LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dungeon Blast by Yword 2021-05-17T11:27:17Z

Nice game! But really could use it's own music and sound effects (the short loop gets old really fast, and doesn't fully match the overall aesthetic of the game). Still, good job!

Monkey Quest by paulloz 2021-05-07T15:03:17Z

Nice game! I think it's in order some explanation at the beginning that you can't fight enemies and have to find ways to avoid/trap them. Also, since that's the case, I'm not sure the current spawning system is the better option (since you can run into an enemy at random, and in some cases there's pretty much nothing you can do. Also, on the idea of trapping them, perhaps they should move a little slower (and the shovel having a limited number of uses means you can't just go mindlessly digging, so you have to plan it carefully). The music and effects are nice (the monkey scream is a little too loud maybe), and the art is gorgeous! Overall, cool idea, and really well polished!

Aquarial by AidanMarkham 2021-05-07T15:22:01Z

Really impressive 3D work! I like the overall idea, specially for a longer game. The controls are a little weird right now, takes a little time to get used, and it still fells a little clumsy, but work fine. For the audio, I like the difference between under/over water, but it follows the camera, and not the fish (so you can make a small jump, before you get the special one from the eel, and the sound will not change). Also, the underwater ambience is perhaps a tad too loud? Not really sure about it. The game surely could use some gameplay music also. I like the dialogues overall, thinking that some gibberish or voice acting could add a little more to the game. I must confess I was expecting having to dodge the bigger fish when I got to the second part, nice to not having to deal with enemies in a short game. I like the score and animation idea of the end, with the game specs and all, and funny credits too, but not sure about the music (It's cool, for sure, and well done, and I get the idea, but still felt kinda wrong, but maybe that would feel different having another song in the same style during gameplay). Still, really really impressive!

Le bateau ivre by thebmxeur 2021-05-03T19:14:49Z

Cool concept! Also, really nice the ASCII art at the end, and looking at the .tga files I wonder how exactly you did that, but that's beyond whatever capabilities I have of reading code xD But nice anyway!

Holey Hell by managore 2021-04-29T04:30:59Z

Great concept, exceptional execution! I missed there being some background music, but still great little game!

Corpse Clue by nusan 2021-04-29T21:40:17Z

Simple but great aesthetics, I feel like it's something that deserves a place in a bigger game (kinda like a mini game). Nice job!

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-04-30T04:34:56Z

One of the most aesthetically pleasing games I've seen in this jam, and what a design! Would love to make some sounds for that!

LedgeFall by KshitijVSingh 2021-04-27T14:30:27Z

Wow, great game! And really hard, wish that Charon would leve me keep at least until I get the first upgrade /o/ But great job!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-29T02:17:20Z

I must confess, I love the idea and construction, however I couldn't get very far before it being so frustrating xD Still, really great work here!

Far Gone by TomBuston 2021-05-09T04:12:46Z

Wow, just wow. What an amazing aesthetic, really really impressive. And the audio, what a marvelous work, from the voice acting to all the effects and implementation, just wonderful. Out of curiosity: was it implemented through FMOD/WWISE? When hitting the name there's a bit of pitch shift/doppler if you move while the sound plays, and for a second I was hoping this was somehow a clue xD Really, very happy to have found this game!

Upset Crab by 43sam 2021-05-01T01:08:46Z

I liked it! Would change just the speed of the attack/recovery (it is a little too slow for the deflecting mechanic), and add a few more frames to the animation for a more fluid movement, but overall a great job!

Deep Cover by Silas Reinagel 2021-05-11T18:01:39Z

Cool game! Would love more variations on characters expressions, and sometimes the dialogues take some time to load (playing the browser version), but otherwise realy good job. And, amazing music, kudos to the composer!

What Swims Beneath Us. by DrunkardWolf 2021-04-29T21:32:13Z

I like the atmosphere, whish there was more to it than just descending until you run out of oxygen (like ways to get more oxygen, perhaps other dangers to avoid), but still a pretty solid game, nice!

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-04-29T05:56:44Z

Nice game! Could use a little more upgrades or objectives for the amount of resources you can get, but that's on me for digging pretty much the whole map xD The audio is ok, but the laser sound is too harsh (even download to check if it was the game itself or the browser version), I get the idea but not sure that's the best option. Otherwise, really solid game, congratulations!

The plot chickens by JPiolho 2021-05-05T04:11:31Z

I mean, the tittle alone should earn a trophy for best pun in LD48 (as far as I've seen). And the games follows the expectations as well! Really nice game, some great dialogue (including the pompous and rant ones xD), just missing some music and effects made for the game to really top it all. Really great job!

Bucket: A Space Odyssey by Carraka 2021-05-11T17:22:01Z

Wow, really impressive, and way more dense and complex than I was expecting! Nice idea, cool twists, well laid story and setting. I think the music is a little too much for the game (perhaps too teen adventure blockbuster xD), but that's me. The sound effects could use a little more work. Also, I was expecting a little more of the ending (did both of going into the BH and coming back), perhaps an specific art for the ending. Anyway, still a great game, and very impressive for such short time!

Tecta by techsec 2021-05-07T14:19:14Z

Cool idea! Pretty much a tabletop board game, but with a lot of automation to account for all variables, which is nice. I believe it would benefit greatly for a more in-depth look at the rules, and even a tutorial, so we could learn more about the rules with examples and how each type of building interacts in the game. Also, on the top left, the factions names could be colored as they will be present on the board, so we can identify a little better how they are distributed on the board. I like the idea of different arts for the residential area, could be applied to other buildings, but (and this is a personal preference) I would for for a cleaner art style. The music is nice, but I don't think it's very fitting for the game, for the setting I would think something a little more "futuristic". The sound effects could have a some variety (perhaps depending on the kind of building), and use a little more of working (and maybe also some ambience). Overall a very interesting project!

The Void by AMastryukov 2021-05-05T03:51:38Z

I'm thankful there was no jump scare at the end xD Nice game, it works pretty well but you need to play it fullscreen, otherwise the mouse will get out of the game. Also, could use a sound guy on the project, the effects are ok and the music is cool, but always better to have something done to the game. Anyway, great job!

DeepO by Rodrysson 2021-05-05T03:42:06Z

Nice game! A like the concept, and it's well implemented. The music is great, and the overall art too (although I'm still sure what the main character is supposed to be xD). Perhaps take down the volume of the sound effects? I think it's a little too much, specially the breathing, and over the music. Also, I suck at the game, but that's my fault xD

Me:Tree! - New Roots by Groggi 2021-05-05T03:29:17Z

Astonishing game! What a concept and execution, really amazing. I must confess I'm too eager most of the time and keep dying early, but surely want to follow on this and try it more. Also, the sound effects are okay, and the music is surely beautiful and sets a great mood, but it could go even greater with it's own sound design. Still, really great job!

Dream Catcher by Mykola 2021-04-29T02:29:35Z

Really fun game! The audio can get a little confusing and crowded when too many things happen (like spamming the space bar to slow down xD) so I would recommend adding some crossfade between sound events so they don't immediately cancel each other, but also don't play together all the time. Also, the swearing is kinda funny, however I feel it breaks a little too much the cute side of the game, so I think I would choose going "clean" and cute only, because the game is really really, great work with the audio and art!

enRoot by Linkwin 2021-04-29T02:45:21Z

Interesting art and ideas! Would like to see a full version as it is intended (I believe with full color for the characters, perhaps more frames of animation for movement). Also, I like de music, however I'm not sure it matches the spirit of the game itself, perhaps another style, something more towards magical and whimsical . But nice game anyway!

Below the Ocean by Ismael Rodriguez 2021-05-09T16:45:18Z

Short, beautifully executed, and what an amazing puzzle idea, really really well done! Also, I'm happy that I was able to get all 8 diamonds, so that's a plus xD Specifically on the audio side, really cool music and effects, they work greatly with the art. Congratulations on a great game!

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-05-01T01:05:50Z

Great game! The overall aesthetics is amazing (only thing I would perhaps change would be adding a little more variation for the music, maybe changing it based on how deep you are), solid gameplay. Only thing I was hoping was to find something special at the end, or it being a endless game, with many other upgrades, but this would be too much to ask in such a short time. But really, amazing game!

Ore Lord by dimlight 2021-04-29T20:03:14Z

Nice concept, a tad on the chaotic side with too much happening sometimes, but pretty fun, nice job!

Going Down in Fishstory by Jonas Tyroller 2021-05-10T01:04:16Z

Great game, well implemented, and the voice acting is really really nice overall. I'm not 100% sure on the change from something pretty cute to something dark and dense, as it did strike me a little too odd, but that's about my preferences and not something necessarily wrong. Anyway, good job!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-29T04:45:25Z

Great great game! Refreshing mechanics, and the music changing when underground is a really great touch! Was the audio implemented through FMOD or the EQ was programmed in game? Or it was 2 tracks playing simultaneously alternating? Really curious about that!

MIND LINKER by LanaLux 2021-05-13T01:09:30Z

Interesting concept. A few things: the text and voices don't match 100%, it's kinda strange. About the Beethoven on the start, I'm full for using him and many other classical composers, however I believe since a full original soundtrack would be better, perhaps more into electronic and all (and the same goes for the Concerning Hobbits that even heavily edited is still recognizable, and so would also be kind of a problem legally, so creating something the makes references too would be a better idea). Also, there was one dialogue that seemed to cut early, one of the last ones of the girl. Still, nice concept and cool voice acting.

Echoes of The Underworld by Lucas Félix 2021-04-29T01:40:00Z

I like the echo mechanics, but it would be better if (specially for the last boss) the echo worked more as a "target", where you must use it to navigate through a maze, but using it gives your current position (and then you have to echo and move or otherwise you'll be hit). Dark Echo (I believe you know it, if not I really recommend it) is a great implementation of this idea. The art is gorgeous, and nice atmospheric music (could have more variations through stages to give more urgency to the game).

Nav's Endless Nightmare by Zizhen96 2021-04-29T21:47:00Z

Nice aesthetic! The shooting sound could use some variation, since it pretty much take over all the sounds, and perhaps a little lower so we could hear more of the music. Also, seems a little too punitive, but that's one me playing badly perhaps xD Nice job anyway!

Tin Mining by rubenwardy 2021-05-01T03:30:23Z

Cool idea! Would really love to see it with full range of ideas (hazards, buildings, economy). And I really like the workers movement not being just straight lines, really adds a lot of movement and fluidity to 4x1 pixel characters.

Selkö by Doot 2021-05-05T03:18:22Z

Short and sweet! Pretty well implemented (would only ad some movement on the diver ragdoll to match all the movement around them), great mood, and an unexpected twist at the end! Would love a few more puzzles, but time constrains for sure. Also, there's no rating for sound, it's all from sound banks? It works really well, but surely would be better with it's own sounds, it surely deserves it!

GUNHOOK by 730 2021-05-03T03:11:03Z

Some great Doom vibes here, specially the music! Nice work!

Into the Deep Web by Jon Topielski 2021-04-29T21:12:55Z

Short, funny, could really use some chiptune soundtrack, but otherwise great compo!

What Happened in Addison's Grotto by Junebug 2021-05-09T22:51:34Z

I usually don't play games terror/horror games because I really get anxious, but oh boy, couldn't resist trying this one (but no phones, not a fat chance of going this far xD). And really happy that I did. As per TIPS part, yes, it would be nice to have more of a guide on the start so we understand exactly what to do (specially with the blurred words and all), but otherwise I think I got the grip of it. And really, amazing idea, and what a fantastic work on the voice acting, really really impressive, and also on the background music/effects, perfect for the mood. Also, *SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED IT YET* I'm really happy that there was no jumpscare (beyond the screams, but there's a clear build up to them), as there was no real need for it. Fantastic job, 5/5, would not play again because I intend to sleep well tonight xD

Blackout by Frasse 2021-04-30T05:24:15Z

Great game, really funny and nice dual art for dark/light scenes. Perhaps the voice sound effect is a little too high, compared to the music. Otherwise, really funny game!

One Dive Man by ofroes 2021-04-29T02:05:32Z

Jogo legal!

The Clownfish Home by crazyMouse 2021-05-07T14:05:45Z

Pretty simple but effective. For the audio, the game over fanfare is a little too loud (compared to the gameplay music), and it plays full even if you restart the game before it ends, so adding a fade to it as soon as you restart the game (if it is still playing) would be nice. But good job!

A Taste of the Past by Emily Pitcher 2021-04-29T03:45:24Z

Gorgeous game! Really impressed with the hand-drawn art style, really nice music, and great overall style. The walking animation is a little off (it really needs a specific drawing for the right-step, it doesn't cycle ok coming back to the start right now), and perhaps a little more detail on the background. Astounding work anyway!

Third Party by Duckonaut 2021-04-29T04:58:23Z

Well polished, great idea and execution! The music could have more variation through stages (and, nice touch with the elevator music). Overall really nice work!

Underneath by HumanIsRed 2021-04-29T04:14:56Z

Wow. Just wow. Didn't get to the end yet (stuck at the one full of reflective walls with 3 checkpoints), but had to say already: really great job. Fantastic idea, perfect art style, and really cool music and effects, really impressed. Three points I would perhaps change: more variations for the shot sound (since it really is the one important sound on the game, and you will hear it A LOT), maybe more variations on the music (I was already thinking "oh, the music could change" and then it changed when I passed through the stage and wen "niiiiice), and excluding the pause button because you can click it too easily when aiming through the screen (I even downloaded the game because playing on the browser was not cutting it). But really, amazing job, congratulations on the game!

Ariel Cleanomancer and the Eldritch Sweep by alyd asmar 2021-05-09T17:37:26Z

Nice puzzle game! Love the art, and an amazing work on the sound part! The new layers on the music as the game progress make an immense difference on the gameplay and overall mood (and really happy to learn about the Godot plugin!)! Oh, and the stranger looking hallways and trash too xD Really, great work!

Ludum Dare by She Wrote 2021-05-03T19:13:10Z

Nice twist, and surely not was I was expecting. Not sure about the importance of the actions on the second part (or even on the first), but I like the overall idea, nice job!

Awfully Good Pizza by beahives 2021-04-29T21:23:46Z

So, so, so silly. 9/10. xD

Infernal Jam by HiddenTavern 2021-05-11T17:34:16Z

Too real, man. Too real. 4/5, would do "a frog's tale" and blame you.

The Elevator by Redamz 2021-05-07T04:23:54Z

Nice game! I like the mood overall, and the first floor really helps do settle the "revelation" of the last floor. Was expecting it to go full Dante with 9 stops and order, but then it would be harder to pull the 69 joke as effective xD I would like a little faster pace just because, right now, I'm not really up to replay to try all the other possible endings, but still pretty enjoyable in a first run.

Untitled Submarine Game by eggland_games 2021-04-27T13:38:12Z

Nice game! Got stuck on an upward tunnel (collision on both sides), but it's well implemented. Hope it get some sounds later, it could ad a lot to the game!

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T22:04:06Z

Nice puzzle! Just was hopping for an end, for the backstory setup, but still pretty cool!

Kinda Deep by sagylel 2021-04-29T18:52:24Z

Simple, direct and effective, nice game!
