Really good with lots of potentials!
Damn good. Hell yeee
The feels of this game is really good! I did feel uneasy. For a moment, I thought something will jump scare me. Kinda wished there was.
Nailed it with the audio
Wow, this game felt scary and intense... Really good job!
That was freaky man! Loved it :D
That was freaky man! Loved it :D
That was freaky man! Loved it :D
Some of those questions were so creepy! Loved it
@grizzliusmaximus well, I added jumpscares just for you. you can download the new version (0.4) now on itch.io (this is not an attempt for a higher score or anything, it's just for fun) p.s: jumpscares occur on certain questions, questions that address the room itself. also, thanks for playing.
You realy got it in the intended mood here!
Great mood! I think more room reactions could make this super creepy. Nice Audio effects too!
@arad-hamidsamiee will try it! Hope I can handle it..
@grizzliusmaximus it's nothing SPOOKY, seriously it's just a simple small addition. tnx anyways
I played it for over half an hour and kept thinking I was missing something because I couldn't find any end condition. Then I remembered the theme, and now I feel dumb. I wonder if that will be happening to me a lot with this jam.
I was picking up a kind of SCP-meets-Portal vibe from this; you nailed the creepy mood! Good job!
@codertrevor I'm sorry for wasting your time  It's just a never ending loop Lol (with seamless teleportation system). The same happened to me with some of other games in this jam, too. be prepared.
I don't know what the hell is in that corner but I'm totally freaked out :D
Really well graphically polished and the retro pixel style fits very well, but the performance leaves something to be desired, with occasional slowdowns (I think I got dips under 30 fps on occasion). The bane of Godot until 4.0 arrives I suppose :P
@moffkalast So... did you see it in the corner? rumors are **Those who witness the _one eyed skull_ won't dream ever again!!!** Anyway thank you for playing the game. I did my best to keep it light but unfortunately people are having performance issues (which leaves me helpless), still **_waiting for godot_** 4.0
the fbi i calling, they wanna buy the game ;)
I felt like I was a psycho in a testing facility! Jeez that was creepy! When it asked if I was cold, I got chills all over me!
@klaaswag I'm glad you got immersed in it.
I really really enjoyed this game, the creepy atmosphere of the game, and the questions the monitor asks really help to emphasize how helpless you are while being tested. A very good game!
@spaceguy99 Thanks for giving it a shot.
Very fun and amazing game!)
lol, great atmosphere. nicely done on the textures. Wish there was more
In some times scares, but very good game
@eugenik @blind-lemon-games @andreo200 Thank you all for playing my game. Appreciated
You nailed the creepy atmosphere. Great work on the art, especially the CRT effect. The questions were cool.
the game is amazing! I really like the graphics and mechanics!
Damn, this game managed to make me uneasy with such a simple setup. I guess the answer sound effects are random but that alone makes it so creepy. A little like when you fight Psycho Mantis where he knows things about you using the memory card. The creepy one eyed thing in the corner is creepy, thank you for not jumpscaring me :) After about 30 questions I realized I went over the ten questions mark and started moving around.
@zombiebust3r I can't describe how pleased I am with your experience. I would definitly try to make it more like the Pyscho Mantis fight but I started creating this from day 2 and couldn't think of a faster way than randomizing responses. The questions are meant to never end, And the corridors are using a seamless teleporting mechanic which I am proud of creating them. Anyway Thank you for giving the game a shot.
It made me uneasy indeed, great job :)
Linux build, yey
Great Job! You really nailed the Mood! I was a bit frustrated after the eleventh question, but I was even more curious to see, how many more questions there were. At around thirty I said to myself: Ok, if there are still more questions after 42, i quit :D The room-realted questions were the best - i wish there would have been more like this: E.g. making the lights flicker after the "Are you afraid of the dark?" Question.
@markus Thanks for the feedback, I like the flickering lights idea and I'll probably add it to the future builds. I need more feedbacks like this. And sorry if you got frustrated, I really wanted to make players feel helpless and _STUCK_ Lol. And nice guess about the quantity of questions.
I loved the mood of this game! the 0.4 version would not install with the Itch app for me though.
Its game concept is interesting. I am waiting for a full version. Good job, congratulations.
Very neat graphics but I didn't fully understood the aim, anyway you made cool game)
I played this at night and I actually jump on my chair when the person in the corner showed up. I liked it a lot. Do it has an end? I reach question 40.
This game really disturbed me. Very well done!
Ha our games are kind of similar although yours is much creepier! Great atmosphere. The looping effect was well done.
Very nice game… I think the addition of the shadow is a good thing… After that question, I was kind of reluctant to leave the room… well done.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.
You captured a rare and pretty complex feeling with this game! Some of those questions were pretty fucked up man, and I love the game for it :D The inevitable "search for the "real game"" also made me smile and just fitted so perfectly into the point you were trying to make! Thank you so much for this experience!
That was something else! Delightfully eerie and humorous at the same time. Really good interpretation on the theme and really good mood. Great entry!
Very nice game. Was expecting a jump scare at some point. Took your advice and used headphones, the sound and atmosphere is amazing and the questions became very dark at one point. You can totally turn this into a full fledged game about a mental patient stuck in a facility that's haunted, but is it? or is it in your head?. You see messages written in blood but when you call for help the message disappears. Very inspiring game. Thankyou
@cax There is no real aim, it's just the experience of being stuck in a bad situation.
@gonzalol Unfortunately the questions are limited but They are in a loop too so they won't come to an end. There is no _End Condition_ in the game. I'm glad you liked it, tnx for playing.
@tommy glad to here that.
@offlebaggins It's funny our designs are similar (I'm glad I played yours), The looping effect took time but at least it's seamless now.
@eptwalabha Thank you for the feedback.
@trexxak Wow I'm speechless. Hope you had fun!
@thought-reactor Oops.. I opt-out _Humor_ out of ratings cause I thought nobody would find it humorous. Glad you liked it.
@tauheed-game-dev Thanks for playing with heaphones, I care about sound effects. I like the idea of making it into a full game and appreciate the plot you suggested. Glad you liked it.
The mechanics is not really innovative but I really like the kind, it's clean and nice :) Well done !
Excellent work. The game fits perfectly into the theme. Good graphics and sound. Sometimes it was a little scary, but then it gets boring.
The mouse sensitivity is a bit high for me (Linux build perhaps), but everything else is very polished. The addition of the jumpscares really improve the overall experience.
I was hoping the game would have a "final message" if you got all the questions right, but after digging through the code I found it was just random correct or false.
Very cool game nonetheless!
@ricardoeprodrigues Thanks for the feedback. I probably should add a mouse sensitivity scroller in the menu. I like the idea of poping a final message if player gets every question right, adding correct and false sound effects was a last minute addition and I didn't have much time to reflect on it. I should probably add 'right' and 'wrong' varibles to each question and make them more precise. If you are intersted to see these changes, I could tag you again and inform you about them.
Top creepy! Nice simple entry that leaves a mark.
The mood was so well done I felt uneasy a lot of times, really well done! The game was very polished and it shows, creating an unique experience. I hope you keep going with it further, it has a lot of potential!
Very well done on the atmosphere, you've succeeded at making me uneasy
I would love to play an extended version where something actually happens. You know, classic horror story where you play a sick survival game with an evil monitor
Great job!
So many positive comments and I can't play it on Mac! Noooooo.. :(
@malashik I added a Mac version so you can give it a shot :) I hope it works tho, I couldn't test it myself
@abregado Thanks for the complement.
@ikelucas I plan to go further soon enough, Tnx for playing the game.
@mvasko2 Sure thing, Glad you liked the atmosphere.
Very fun and amazing game!
I love such things (psychedelic horror-related games). Pretty good game, fits the theme a lot. But I feel a lack of FPS (it was about 30-35 but I don't thing my PC is that slow...) and really missed some kind of development of events in the game (changing environment, play with textures, more interactivity with the player). Anyway, really good job.
When I got to the questing asking if there's omeone else in the room, I looked around, saw something in the corner and almost had a heart attack. Not really my kind of game, which is why I didn't give it an overall score, but I can see what you were going for, and you did a pretty good job.
@monkosum Sorry if it scared you, hopefully you liked the visuals
@xbdoblex tnx for playing my game.
@bot12313 I hope you are not an actual bot :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: yeah it weirdely has performance issues and I don't know why. thank you for suggesting to add more events, I will in the future builds. Glad you liked it.
**Good game! - Didn't finish playing the game.**
**Here is my feedback:**
**What I liked?** - The main menu. Decent! - I liked the mechanics. - Nice SFX. - I liked the visuals.
**What I disliked?** - The cursor. It doesn't look good vertically. - The SFX when moving over the red or green cube. - Is this how the main menu should be? It is off. [1] - It shows [LETTER(S)] above the question I thought they are buttons to click at first. - I didn't enjoy playing.
---
(Stopped playing when I saw the question that asks if there is someone else on the room, because I am sure I will have a nightmare if I continued)
I don't play horror games, but with somehow didn't read the tags.

Sorry for the unfinished feedback.

@ms-annotation-x thanks for your feedback.
your dislikes explained:
1 - Sure thing, it will change how the cursor looks
cursor_click.png
2 - It is intentional that the screen gets darker near the buttons, thanks for the feedback, I can remove this effect.
3 - Is this picture how the menu is shown for you? this is how it must be shown:
Untitled.png
4 - About the letters I have to admit that many players thought they are keys but they are actually hand-made codes to categorize the questions.
5 - too bad you didn't see the _THING_ in the corner
The mood and atmosphere are well done, I felt alienated. Sounds are also good.
I don't know if there was more after the questions, I stopped at 30. Some of them are cool and improve the mood.
There was too much lag tho, it helped disorientating, so it helped somehow the mood, but it is also annoying, can't say for certain it was intended. The black shadow in the corner could have also made better, it appear for just a frame and it seems more of a glitch than something else. I mean, it is intended to be something like "Have I seen something?" but it could be done better.
It was a nice experience, keep going!
@toccio94 Thank you very much for the feedback. I tried to put enough questions so they look like they are never going to end. The lag was unintentional, I don't know why it happens for some players :(
The game has some vibes of Portal and FEAR at the same time. The idea is interesting and creepy.
Cool atmosphere. Gave me some horror vibes but wasn't too heavy handed. I wasn't sure how to progress tough. I did hear the buzzer ring differently when I give a correct or an incorrect answer, but how do I redo the test? Just restart the game? Also the question counter would say (32/10). Not sure if bug or if I'm missing something. Again though, loved the vibes!
You 100% nailed the mood of your game! It made me feel very uneasy
@tricky-fat-cat I tried so hard so the game wouldn't turn out something similar to Portal of FEAR  well thanks for playing and commenting
@msiddeek Thanks for the feedback, There is no progress in the game, It's the experiences of being traped/stuck and helpless. The questions are supposed to never come to an end and It is intentional that the counter gets higher than the max questions so the player feels like there is no real end to them.
@darthone I'm glad about your feelings :D
Excellent job with the unsettling atmosphere and nice consistent polished style and look for a game jam! Really really enjoyed this, and glad I played the 0.4 version, because the corner flashes were definitely a highlight that multiplied the creepiness factor of the questions :D Awesome entry!
You turned the fear to the max there! Great job, the visuals and music were on point.
The game was somewhat lagging for me (on a <1 year old machine, but still a laptop), which made standing on the platform challenging at times. I often jumped back just to immediately fall on the button on the other side, answering a question I hadn't had time to read. :P
Really wish there was a way to actually finish the game! I got to, like, question 40, and *won't dream ever again*.
Nice creepy little game. I think... I saw something in the corner? Am I losing my mind?!
Constructive feedback: I wish there was mouse sensitivity and y-axis invert options. Not really needed because aim isn't important, but still nice to have.
The stand-on-platform-then-land-on-a-button mechanic was a little weird. I was trying to press Q to answer. I eventually started to spam answers waiting for something to happen.
I wish there was some kind of ending, or something to let me know I completed the intended loop. I answered 40 questions and figured there was no end. I guess it plays into the "question my sanity" theme.
Good job on your game, and lowering all of our sanity along the way lol
Loved it. Freaky vibe and so much atmosphere. I did think I saw some stuff in the corner as well :D I didn't understand what the letter in between the [ ] mean though. At first I thought I had to press that E,Q, PH, But nothing. Nice game overall Well done
The questions drew me in so much that I went through all of them before I even attempted to use the exit :grinning: Some of them get wonderfully dark. Great, great creepy atmosphere (which is not so easy to achieve in a bright room). And I loved the one that ends with "OR BOTH" (without spoiling much) - I wanted to choose "or both" but couldn't stand on both buttons at once
I also still wonder... where are the first two questions (as it starts with 3/10)? Did... did the shadow behind me eat them?
The game lags somewhat and the mouse felt too sensitive by default. But the environment looked nice indeed.
Cool concept! Definitely would be cool to see this expanded, the idea of being put back in the same room again and again could feed into some interesting gameplay.
@alpharock6 Thanks for playing and commenting. Glad you liked it.
@greytyphoon Thanks for the feedback. I really should fix the lag somehow, almost everyone is experiencing it :( and Nope there is no end to the game, you are perpetually stuck. (don't worry, you will dream eventually, if you ever manage to get out of _the room_)
@ismael-rodriguez Appreciate your feedback. I will definitely add a mouse sensitivity setting, and the letters above the questions are meant to categorize the questions. I can also add a sign of completion on the monitor, good idea. Glad you played and liked my game.
@hakro Tnx for playing. The letters above the questions are codes to categorize those questions, and they mean something but I didn't properly describe what they are due to lack of time (don't tell anyone what they mean) - Q is for questions that are meant to be asked by whatever organization is doing this to you. - PH is somewhat related to mental sanity of every contestant. - SYS is all the questions that the _SYSTEM ITSELF_ is curious about.
@fabula-rasa Thanks for the complement. The first two questions happen only once at the very beginning.
@abdul-zakkar I'm grateful for your interest. Thanks for playing.
Cool concept. I got the Stanley Parable fibs!
The Mac version does not work. Kinda weird, I think it's first time ever seeing a Godot game which didn't. On the other hand, might also be a first time ever seeing an fps made with Godot too.
Screenshot 2020-10-12 at 20.16.56.png
Might have something to do with all those dots in the name. The pck file seems to exist under `Contents/Resources/Project R.O.O.M LD47 v0.4.pck` though...
Too bad, managed to peak my interest with all the secrecy. :spy:
**edit:** Seems like my guess was correct. Got it working by renaming the following files to not have periods in the name.
proom.gif
Well, that was quite interesting. But I'm stumped now. After two and a half loops through the same questions, I'm giving up. Even your "spoiler section" doesn't really help. Or was there even a way to progress or just an endless loop (on questions and corridors)? That'd be kinda cop out.
Thought I found some pattern on the question labels (sys, ph, q, e) corresponding with the answers but after like a ten or so correct ones it was foiled too. Was I just supposed to memorize every answer and get the right flawlessly? I definitely got some repeat questions I got the correct sound que for on the previous round but the questions did not start from the start though.
Kinda bold statement to say that **everything** was intentional. Was the points where if you walked up the ramp after a question too fast and didn't get a new question before stepping down first intentional? What about the horrible framerate (didn't seem that graphically demanding)?
Also found it quite awkward how the answer buttons and the podium were setup. And most of the possible actions were completely pointless (to my best knowledge at least). The game didn't even bother teaching about majority of them.
The question stuff was fun but too much repetition. Like the first time when seeing the shadow figure in the corner when prompted about someone else being there in the room was cool as hell but getting it repeated several times before even looping was just lame. It actually would have been spookier if it didn't happen after seeing it for the first time. Same goes for the non yes/no questions. First one was funny but the second was just more of the same.
Game had some nice small touches. Like the real time clock. Those always impress me for some weird reason. But I'm in the analog clock camp a bit more, those really impress the heck out of me. Even though I can't think of a single other game with an analog real time clock besides Inside right now...
But yeah, good job!
@antti-haavikko Well, Thank you for the constructive feedback. I'm glad you took time to explore the game this much and write me detailed comments, and thanks for trying to get the game working. I don't have a Mac around me so I can't really test to see how the exported file acts on a Mac.
I tried to write enough questions to make players feel like there are an infinite number of them but due to lack of time I couldn't add more questions, and they are just a mess, there's no real order between them. I also made this game to give the impression of being stuck, perpetually. That's why there is no ending to the game. The player is supposed to feel helpless and frustrated.
Question labels are explained in the last comment above yours. Also there is no real answer to any of the questions.
I don't really understand why the framerate is messed up, this is like the most optimized game I've ever made, I kinda suspect that I've messed something up in the export section or something.
The game only teachs about useful controls. I wanted to add vents so I added crouch but I couldn't get the vents ready in time, there are hidden mechanics like slow motion but they are all cut due to the limited time. (I started from day 2 - and this is my first jam)
And I'll make sure to add real time analog clocks in my next games. :D
Thanks for playing and the feedback.
(Also I really appreciate your comment, big love to finns and experienced game developers :black_heart: )
Nice tests. Liked this idea.
Averagly fit into the theme.. Not good graphics, maybe next time.
One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will aperceite very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)
It has some of that PT vibe going. The ambiance you have going here is really cool. Definitely gives me a dissonant feeling. As far as gameplay goes, however... there's not a lot here (perhaps intentionally). The questions didn't seem to have a lot of coherence to them. They did have the creepy theme weaving in and out. I made it to 27 questions and had to bail with no end in sight. A cool entry overall, but I wish it had a little more to engage me in the environment.
Could you export this as WebGL/HTML5 or .exe? Some people, including me, can't get this to work.
@peace-of-cake-games Are you a Mac user? perhaps by removing the dots between the letters, you can get it to run. I will probably add a HTML5 version but I guess it's already too late for that :(
@arad-hamidsamiee No way I'd use MacOS! Windows is far superior in terms of professionalism and power. The problem is the only way for me to run your file is with Visual Studio, and it fails to open the file. Really it isn't too late to add a HTML5 option, there was a problem just like this with another game and they added HTML5 just half a week ago or so.
@peace-of-cake-games I added a WebGL version but it's a mess, tried it on Opera and Chrome, Chrome handled it much better, still I couldn't get it to run in fullscreen + It's much brighter than the original version for whatever reason and the UI is out of place.
Thanks @arad-hamidsamiee ! I'm sure it'll work fine for me, nothing runs WebGL games better than Chrome. Combine that with a fast Windows computer and it'll be great.
Spooky game which sets the atmosphere up perfectly! After a while, it got annoying climbing the ramp. Maybe if there was a little more variation with the questions and how they are answered within the room.
Ok, I admit. I was playing it. And I thought the visuals and sounds and everything felt pretty good. Started answering questions and then I looked at the _corner_. Holy moly. I don't know what I saw but I yelled and immediately closed the game. I am nervously laughing now. I spook easily, so I don't think I'll be booting this game up again even though I was very interested in it. Gotta hand it to ya, that was some BIG mood. So well done!
@jafcraze Thanks for the feedback, it helps me get a better understanding of what players want to see more.
@diego-escalante Thanks for playing :D Your reaction is much appreciated :ghost:
Well done. Very good (but weird) project. I liked the main aesthetic - something clever and intuitive. Gameplay was fun, but I didn't understand anything at start. We need solid tutorial. I was very surprised by your game which has been created under Godot. I did not know anythig about this engine. Thank you for your feedback ++
The mood and atmosphere are well done thanks to the strange and alienating room and the creepy sound effects. Really enjoyed playing it. Good job!
Initially I had fun playing with the corridors, then started on the questions. After question 11 I started thinking maybe I had to get some right. Then came the soup question and I thought "what?". Then the alone in the room question and I started getting very on edge. At around question 30 I went "Nope!" and tried walking out the room repeatedly. At the point I was arguing with the questions (started seeing the place holder notes as different characters) and trying to catch the thing in the corner. In short you nailed the mood, really made me feel trapped and not sure if there was a way out. Eventually quit and read the comments. It would be really fun to see you expand on this.
@geckoo1337 Thx for playing and sharing your thoughts.
@coding4rtist Thanks you.
@jammygunns There is no exit Lol. I'm glad you got immersed in my game, tnx for the positive comment.
[We played this on stream over the weekend!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/781046795?t=01h49m51s)
I feel like this game was the perfect experience for a group of friends to play together. We spent waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too long debating some of these questions. Hope you enjoy our tomfoolery!
@coleslaughter Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed my game. There is also a creature in version 0.4 for more spooks.
