lead us to spend our time on other things.

@josehzz We recorded video of ourselves and used a technique called Rotoscoping to animate it! It is fairly tedious, but it leads to very 'real' looking animations.

The idea of adding a compass came up too late into the jam for us to put it in, but we had considered it. If we had another day to work on the game, that and a quick controls tutorial would be first on the list of things to add.

Eventful Horizon by bitdecay 2018-08-16T02:39:43Z

@echo-team thanks for checking it out! If you don't want to play desktop games, check out the YouTube playthrough we uploaded.

@ryanjavanshir It's a technique called rotoscoping. A bit tedious, but leads to some really cool animations.

Eventful Horizon by bitdecay 2018-08-16T04:23:33Z

@echo-team Yup! All three of the intro clips were originally videos of me taken on a phone. Our artist @nandemoguy then trimmed them down and rotoscoped and tweaked them just a bit to get them to look the way we wanted.

Eventful Horizon by bitdecay 2018-08-18T19:35:27Z

@seizethedia Yeah, a checkpoint was next on our list of things, pretty much -- but we ran out of time and we had to drop it to make the deadline.

Short Fuse Saloon by souperstrawer 2018-08-14T17:05:58Z

The atmosphere in this game is great! I really like that you actually have someone on the piano. This game is quite hard, though -- especially when patrons go upstairs. I tried multiple times and couldn't make it past 2 minutes (according to the game over screen). The fighting animations caught me off-guard and gave me a good laugh.

All the dirty glasses/trays laying around was entertaining. I do wish I could have carried around extra drinks or filled up a tray and set it out on the counter for a quicker 'reload'.

BLOCKADE by PixelJerry 2018-08-15T23:42:38Z

This game definitely hits some nostalgic notes for me. It has hints of Mr. Driller and Lumines (at least to me). I really dig the subtle things like the song pop-ups and stuff.

I think you have almost a little too much control over the character. The move speed is very high, and it causes the controls to feel a little sloppy. It's also a little strange that I can stand halfway off of a block and get blocks to spawn in a different column than the one I'm colliding with. I also wish there was a bonus for a full clear ;)

But this game has a lot of potential. It captures a lot of the charm of the puzzle games I love playing. Nice work!

Box Beatdown by guin36 2018-08-14T16:56:08Z

I like this game a lot. The music is reminiscent of old beat em ups, the controls work well for how the mechanics are laid out. Nice work on adding a short and thorough tutorial to the beginning (Something I wish we had made time to do in our game for this jam)

I wasn't able to beat the game, though. I kept getting up to the third phase, and couldn't help but get git all the way back down to zero progress. Great Job!

Overflow by antoined73 2018-08-20T00:13:12Z

Mechanics are deeper than I expected -- there's some decent room for puzzles in there. I found the introduction of new mechanics executed well, also.

I think the chime for finishing a level could have faded out a little quicker, but that's a pretty minor complaint. Clean entry -- nice job!

Tight Space by Alex_LemminG 2018-08-11T07:04:10Z

This game is quite fun. I was able to get over 1500 points... thought it took me a good while to get past 5 or 6 blocks. Well done on a quick clean execution of this idea!

Storage Overflow by Andreas Roschal 2018-08-15T02:29:35Z

I played for quite a while. This game is oddly satisfying and therapeutic. I lied to myself at first pretending that I could keep things organized, but that fell apart immediately. Only thing I wish this game had was some goals to shoot for. Otherwise, the art, music, and mechanics all payed together very well.

Cryptographer by Firebelley 2018-08-18T20:21:53Z

I beat the game like 3 times, so that alone says something as to the idea you have here. It's an interesting way to associate a cost to movement in a platformer. There are some more interesting puzzles in there than I expected. I also really like the way you introduced the bombs -- kudos to good game design there.

The music is good, but it doesn't really feel to me like it belongs here. That's really only comment I have. Though I guess there is one thing: It would be nice if your 'timed' mode let the player finish even if they don't hit the 2 minute mark. I want to know how fast I am at the game even if I can't do it in two minutes.

A great entry, overall!

Brick by Brick by JoshCanProgram 2018-08-18T05:26:55Z

This game is a cool play on the twin stick shooter style. The graphics feel like a middle ground between atari and gameboy. I definitely dig the minimalist color palette.

I wasn't sure why some shots would turn into wall tiles when I shot the enemies, though. Was there something triggering that to happen?

If you were to add a couple more enemy types, and maybe some weapon variety, this game has a lot of potential! Great entry, overall.

Forkin' It Up by Eric Smith 2018-08-19T05:41:07Z

This game is very fun. I played for much longer than I thought I would. It takes a while to lose, so I didn't feel a lot of pressure. I think once I had my fill, I let the game sit for ~4 minutes before I lost. I Was up somewhere around $100k.

The steering is a little weird. I feel like there should be a max amount of steering angle, because I found myself consistently spinning way further than I meant to. I think you have some kind of mouse acceleration in there, but not sure.

Overall, the game is very entertaining, and if there were some other interactions in there such as sub-goals and that kind of thing, I would put a lot of time into this.

There have been multiple games that focus on managing some kind of storage / sorting containers / shipping and receiving. Of all of the ones I've seen in that broad category, I've enjoyed this one the most.

Space Jack by neurobomber 2018-08-14T05:14:33Z

Nice game! A couple things that got me confused at first: The item icons over the peoples' heads being stretched into squares lead me to not realize I had matching items. The difficulty ramps up pretty quick, I feel it took me a while to clear level 2, even.

The mechanic is fun, though. I love inventory management (things like resident evil and the sorts)

Storage by Magix 2018-08-16T04:29:48Z

Solid execution on a simple game. I feel it would have been better played on a phone, for sure. I ran into one little issue -- looks like you are only checking if the mouse is down, rather than actual click. Makes it really easy to get a high score :) Nice work, though! Only thing I wish it had was some sound effects.

House of Dog by Pizzasgood 2018-08-16T01:51:08Z

Pixel doggos look great, though I had a hard time understanding how to progress in the game. I don't think I ever built a mine, as I wasn't sure what each tile cost to build. The idea seems to have potential, but I wasn't able to understand it enough to really see how it plays out.

ground_0 by Jamison 2018-08-14T06:03:53Z

That was a ton of fun! My ending was 12:06:08 with 50 deaths. Personally, I don't think the jump mechanic adds a whole lot to this game (I beat it without using jump once... I sorta got distracted by the terra-gun and forgot I had a jump)

I love the pixel terrain, reminds me of things like the sand playground and old games like Scorched Earth. The difficulty ramp feels very natural and the music/screen shake all fits together in a very nice package. Well done!

A Bar In Space by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2018-08-17T04:03:58Z

This game is very cohesive. Audio, art, and music all play together quite nicely. It gets pretty hectic quite quickly, but it was a blast even through getting completely dominated by all the aliens. Nice work!

Claustrophobic Typist by Willyb321 2018-08-19T04:06:00Z

On normal I was able to get 33 words, but I wasn't able to get much past 15 in Insane. All the questionably existent words really throw me for a loop when I try to type them because I have to spend so much time figuring out what order the letters are in.

This game is simple and pleasant. I think the difficulty ramps up too quickly (maybe I shouldn't try insane...), but that's not really a complaint. Nice work!

Park & Match by Carlos Giraldo 2018-08-18T19:52:54Z

I want to open up by saying I really enjoy this game. It's very similar to an old game I played a ton of on Ouya a few years back. The driving mechanics don't feel 'perfect', but they have a nice arcadey feel to them. The music and stuff works well. It might be fun to have some more sound effects for when you slam into other cars.

I didn't totally understand what the counter next to the timer was telling me. I have no idea how many cars I got through, but it had to be at least 30. A little refining of the driving physics and maybe some cleanup on what the numbers mean, and you would have something that a ton of people would enjoy. That said, this game is still great as it is for being done in one weekend, it just has a lot of potential past LD42, I feel. Nicely done!

Blast Off! by heidelbert 2018-08-14T06:35:16Z

An interesting take on the tower defense genre. I am not great at these styles of games and wasn't able to get to 300 fuel after ~6 attempts at it. The graphics are cohesive, and the mechanics play well.

I didn't have any sound for some reason (tried both web versions with no luck).

One small request is that the camera doesn't pan once you've selected a structure. It's very awkward feeling to have the menu move the opposite direction as you move you mouse over it to try to click the buttons.

But overall, a solid entry. I will be trying again tomorrow (almost 1am here) to see if I can prevent assimilation. Nice work!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

At least it's not death... by Ajayajayaj 2018-12-13T02:29:45Z

I think I beat the game... but I had the constant color change so what I think was supposed to be text at the top was just a bunch of weird squares.

A cool idea for a game, though. I feel that the random rotation was the hardest to deal with. Some of those really get in your head and mess with the gameplay.

Omelettes by stevenjmiller 2018-12-15T16:06:43Z

I got hung up on 16 and 21. Gunna keep trying this evening.

This game is clean and has a cool theme on top of it. The sound and art are simple, but clean and the puzzles generally feel pretty dang good, especially for a jam game -- so nice work with that! I've been wanting to do a puzzle game, but 80% of that is getting a mechanic that you can explore. It looks like you did that very well.

Sacrifical Flight by zgragselus 2018-12-12T05:34:20Z

I found it very hard to understand what was happening. Sometimes I would just plummet (faster than freefall, it seemed). Other times, it didn't appear that my fuel did anything. A little more information on what was happening would have been nice. The visuals were awesome, though!

dropboy by torcado 2018-12-12T04:41:47Z

I've been wanting to do a puzzle game for a ludum dare for ages... This is so clean and fits the theme perfectly. Not much to say other than great job! I spent way too long looking at the last puzzle before realizing that it was a little different from the rest... I was like... this is actually impossible.

Roustabout by bitdecay 2018-12-13T14:45:28Z

@justcamh Thanks for the honest feedback! Our plans for the theme tie-in started a little more ambitious, but as the gameplay developed, we had to simplify it and it became what you experienced. The pacing of the game changed up a few aspects of how we got to the final product due to time constraints, but that's the game jam experience in a nutshell :)

Wenk! 🐧 by ColinBellino 2018-12-11T01:01:10Z

This game is simple, and well executed. There were a couple minor things to complain about (render order is weird and bullets will be on top of you when they should be behind you), but nothing that impacted my enjoyment of the game. I got very "expected" sacrifices my first play-through, and was pleasantly surprised when I got to see the other sacrifices (won't say much as to avoid spoilers for those who read the comments before playing ;)

The game is clean and the art is crisp. Nice work! I would have loved to see another 5 levels and a boss if you had had the time to get to that point.

Out of Frequency by Blizary 2018-12-09T21:02:03Z

The mix of art styles in this game is an excellent touch. I'm a big fan of the pixel planets being done in 3D. Looks great. The music gets a little repetitive after a while, but it really does fit the game perfectly. I wasn't able to beat it, but I did have a good time exploring. Nice game!

Lucky Number 13 by Simon Rahnasto 2018-12-10T02:26:06Z

There are a few bugs (small things like being able to interact with things through walls), but they didn't break the game, and I only found them because I was actively seeing if it would work.

This game has a ton of narrative in it for a game jam game! Nice work creating a really good atmosphere. Mechanics are simple to understand and felt pretty good overall. I did feel the hitboxes for projectiles were a little harsh on the player (Got hit a lot when I felt I shouldn't have, at least from a beat 'em up perspective)

Overall a super clean game -- great work!

Let Me Eat You! by v1ru6 2018-12-09T20:43:31Z

I'm a fan of the lemmings mechanic of having a leader and a swarm that follows them. We actually started down a similar road and wanted to do something similar. I had a hard time finding the fun in how the enemies interacted with the player. I just picked a leader and right clicked in Alwaysfedland and just watched the leader and 3 or 4 of the Eatmes b-line it for the goal and win. I think with some variation in enemy behavior and something to force the player to have to make choices would allow this to turn into something solid.

Berrytales - Fracture Flight by Purrseus 2018-12-09T21:25:07Z

The art assets are awesome. I really like however you animated this (looks like bones or something). This game is actually quite difficult. I wasn't able to beat it, but I did get to enjoy all the atmosphere you created.

Impatient Patients by Ryfi 2018-12-12T00:14:42Z

I tried 5 times to do the surgery, and even cut where it told me to. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but I wasn't able to actually complete a surgery (unless that's the point, but I have a feeling it isn't). I tried moving organs to find stuff underneath and it triggered instant failure. I tried cutting things and same results. Seems like there was some fun hiding in there, I just wasn't able to get to it.

Backwards by MerpADer 2018-12-09T21:30:53Z

I wasn't on-board with the game at first, but playing a game in reverse like that is actually a pretty cool idea. The game gets harder based on how the player wants to play the game. Seems like it would be very difficult to balance it and allow the player to still be able to get through everything if they can sacrifice whatever they want.

I did run into some collision bugs where I fell through the floor, but otherwise, nice compo entry.

Throw them down by gankei 2018-12-14T05:14:03Z

The music fits this very well. The controls are easy, though I didn't realize what the point of the different passengers was at first. I just took 5 of the 1st person and went on my way. I would have loved some animation / movement from the birds, but they served their purpose. The mix of 2d and 3d assets didn't fit together all that well (nothing against either one of them on their own, the styles were just very different)

Nice entry, overall - especially for your first venture into 3D!

One Life Ain't Enough by oda 2018-12-09T21:07:21Z

There are some buggy interactions with the sides of the screen, but the mechanic is a great interpretation of the theme. I just wish this game was longer! Well done, I'd have happily played another 20 or 30 levels.

Fishy Rescue by Nelson William 2018-12-10T03:48:08Z

This is a great entry for this theme! I tried my best not to sacrifice anyone and ended up with a score of 338 (54 rescued at 22 sacrificed, I think). It's weird to play a "platformer" where you fly through it. Game is clean, and surprisingly bug-free for being done in a weekend.

The music got a bit repetitive, but the art and comedy of the game more than made up for it. Great game.

Bee Defence by antonhvid 2018-12-12T05:05:03Z

I thought I broke the game by just upgrading sting power... that didn't pan out as well as I wanted XD

Nice entry! We actually almost made a game about bees, as well -- but ultimately went with a different game because we couldn't figure out the mechanics we wanted.

I had some times when I'd click a bee and it would warp to the center, throwing off my aim, but it was manageable.

Old Ways by Esosek 2018-12-09T21:18:24Z

Took me a few tries to realize exactly what I had to do. Was able to beat it in 103 seconds. The assets are pretty nice, thought I got confused at first from the description saying "green people" and the only thing that was green was the main character. (his mohawk)

Nice work!

Welcome to the North Pole! by fre 2018-12-14T05:31:12Z

This is honestly one of the most unique games I've played so far. There's a lot of potential for this mechanic -- I think you only scratched the surface with this jam. And that's not to say I didn't enjoy it, because I really did. I managed to find 4 packages. It's really cool that you managed to put little secrets into a jam game.

The music got a little repetitive, but it did fit the game very well. The art for the snowball faces was spot-on for the atmosphere the game had. Awesome work!

LD44 — Your life is currency

The Tree of Bounty by gelisam 2019-05-03T23:34:40Z

I had a hell of a time trying to get a squirrel...

This game has a very zen feel. The rules are right in your face, and you just have to prune your way to perfection. I'm pretty bad at this game, but I did end up playing it for a while. I've seen a couple games now that have the music influenced by the state of the game. It's a really cool idea.

Great job! The little tutorial/challenges made learning the game very intuitive without being intrusive or overwhelming.

Grim & Tonic by Calzep 2019-05-11T04:21:19Z

I'm a fan of puzzle games in general. This one has a cool twist on the 'match 3' game type. I really dig it! Not sure if I was getting bad rng, or if this game is just unforgiving... I almost beat it my first attempt, then got worse and worse the more I tried to actually focus and beat it. I had a hell of a time getting past 50% after my first run (which I got somewhere up around 90%)

Great submission

NECROCAT 9000 by tweedle 2019-05-03T03:25:43Z

The art is extremely charming. I really like the hand-drawn feel. Game itself isn't anything extremely new, but I did like that the dash is multi-purposed. Being able to avoid damage at the same time I'm replenishing health is a good mixup on the genre. I think the summons could use a little balance / variety added to them.

Audio is very well done. The music is great and the sound effects fit pretty well -- though they did get a bit repetitive.

A solid entry, overall.

Tensilver [HTML] by seizethedia 2019-05-11T15:29:59Z

A very interesting game, here. I definitely got confused a couple times when I am pretty sure I gave the correct change and still didn't 'kill' the enemy. I got lost a few times when the enemy didn't die --- Am I supposed to just add change to make up the difference? Or am I supposed to remove all the change to get the correct number on screen? (Example being: enemy with 6 health. I put a 5 on board and hit space. Enemy now has '1' hp. Do I remove the 5 and put a 1 out, or do I just add 1 so that I have 6 on the board?)

I feel the UX could be cleaned up a bit so that the change goes away if you're wrong and you have to put new money on the board so that the money on the board is always equal to the HP of the enemy.

Graphics and art all fit together pretty nice. Only request would have been to have an easier way to get money out. Left and right clicking didn't feel the best, but it did work.

Nice entry!

Coin Clicker! by Cornflowerblue 2019-05-03T02:59:07Z

I will say... my finger hurts now. All of my FPS muscle memory got thrown right out the window with having to right-click to 'shoot' the enemies. I'd love to see the pace of the game slowed down a bit and make more use of moving the mouse in addition to just having to click (most of your time just spent with the mouse in the middle of the screen). I made it to about 100 seconds, but my hand couldn't keep up after that.

The art looks very crisp, and the music sets a pretty fun mood. Overall, nice work! What did you build it in?

2nd Bank by bitdecay 2019-05-03T04:43:41Z

@dxk2294 Isometric controls are inherently not intuitive (assuming 4-direction controls like our game), but the muscle memory comes once you've played them for a while. The art style always makes it worth it for me. Thanks for playing!

2nd Bank by bitdecay 2019-05-11T03:51:10Z

@bar Full disclaimer, we never tested the linux build (nobody on our team is running a linux install). We had just blindly put faith in Unity. Looks like we've got some digging to do with how linux builds get made. Thanks for the report!

Mint Sprint by kaiclavier 2019-05-03T03:45:22Z

I know I must be missing something on level 3. I can't give it a full review since I wasn't able to get very far.

The art style is really cool. Has a similar style as Don't Starve, which I really loved. It would be cool to add some more ambient music to the background to allow the sounds of the environment 'play on top of'. The idea of having the level make its own music is great -- I just think you could take it even further.

Solid game (at least as much of it as I was able to see)

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-05-06T06:02:50Z

Very charming. It gets to the point where it becomes like a CS:GO training map XD. I definitely was trying spend my people as fast as humanly possible and only 'won' because I was unable to click fast enough to keep up with my procreation-addicted cultists.

Very nicely done. Audio/art/and mechanics all fit very nicely together.

Blood 2B Rich by brklipel 2019-05-06T02:35:08Z

I'm pretty bad at this game. It's a cool idea -- the little warnings on the side are super helpful to keep your mind on track. I feel the novelty of this game might wear out quickly, but the execution is great. The pacing is pretty spot-on and kept me engaged the whole time (I probably played... 6 or 7 rounds). I had a solid run for my final attempt, though I definitely didn't buy everything.

Brain Jam by Empyrean 2019-05-11T04:06:38Z

It's very hard to know what the choices I'm making are actually doing (perhaps analogous to where you decide to put your effort in an actual game jam?). I like the idea, but am having a hard time finding the 'fun' in this. The story path choices are all too real. Some way to give the player some insight into the impact of your decisions would do this game a lot of good -- overall a nice entry.

Last Stand by KeyurRana 2019-05-05T15:19:32Z

Nicely done! Overall, with a little skinning and some UI polish this game has a lot of potential. I did get slightly confused at how to repair the terminals (I definitely shot the first one I tried to fix XD ).

The way it's set up now, you can never really get ahead of the enemies - It would be cool to see some additional actions you can take (i.e. some special moves) to help change the balance. But overall, it was intuitive and a pleasant experience.

Coin's Journey by PurpoAppo 2019-05-11T16:00:45Z

I was only able to find about 3 scenarios to get the coin into. I was sure if each of the people had different scenarios they took you to, or if all of the people with the same sprite did the same thing. It was hard to know what you were supposed to do. Everything just seemed to take me back to the main area with all he people standing there. There's some potential here to make a wide variety of little mini games for the coin to play, but I had trouble finding all the content in here.

S.U.C.E.S by JGugino 2019-05-03T03:14:46Z

I think sound effects could have taken this game far! Even some simple sfx just to indicate certain things such as: a noise to know that shooting the dirt was doing something, a noise to help the player know that collecting organs is good or bad (I'm still not sure, myself), and something to indicate when the player is taking damage.

Kudos to the minimap, by the way. That is something I have always wanted in a game and have yet to actually implement.

CHICKEN FACTORY by WhyNotYT 2019-05-11T06:11:45Z

Short and simple. The art is crisp and well-done. The music and sound fit well, but were quite repetitive (not really a problem for a game of this length, but I thought about it).

Nice entry!

Root Maker by Joe Bustamante 2019-05-06T05:40:31Z

My team almost took a similar direction in choosing a Forex theme. Though we couldn't figure out how to make a game of it. This ended up being very charming. I was able to get up to a decent amount of money. Looks like there's some patterns you can exploit slightly. Overall a nice take on the theme. Not sure where the game could expand from here, but it's a fun little game you made.

Spider Arena by qazwsxedc121 2019-05-11T03:58:35Z

I was also a little confused at the difference between binding and eating. I see that my life counter goes up if I bind, and my hunger meter goes up if I eat, but it didn't appear to make a difference on how my HP was dropping. Some sounds to help clarify that something is happening would do this game a lot of benefit. I think I see what you are going for, but I was a little confused while playing.

Croissants From Hell by Kimily 2019-05-03T02:51:45Z

I got audio only when I lost (just letting you know in case that's not intentional).

This game plays pretty well. I didn't realize that customers could buy stuff from the spaces behind the display platters at first, so I only ever had 3 baked goods out at once. The pizzas seem to be in a weird place balance-wise. I definitely killed myself somehow by buying too much.

Overall, it plays well. I would have loved some audio to really put the cherry on top. Nice work!

Edit: I didn't realize you opted out of audio until after I wrote this. Disregard that part of my comment :)

LD45 — Start with nothing

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-08T03:15:12Z

This plays way better than I was expecting when I first started. It plays great! Great entry, mah dude.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep It Alive by Pennycook 2020-04-23T02:25:00Z

Putting limits on some of the actions each day may add a lot to this game. As it stands, it's kinda hard to lose (at least it didn't happen to me, as I was able to click enough each day to just make it happy). As others have mentioned, the volume is super loud, but that's why I have a volume knob :)

EGG by inkedsplat 2020-04-26T21:26:52Z

First off, I want to say that I think I've had the most fun playing this game of anything I've seen in this jam so far. The mechanics are quirky and easy to understand. There's a lot of juice in here that makes it feel really fun. It's quite challenging, but I was able to get to a high score of 3400 in 1:40. It became even more fun when I started trying to jump over the same enemy (triangles?) multiple times.

I found that it's a lot easier to control the egg if you just keep tossing it up... only to find that you guys pause the timer when the egg is in the air. So you can't cheese the game with that. Great entry! I'd love to see even more polish thrown on this than you already have. Grats!

ADRENA-LINE by managore 2020-04-21T03:59:19Z

Clean and crisp feeling. Had you been playing with procedural algorithms prior to this game? It came out pretty dang good. I made it to level 36! Good juice sitting in this entry, to boot!

Hay Day by neonian 2020-04-22T05:10:13Z

The game plays really well overall. The audio fits the game nicely, the gameplay is straight-forward and understandable. There were a couple things that could use some polish, mostly around balance and character movement. Since the character always faces a single point, it can be hard to place things exactly where you want to. Some of the early levels you can beat without really putting any objects onto the level. Some of the tutorial levels could be cut out or made a lot shorter.

But none of that is to talk down on the game. It's a solid entry that was executed quite well. Overall, great work.

Brawnfire by bitdecay 2020-05-12T20:28:49Z

@fireslash This was my team's first dive into Haxe (haxeflixel is what we used for this). Not going to lie... it's so refreshing to use something that gives you true programming freedom. I was getting so burnt out using Unity. HaxeFlixel is surprisingly friendly to getting things working quickly, and the Haxe language is pretty friendly, as well. I'm very excited to use it more in the future.

Thanks for playing!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-21T04:11:16Z

Surprisingly not the only game I've seen in this jam that uses the mechanic of 'movable level segments'. It's a cool idea. You've implemented it in one of the best incarnations I've seen. Game is very polished and fun to play. Great entry!

Beetle Blast by OursBleu 2020-04-24T23:30:15Z

I think I'm in the same boat as a lot of people where I can say that I hate escort missions in games, but this one has a different feel to it. Plays pretty well. Would have loved some more variety in what you can do as the player, but it felt solid overall. Quite unforgiving if you accidentally step into a pit, though :'(

Great entry!

Save The Dog! by MateusGauto 2020-04-21T03:52:10Z

The art was quite nice to look at! I wasn't sure exactly what the different items did (if anything). I got to the end, so I assume I didn't miss anything. Nice entry :)

KeepAlive by DrEvilBrain 2020-04-25T06:41:51Z

A very clean experience. I kept getting wrecked by the wrap-around (kept running into the danger symbols). Never got past 50 :( Great compo entry!

Fordhill by Ethan Losten 2020-04-21T20:43:23Z

The graphics style you have here is really nice! I see what you are going for here, and the idea of a sort of free-form tower defense has always appealed to me (wintermaul and the like). I found it a little hard to understand what all the resources were. I do wish there was some audio to accompany all that nice art work :)

Nice entry.

Innocuous Pong by MachWerx 2020-04-27T00:55:12Z

A cool and unique take on the pong formula. I was able to hit 21 points after a handful of tries. That last one definitely is a bit of a mind-racker. Clean, and I like the sort of vector-graphic glow on everything. I had some issues at first with the responsiveness of the mouse input, but it seemed to go away after the first try. Nice job!

Why Baby? by Chris Rock 2020-04-21T21:20:47Z

Artistically interesting game. I like the environment you created. The interactions feel a little 'choiceless' as it felt like I was just running in circles, but I still played for a good while enjoying all the little quips he had for my incompetance. If you could find a little more ways to give the player choices, this has some potential.

Great entry!

The Fire Burning by Shouji 2020-04-29T04:12:44Z

Nice little game here! It's surprisingly similar to the one my group made but with a different emphasis. Plays well and controls nicely. Once I sorta started figuring out how to get more wood near the flames, I was able to get pretty far. Didn't beat it, though (if there is an ending). Nice entry!

CrossWalk by WilliamCarter 2020-05-01T06:36:46Z

The premise here is pretty funny. Like a god game where you're trying to protect man from mankind. I did get killed by unknown objects a couple times, so I wasn't able to beat it, but did have some fun along the way. A cursor might make the UX a little cleaner so you can know for sure what you're picking up and where you're putting it down and such.

OwOrbit by AudreyC 2020-04-21T18:52:08Z

Charming and simple game. I was able to hit 584 after a couple runs, which felt pretty good. It seems like the best strategy is to just stay near the corners as you'll have the most time to react. Consider putting a circular overlay around the screen so that all sides of the screen are equally fair, maybe? Nice work!

Dumb Ways to Doctor by Specturnal 2020-04-24T18:59:56Z

I found it hard to understand what I was supposed to do to treat the patients. It seems like you can only pick one treatment, then they either recover or die? Example, one patient was bleeding, so I used a blood pack, but he kept bleeding out faster than the blood pack was helping. I wasn't able to use any other tools on him, so he eventually died.

The idea is a fun take on the resource management style. I could see having more fun with this if I was a little more free to play with the tools. Overall a good idea with decent execution.

pestilentia by ATTX 2020-05-01T07:06:57Z

Cool idea. It's kinda easy to cheese the levels (clicking and holding an item / character can let you get away with some stuff you probably shouldn't do). The music is fitting, but does get repetitive. Graphics are pretty clean. Overall a solid entry.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Legendary Orbit Golf by pschichtel 2020-10-10T06:42:16Z

I'm a big fan of the gravity mechanics going on here. As you already called out, conveyance is a little weak here (without reading all of your text here, I had a hard time understanding what was going on).

There's something good in this game, and it feels like it has a lot of potential.

Slitherflip by Zathnic 2020-10-19T05:19:43Z

It looks like others have also requested the same kinds of things I would like to see. Namely, sometimes it's really hard to understand WHY my solution failed. Some animation to accompany the "Check Solution" such as flipping the tiles over and showing which adjacency constraints failed would make learning this game much, much easier.

But I like the concept a lot. It's definitely a thinking game... This made my head hurt XD. Nice entry, overall -- I think with a little animation/polish on this, it would be something easy to sink some time into.

SPΓ…RVAGN by Dustyroom 2020-10-06T22:12:08Z

I see I'm not the only one to notice the Mini Metro inspiration here. The atmosphere of this game is wonderful. Very cohesive and very zen. Great polish and the theming around an Ikea style tutorial fits very well into this while also (just as why Ikea uses it) eliminating any language limitations. I'm sad there weren't more levels to play. Awesome entry.

Knights of the Holy Loop by RenD 2020-10-09T00:36:49Z

Start with some good stuff: The UI looks and feels great! The music and sound effects are very fitting. The art looks super crisp.

Some critique: I ended up with enough gold to just buy everything every time I found the Wanderers. It might be cool if you can only have a set number of units in your loop to force you to make choices about who you take into battle.

I failed this game my first time through, but the second time, the first Boss got negative armor and I was hitting him for 55 damage per turn... Not sure if that was intentional.

I ended up getting to the third "floor" and it had no boss, so my run ended there.

Wrap this up with other stuff I like: The random map generation came out really nicely. The little touches like the custom cursor, the bobbing marker on the overworld, and the little watch-handle widget under your team as you fight --- they all came together to make a very polished end product. A great entry and one of the more interesting takes on the theme I've played so far. Very nice work

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-15T03:31:58Z

Not at all what I expected! There's some cool ideas in here. I could see this expanding to some really cool ideas and ways to manipulate the level "tape" as you play. The gameplay otherwise is fairly basic, which isn't a bad thing. The music fits well, but I'm sad there weren't more sound effects to accompany it. Great job and very innovative! By far one of the more unique takes on the theme that I've seen so far.

Pulsewave by bitdecay 2020-10-09T01:26:45Z

@blobo We took a lot of initial inspiration from Necrodancer! But it drifted over time because of how the mechanics unfolded.

@rafit345 We actually had it to where you had to move on the beat initially... but it was way too hard, so we just rewarded you for moving on the beat, instead of forcing it. The hint for when to move was intended to be shown by the little white bars moving in from the sides at the bottom.

@samuel-hollywood-summers We had hoped to get it to where you had to play a little closer to the beat, but we ran into some issues with level design and how the other racers/ships spawned in, and we never got it to where we wanted.

Thanks all for playing!

GLITCH LOOP by ZakAmana 2020-10-10T04:59:23Z

It's clean... it's fun... it's really hard. There's a couple crystals that I think I know how to get, but couldn't quite get the movements correct.

I think one thing that would be a nice touch is the ability to just quickly reset the level so your past self doesn't show up (I found myself very confused sometimes when all I wanted was to start over).

Not much to complain about here. Great compo entry!

Songwriter's Block by Samuel Hollywood-Summers 2020-10-08T03:22:51Z

Cool entry with a good atmosphere! I overcame my creative blocks (I see what you did there). The "ball" having a rectangular collider made for some very strange situations, some good, some bad. At one point I had the ball allllllmost stop and had to wait about 30 seconds for it to get to the guitar so I could hit it again.

I like the little touches (like the sfx when the guitar gets to the edges).

VINYLED by Kamuniaft 2020-10-09T00:12:02Z

Nice game! It's got a lot of similarities to the game we submitted -- but with one major difference: You got your spawns to work nicely.

Nice soundtrack! The curved track made it much more difficult than it seems at first. The hitboxes seemed overly forgiving at times (I definitely drove right over some of those and didn't take damage), but the game was fun to play and to get to each new song. Solid entry!

Transit by GammaRomeo 2020-10-07T03:48:24Z

The aesthetics of this game are really nice. I was digging it for a bit, but I seem to be unable to drop off customers after the first couple batches of 3.

But that issue aside, this game is super clean. Solid entry, even though I don't think I got the full experience out of it.

Around by Feesh 2020-10-08T03:29:25Z

I like the notion of having to re-trace your steps. The game is short, but explores the concept pretty well. I wish the enemies were a little slower so players have more time to respond to them -- I feel like the goal of the slimes is to understand how to manipulate them, not how fast your reactions are.

Nice entry that I had fun playing!

Project R.O.O.M by Arad HamidSamiee 2020-10-15T03:42:20Z

It has some of that PT vibe going. The ambiance you have going here is really cool. Definitely gives me a dissonant feeling. As far as gameplay goes, however... there's not a lot here (perhaps intentionally). The questions didn't seem to have a lot of coherence to them. They did have the creepy theme weaving in and out. I made it to 27 questions and had to bail with no end in sight. A cool entry overall, but I wish it had a little more to engage me in the environment.

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-18T05:13:47Z

A very well rounded experience. I had some issues with how the hitboxes work (I may be missing something with the rules of the rockets). So I died a lot with slopes and other situations. I found it very difficult to navigate the level segments as there isn't much feedback. I felt like I was going through the door at the same time, but I would end up in different places.

All that said, I enjoyed the game, and it's hard to not enjoy playing games to some DnB :)

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-16T05:23:00Z

Very cool idea for the game! It seemed kinda boring to me at first... then I realized the little note about catching guests. I managed to get 8473! The graphics and audio fit together pretty well. Though I wish that you didn't lose the clarity on the coaster cars themselves once you get going quickly. A minor complaint. Great entry overall.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Soil Surfer by bentglasstube 2021-04-28T04:48:16Z

This game has a lot of similarities with my game, but with an entirely different feel. Hex grid is a great thing. I have yet to make a game that uses a hex grid. The environment is fun to run around in, but it's really hard to get long! Those d@mn centipedes are too fast to get out of the way without losing a bunch of yourself. I wish the controls would allow me to hold left or right to keep turning instead of having to press it many times to make more than one turn.

Overall, a very cool entry and a great use of the theme. Great job!

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-04-28T06:36:21Z

Wow. Such a great visual aesthetic here! I can only imagine how much audio would have added to this experience (as it was already quite fun in the silence). The fire and water effects are very cool. It was hard to understand how the fire spread (it seemed to show up far away from where existing fire was). I'd love to see this project go further. Amazing entry.

depthscraper by lexi 2021-04-29T03:31:15Z

I quickly put 30 minutes into this game. A solid idea you have going here. It might just be that I don't have a good strategy, but the random nature of the missions and the rows to choose from feels a little unfair sometimes and your game ends abruptly because of how the proverbial dice roll. A very solid game, though. I had more fun playing this than almost any other game I've played so far. Great job.

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-05-13T00:05:29Z

This game clicked with me. Still not sure what the 'slow fall slip less' meant... but I had a pretty good time of 13:39. A leader board for speed running this would be fun.

Graphics are super nice. Gameplay is on-point. Audio was pretty good, though I don't think the song fit the game very well --- even though it is a good song in its own right. I'm curious if you made the end stages first, or last? You did a good job of exploring the mechanic of the sword. Solid work here.

Holey Moley by bitdecay 2021-04-27T21:22:11Z

@risk4bisk Thanks for the kind words! We hadn't actually seen a situation where we got stuck. Did you use the other layers? The pseudo-3D aspect of the game was the hardest part for us to make obvious while also satisfying the aesthetics of the game.

Holey Moley by bitdecay 2021-05-03T17:06:08Z

@damonwakes thanks for the feedback! The snake does do some actual pathfinding, but it gets a little strange due to how the layers are handled. It was very hard to get the snake feeling "smart" without him destroying the player too quickly... So we opted to make the game easier to allow players to explore more and have more time with the game.

Fetal Fury by Squidly 2021-04-27T06:52:53Z

Not what I expected to see in this jam XD. I actually had a ridiculously good run my first try... but choked and didn't quite make it. This has classic NG vibes with a spritz of Edmund. Great game! Best time so far is 1:32

Nefarious Dive by Nisanick 2021-05-01T23:33:18Z

Very cool game. I managed to find the treasure! I will say that in the beginning, it is really hard to get going because of how hard it is to hit fish with your weapons compared to how fast they swim. But after maxing out the primary, it became quite easy. I didn't really put much money into the secondary as it seemed best to just keep my primary going. Solid entry, thanks for giving me something fun to play :)

Extreme Deep Sea Fishing! by Sbug 2021-04-27T00:48:01Z

I had a bunch of fun with this. Critiques: There seemed to be a lack of stuff in the depths. You can go far deeper than where content stops. The net is kinda awkward, especially with the earlier engines. I also wish there was some audio to complete the ensemble.

The kudos: The graphics really fit well together. The little polish effects like the bubbles from the propeller are very clean. The fish interactions are awesome to watch and... interrupt with harpoons and dynamite.

Overall a great entry that has tons of potential.

Deepenguin McPool - Wants a deeper pool by Bruyère Alice 2021-04-27T06:09:50Z

I've never been a huge fan of clickers, so take from this what you want :)

The art is coherent and clean. There were a few UI things that were off, like the prices hitting 320 caused them to have a line-break in the middle.

Not sure how most clickers sort of behave, but I got to a point where the upgrades were very slow to get between. I made it to depth 200 (well... 199), and it was likely going to be at least a few minutes before I'd have enough money to buy the next thing.

But overall, a solid job. It's crazy to see a team with one programmer and so many artists! My team is the exact opposite. Great submission!

Deep Paper by axeltherabbit 2021-05-09T00:49:06Z

Looks like I'm not alone in feeling that the inverted y-axis on the mouse controls was very difficult to get used to. Once I got to the tunnel, I got very frustrated with not being able to see the tiny enemies as I was moving towards them and died too many times :( It is a very difficult game.

That said, the paper/graph paper aesthetic has a cool feel to it (especially with the effects/colors added to them).

Unsoiled by MiniBetrayal 2021-05-12T04:59:22Z

Money flows easily in this game. By day 7, I was pulling in 500k each day. The audio got really messed up after about the 4th day -- to the point where I can't really hear anything else over whatever static-y sounds I'm hearing.

That said -- this game was really fun and has a really simple, clean aesthetic. Had much more fun playing this than I expected. I also appreciate the tutorial in the beginning (something we always WANT to do, but never have time to get in before submission). Great work here!

Nostril Navigator by Xenon27 2021-04-28T04:57:41Z

I had no idea what exactly I was in for when I clicked this game. XD I would have loved to have a depth meter to know I was making progress. The scope was pretty narrow for this, and you cleanly executed on what you made. And nothing is wrong with a little toilet humor -- most of our game ideas incorporate it in one form or another. Either way, this is still a solid entry that while small, is a finished game and has good polish around what is there.

Goose Root by jryzkns 2021-04-30T05:59:59Z

A very nice aesthetic, quirky, but presented in a very... quaint way. I wasn't able to quite wrap my head around the scoring system, as it didn't seem to play a part in the game. The various objects made me chuckle, and the bottom came pretty quickly. Overall a cool mood, but short lived because of a fairly small area to explore.

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-28T04:35:14Z

I really like the idea of what you've got going here. The idea of have more options 'in' the ground than 'on' it is fun and likely has a wide breadth of gameplay possibilities.

I found getting into digging mode really hard/inconsistent. On both controller and keyboard I found myself having to mash the button between 1 and 10 times before I'd start drilling. This sadly took away from the experience.

I did enjoy the incentive to be careful with your movement as the coins can fall out of your pot if you play too crazy. Overall a cool game with a lot of potential. Also... I see some Monty Mole inspiration in that character! Moles and shades just have a certain kind of coolness about them.

Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate by benjamin 2022-04-06T18:29:07Z

Wow. This is a super cool idea that has an incredible feeling mashup of mechanics. Really almost nothing negative to say about this game. I'm not very good at it (consistently getting to about floor 5 before making stupid mistakes...)

Amazing work here.

Ayakashi: The Mystery of the Sea by igorfelga 2022-04-06T00:03:17Z

The aesthetic your team is going for is really good! I would say the gameplay feels a little unforgiving. I would love to see some indication of how much time as passed, and how much "health" I have left. As it plays right now, it is impossible to know when the game is about to end. I had a run that felt much better than my previous run -- yet I died SOONER than my previous run. I would also love to see a reason to keep me from spamming my spears.

Bussin by bitdecay 2022-04-05T15:04:09Z

@battletoast @joedev we had originally had the grabbing much more precise, but that had its own issues (namely that grabbing things like forks and spoons very difficult). So we made it a little more lenient. Thank you for the feedback, and thanks for playing!

Sorting Algorithm by lectvs 2022-04-06T05:46:55Z

Wow, what a ride. This has mad Ex Machina vibes mixed with some hints of The Witness and other things mixed in. Very cool experience. Clean audio, great atmosphere, and a strangely engaging game loop. This is a solid entry that doesn't feel like a jam game at all -- great polish on this one.

Claustrowordia by Antti Haavikko 2022-04-06T01:31:50Z

I didn't expect to spend so long playing this game. You've come across a really interesting mix-up to the crossword puzzle genre. Full of charm in a playful atmosphere. Not much in the way of criticism other than the game seems to run somewhat slowly. But that didn't really do much to detract from the fun. Well done.

Puddle Boat by ChristopheBessette 2022-04-05T05:48:36Z

I have always been drawn to the idea of simultaneous turn-based games. This one is simple, clean, and fun to play. It took me a second to figure out how the cannonballs work, exactly. It also wasn't obvious how I was dying at first (I might be dumb).

But once I got the hang of it, I managed to get up to 30 before getting destroyed. Fun game, and a great entry.

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-05T16:43:38Z

A very clean entry! I played through twice, and I'm pretty sure I got a perfect score each time (-22). I feel a little bit of knowledge around cartesian distance goes a long way in this game. I would love to see the random levels be a little harder -- in my play-throughs I really only had to move 1 or 2 walls to get a 'perfect' path each time.

I do really like that you can only move one wall between each movement of your character. There's a lot of potential for engaging puzzles in this design if you find the time to custom-tailor some levels. Art and sound fit nicely and have a very playful feel. A very solid compo entry, for sure. Well done.

Wicked flame! by Kaldrin 2022-04-05T03:49:36Z

Definitely a cool take on the theme here! I had quite a bit of fun playing this. A couple things that I think took away from the experience: - I see why some of the oil spots had different flame propagation timings, but it felt weird to have some that instantly ignited, and some that would wait a second to start burning. I would like to see them be graphically different to indicate what is going to happen (it feels more like you have to lose first to know what will happen instead of being able to plan ahead). - The last room seems a bit random as to if you make it through or not. I just held up and would get very close some times, and not very close other times. After about 8 lives, I made it to the end. Not sure why the timing is like that. - I would have loved more sound effects to make the gameplay feel more immersive

All that said, this game is graphically very cohesive. Overall, the mechanic was decently explored. This is a great entry in the jam. Congrats on a very clean game.

Well now....

A "game".... maybe not. An "experience"... absolutely. Strangely engaging and very entertaining. Cool take on the theme and pulling inspiration from unknown realms. Well done!

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-05T23:50:45Z

Very cool and unique entry. I've always been a fan of little minimaps in games. This one suits it perfectly. I also appreciate the little buttons on the Rover Computer to restart and return to the title screen. Tons of nice little game feel stuff hidden in here. The tracks left behind, the changing sound as the rover turns tighter and tighter, it all makes for a really pleasant experience. I managed to finish in 91.91 (an interesting coincidence of numbers).

I would love to see an 'endless' mode to see how many artifacts you can collect before running out of power. Trying to optimize the path between the artifacts was more enjoyable than I expected. Solid entry!

Tactical Ghosts: The Impification by SnowyCocoon 2022-04-06T02:44:14Z

This game is the perfect sort of game I like to see come out of jams. A simple concept, well executed, and polished into a great little package.

It took me a minute to figure out what the heck I was doing, but then I happily played until I unlocked everything. It has a warioware sort of feel to it. The art and sound mix well, though I think there's room for a little more immersive sound while playing. Great entry here!

Cup Half Full by BangTheWall 2022-04-08T05:32:19Z

Very cool take on Tetris! The physics are a little wonky, but that's also the point. Your physics are a little more.... stable than the ones in my game ;)

Great work here. Clean, silly, and entertaining. I managed to get 6050. Not good enough for scoreboard, but I felt I did well. I like the little explosion pieces as they add a nice touch of control to the otherwise chaotic feel.

Protocol Delta by itsBoats 2022-04-06T05:34:10Z

This game slaps! I really like the enemy variation. Each one really does a good job of feeling different despite having a fairly small number of things they can do. The character feels great, the colors are easily readable, and the sound fits the visuals wonderfully. My only 'complaint' is that it doesn't feel like it captures the theme very well -- most games in this genre follow the sort of 'it gets harder until you die' style. It's a minor thing, because the game really is fantastic. Awesome entry.

Balloon Panic! by Archangel 2022-04-05T04:04:23Z

The mood is great here. The game is simple, but well explored. There is deeper strategy than I realized at first with how to optimally use the damaged balloon to move around the screen.

I was a little thrown off by the mixels (different pixel sizes) between the action layer and the background.

But while the game is simple, it is well-executed. I gave it a few good runs an managed to get a high score of just over 26k. Solid entry!

Pixel-Panic by IdeasPerSecond 2022-04-13T02:27:00Z

A cool take on what _feels_ like a twin stick shooter, but really isn't. The slow-mo mechanic really gives a good feel of control. This game ramps up quickly. I made it to just shy of 50ns multiple times, but couldn't get past that point. I really like the physics here. They are subtle, but meaningful.

Mr. Fuse by Praccen 2022-04-05T16:33:28Z

I like the art here, but I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what to do. It feels easy to get the bomb stuck in a corner where you can no longer get it to jump up to a platform. I also get a really low framerate that makes it hard to play. The description says that you find fuses in the wild, but I haven't actually seen the fuses. I just explore and the bomb eventually explodes sometimes.

I really like the idea of a sort of 'escort platformer' where you have to bring the bomb along with you. I think there is a good amount of potential here for puzzle-esque platforming and interesting interactions.

Last_Second(ary) by Vincent_A 2022-04-05T23:41:07Z

Echoing other suggestions here. I'd love to see my time on the end screen so I can know if I hit that last second.

I like the art here and the slowly shrinking play area as you make mistakes gives a good sense of claustrophobia as you play. I wish the enemies gave you a little more time to plan on how to shoot them. The way they rush in from out off screen makes this a little more of a 'twitchy shooter' than it needs to be.

I was able to get somewhere around 34/35 seconds before being consumed by the evil red!

LD53 — Delivery

Continuous Factory by congusbongus 2023-05-16T22:37:17Z

Wow! Great vibes of old 90's games like The Incredible Machine. Puzzles are solid (last one took me a minute to figure out), audio is simple, but doesn't get old. The animations are also well-suited to the art style. I'd have loved to seen perhaps an outline on the text so it's more readable when it overlaps other things on screen, but that's a minor complaint. Definitely one of the best games I've played so far. Great work!

Special Delivery by Ismael Rodriguez 2023-05-03T06:47:52Z

Simple, clean, and well-explored ideas here. Everything feels so crisp and whimsical, while capturing all sorts of retro vibes. The only thing that felt slightly strange is that the claw behaves differently on the end-game screen than it does in the gameplay. Minor, and doesn't impact my feelings, but I noticed it. Great game here! I played through twice to get all the letters. The first one was the hardest by far for me.

Virus Load by soundgnome 2023-05-05T21:39:15Z

Cool entry. The audio fits very well with the gameplay and art. I feel like an intruder in a mysterious place. I never figured out how to get enough virus buddies to take on the bigger critters/cells. Depositing one/two at a time on the membrane felt very slow, so I was trying to amass a larger swarm (I assume it's number-based) so I could attack the bigger things, but the immune system seems nearly impossible to dodge once you have more than 7 viruses in your swarm. Giving the player a little more counter-play around the immune system would make a huge difference in the feel with this one. Great work on the game and the atmosphere with this one.

Desert Mayhem by uniquecorn 2023-05-05T21:51:29Z

Visually very cool. Has vibes of the flash heyday, which is wonderful. I found it very easy to get trapped by the other cars, and even with the gun upgrade, they don't seem to be able to die. Without a goal, the novelty can wear off a bit quickly, but the car felt fun and 'car-like' to drive around. Particle effects are on point. Solid entry.

Meat Sweats by Str8griz 2023-05-03T15:33:09Z

It took me a long time to realize that I had to fight the sauce boss to get sauce. I was trying to collect things off the shelf. A cool game with fun art to compliment it well. The only recommendation I'd have for the art side of things is to maybe desaturate the things that aren't part of the gameplay. The floor tiles are quite 'loud' visually and the sauce area had me convinced that I was trying to get certain things off of the shelves. I have yet to get him to complete the meat sweats challenge... but I've gotten close.

The Antidelivery Room by kaliuresis 2023-05-10T05:07:49Z

We thought about making a game themed around delivering a baby, but couldn't come up with anything. You clearly showed us that there are some good ideas to be had in that area! Pretty fun, overall. My best was level 24! I would have loved to see the game slowed down a bit because it gets quiiiiiite chaotic once the other evil fetuses show up and there is stuff all over the play field. Some squishier sound effects would have been a welcomed addition, too. But overall, it played well and I had a good time with this one. I definitely like your sense of humor with this entry.

Boxtorio by JoshuaBounds 2023-05-03T15:41:21Z

Looks like I'm not alone in some of the confusion around how to play. It looks interesting, but after 5 minutes of trying to figure out how to do things, or what the goal is, I'm a little stumped.

RELEASE THE MEAT by NuiN 2023-05-17T21:33:05Z

Very reminiscent of Fantastic Contraption (which I played A... LOT...). Very entertaining game. Simple physics, and understandable rules to how things work. I really wish that hitting R to restart didn't force me to rebuild my entire vehicle. I ended up not finishing "The End" because I got very fatigued trying to rebuild my cart with a small adjustment. Outside of that, this game was great. Very enjoyable. I'll probably come back after I take a break.

Panda Express by willchoprojects 2023-05-10T05:11:18Z

My best was 36! I had a couple times where the pandas would get stuck when multiple would try to squeeze through the same gap together. I do like the mazing mechanic here where you have to be careful about how you collect the pandas so you can get back to the bamboo in time. I'd love for a little more variety in the audio/music, but overall, good job!

Package Panic by brick2face 2023-05-16T22:24:43Z

Simple and intuitive. I'd love to see additional levels to expand on the idea and give more challenging layouts. It reminds me of the old Game & Watch games like Fire, but with a different approach behind the mechanic.

Cyberframe EDEN by kiririn51 2023-10-04T05:05:28Z

Visuals here are great! The art style is crisp and a joy to look at. I dig all the UI elements and their layout. I do wish the combat was a bit more exciting to watch. Other than the combat, there is a ton of little polish things in here that really make the game feel good. From the scrolling backgrounds and banners, to the visual touches on the dialog boxes, it really comes together as a great package. Only other real critique is the slow pace of the fights. Once I got the hang of how the phases were ordered and which cards would play, I wish I could speed up the fights a bit. Very fun mechanics, and I'm always happy to play another Haxe entry!
