Cool game! I love the death music. I found all the insta-death pits :)
I don't think I understood the dark memories, but it was still entertaining and well polished. Nice!
Loved the humor! On the third level the enemies moved once before I could and one was on top of me so I could never move?
Cool idea and I loved the visuals.
It took me a second to figure out I needed to donate from the core to get more money, but once I did it made sense. I feel like some sort of sound effects would be nice because I was constantly killing things off screen and could never tell if I was in real danger.
I like the art and damage reaction. I could see this being pretty fun. I was confused if I finished it or just died at the end :)
Awesome style choices! It had me smiling the whole time.
Very nice art and music! I never seemed to disturb people breaking their windows while talking to them haha.
Really interestingly done! I was originally thinking about doing a choose your own adventure type game and wish I knew how to make the text popup stuff. I liked the aesthetic a lot. Sorry about the cancer :(
creepy! I had trouble seeing the door in the first room on my tablet and almost gave up, but spammed "e" around the room until it opened heh. I like that you included voice audio!
Nicely done and good use of the theme!
Nice job! Easy to play and everything made sense. Enemy variety would be cool. The weapons all felt pretty similar too, but the framework is there for more!
Smoothest platformer I've played of submitted games! I didn't really understand the menu grid and it flashed away faster than I could read, but the gameplay and levels were nice!
I'm 3 hours in and still loving it!
Very cool style! Couldn't really understand what I was trying to do, but loved the visual style!
I like the idea and did get a dance group going, but sometimes I think it randomly restarted? Tricky to get attacks right but satisfying!
I was actually sad when the survey repeated hah
Nice puzzle platformer. I'm not sure if it was a bug or intentionally but when I die it keeps restarting the audio making it sound super glitchy (if I hit jump it keeps repeating the start up the jump audio). I actually thought it made cool angry death audio after having a nice friendly feeling while alive.
Without the decision text on by default I was really confused, but once I enabled that it made a lot of sense and was cool!
hahaha. Well done! A true cat lady experience. Everything that is in there is really solidly done.
I like the way you serve lemonaide! I want to visit that world and experience the jet stream.
Wow I love the style of this! I tried playing this on a touch pad which was a little tough, but still worked! Almost didn't realize there was audio but turned up the volume and enjoyed what I heard :)
My memory got full and I kept getting a popup about it, but I couldn't figure out how to do anything about it? Nice art!
I like the art!
@coleslaughter Thanks for the tip on Update vs FixedUpdate! That makes complete sense to me. I think I switched it when something on the physics side wasn't working and didn't think about the consequences! That kind of issue also made me realized I need to learn a better way to organize where I handle the various pieces like input, visuals, player info, etc.
Hahah I love the gun idea. Game worked for me!
I wish I had played this during the voting period. This is awesome! Well done. Yumm.
I wacked many moles. I really like the particle explosions!
Nice! At first I thought it was going to be more tower defense feeling but it ended up feeling like a clicker. I was wanting more upgrades and insanity by the end! :)
I think it has a memory leak! I eventually had a triangle get stuck right next to me that couldn't be destroyed so the game froze. Cool idea and I like the flavor text!
I like the voice acting! I couldn't get the mouse to stay on the game in web so it made it a little hard to play but I got through a few cops :) I couldn't tell I had a gun and was shooting on the first one, but once I did I could see this being pretty fun. Nice humor too!
Great game! I almost got stuck on tutorial 4 but the text helped me figure out the timing!
I love the art and sound in this! I couldn't figure out how to solve it though. It looked like I was moving one of the socks in mobile but the other was stuck in the middle and even if I went over it nothing happened?
@johnnyv ahhhh I didn't realize that! I just tried again and freed the sock! :)
I just played through and finished it. It looks like you made it easier but it still took me a couple play throughs to figure out how to win. My hand is sore from spinning! :) I like the humor in it!
Cool idea! I like the music and am always a fan of custom art :) As someone mentioned I think highlighting where you can move would have made it much easier to understand from the start, but I still think it was cool. The grid of numbers was overwhelming at first and I thought it was going to be a math game ha! Good job coming up with something unique!
I like the texts when you mute the music :)... hacker speed is the only way to play!
Well done! The instruction popups were really nicely done and the game mechanic was fun too!
Nice background music and theme usage! I like the text too. The boss sounds like a drill sergeant in my head.
I love the look and feel of this! The audio effects of the different areas was really nice too! I got to the 5th marble and it said thanks for playing and might have glitched out? Nice job!
Good thing aliens can't climb stairs! haha. I loved the audio in this!
You had me as soon as I saw this was about candy! I love the mood and flying around on the broom! I definitely have some concussions from walls though :)
The pointer to tell you where to go is great and I liked that some things disappeared in the moon.
Wow I'm bad at inverting tones! Neat idea!
Once I figured out the jumping mechanic it made way more sense! Tea!
Alternating space/tab is the only way to go! I got stuck after animating the jumping jacks guy, but I like the idea! I wish it had sound.
Great music.... would you be interested in starting a band? See my game for my resume. I fixed the wand!
I liked the text sounds a lot and didn't run into any bugs or issues. I went from too weak to fight the dragons to way to strong to lose to the dragons really fast though. Cool looking dragons!
I was able to open the floor and door, but never really understood the pattern of how things changed. I like the polished art style and feel of the game though!
Thanks to everyone who has played the game!
@justuspan @nethead - I thought about adding a way to clean the mess, but instead wanted to leave it to mark all the failures you have had in your child's life. They only spawn when you fail to meet a need before the meter goes out. You can clean the house of cats if you want though haha.
@wakobu - ~~I haven't seen that LD46 game! I'll have to check it out.~~ HAHA... definitely different feel but great game.
@thecakeconsortium - Exactly! You make messes in your house and then die. The circle of life. :) I guess it isn't shown other than in the code, but I meant for the ages to be infant/toddler/pre-teen/teen but my drawings didn't come out quite that way. Hopefully the voicing got that across a bit.
@arad-hamidsamiee Sadly the only thing I enabled cleaning was the cats :) I guess I could have made the mess grabbable too so you could stack them somewhere or throw them out of the house hehe. I figured the number of cats was another way to escalate the play/story, but also it just seemed funny! Thanks for playing!
@peachtreeoath - Thanks for playing and the feedback! Yeah the game loop itself isn't worth much and could have been improved on a lot. I also would just constantly hold the baby when I played since there was no downside to just holding him. If I spend more time on it I might make the care part of it more of a challenge so there is an actual game challenge and not just a story. I was more focused on figuring out the sprite side and putting in jokes since this was my first time to use Unity in 2D mode.
@p-r yeah there is a collider issue where the walls and the blocked off areas can get you stuck between them. I meant to add respawn code if you got dropped outside the walls but never got around to it.
@dk5000p - yeah if I had more time I wanted to make the stations a little more obvious, but figured hunting around for them wasn't so bad that I couldn't submit it as is. The couch was on feed was for breastfeeding or lap feeding while the kid was young. The love stations didn't make a ton of sense, but were the closest things I could think of where it was just spending time with the kid (play/livingroom).
Thanks to everyone who has played!
@fractal - Thanks for playing! Yeah there isn't much of a game loop in this one and part of the point was that you can't actually control that much in your child's life. His desires were probabilities so they change each time you play, but depending on the time of day sleep has a higher probability (night times) so it tends to dominate. Midday everything has roughly equal chance depending on the age of the child.
I failed to break the loop, but did make it to lap 4! I like the graphics and the ghost car mechanic!
I could never get turning down and on my first lap I flipped on my side and couldn't figure out how to get unflipped.
Nice game!
I was ready for some chill lazy river and then tony hawk ramped over my head! I like the style!
Loop Cat didn't look furry enough! Shader 2.
I figured out how to play pretty quick and like music games in general. I'm not great at remembering things though so I eventually had trouble getting it right and just started freestyling :) It's a fun loop editor!
My best was 2:12! I wish I could tilt :)
I started getting sick on the spinning level. Great implementation of all these though!
Nice game mechanic and level design! I really liked the rewind animation.
Great drawings! I like the style a lot. I want to learn how to do that.
The game music question take a lot of time up and I'm assuming you didn't create that one? I'm not hardcore, but I did learn a thing or two!
@yangying Ah ok! I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure. I didn't know the games that well so wasn't sure if I just didn't know or if there wasn't an answer. I'm not hardcore enough to try all the options :) I like the idea!
I'm good at drinking beer but not so good and brewing it! I spent ~40 days in and could never buy enough resources to make beer. I enjoy hearing it growl at me when I try to do things I can't though :)
Great art! Gotta aspire to be a Celeryman.
Nice idea! It seems really cleanly made and I like the energy of the track as it gets harder. I also like the screen shake on the bass.
I got stuck on the Morse code. I listened a couple times and didn't recognize the letters. Neat puzzle game idea. I think the sound effect for the text got old fast though. The visuals looked good though!
I always like games where you can go a little overboard on power and seeing the bike fly away was fun! I wish it had something happen when you go through the ring so I knew I was doing it right. I almost missed adding more boosters to the track but eventually had to see how fast I could launch :)
I never realized the tough life of a beaver. Thank you for teaching me this story of nature. I will be sure to leave more buckets near rivers in case the beavers don't have any.
Seriously though this was great!
Nice job! The music was great for the feel of the game. I had to make a full circle around the planet to see what each place was, but quickly realized I could link two useful places and never leave them if I wanted. I also wished the movement was quicker, but I think with the slow music it actual worked well at the speed it was. I like the art style too!
The math involved in space orbits makes my head hurt! Nice implementation of it in a simple form! I had a few "stable loops" only to then zip off into space, but I like the idea.
Great Art and implementation! I got pretty fast but I don't think I finished it...
I agree with others. Game 2 is a winner!
Great mood! I think more room reactions could make this super creepy. Nice Audio effects too!
Nice simple puzzle game!
Points for using Bach! :) Fun visualization of it too. I once saw a presentation from someone who did a similar project for their undergrad senior project where they were trying to surf on top of all the notes like this.
Great game mechanic! I really enjoyed it and the style of the game.
I died on day 11. :'(
I almost beat level 3 on my run. I like the excess of pixels! The game play mechanic was a bit rough, but it was still fun to see explosions everywhere and gibs fill the screen!
I liked how smooth your worm movement and trail was. Mine was done less smooth and I'm jealous. It was also interesting how you stay at a size and then all of a sudden grow pretty fast. I wish I got bigger and could escape the lava :)
I thought the models looked great and the music/effects fit well. It felt weird always lunging forward on attack but maybe that made it easier. I had a little bit of a hard time understanding if there was an explosion animation and a death animation on the enemies and generally ran away for both, but I think given the time involved this is great!
I didn't even realize how to eat fish the first time through and had 0 at the end ... second time I had 15... not sure what is supposed to happen or change at the end? I like the style and mechanics though. I wish I could swim faster though.
Cool idea @peachtreeoath! It took me a bit to mentally switch between them correctly but once I did it worked pretty well. I wish there was a slow flip 180 or something because spinning 180 takes forever. I guess if they were mechs that would make sense though. Do these aliens not have butts? :) Oh I never really used the guide at the bottom but I did think that was a cool addition. Maybe having a second count down at the end to add suspense would help since I wasn't sure if I was even close when I died on the level 4 ending.
Really nicely matching style to everything! I flew myself across the map and went over the edge detect on the right. I found the edge of the dream. Untitled.png
Nice simple mechanic that was easy to understand and required some thinking to do well!
I enjoyed slamming some fish! Nice!
I liked the mood of this a lot! The music fit the underwater feel and it was very clear how it worked. I've never seen Stencyl before, but it seemed to work for me!
Yeah I like how things work but once I got a few things upgraded it seemed to take forever to make enough money to keep upgrading. I almost missed that I needed to go to the shop to do upgrades a first too and was wondering where I find more fuel under water. Nice art and UI!
Very clean submission! I like the subtle screen bend effect and the music a lot! Where is the music from? free source/midi/played? Well done!
I really liked this! Did you randomly generate the level layout each time? I killed myself after getting the 3 notes and it cleared their progress bar but still opened the exit and wouldn't let me pick up more. The "e" also never went away after it appeared the first time. The look of this is great and was relaxing as promised! Well done.
Killer rabbits! I love the music and the pitch shifting down to add dread!
I only made it about half way through, but I like that the game wasn't easy and you provided a playthrough video to see the end! Nice damage display and speed up/down mechanic! This seemed really solid and I'm not sure what I'd change.
I could only make it to 80% but really wanted to see the ending. I like the music a lot... it fit the feel of the art style.
@last-angle - Thanks for playing! Yeah I considered putting it on the menu as well, but wasn't sure people would listen to the whole thing there. It also tells a bit darker story of why the worm is leaving which I wanted to hint at in the game but never got around to it. I also considered adding a button on the menu to just trigger playing the song as well, but got burnt out on time and didn't get around to it.
@ristoretto yeah I was worried some people might react that way and at least added the text warning to the webpages, but since the whole game is bugs I assumed people would avoid it completely if concerned. If it helps there is nothing that can actually hurt you in the game.
@noel-widmer Yeah I wanted to put more detail into the ending and maybe alternate exits but ran out of time. I really only planned to figure out how to show different ground under you as you went through the dirt but the same method worked to make the wood container too. It worked better than I thought! This is where I learned how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pl8DcsCQ_k
@peachtreeoath I had wanted more details both in and out of the compost box and was planning on adding some secret areas you could find with different music as well, but time... I had told myself I would spend more time on music this time around and didn't start on it until ~8hrs before it was over so I rushed to get stuff made and was too burnt out to do any more than I did.
This is a hard platformer but had a lot of cool features. I was able to fall on the ceiling on the first level and run straight to the ending :) I couldnt figure out how to get past the skull in space. Well done!
Wow this was much cooler than I expected! It is easy to overpower your fighters and I was one hitting bosses (played through lvl 30). I also didn't realize I could move the catchers until level 14 but that was probably my fault for not reading. Great mix of games!
WORMS! Hah now I see why you were interested in the masking I did vs maybe how you did it. I'm now curious if it is different! I tried eating my tail at the very beginning and noticed the beginning of the worm doesn't count which was a little confusing at first. I imagine that is so the trailing segments don't trigger collisions which makes sense. I removed all my colliders except for the first segment since I wasn't really using them but for wall detection. Untitled.png
Yeah I figured it was intentional but hadn't read the change logs. I used a controller so it wasn't as easy to do. I almost added a growing worm mechanic to my game but didn't want to have to program all the detection/food/etc hehe.
Ah yeah I was still drawing circle masks but I drew them closer together than the worm and only saved ~1000 circles so if you kept going around the same area eventually the end of your trail would start getting replaced. Originally I had it save more like 10,000 but ran into some performance issues every once in a while so I reduced it... I have a pretty beefy PC so I'm not sure if it still gives people trouble.
Great artwork! It looks really nice and I could see the dashing mechanic being fun. Some audio would have helped a lot. Some of the guiding text was off the screen for me even in fullscreen (maybe due to ultrawide resolutions?) and I wasn't always sure what I needed to touch, but great job with the time you had! I always enjoy these compo's to see what I can do with minimal time too!
Cool idea! I remember playing a claymation game as a kid and have thought about trying to create something like this! I imagine it is pretty time consuming!
Nice idle/clicker. I never felt in danger of running out of water and never had that many choices if I just upgraded whatever was available next. The style all felt nicely done and I liked the 3d effect when moving the mouse. That was a nice addition. The last upgrade did feel like an unnecessary wait since I couldn't upgrade anything else, but I guess that is most clicker games near the end :) My audio had a lot of pops in it that I couldn't tell if it was intentional.
itch also couldn't find the game for me..
Hahah nice idea! This game made me a little nauseous in fullscreen since it was so zoomed in, but the idea was well executed hah.
I like the feel of the game and the sound effects are great! I wish I could have kept going deeper but it looks like it is only about 3 deep? I only got ~300 or so my first play through when I was being safe but was around 800 on the 2nd but wanted to get killed to see what happened. I like the ghosts!
the loss of flying made it much harder... also the skeleton on the 3rd level is taller than the step above him I think? it kept killing me on it after going over him so I'm not sure how to pass that level. Nice art though! One way I've used so you don't stick to walls is to add a Physic material with 0 friction on the walls.
It took me a second to get how it works, but I made it to the bottom and it broke my nail?! I enjoyed seeing what new thing would be discovered as I went deeper. Changing the music probably would have helped a lot... even just speeding it up as you got deeper. I liked the sections where you couldn't see the nail... I got scared maybe the timing would change.
Yeah my sensitivity was pretty high for my taste on this one too. The answer is obviously to move to the back of your cage where the scientist cant reach you and live a happy life! :) I noticed a weird visual glitch on the menu when fullscreen? not sure if that was intentional or not, but it actually looked kind of cool.visual_glitch.png
Nice simple game! I like that it was clear what the controls were and how they were changing... although reverse controls after reverse controls confused me since I thought they would go back to normal. It is also weird that you keep moving while controls are frozen between levels which sometimes pushed me to the edge to start the next level. Nice death animation!
Cool game! I was thinking about making a rhythm game a first too but also realized that would be a lot of work for 48hrs. I like the music!
