Aww I loved it! What a neat game. I love the platforming and the breath mechanic; at first I wondered if it would be easier to just refill breath as soon as you enter a bubble, but I think it was an excellent choice to "pause" the player, so they could have time to think :) Really great mechanic and feeling. Great take on the theme. Good job!
Edit: The parallax in the background was subtle but such a great visual addition

Wow, this is a gem. Doubling the air as your dash is super fun. Honestly I personally struggled remembering the text message that was displayed last to follow the story. I also found the dash being attached to the arrow keys rather than the velocity to be a little unintuitive.
All of that said, genuinely a great game. I had a blast and the art is amazing too.
Loved it very much, it is such a great game.
Wonderful game! Great graphics, but the mechanic was the best. I also liked how you depleat oxygen by dashing. Got me some time to figure out that you can dash in *any* direction^^

Wow! super good game! I love everything from the art style to the very unique mechanic!

Classic, well produced platformer with a solid connection to the topic. I wish it would be a bit less challenging, but it's just me. Great job anyway!
Nice game with good mechanics. Would be nice with checkpoints in the level and automatic refill of air inside bubbles.

Really fun game loop. Died a lot, but kept going because the level started over instantly. Great vibe all around.

A solid platformer entry, I absolutely enjoyed it. :v: Here's my feedback:
- Solid platforming mechanics - Great interpretation of the theme - Crisp, good-looking aesthetics and pixel art - Nice, therapeutic text in the transition levels - Well thought-out level design and difficulty curve
Overall, an amazing job! It was a pleasure to play it.
If you are into some constructive ideas, my tips to improve: - The controls are clean, except for doing diagonal dashes. I couldn't do those consistently, even though I tried to figure it out - Maybe some sound effects are too "sharp" if that makes any sense (the dash for example)
Anyways, glad to experience this game, thank you so much!
The atmosphere, music and pixel art are wonderful
Really nice neat game, focused and well executed. Lovely atmosphere, good controls and nice gameplay puzzles. Enjoyed it a lot.

The art style, animation and effects are so nice! Really nice gameplay as well, a brilliant example of easy to learn but difficult to master. Didn't get to the end this time but will definitely come back to try again, awesome job :)

Very nice game. Really love the the simple graphics. Such a cute character. I loved Celest and the dash function of Hollow Knight so this is the perfect game for me. Would be wonderful to play more levels in a followup version :)

Aw man, where to start. This game is snappy, beautiful and relaxing all at the same time. Loved the dash mechanic and the breathing in animation.
Super nice and very polished entry. Amazing job!

When I noticed you stood still when you breathed I immediately thought of using it in the air, and the later levels didn't disappoint! Absolutely fantastic work, no bugs, tight controls and good atmosphere!

Hey! I was about to give up at some point and then I realised that you can also breath while hanging in the air inside the bubble :) Very enjoyable game to play! Nice graphics, and music. I really liked those texts showing from time to time. This idea has definitely potential and it would be nice to see some continuation. Great job!!
Pros: - cute teeny weeny pixel graphics - those squishy sounds! - having to manage resource AND do platform challenges? NICE
Really cool!
Really beautiful game. I suck at it, but liked it very much nonetheless!

Fantastic game. Very intelligent level design that goes well with the mechanics and lovely graphics with fitting music. Very well done Only part I didn't like was the "dash outward to push." That was a little confusing and frustrating but other than that, very very well done!

Great job on the level of polish here! Everything feels very well made - The sound effects and visuals are both great!
I was playing on a keyboard, and I had a little bit of trouble getting used to jump and dash being mapped to the same button - I kept instinctively trying to hit X to dash rather than Z, but I have no idea why that was. I think I was having difficulty releasing then immediately re-pressing the jump button, without losing too much height.
Unfortunately (possibly because of my trouble with the controls), I ended up getting stuck here - No matter what I did, I couldn't get enough jump height to get through this hole. That said, this may entirely be my own lack of skill :)

Overall though, great job on the game! I had fun with what I was able to beat, and I really loved the atmosphere you created!
Really solid entry. Overall it's really polished and the gameplay is well thought. I was playing on the keyboard and had some troubles with the diagonal dash too. I also had a weird experience with the ressource management : * When i first started to play, i was playing using the browser on my desktop computer. Movement felt correct but i couldn't go past the first level. I was always out of air after landing on the platform between the spikes. * Then i tried downloading the game and it got worse. Movements felt slower, air management felt kind of the same. The character would on occasion run at normal speed and then randomly get really slow before going back to normal speed. * Then i started using my laptop, played on browser. And here it's normal speed and better air managemnent, could easily pass the first level with the air i had. But other than that, tthis game was... breathtaking. *badum tss* No but for real the atmosphere is great, the level design was fun &nd the graphics really set the mood. The breathing animation felt satisfying with the little screenshake added to it and it just shows the polish you did on this one.
Great job !
@koolruz Looking at the video what you are missing is that you can actually dash more times consecutively as long as you have enough air, so in that situation simply try to dash again after the first dash to reach higher! This is something that we didn't actually properly tutorialize and I can see how some players can have trouble with it, so thanks a lot for the feedback we'll take it into account for improving the game. Oh also thanks for the kind words :)

This is a really lovely game. Thank you for commenting on ours, as it brought me here. One of my favourites from the jam. Nice, tight and satisfying platformer controls, a cool mechanic, great audio, simple but enjoyable narrative and cute little pixel art. Provides everything you could ask for from a polished jam game. Great work!

I really love your game. You used the theme very well. The texts were very intriguing and graphics are so cute :)
Hey, I saw this game on stream, and it was fairly good! Great job, A bit difficult in some areas, but once you get the grasp of it, its great, seems pretty speedrunnable too

the jump sound is awful, it sounds like someone squeaking a balloon, I can't stand it
What an awesome entry!!! I loved this game so much that I want to keep playing it for much longer (please make some more levels). I loved the air depletion mechanic and the dash felt very responsive. I have to say that I at first played on the keyboard and it was not a pleasant experience but once I switched over to a controller, oh man, that was a whole new world. I'll leave here some things you might want to improve:
- When you want to push the enemies away it feels like the area from where the dash affects them is a bit to short. Maybe consider making it bigger.
- Sometimes, since the jump and dash button is the same, I dashed instead of jumping and died because of that, at first I thought mapping the dash and jump to different buttons would be a good idea but I don't think that anymore. Maybe a better solution would be to add some kind of coyote jump so if you are close enough to the ground it jumps instead of dashing.
- When you are in the intermediate levels where you get more points of air you don't deplete any oxygen. So maybe make it like you are in a giant oxygen bubble and have some different art there. I know it is the same as the actual levels due to being in a jam, lack of time, etc. but for the post jam version it would be cool.
- and lastly maybe tweaking the speed a little bit and the acceleration when switching directions. You know your business so I don't think I should explain further.
Overall this is such a great game and I hope to see a longer post jam version soon.
P.D. I think the jump sound was a neat choice and it sounds fantastic, I love it!
@northernhawk I love how you countered the previous comment complaining about that jump. Well done xD, and great feedback!

Super effective use of simple visuals! The fact there's a light parallax between the foreground and background layers is super impressive and looks so nice. I aspire to be able to flesh out the art in my next game jams as much as this XD

This is my favourite game i've played so far. Some serious Celeste vibes and thats my favourite platformer of all time so thats aweseome! In terms of improvments I think maybe a visual indicator on the enemy pushing mechanic would have been cool. Like maybe they light up when u can dash or they have an aura around them so you know when is close enough but not too close. As people of said making the underwater vs not underwater look and sound a bit different would be cool. maybe some ambient noise that gets ducked out when you go to the underwater bit. I thought the text fade and drift was a really nice touch that helped with the underwater vibes and the levels were really well tuned. Overall an awesome job. Well done!
This is one of my favorite game in this jam. The breath system is impressive, and level design is also funny! You guys did great job!
**This is my new favorite from this jam and I MEAN IT.** I played more than 70 games so far and none of them were able to create such an amazing atmosphere as this one. I would buy this on Steam, please do a full release!!! The mechanics are really fun, the story is well told and kept me interested through all the levels. The game comunicates to the player very well how the levels need to be done, and even though the game itself is pretty intuitive, the tutorials were very helpful and well placed. The graphics are simple but beautiful, the main character is so charismatic and cute. The mechanics are fun, simple to use and work really well... Oh man, I have nothing to criticize about this. Congrats for the art, the level design, the sound design, the programming, everything is superb here. Gave 5's all across the board.imagem_2021-05-04_033944.png
Nice game! A like the concept, and it's well implemented. The music is great, and the overall art too (although I'm still sure what the main character is supposed to be xD). Perhaps take down the volume of the sound effects? I think it's a little too much, specially the breathing, and over the music. Also, I suck at the game, but that's my fault xD

Heh, the mechanic with the air bubbles that you have to reach before you run out of air is quite similar to what I did in my own entry, but the rest of the mechanics are very different. Really fun and unique, the continued but limited dashing through the air (well, water) and the pushing away enemies by dashing in the opposite direction especially stood out to me.
You managed to create a really nice mood with the squeaky sound effect and the music. One small note though, you should probably opt out of the audio category since you used third party music. You'll have to send an email to Mike Kasprzak since you can't change this yourself after the fact.
hey @zathnic thanks for the feedback! We didn't opt out of the audio category since we made the sound effects and we wanted people to rate on that too

@alejandrodecea Yeah, but the rules say you have to opt out of a category if you use third party assets. There isn't really a good way in the current system to distinguish between people who made some of the audio assets themselves and people who made none.
I actually made the same mistake this LD, that's how I know this is how it works for sure. I made music myself, but used 3rd party sound effects, and at first I didn't opt out of audio. After someone notified me in a comment, I sent an email to Mike to clear things up, and he removed my audio ratings - I also made the suggestion that I could add a note in the description that people should only consider the music when rating audio. That didn't seem to be okay.
I could imagine that if you made a bunch of music, but just used like a single small 3rd party sound effect, as well as entered the Jam where the rules are a bit more relaxed, that there could be a gray area. But music is kind of a bigger deal in a lot of jam games, and this is definitely true for your game as well.
So, I'm quite certain that you should be opting out of audio, but if you're still unsure, you could just ask it to Mike as a question, rather than requesting outright for him to remove the ratings.
Really loved this! I imagine it as a great proof-of-concept for full-size game. I can imagine all sorts of good puzzles with this mechanic. All of the elements fit together really well. Very nice job!

Amazing game, very consistent and smooth controls. The graphics and sounds are brilliant. The mechaninc of to get breath inside the bubbles are awesome, very creative. I personally dont like those kind of games you have to aim to the direction you want to dash it. You guys have a very good game in hands, great job!

Really nice game! It controls well, is fun to play and nice to look at! Some parts were quite challenging.
I tried with both keyboard and controller and think I would have preferred dash on another key on the keyboard, but it made sense on the controller.

I loved the mechanics and the game design. The graphics are simple, and the music fits the theme of the game. I had difficulty playing on the keyboard, but I will be back to play with the gamepad. Congratulations to the developers.
