love the art style. shooting needs more polish.

Art was great. Classic gameboy style is really nice. I didn't read the instructions and it took me a while to realize that my bullets were creating walls, though I think the hit detection on them is slightly off? I would shoot a zombie and sometimes a wall would spawn right where that zombie was. Maybe that is intended. I also managed to clip myself out of bounds a couple times. I would suggest that when a player is in a small enough space they should be killed. Maybe they are claustrophobic? Overall cool game though. Was really fun.

@phlip45 yeah that is part of the game haha, when an enemy dies they have a 5% chance of leaving a brick where they died, making more of a challenge. i should have made some animation for it or some kinda clearification somewhere but i didn't really have time, that feature was one of the last things i added.

I like that the player is forced to keep moving so as to collect those juicy powerups. Art is nice and consistent too, reminds me of downwell. There's a bug where I was able to move out of the screen, think I triggered it by creating a wall and then just teleported out. Nice and polished game otherwise :)

A nice execution of the theme. I think the bombs were too rare.

@gord10ahmet I honestly agree haha, i'll fix that when i can

Reminded me of ZX Spectrum graphics which was very nice. I enjoyed the gameplay, I'm a bit of a sucker for this kind of shooter. Did manage to find a few bugs, but an enjoyable game anyway.

Absolutely incredible game. Whether you've realized it or not, you've really got something going here.

I love this game. You're rewarding accurate players, but also creating interesting situations from the walls that are placed when you miss. You can opt to only shoot the enemies, or create a strategic fort where you can take them on in bite-sized chunks. What I really like about this game is the fun and interesting situations that your mistakes can create, and the subtle ways you are pushed to perform better. There's a dynamic in the core gameplay that keeps me strategizing. I'm captivated by the simplicity.

There are naturally areas where this game can be improved, but this game is absolutely one of my favourites this jam.

This game is a cool play on the twin stick shooter style. The graphics feel like a middle ground between atari and gameboy. I definitely dig the minimalist color palette.

I wasn't sure why some shots would turn into wall tiles when I shot the enemies, though. Was there something triggering that to happen?

If you were to add a couple more enemy types, and maybe some weapon variety, this game has a lot of potential! Great entry, overall.

Nice game, the first thing I tried was to close myself in the walls which is possible and got me stuck out of the arena :D sorry I like to mess with other peoples games a littlebit. But I liked the graphics and the music was enough. Overall 3.5 / 5

classic top down shooter - really like the retro style graphics - thanks for making this

f1krazy 2018-09-02 19:24

I like this! It has a very nice retro aesthetic, especially with the music (which is very good IMO). Looking at the screenshots, I thought pink-on-black might have been a bit difficult on the eyes, but I don't think it was that bad in the end. The sheer number of enemies means you quickly get overwhelmed if you're not careful, but it gives the game a frantic pace that I also really enjoyed.

I'd like to see this expanded into a full-blown game. More enemies, more weapons... maybe different level layouts? I feel like it has a lot of potential.
