I like the searchlight only revealing the items, works really well. Maybe a bit grindy, but a satisfying experience.

I really like the progression system in this, feels very satisfying to up your light and fuel! The sonar feels very atmospheric as well.
I had a fair bit of fun with this one, though there's certainly some problems as well. Once you've gotten your first few upgrades, it's near impossible to get any more. The radar doesn't show far enough out and it's almost always the most profitable just to nosedive instead of looking for anything. I think I got a turtle one time which was great, but other than that most of my fish got me next to nothing and took a lot of time to pivot around to grab. Overall though I actually did enjoy this entry quite a bit and would like to see how this concept could be explored more.
Yeah I like how things work but once I got a few things upgraded it seemed to take forever to make enough money to keep upgrading. I almost missed that I needed to go to the shop to do upgrades a first too and was wondering where I find more fuel under water. Nice art and UI!
This game was pretty fun and the art was cool. However the maneuvering was pretty difficult. Going right should flip the character, but instead you have to go upside down which makes things pretty difficult. Then when you find stuff on the radar, it's pretty difficult to grab them and I just ended up going in circles. And like @barelyevengames said, it's pretty difficult to make money for upgrades past a certain point at which point it's more profitable just to nosedive and go as deep as you can. Sadly I couldn't find the plastic bag. But still a pretty cool idea nonetheless.
*Turtles and tires are that big money.*
I actually played the game for quite a bit! But also got stuck at a certain point. After ~20 minutes I just about reached -1000 meters. Gameplay is fun, art looks nice! :-)
This is where I ended up; Knipsel.PNG
One idea I had was to make the good and ***J U I C Y*** stuff like the turtle and tires turn up yellow in the radar after a few upgrade. This will make them easier to find and collect that good money.
It's really impressive that you were able to make this game in the last ~12 hours in pure JavaScript and HTML/ CSS. I think that this is something that you can be really proud of.
Nice entry, keep it up!
@barelyevengames, @neonjeff, @forevertrash I really finished coding the logic up until the last minute. Most of the values I set for money gain & upgrade costs were pretty much placeholders I came up with on the spot without having time to test it. Sorry for that ;-)
@swen Nice, that's further than I ever made it without cheating :D That's a nice idea for the radar. I thought about adding the ability to disable the radar for certain types of fish/trash, but marking "special" items would also be interesting.
I've already spent some time fixing the upgrade costs and adding some other ideas I didn't have time for. I'll post a link in the coming days / weeks.
And thanks for playing everybody!
Great work! The mechanic of diving and getting upgrades is pretty fun.
I think even some basic audio for immersion and feedback for pickups would go a long way!
It starts out well with some easy to get upgrades, but after that it does feel a bit grindy and agree with what others have said that the balance between getting the small, plentiful items vs just diving seems off (ended up mostly just diving for points). I do like the sonar/flashlight mechanic though. It actually feels like you're diving in the deeps with limited information.
Cool graphics and idea, but the low starting fuel makes it hard to keep going. The spotlight mechanic is cool, but it doesn't combine well with the strict amount of fuel available.
I think a few small tweaks could go a long way, and then you could look into other things to add or enhance to build on what you have here!
Great idea. Played it for a longer time than i expected. Little bit disappointed, light mostly increases the length and not the width. On top of that straight diving is a bit too good. These are however all just small balance issues. The game itself is great.
nice "sub"-mission! the mechanics for diving are pretty interesting, though I found myself disoriented often. its cool. Spinning around while my fuel runs out and I meet a grim, watery death, that's fun too!
This was great, especially for the amount of time you had!
I liked the art and the progression system! It reminds me of a flash game called Learn to Fly that I used to play as a little kid. I do wish the progression played out a little bit faster though.
