A surprising amount of diversity in the enemy types for a jam game, I especially like the skeleton even with dev-art his behavior is quite clear. the level geometry makes him a right pain to get past when you first encounter him though.
Music ios good, the GameLoop kills it.Nice Idea.Really Novel.Yet there are some bugs and glitches.But for 48 hours this is amazing.Wopuld love to see a full version :)

Not sure if intended but in the first few levels there is no check if you are on the ground for jumping so you can just fly.
I dig this. The music is good. The game itself while being a little slippery is actually pretty good although I will say as a general tip the platform effector you are using for your one way playforms blocks movement into a platform horizontally which makes it really had to jump in some areas. The quickest fix for this I've ever found is just to change the degrees of collision on the platform from 180 to something like 160 that way the player can still walk through the platform if you have it at head height. This is all assuming that was unintentional so feel free to disregard it. Also your sprite work has a certain charm to it. I think it comes from the fact that its so self consistent that it give it a sort of style rather than making it look ugly or disjointed.

@dr-v there actually is a check, it's just that the background is on the same layer as the ground.
For some reasone player controller feels diffrent on diffrent levels, if you want to update gameobject quickly across many instances, just make player into a prefab (drag player game object into the project window), your pixel art is blurry, just go to your sprite and change filter mode to Point(no filter), and Compression to None, also player gets stuck on the walls, just create a physic material with no friction and drag it on player rigidbody, there are a lot of really tight jumps player needs to make, which just doesn't really feel good, a jump control (longer you press, higher the jump) would also work really nice

@noeloskar thanks for the advice! the reason the player controller feels different is because the jump height is deliberately higher in some levels (6 instead of 5, usually)

Some artificats on screen where messing up the objects. Inital music was ok but on scene 2 it was too loud. I dig the platformer style with the timing of the enemies. Good job.

Good audio and mood. I would have liked to see a mechanic related to the theme, not just a framing device. The concept that each level is deeper does not affect gameplay, and platformers are already very difficulty to make without some cool twist.

the loss of flying made it much harder... also the skeleton on the 3rd level is taller than the step above him I think? it kept killing me on it after going over him so I'm not sure how to pass that level. Nice art though! One way I've used so you don't stick to walls is to add a Physic material with 0 friction on the walls.
I liked the overall theme. No one is stopping me from delivering pizza to Dracula!!! .... Except the skeleton who would only turn around if I jumped.

@pookipoot The idea is that the skeleton guards if you're close to the same level as him, there's a platform low enough to avoid triggering him in both levels

This reminded me a lot of an old DOS game called [Dangerous Dave](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dangerous_Dave). Jumping mechanics are silly and unintentionally funny. Love the art. Cool that the music changes.

@Pe7e funny story actually, i was gonna make the game kinda like celeste where you could climb the walls, just not with the pizza In hand, but i didn't know how to make the pizza move in that way so i scrapped it.
also I don't have any way to make the walls frictionless

Good game. Lots of littles things here and there that could be improved, the "wall sticking" doesn't seem intentional (you probably don't check to see if there's a wall when you apply the movement do you ?), the musics loops could be a bit longer, the skeleton-man closes his eyes only during the first level with him and I got softlocked at the start of the level with a big red platform to the right (some object fell from the sky through the level and I couldn't move), but the game works pretty well.
Lots of work seems to have done to get more diversity, be it ennemies or music, that's pretty different from every other game I've played today, it's very refreshing ^^.

@marasu the wall sticking is not intentional, as for the skeleton, either the animation doesn't work correctly, or I forgot to put the animator on the other skeletons. oops.
as for the softlock, I'm not sure what that's about, but there's only two levels with those red platforms so I'll look into it
Nice game! But I feel like maybe if the music was more scary, it would have fit the theme better. I love the idea and innovation of the game! :)

Really good and varied enemy design. I wish the platforming controls were tighter, the difficulty curve was more gradual, and the levels made better use of space. I love the concept though, I wish I could rate it for humor!

:heavy_check_mark: The track is good, although in two of the levels it glitched out and there was no sound at all.
I always love me some Pizza and some Vampires, so the mix naturally has to be great! :pizza: 🧛
:x: Many enemies were outright glitched :laughing: Some didn't do any damage at all, making you think they're harmless, only for them to kill you in the next level.
The moving platforms are waaaay too slow. It's particularly painful in the vertical level where you have to use many of these to get up :slight_frown: .

i probably just forgot to add music/hitboxes in the levels where they're glitched, I didn't get time to test the game. so that's my bad.
Nice idea for a game and a good take on the theme! Plus pizza makes everything better so nice work!

really cool game! a little bit hard to control and sometimes i couldn't jump thru the platforms when i should have been able to. funny that both our games had a similar concept tho lol! good job! :)
Question! How much does this job pay? Follow-up question. Do I get medical and dental if I get bitten? I will need treatment for the wound and a good dentist for the new fangs. ;) I like the humor on the grave stones (whether the spelling of some of the names was intentional or not I think it adds charm to the game) and I like the art work. Just wish I could throw pizzas to distract the undead or use pepperoni as throwing stars to attack them ;)

@prodigalson there were plans to be able to throw the pizza, like how it works in celeste, but i didn't know how to do that. the spelling on the gravestones is mostly to obscure the references. thanks for the feedback!

The idea is very good, but there are few things to fix. I know its a bit hard to do in 48h, but just for the future: you can reduce the colision of enemies or player. Also check the tilemaps colision, but the game is good, congrats ;)
This was a pretty solid entry, but a couple things I noticed were that I got stuck against walls quite a bit, like I would jump and then was just sort of floating against the wall until I moved away from it. Also, the music was a little repetitive as well. Still, pretty good entry, and I agree that I was kinda hoping for a different them to win. But that's the fun of Ludum Dare, you work with the theme you're given and go from there :smile:
I like the art for this one, it has a very fun quality to it! I like the speed of restarting it really helps the player stay in the zone. As far as criticism goes, I think the platforming needs some more work (I also got stuck on walls at in-opportune times as it seems many others did and felt the hitboxes were a bit too punishing) and the music loops a bit too quickly. It seems like you had a neat idea, just didn;t have time to execute on it, I hope you'll put some more work in after the jam!

It's a fine game that have a lot of different types of enemies which is nice. But I think the game could be a lot more fun if there was done some more work on the moment. Stuff like holding jump makes you jump bigger and probably making the controls less floaty. I don't know if it is intendment by it almost feels like a wall grab you can do by going into the wall, which is nice, but it does not look like it is intended.

Nice entry. Basically Super Meat Boy with more vampires and less wall-jumping.
I really like the restart speed, it makes deaths less frustrating.
Cute graphics and background art!
I felt the controls were a bit tricky to get used to, and it was sometimes difficult to judge when I was going to collide with an enemy while trying to squeeze between them.
Also the idea of going to deliver a pizza to Dracula is great. Well done!

@kooky touching an obstacle actually just teleports you to the start of the level, if you touch a ghost it will also reset the ghost
