LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Burry this… Thing by LeReveur 2021-05-03T11:39:04Z

I enjoyed playing your game, it's definitely something different and well executed. Congrats!

Vast Trivia Of The Void by JorgeGameDev 2021-05-06T16:18:55Z

Really awesome art. I would love to see a multiplayer version. Congrats!

Dungeon Blast by Yword 2021-05-17T12:33:36Z

This is one of the best games I played on this jam, congrats!

The only thing I don't like is that damaging yourself doesn't turn your invulnerable for a while, which I think it's kind of the usual.

Falling down from above by Sublustris 2021-05-12T10:34:34Z

Great game! Awesome art. I agree with other comments: it could be a bit easier (keep in mind, in jams it's always better to aim to something easy to play instead of ending with a really hard game).

I think the gameplay could be expanded a bit adding some bubbles with movement?

BTW, keep in mind that you should opt-out from Audio ratings if you didn't create the music.

Anyway, congrats for your submission!

Deeper n' Dipper by GameDevExtreme 2021-05-03T10:45:07Z

Great art style! I think the pixel backgrounds looks good behind the drawn characters (not sure about the tiles, to be honest).

Congrats, it is a nice submission!

Descending by khofez 2021-05-17T13:00:31Z

Amazing game! I felt some Blasphemous vibes, really cool mood. The gameplay could be polished a bit more, but you have a nice base. The web version works a bit laggy and sometimes only played the music (this was maybe related to changing it to fullscreen, but I'm not sure).

Monkey Quest by paulloz 2021-05-09T18:20:25Z

Incredible polished game. The art is just lovely. Congrats!

Falling For Treasure by Laaph 2021-05-10T10:15:33Z

Nice submission! I think the movement is too slippy and that makes it hard to play. The sounds in general are really cool.

Congrats!

Deepeth Woods by colapolka 2021-05-06T16:30:34Z

Cool aesthetics and effects (like the scroll of the screen). The gameplay could be polished a bit more, but it's ok in general. Congrats!

Space Trench Miner by notime4games 2021-05-13T21:23:16Z

Pretty good and solid game! The escape mechanic (waiting for the rope/hook) is a nice touch. Congrats!

Deep Learning Simulator 2021 by smbe19 2021-05-05T10:51:54Z

Interesting game, congrats! I think you could add some in game tutorial to explain each pill, it was a bit hard to understand without the description.

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-04-29T21:24:20Z

Great submission, amazing art! The player control is pretty fun. Also it feels really polished, congrats! I would just check for the checkpoints (it's really frustrating to do big chunks if you died a few times), or maybe adding some kind of health system.

Diacombs by aeveis 2021-05-07T23:12:07Z

Great game! Loved the art and the idea, it's a really nice implementation. Congrats!

Poly Typo by pjnovas 2021-05-12T10:30:20Z

Nice idea, solid submission! It doesn't feel too hard, which is great for a jam game. The only basic change I would do is adding some animation when you hit the word (like showing the full word in green and then fade both the word and the ring/figure).

BTW, please go and rate other submissions to get more ratings/feedback, you still have a few days to go and it's definitely doable.

Congrats!

Anatomically Correct Human by Evan 2021-05-06T17:30:19Z

Great idea, good submission! It was a bit hard to understand, but it was pretty fun after that. Congrats!

Infinity Dive by keepee 2021-04-29T22:02:52Z

Amazing game, it feels great when you understand what to do. Congrats!

Financial Depths by joh 2021-05-06T16:51:29Z

Great take on the theme! I had some issues with the UI scale on Chrome on macOS, but it was fun to play. Congrats!

Financial Depths by joh 2021-05-09T11:08:16Z

@joh yeah, it's working fine now!

Let's Go Deeper by Deozaan 2021-05-04T17:38:03Z

Nice submission! I liked the idea but maybe it should be shorter, or at least the latest mechanics should appear sooner.

depthscraper by lexi 2021-05-12T21:15:23Z

Nice idea and great execution, congrats!

> Retrieve Legs by UC101 2021-05-06T16:42:30Z

Funny mechanic and nice implementation. Good submission, congrats!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-29T13:18:18Z

Amazing game, lovely art and animation! The mechanics are nice but feel just a bit frustrating sometimes.

Exiled by ladybenko 2021-05-05T12:44:19Z

I loved this game! Nice idea, art and music. Solid execution. Congrats!

Codename::GreyHat by Train27 2021-04-30T21:59:45Z

I really like it (and I'm not a big fan of text adventures), congrats! Didn't have any major issue with the WebGL version. The only thing I would add is the full history of commands (or at least more than the last one). Oh, and maybe a tab for autocomplete hah.

LAYERS by Le Slo 2021-04-29T22:15:41Z

Amazing game, it feels incredible to play! Congrats!

I would try to improve the tutorial to explain a bit more about the game, mainly the score system (maybe avoid going deeper with all the interactions but doing a few more rounds without all the tiles? I'm not really sure).

Dante's Harvest by Wakobu 2021-04-30T10:57:32Z

Congrats, this is a great submission! The art and aesthetics are great.

I agree with some other comments: it's too hard. Enemies are hard to beat and souls are hard to harvest, so it's a bit frustrating to choose between fighting enemies and getting more souls (which is also hard because they spawn far away from the wain). Maybe the souls could be harvested with just one hit? Maybe adding some time between _waves_? (at first I said "hey, this is a tower defense!" and then I was really surprised about not having _waves_ and time between them hah).

Don't Drown by eusekerci 2021-04-29T10:52:54Z

I loved it, great submission!

Rooted by Webox 2021-04-29T22:29:36Z

Quite enjoyable game, nice art and aesthetics. Congrats, great submission!

The Last Spores by pestodesign 2021-05-07T23:04:35Z

I really liked this game, the idea is great and the art feels awesome (sadly there's no music).

I also think you did a nice job with the "tutorial", the only thing that I didn't get was the ability to select any previous node again to create a new path (I had to read the instructions because it was weird to me that never kept the last one selected haha).

Even though I never was near to win it, I think you have a solid base for a game, just need some balancing (something I learnt from previous jams is that it's better to have an easy game that a real hard one, so if you're running out of time or don't have anyone to do play testing, just make it easier).

Once again, great game. Congrats for your submission!

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-05-05T22:29:52Z

Wow, this game is incredible! One of my favourites from this jam so far!

It's amazing how much content did you managed to put in this. I loved the art style and the implementation. The monsters are great.

As some feedback, I struggled a few seconds trying to understand where do you get upgrades/defend the dome. Maybe some text indicator for the first use could be nice. Also, after dying one time, the second run was darker (like if some light value was not reset properly).

Once again, congrats!

Edge of Space by Marc Grabow 2021-05-16T13:46:58Z

Nice game! I think you have a good base to polish as a post jam version.

Some assorted feedback: - The controls are a bit weird (because you aim with the mouse but then move fixed with WASD). - The next wormhole is usually pretty close to your origin. - Sometimes you have enemies too close to your new spawn point. - The camera is sometimes unreliable (specially when going down).

In general it's a good submission, congrats!

Masseuse you Loose by ColeSlaughter 2021-05-08T19:35:44Z

Incredible fun game, great submissions. Congrats!

Micronaut by healthire 2021-05-13T18:55:47Z

Wow, this is an awesome game with a great idea and a solid execution. The technical details look amazing too, incredible for a Compo. Congrats for your submission!

Through Hell (Traveling soulsman 2) by Angry Squirrels 2021-05-07T22:52:04Z

The art is so cool and cute! Great submission, congrats!

The Fall of Alice by kr4ft3r 2021-05-05T10:24:17Z

Nice submission, interesting concept!

Yerlik by gord10ahmet 2021-05-08T15:37:43Z

Great game, I loved the aesthetics! The progression feels cool. Congrats!

Under Pressure by OadT 2021-05-17T12:12:30Z

Really cool submission and nice idea. Congrats!

Mariana Mining Co by ownedstuff 2021-05-03T11:10:51Z

Nice game, good submission!

As some feedback, try to make the UI bigger (looks like it's not scaling properly) and maybe adding some pulsing effects to show important information (like when you're running out of oxygen).

Sleepie Cookie Eatie by fiaKaiera 2021-05-01T18:19:08Z

I loved this! It feels really good, and the art and music are great. Congrats!

Just as a small feedback, I think sometimes the camera should show a bit more of the upcoming terrain (I shoot blindly a few times hah).

INTO THE FRAME by Gaming Night 2021-05-03T13:14:07Z

Wow, this is an amazing game, congrats!

Undermined by Alex Davies 2021-05-12T21:46:07Z

Great game, very polished! Congrats!

ChronorhC by NikorasuChan 2021-05-06T19:52:34Z

Nice game and pretty interesting mechanics, congrats!

Autumn Hike by Brusi 2021-05-05T09:32:42Z

Wow, I loved this game, definitely one of my favourites from this jam.

Just to mention some good stuff: the lovely art, the cool zoom in/out animation and the cute story.

Congrats!

DeepO by Rodrysson 2021-05-05T22:41:40Z

Lovely game!

I really enjoyed playing it, everything from the art to the controllers is great, congrats!

Callous by MateusBoga 2021-05-07T23:27:49Z

Great aesthetics and take on the theme, it was really a touching experience. Congrats!

Fishing the Depths by aplite 2021-05-14T15:32:29Z

Nice game! I just felt the progression was a bit slow, that could be improved for a post jam version.

Congrats for your submission!

LuK-2000 and the Fragments of the Past by Avzgui 2021-05-01T10:36:49Z

Nice game, loved the art and general aesthetics! I had a few issues with the rope (like if it was stuck at the same level of the player) but other than that it's pretty enjoyable, congrats!

Moley Maze by tigerj 2021-05-03T11:04:10Z

Nice game! I loved the work on the mole sprite (having the shovel on its back, etc).

I would recommend adding more keys to the controls, using S to dig and something like J/K/L to attack (so you can keep one hand for WASD and the other to attack).

Below the Ocean by Ismael Rodriguez 2021-05-04T12:40:33Z

This is definitely the best game I played on this jam. Congrats!

UnderwOtter by pixelbug 2021-05-13T11:23:48Z

Nice game! I like the mechanics and implementation.

I wasn't able to finish it (I felt like the order to pick everything was too defined or maybe just the upgrade path, I'm not sure) but I had a fun time! Maybe you could add some small coins spawning near the surface on every reset? That way, if you're having troubles to get something valuable, at least you can try reaching the next upgrade by collecting those coins.

Anyway, congrats for your submission!

Drill by Laurari 2021-05-16T13:27:29Z

I really enjoyed playing this game, the main mechanic was pretty easy to understand and control. The art and music are great too.

If you're thinking about a post jam version, maybe you could add some enemies. Also, I think this could really work in a 9:16 aspect ratio as a mobile game

Congrats for your submission!

Donut Chat by Colletto Gregory 2021-04-28T14:16:41Z

Nice submission, interesting concept! It felt a bit weird when I got to some end for the story (I think?) but didn't have any visual clue about that.

Depths of the Library by Klaus Peter 2021-05-16T13:35:13Z

Fun game, congrats for your submission!

Tower of Darkness by Benjamin123 2021-05-13T19:12:41Z

Nice game! I had some issues with the attack not responding to the input and the camera following the player from behind (instead of showing more information about what's coming), but overall it is a good submission. Congrats!

BLU by JGUR 2021-05-07T23:20:40Z

Great game, I loved the light revealing stuff. I feel like it's a bit hard to harvest the elements, I don't feel it's clear enough that you have to be on top of it to do it.

Anyway, it's a really nice submission. Congrats!

Research and Rescue by Kaleido 2021-05-09T17:45:51Z

Your game looks really good and the music is amazing. I agree with the last comment about the need of balance on the gameplay, however I found it fun to play. Congrats!

Power Station Beta by Dock Frankenstein 2021-05-05T22:12:12Z

I played the web build from itch.io, so I assume it's the jam version.

I really liked the atmosphere, but I couldn't pass the first elevator. I don't understand if I need to dodge the blue things (which is really hard on that small place) or what.

However, I think the idea (from what I imagine and read from other comments) is cool, so keep working on it. Congrats for the submission!

Power Station Beta by Dock Frankenstein 2021-05-06T08:34:57Z

@franciszek-pyrc sorry, I just tried again and I think I choose some words poorly, because the game is full of elevators haha. I meant the first elevator with a yellow triangle on top, like the first one (probably) that you need to manually activate.

Quick Scrap by Vimlark 2021-05-07T22:47:02Z

Very fun game, the player controller was a bit tricky but satisfactory to use. Congrats!

Going Down in Fishstory by Jonas Tyroller 2021-05-06T17:59:16Z

Really cool game. I had some troubles trying to destroy the walls, I'm not sure what was going on with the collisions, but in general the controls felt pretty nice. Congrats!

Lord of Mine by JustusPan 2021-04-28T14:24:44Z

I loved the combat system! I think you created a great base for something bigger, keep working on it!

Deep Sea Mining by Ausstein 2021-05-13T11:30:19Z

Great game, nice art! I had fun playing it, congrats for your submission!

Dikes & Polders by nsadie 2021-05-06T17:00:14Z

Nice and peaceful game, congrats!

The Final Frontier by BinaryPrinciple 2021-05-13T21:20:02Z

Nice game, I had fun playing it! The camera perspective looks really good. Congrats!

The Final Frontier by BinaryPrinciple 2021-05-16T13:20:32Z

@binaryprinciple I think we both had the same idea about the perspective instead of going full 2D hah, I'm glad you liked ours too!

Submersive by deadmanjw 2021-04-30T10:35:46Z

This is nice submission, hope you find time to finish it for a post jam version! The 3D models are great (specially the ones at deeper locations). I would try to add some _water sounds_ and maybe even some quiet music.

Now you see me by Haiyoooo 2021-05-10T10:01:46Z

Great art and solid game, congrats!

Nav's Endless Nightmare by Zizhen96 2021-05-09T18:37:28Z

Amazing art! I think the setback after being hit by an enemy is too long, it kind of breaks the flow in my opinion.

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-05-03T12:17:29Z

I really like this idea! I think you could add a cool down for the fire button, to make it more challenging.

Deep in sh... by kwaku 2021-04-30T13:33:45Z

Lovely art and music! I struggled a bit with the controls, but it's a great submission.

Red Archer by BadPiggy 2021-04-30T13:26:12Z

I really enjoyed playing this game (once I started to use the slow motion a lot), it's a great submission!

Maybe, for a post jam version, I would add some combo system and limiting the slow motion time (this way you aim the player to use the slow motion but also make it something that needs to be managed).

Halt by Teto 2021-05-14T11:30:53Z

Pretty cute game, I enjoyed it! Congrats!

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-04-29T21:52:24Z

Pretty interesting idea, nice take on the theme!

Super Base Jumper by madbookstudios 2021-05-13T21:27:49Z

Really cool submission! I had fun playing it and enjoyed the learning curve for the glide/parachute mechanic. Congrats!

Into the Deep Web by Jon Topielski 2021-05-02T19:38:05Z

Really cool game, congrats!

If you have plans for a post jam version, I would suggest to apply the selected ability to the upcoming dice when you tap it (leaving the option to drag it for others strategies).

The Lift by Nuanda79 2021-05-12T11:32:06Z

Pretty interesting game but sadly I found the cable puzzle too unfair to feel fun. Nice art and mood building!

Deep Breaths by Patsui 2021-05-01T10:43:34Z

Lovely art and nice mechanics, congrats!

Dongeons & Potions by Revetoon 2021-05-08T19:38:58Z

Great game! Lovely art, nice idea and really solid implementation. Congrats!

Deep Exploration by aposs 2021-05-03T11:19:45Z

Nice submission, great ambience!

As a small improvement, I would make the smallest circle of light a bit bigger, because it's like playing blind.

Into the Abyss (Deeper and Deeper) by JoskerDu 2021-05-03T11:34:59Z

Nice game, loved the art but struggled a bit with the controls. Congrats!

Falling Rock by snip_man 2021-05-01T10:30:04Z

Nice and fun experience, congrats!

Khazads by vsi- 2021-05-04T12:16:59Z

This is a nice submission! The art is definitely great.

I think there're a few roughness that could be improved for a post jam version (for example, I didn't realize I could hurt the enemies with the pickaxe, because when I tried nothing changed until they died) but it general it's pretty solid, congrats!

PANEMUAN by etrealjunior 2021-05-08T16:08:52Z

Lovely art, it was pretty moody and it definitely touches _a thing_ on these times. Great submission, congrats!

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-04-30T11:10:53Z

This is an incredible game, congrats! It's pretty relaxing but still have challenge and fun. I loved it!

Refrigerator Rampage by RichardK 2021-05-17T12:17:31Z

Nice submission! I really liked the audio. The fixed camera was a bit annoying sometimes. Congrats!

The Deepest Space by Robotex 2021-04-30T11:14:30Z

I'm pretty bad playing this kind of real-world-space-physics games hah, but it feels pretty good!

I would try to make things easier at first (somehow) to flat the difficulty curve.

I'm 14 and by Krac3r 2021-05-08T16:15:43Z

First at all, you definitely created something amazing for being 14, so keep pushing on that!

The take on the theme is very creative, which is always a nice thing for jams. The player controller feels good too.

Hope to see you again on next jams, congrats for your submission!

Swing Shroom by Quite Good 2021-05-02T19:29:51Z

This was a really nice and smooth game, congrats!

As a small feedback, some jumps felt a bit like leaps of faith (maybe you could fix this by allowing the player to move the camera a bit).

Debts and Pandamonium by Cyzaine 2021-05-06T17:20:44Z

The characters look amazing, congrats!

Haunted Pizza Delivery by msipp27 2021-05-06T17:16:25Z

Great submission, specially for Compo, congrats!

Fat Larry at the All-U-Can-Eat buffet by mariszin 2021-05-10T10:08:40Z

Nice game! I really liked the take on the theme but it was a bit confusing at first because I was going deeper on almost every piece of food I got, so I didn't feel that "hey, you need to look for more food to keep going" (which is pretty clear a few levels after). Maybe you could just increase a bit the minimum weight for the first few levels.

Overall a cool submission, congrats!

Deep in the ocean by xicoizquierdo 2021-05-04T17:18:44Z

Nice game! I think the art it's great. The SFX could have a bit less of volume. It's fun to play.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended behaviour, if I go quickly to the bottom, I lost. I think it could be nicer if you just move the camera quickly and make the player face the consequences of moving too fast (hitting enemies that they couldn't see earlier, for example).

The power of the deep by Tris250 2021-05-02T22:47:14Z

Nice game! I liked the mechanic of balancing between life and mental, and how losing mental affected the experience, it was a really cool touch. Congrats!

Journey to Atlantis by Kotzi 2021-04-30T16:19:19Z

@strangeryann thank you so much! Sadly we don't really have too many extras/insights to share with you, it was a well paced development with almost no early stages.

Good luck with the stream!

Journey to Atlantis by Kotzi 2021-05-05T10:17:17Z

@phlebas the flashlights allow you to flip a card before moving to it (you need to select it in order to use it). I think we definitely failed with the communication there.

@kr4ft3r yes, the transitions could be way smoother, I just realized that. Thanks for your feedback!

@franciszek-pyrc thanks for your feedback! most of the things you said were left out of scope sadly, but we'll keep them in mind. BTW, I want to play your game too but don't have any Windows at the moment, hope to do it soon!

Thanks everyone for playing it!

Journey to Atlantis by Kotzi 2021-05-06T18:01:27Z

@msipp27 we tried to keep the balance simple, we kind of have that idea in mind but didn't make it in time. Thanks for the feedback!

And thanks everybody for playing, rating and commenting it!

Journey to Atlantis by Kotzi 2021-05-09T17:35:17Z

Thank you all for the feedback! We're already working on a post jam version :rocket:

Journey to Atlantis by Kotzi 2021-05-18T08:42:45Z

@oadt battles are random in both cases, but with the harpoon you got like 80% chances to win. Also we're doing some adjustments for the post jam version to reduce the sensation of the RNG even more.

Thank you all for the great feedback and your nice comments

Drill Sergeant by GoldOne 2021-05-17T12:41:12Z

Nice game! Probably you wanted to add a shop and use the money for that, but didn't make it on the scope of the jam. I think you could even add some turrets or drones to help you out.

Congrats for your submission!

Into The Depth by Szymon OGD 2021-05-13T11:12:21Z

Nice game! I think it's a cool baseline to add more stuff (like power ups or more enemies). Congrats!

Graphite Journey by pnkvrt 2021-05-13T13:11:30Z

Lovely art and solid game, congrats!

U-Bot by fargred 2021-05-05T10:38:36Z

Great first submission, congrats!

Future Ants by TheTimesweeper 2021-05-03T11:30:48Z

Nice idea, it was pretty relaxing to watch.

Deep Sleep - The Sandman by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-05-05T10:56:00Z

Great game! I enjoyed playing it and loved the effect when vanishing ghosts or the other things. Congrats!

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-05-06T17:07:58Z

Incredible art, music and aesthetics. Great submission, congrats!

CURSED QUEST by Freezerbot 2021-05-13T21:34:24Z

I love everything about this game but the gameplay feels like it could have a bit more of polish and balance (like the movement of the player and the enemies). But I think it's an amazing submission, congrats!

Damn, that's deep! by Falke 2021-05-03T11:25:20Z

Interesting concept, I had some issues with the scroll while pressing up/down, but it was fun to play.

Deep Sea by Phlebas 2021-05-05T09:59:11Z

Really nice game, congrats! Loved the art and atmosphere.

As some feedback, I would try to make it a bit shorter (like having less time between each item) and definitely uploading to somewhere (like itch.io).

MinerClicker by eps 2021-05-01T10:04:11Z

Nice game! Good scope for a jam, congrats!

Psychology of the Depths by saintchristopher777 2021-05-05T11:07:58Z

Great game! It took me a bit to understood it (even after reading the tutorial hah) but eventually it was good to go. Congrats!

A Frogs Tale by Gorethumb 2021-05-04T13:24:46Z

Really nice art style! I had a bad time figuring out the diagonal jump using the dash, and it's kind of weird that you cannot see your own HP during combat

Anyway, it's a good submission, congrats!

Deep into the vibe by Ariorick 2021-04-30T10:24:59Z

Great submission! I loved the aesthetics and the music.

Maybe you could try to make a bit more clearer where the sides are going to end? I think that, at some point, my brain understood that but at first it was a bit frustrating.

Did you consider trying this as a mobile game? I think it could work (and shouldn't be too hard to try, at least on Android, with Godot). It's a bit sad that they still have those bugs with the sounds on the web exports.
