Reversyphus by mactinite 2021-05-09T01:35:02Z

Great puzzle design! I had heaps of fun, even though I'm terrible at puzzles. I'm always amazed at these games, designing puzzles seems super hard for my beginning game-dev brain

The overall aesthetic is very appealing to me. I like the pixel art, the sounds and the movement animations, it was all very well put together to offer a satisfying experience. Who knew that moving a little devil to push tiny boxes could be so meditative? I laughed out loud at the finale, so funny and charming  Surprisingly polished for a compo game.

I think the game could benefit a lot from an "Undo" button if you're looking to keep working on it. Overall, excellent compo entry, good job!

Within Yourself by impiaaa 2021-05-11T02:17:44Z

Pretty cool little puzzle game, the key + boxes mechanic gave it a nice twist. I especially like the transition between levels. The graphics were charming and straightforward, reminded me of old Windows games.

I'd play a bunch more, hope you keep working on it! Good job

Theodores Tumble by headchant 2021-05-11T03:05:33Z

Amazing work! I could see losing myself in search of treasures as Theodore for a long, long time. Sound, art and design work very well together to make a complete and polished experience that is definitely very impressive for a compo entry! The main character is super charming and charismatic, great job

Grafa by unpronounceable 2021-05-08T03:30:20Z

Super deep. I thought I was the greatest Grafa player of all time when I was able to clear the deck every time since my first try, then I looked at the amount of cards in my hand and thought "oh shoot, that's far from a perfect score". Played a few times and will definitely play it again. This is one of the best games I played in this jam so far, congratulations!

Deep Freeze Café by brian-mayberry 2021-04-30T02:05:02Z

I like it, super charming and funny, very experimental

Sprookies by tanis 2021-05-08T22:27:15Z

Great concept, fun and challenging. I love the sound / music, so funny! The only two things that deterred me from playing more were having to start all the way from the very beginning when dying and the fact that I got some motion sickness from the camera movement. Overall great entry, I hope you keep working on the game as this has great potential and it's very innovative. Loved it!

Bonfire: Darker and Darker by firellon 2021-05-07T04:53:03Z

A lot to like here! The gameplay loop is very appealing, I love the pixel art and the mood set by the graphics and sound. The way you were able to strip down the concept to a bare-bones version of this kind of game was admirable. The only criticism I have is that it might be too dark, even by day, so sometimes it's hard to see where the logs are. Amazing entry, especially for a compo game, congratulations! Hope you keep working on it

Adelie - Rolling in the Deep by Meep 2021-05-02T05:17:17Z

Super polished and complete, especially for a compo entry! I thought it was too hard at first, but once I (quickly) realized that you get more powerful as you progress, making the gameplay addicting and interesting, it all clicked. Great movement, graphics, animation and flow of action. The only nitpick I have is with the controls, I really wished it could be WASD instead of keys, but I understand this is a PICO-8 restriction. It's a well-rounded, well executed piece of gaming that I'd love to play more of.

I GOTTA SH!T by spyispie120 2021-04-29T05:20:26Z

So funny, nice gameplay! The controls on the web version are a bit glitchy, there's a tiny delay when pressing the space bar that makes it harder to time the jump. Great entry, I loved the art and music as well  :poop:

Ancient Maze (starring Mathilda Ayume) by Linky439 2021-05-01T01:40:08Z

Very well put together, masterful level design. Definitely had some punishing areas, but it never felt cheap or unfair. The only nitpick I have is that the player movement sometimes gets a bit imprecise and it's hard to know exactly in what "tile" you're at, which makes some specific sections a bit more frustrating than necessary. Art and sound are amazing, very pleasing for my nostalgic taste

Celestial Corruption by godsboss 2021-05-02T23:11:55Z

Great art, good controls, overall very nice entry!

A few thought points that might help if you're looking to improve the game in the future:

- It was hard for me to follow along the story as the text box covered a big portion of the screen. I agree with the general consensus that you should not have story text during the action, or at least have it not cover the gameplay. - Some bullets are too dark to see in the invasion part with the purple projectiles, which made me feel a bit cheated. If it's a design choice, I can get behind it, but then I suggest making that speciific stage / level a bit less crowded. - WASD + Space to move and shoot makes everything a bit cramped if you're using two hands, I wish the controls were arrow Keys + Space bar or WASD + Enter / Right Shift / something close to it.

Congratulations on making such a polished, complete experience for the Compo portion!

Diacombs by aeveis 2021-04-30T07:02:46Z

So cool! I like the art style, the mechanics and sound. I confess I had a really hard time even with the early puzzles — but that's mostly because I'm terrible at puzzle games  Very impressive, especially for a compo entry, congratulations!

acro bat by PaperAeroplane555 2021-05-17T21:24:35Z

Awesome little action puzzle platformer with good controls. I actually enjoyed the level design very much, it's hard, sure, but it didn't feel too unfair. The jump / glide mechanic is very creative, I'd love to see it in conjunction with other platformer mechanics. The 1-bit art is right up my alley, so I absolutely adore it!

What put me off a bit is the fact that the jump is only on "W". I think for this type of game it's important to have the jump key farther away from the left/right keys on the keyboard layout. I'd suggest adding alternative controls in arrow keys + Space bar if you're looking to improve the game in the future.

Overall very good entry, great job!

Untitled Bruce Game by icefallgames 2021-05-11T04:00:05Z

Superb execution of a very original idea! The puzzles didn't feel unfair and the level design made me want to keep pushing forward to explore each new mechanic that was introduced.

Please keep working on this game as it has a tremendous amount of potential. Excellent work!

RAMnesia by 100th_Coin 2021-05-16T21:29:58Z

This is a great experience, very polished and complete with amazing art. I'm very impressed that it's a compo entry! The puzzle mechanic was definitely a bit hard to figure out, but as many have pointed out, it just goes to show how unusual and creative it is. If you're looking to keep working on it post-jam, I think an in-game tutorial explaining the mechanics and controls might be necessary as the game goes way off the beaten path.

I also experienced the cropped screen issue on my Dell Inspiron 15 gaming notebook with a FullHD display running on GeForce 1050Ti, hope this info helps you figure out how to tackle the issue.

Awesome game, congratulations! :trophy:

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-28T00:35:01Z

Awesome entry, a bit too hard for my aging brain, but flawless design and art. Also, the camera gave me a bit of motion sickness, which never happens for me in 2D games.

The Descent by iovorobiev 2021-04-29T00:04:10Z

Very cool game, I love the story / theme and how you made it work with the mechanic. I'm super terrible at these games, so it felt way too hard for me, but to a puzzle fan, I'm sure it's a treat

MEGADRILL by Corny 2021-05-11T03:49:05Z

The mechanics are super deep (heh) and there is a lot of variety in the game loop. The graphics are amazing and there is A LOT to this game, I'm amazed with what you managed to accomplish in a compo entry! Please keep working on it. Great job!

Pagemage by OrbitalBlueprint 2021-05-07T02:48:21Z

This game is so good! It has a satisfying game loop, it's pretty hard but never feels unfair, there's progression and a learning curve. Add great pixel art and cool sounds and music on top of that and you got a hit! I'm impressed that you made this in 48 hours. Great idea, superb execution. Didn't feel unfinished at all!

If you're looking to add stuff to it post jam, I think it would be cool if there were some strategic decisions during the runs, like in a "choose your adventure" book, where you can choose your rewards / upgrades / shortcuts / enemies by going to different pages. I hope you keep working on it, I'm a fan!

Deep Cover by Liam 2021-05-02T23:58:40Z

Very fun card game with an innovative concept neatly tied together by an interesting, funny story. Would love to see more of it!

The only criticism I have is that I felt that my actions were rarely strategically impactful, apart from deciding when and how to defend, but this is not so important if the goal of the game is to focus on the narrative. I'm impressed on how you were able to "paint a picture" through gameplay. I hope you keep fleshing this game out as it has immense potential for a commercial title, great entry!

Speleo by H0pe86 2021-05-17T01:09:19Z

Very good art and music! I love that it's an action arcade-y game, but using tiled movement, gives it a different pace than usual. I think the hitboxes could be a bit smaller to make some section less punishing. Would love to see more of this game, hope you keep working on it! Well done :trophy:

Fallumns by Logan 2021-05-19T23:37:51Z

This game is bonkers good, you managed to experiment with gameplay concepts while still providing a fun experience to the player. Loved every second of it, it reminded me of There is No Game. :trophy:

Abyssal Lab by frankiesmileshow 2021-04-29T03:03:10Z

The game is stellar, especially for a Compo entry. I'm astonished by how polished and commercial-like this game looks and plays! Art, sound FX, gameplay, everything is flawless. The way you mixed exploration with the feeling of "building" something is masterful and got me hooked from the start. Please keep working on this.

Tooth Toss by MadNukin 2021-05-11T05:01:37Z

Fun, innovative and ultra polished.

The gameplay mechanic is not only very creative, but masterfully executed. The level / enemy design is on-point, offering the perfect balance between challenging and accessible. For me, that level of savory frustration when you find out *exactly* what you need to do to beat an enemy, but still have to go through the motions, is the purest essence of puzzle action games.

I don't believe I have any criticism in particular. There *are* a few quirks as others pointed out, such as the "sword soft-lock" and hitboxes being a bit off sometimes, but hey, this is a jam game, these are to be expected. This is a stellar achievement.

I'm eager to see where you take the game post-jam as there is an absurd amount of potential here. Excellent job, congratulations :trophy:

Kaibuturan by lilkrit 2021-04-28T23:48:06Z

I like the idea! The elixir mechanic is great. Congratulations on finishing it, I hope you keep working on the idea

Enter the Cubegeon by xatulu 2021-05-18T01:13:53Z

I love the concept and the aesthetic! Would love to see more upgrades and maybe a bit of story. Great entry, especially for a compo game, well done :trophy:

Drawn Out by xmatos 2021-04-28T00:03:45Z

Such an unusual experience, very bold! I like how relaxing and unpredictable it can be to create something in it. Thank you for making this!

Space Dig by Lawrence 2021-04-29T04:17:53Z

Very complete, especially for a 48h game! You even added an in-game tutorial, nice! I always struggle with this type of controls, but I think you nailed it, I found it pretty satisfying and easy to fly that charming little ship around

Diggy Diggy Down by Schuster 2021-04-30T01:38:16Z

The gameplay works really well, very engaging. Super charming graphics, great homage to Boulder Dash. Congratulations!

Deep Mine Ventures by PatrickRMC 2021-05-17T02:40:47Z

Great entry! I especially love the game concept and the graphics. There's a lot to do, the gameplay loop is deep and complete, which is very impressive for a compo game.

Are you looking to work on it post-jam? If so, I'd recommend allowing the player to jump using the "W" key, in my opinion it works best for this kind of control system (mouse + keyboard for platform movement). Well done

Back Down by juako 2021-05-06T22:40:54Z

Great entry, such a complete game for a compo! I love the pixel art and the ultra charming jump animation. I'm impressed that you managed to add different types of actions (normal platforming, swimming, inverting gravity) to create a deep gameplay experience in only 48 hours. I would love to see a fleshed out version of this game, with sound and music. Are you going to keep working on it?

Dokiss Space Explorers by R2D48 2021-05-10T23:45:54Z

The funny and quirky and characters, the pixel art and the music / sound gave the game a tongue-in-cheek feel that was very refreshing. I laughed out loud multiple times. I'm impressed that you managed to implement a complex menu and options screen with such complete options in just 48 hours, well done!

The outcome of the interactions sometimes seemed a bit random, so I often felt that my decisions had no significant impact on the gameplay. But that didn't make the game less fun to be honest, hope you keep working on it, congratulations!

Unstable by Sharks 2021-05-01T02:04:40Z

Ok, I'm a pony, hacking a computer. That's why game jams exist, thank you  I love the puzzle design, the "programmer art" and the humorous mood of the game. The slow gameplay is also kinda funny and it wouldn't bother me if the game wouldn't go back a level when dying (I think simply restarting the current area would be enough of a punishment), but I understand the design choice behind it. Great entry, congratulations!

Depth Seilor by deepinthewoods 2021-04-28T01:23:32Z

I love the idea, innovative mechanics, great job! I found I'm able to "cheese" some levels / sections by simply holding the space bar, but it doesn't detract too much from the experience, just might be something to look at if you're looking to keep working on it.

MINOTOAD by MarkoPoloDev 2021-05-11T02:05:34Z

Nice variety, level design, music and art. The player walking animation is super charming and funny! The game is considerably deep and polished, especially for a compo entry, very impressive!

The only other issue I ran into (other than the hoplite "soft lock") was that attacking using the LMB didn't work every time, but once I switched to arrow keys + E it worked fine.

Having to start all over again when dying put me off and I wasn't able to finishing the game after playing for 20-30 minutes. I understand it's a design choice and I can definitely get behind it, I'm just not very good at killing all the things and want to play and review more games to help people get to 20 ratings

Overall great entry, good job!

Ancient Civilizations by ForeverTrash 2021-05-17T01:24:49Z

Really a lot to do in this game, the gameplay loop is satisfying and interesting! If you're looking to work on it post game, I'd revisit the combat mechanics by adding some feedback, as it can be a bit confusing to understand how and when you're able to hit the enemies. Switching between the Pickaxe and Sword using the Mousewheel would be a nice addition as well!

Well done on finishing the game in such a short amount of time :trophy:

Lost Contact by DrSkort 2021-05-12T06:53:56Z

Your game masterfully mixed grind and exploration, so with that alone you'd have me hooked  However, you also managed to create a great atmosphere with the graphics and music, producing a mesmerizing mood that reminded me of the "Sunless" series. So, naturally, I played Lost Signal until the end and kept exploring until I wasn't able to upgrade anything else.

Even though the ending could be described as "anticlimatic", I feel it was fitting — after all, it's all about the journey, isn't it? I was impressed that I didn't lose my way even once, even without a minimap, but the exploration still felt interesting throughout the game. I also absolutely loved the fact that the "player" is so small in this vast world. In the end, it was a quasi-meditative experience filled with surprises and rewards that will stay with me for a while. Thank you for making this, I'd gladly play more.

The only nitpick I have is that sometimes the submarine gets "stuck" in some corners, so if you're looking to keep working on it, I'd recommend making some sort of way to "move backwards" to avoid some frustration. Another solution would be to not have to get too close to the treasures to pick them up, so these "bumps" would happen less frequently.

Overall excellent game, I hope you continue adding content to it

deep bell by Rs11s21n 2021-05-13T02:49:22Z

Charming animations and graphics! I like the gameplay and controls as well, the game is simple but satisfying. I hope you keep adding more stuff to the game as I'd love to revisit in a more challenging, longer form. Well done :trophy:

Magic Frontier by Firebelley 2021-04-27T05:31:42Z

This game is so polished and well designed, I'm amazed. Great puzzle experience with a strategy / builder feel. Loved the pixel art and music too, flawless! Have you made this in Godot?

Super Turtle Drop by JavaSaurus 2021-04-29T01:55:36Z

Super cool concept, great homage to arcade games. I adore the art style and music! Mouse controls felt a little glitchy on WebGL as some pointed out, but the overall experience is very polished, especially for a Compo game.

Going Down by Barney25052 2021-05-18T01:03:18Z

Great idea and execution! I love the low-bit art and the simple animations. The gameplay loop is also very satisfying and addicting. Would love to see more of it, are you looking to keep working on the game post-jam?

Fallen Angel by Eduardo Yukio 2021-05-01T02:15:09Z

OH MY GOD IT'S A BLOOD-SPITTING DEMON :fearful: I love the pace, the gameplay and the concept of the game. The art and music also appeal to me very much, reminded me of old Windows games. Super cool, I hope you keep working on it. Is there an end to the game?

How deep is this rabbit hole anyway? by snesgaard 2021-04-29T03:51:02Z

Very addicting! I like the art style a lot, and the movement mechanics / controls feel refreshing, unique. I'm terrible at this kind of game, though, only got to ~472m

Eye of Skozrack by Echo GameWorks 2021-05-03T04:12:53Z

Who knew that flinging a squishy eyeball around could be so satisfying?

I think the last level is a bit too hard, as I almost gave up (and it seems the other players commenting gave up on the same area). It would also be nice to have some sort of direction indicator, as it is common in pool / golf games, especially if you're going for this tough-as-nails level design. An arrow near the circle pointing to where the eyeball will be thrown at should be enough.

The atmosphere, mood, aesthetic, pixel art, SFX and music are perfection to my eyes and ears, and I laughed out loud with the premise. I had a lot of fun and played it to the very end. Great entry! I'm impressed that you made this in 48 hours! I hope you keep working on the game as I'd love to go back to flinging that charming eyeball in all sorts of places

Deep Dive in Hyperspace by TaliOS 2021-05-08T23:40:27Z

Great entry, surprised you managed to make it in 10 hours, that's a hell of a feat! I like the gameplay a lot, everything is very well designed and put together. I especially love the dash mechanic as it added a new flair to the classic side-scrolling arcade-y movement. The graphics and SFX are juicy, with good feedback on what is happening at all times. Very neat, polished experience.

If you're looking to keep working on it, I think an "endless" mode would be a great addition, as I could see myself playing this nonstop

Grabble Story by Mahjoub 2021-04-27T21:19:33Z

This game is absurdly good and polished! I played all the way to the end, unlocked everything. The only criticism I have is that there could either be instructions somewhere (I struggled a bit to realize what the bombs were doing, for instance), or the action could offer clearer player feedback. Or maybe I'm just old and slow

I also agree with what you discussed with @jk5000, the crane could move faster if it isn't holding any treasures. But these are minor issues, your work is overall flawless. I love the art, story and theme. It's so fun, light and charming! I'm amazed by how many sub-games there are in such a simple, elegant mechanic. Congratulations! Please keep working on it.

Quick Scrap by Vimlark 2021-04-29T00:21:17Z

Love it! You're a master at making frustration fun. The movement mechanic is sooo good, would love to see it in a full game. For more challenging levels, you can consider adding timer to some buttons / doors. The background with parallax is just superb. Amazing work.

Clear Your Head by Styps 2021-05-11T02:42:26Z

Such a clever use of the theme! I love how simple yet charming the gameplay is. I got a bit sleepy when playing — but in this case, that's a good thing

I think the game could benefit from the "platforming ledge tolerance / forgiveness" if you're looking to expand it. Very good compo entry, good job!

FALL GUY by matthewrobo 2021-05-17T00:50:36Z

Amazing how such a simple gameplay and mechanic can be so innovative and satisfying. I could see this being a very popular commercial game with some polish and maybe a level editor. Hope you keep working on this, well done!

Diggleoid by zep 2021-05-17T05:14:12Z

Super solid and complete entry, amazing job, especially for a compo game. I especially like the graphics and the pace of gameplay. It's super challenging, but it's so easy and quick to start a new game that it never feels too frustrating when you lose. Well done!

Deep Forest by Japayne 2021-05-09T05:25:27Z

Wow, congratulations on making such a simple experience so enjoyable!

Even though the gameplay was pretty much the same all the way through, somehow I kept wanting to go further and further into the woods, not once minding the grind or finding it too repetitive. The character animation and the beautiful pixel art helped made this game very charismatic.

With just a bit more of fleshing out — maybe some more variety on the level design or the meta progression — I could see spending a lot more time as Rory. I hope you keep working on this game. Great job!

Deirdre & Pedro by Frogravity 2021-05-01T00:45:22Z

This game is so cool! I'm impressed by the innovative concept and its execution in gameplay. I absolutely love the tongue-in-cheek art and sound style. I had a blast with it. It seems there's a bug that lets you get points even after dying (in the "game over" screen) if the surviving character collides with an obstacle. Great entry, congratulations!

There, Again by Honey Pony 2021-05-13T04:01:14Z

Great gameplay experience with some interesting concepts. The design is complete, polished and very well put together. Visuals and sound + music are superb, especially for a compo entry. With a few tweaks and some more levels this could easily be a commercial game. I loved the ending as well, although I confess I had to skip the last levels, as I couldn't figure out the "throw rock on wall" part, my reflexes are too slow

The one criticism I have is that the characters "slide" a bit on landing — and for precision platforming, this seems overly unfair. It's more noticeable on the stages with the levers and moving platforms.

Overall great achievement, I'm impressed that you managed to put it together in less than 48 hours. Excellent job, congratulations :trophy:

Associated Arguments by mathemagician 2021-05-13T03:15:48Z

The overall game concept is very unusual and interesting. It's refreshing to see someone taking risks to experiment with game design. The aesthetic is pleasing, cohesive and consistent. The sound and graphics work very well together to deliver an abstract narrative that will most likely be understood by everyone without requiring any explanation.

The only nitpick I have is that the player hitbox might be a bit too small, which leads to some awkward situations, such as bumping into corners or accidentally moving somewhere you didn't mean to. It might be a good idea to try tiled movement, as I believe precision is important for this sort of puzzle experience.

Please keep working on this game, I'd love to revisit it in the future once it has more content.

Overall, this is a great entry, congratulations

Alice's fall by Brice Mahier 2021-05-17T02:55:19Z

The graphics, mood and sound are very good! You also made good use of lighting as a gameplay mechanic, which is unique and refreshing. The atmosphere you managed to create is also very effective on setting the mood, made me wonder what the hell was happening behind that bizarre scenario of a woman falling down endlessly. Is there an actual ending to the game?

Do you plan to keep working on it? If so, I think it'd be a good idea to experiment with making the flames only be "catchable" when colliding with the lamp, otherwise they'd hurt Alice somehow. I believe this could make the action a bit more dynamic. As some pointed out, it's very hard to avoid the platforms on time, especially the ones that appear on the center of the screen, and having the player move more frantically to avoid the flames (or reach them from a different angle) could help mitigate it.

Overall I really like this, great entry

Polyomino Prospector by David-Liddelow 2021-04-29T02:05:03Z

Loved the concept, the nostalgic feeling and the art. You managed to innovate while keeping the retro feel and aesthetic. Hope you keep expanding and building on it, great entry!

Zombie Movie Marathon : A Game Remotely about Zombies by Codeman1010 2021-04-30T05:17:52Z

I enjoyed the art style and the game mood, would love to play a finished version of it! Nice work

Space Oddities by Ben Yazi 2021-04-30T01:30:04Z

Super cool concept, very funny, I laughed out loud many times! It gave me Lemmings vibes. I love the art style as well, minimalist ultra charming pixel art is probably my favorite kind of game art. Are you planning on expanding it?

Terminal by Squidsheep 2021-05-02T02:53:58Z

Original concept, great execution and great art style. What's not to love? I'm impressed this is a compo entry, congratulations! It'd be nice to know how many cards of each there are in the "deck" to plan ahead. Are you looking to keep working on this game? I'd be excited to play a new version!

Miningsweeper by Nick Barrash 2021-04-27T02:31:13Z

I'm amazed by the concept and gameplay. I really think this could be a commercial game if you expanded it and improved the graphics.

Experiment 626 by morcado 2021-05-01T02:29:00Z

Very atmospheric! I got hooked from the very beginning. You managed to create powerful ambiance with simple, minimalist pixel art and SFX and in a very short production time, that's a great feat, congratulations!

Solar Subs by Simpathey 2021-04-27T02:29:12Z

Super awesome, innovative gameplay! I love how it gets darker and darker, it's all very moody and tense by the end. I especially liked the lighting effects and the sound design.

Afraid to Turn by rhoff95 2021-05-08T04:46:55Z

Such a great entry! Very complete experience with outstanding atmosphere, movement and gameplay. I'm a fan of the art style and the controls. Also, the way you explained everything in-game was very charming. If you're looking to iterate on the game, I think adding features for replayability, such as a timer / score, difficulty settings or different scenarios / objectives would be a good start. Great work!

Past the Final Frontier by towergame 2021-05-07T02:24:51Z

I love the grind, the aesthetic, the music. Definitely looking to play a more complete version of this game. After probing Uranus multiple times I think either something broke or it wasn't entirely clear to me how to progress, as I never managed to land a successful mission in Neptune even with everything upgraded all the way. Overall I absolutely loved it, amazing work!

Deep Purple by BridgeOnAStick 2021-04-30T06:01:21Z

Awesome gameplay mechanics, great puzzle design. I absolutely loooove the aesthetics, very pleasing and atmostpheric with superb pixel art. Are you looking to expand this? Hope so, I want more levels

Sky Plummet by Kaabiikaze 2021-04-27T05:39:53Z

I had a blast with this game! I like the look overall, the only nitpick I have is that the clouds are blurry, but I get it if it's an aesthetic choice. There's so much "juice" in a very simple game loop! I especially love how satisfying it feels to destroy gold blocks. Is there an end to the game or is it simply a "how far can you go?" sort of experience?

GHOS by FlippingKun 2021-04-26T04:14:53Z

I love the concept and core gameplay, super funny! Is it endless? I wished it had a separate score for how deep / far you go.

Snoopin Around by Madorly 2021-05-13T02:57:58Z

I like the idea of a point-n-click adventure where you have limited time to act, gave the game a sense of urgency that is not common in the genre!

I hope you keep working on the game, would gladly play it again once it has more content. Great job! :trophy:

Ariel Cleanomancer and the Eldritch Sweep by alyd asmar 2021-05-17T22:44:35Z

Superb art style, awesome mechanics and puzzle design. As others might have pointed out, the game could benefit greatly from an undo button / action. Great entry, well done! :trophy:

Jackhammer Joe by Wall Jump Games 2021-04-29T03:42:43Z

Amazing concept! Works felt inconsistent / off sometimes, but I love how innovative it is :)

Dive & Dig by andrewkennedy 2021-05-02T03:12:55Z

This is so cool! I love the tutorial (super funny dialogue), and how the control mechanics provide innovative gameplay. I think I could play it for hours if there were some sort of meta-progression or unlocks. Is there an "ending"? I got to 1584m at my deepest attempt.

Beession Impossible by mathewcst 2021-04-27T03:28:01Z

Great pixel art, gameplay and flow. Very polished for a 48h game, congratz!

Pix'in' by DancesWE 2021-05-16T21:47:06Z

Very neat concept, unusual and engaging. I think it would work very well as a music-inspired / oriented experience. Would love to see more of it, hope you keep working on the game. Great job!

Deep To Hell by Jacky Chan 2021-05-09T02:03:20Z

Very innovative controls! It took me a while to figure them out even after watching the video, but I enjoyed the experience once I got it. The big lava that comes from the bottom rose a bit too fast to my slow reflexes though  Great entry, good job!

Unto the Eight by Threeli 2021-04-28T04:14:25Z

You made this in 48 hours? What? This is superb, I'm pleasantly surprised and deeply impressed. Thank you for creating this

I agree with the general feeling that it is hard, tough and somewhat unforgiving, but these are conscious design choices — they're features, not flaws. As someone pointed out, it reminds me of Minit-like games. The gameplay is puzzle-esque in the sense that you have to die often to understand how to better optimize your routes for the next "run". The only pseudo-criticism I have with this game loop is that it's kinda tough to play it all the way through the end while rating games for the jam. But I love it all and would gladly pay for a full version, please keep working on it.

10/10, probably the best game I've played so far :trophy:

Deep Sleep by Link270 2021-04-30T05:42:32Z

Masterful storytelling and art! I was especially impacted by the "Despair" portion of the game. The way you managed to treat such a sensitive subject with thoughtfulness while still making a meaningful impact is very impressive. Feels very complete for a jam game!

Depths of the Deep by Panacea 2021-04-26T02:11:02Z

I like it! Very moody and funny in the right dosage. The only nitpick I have is that the delay when you enter doors is a bit long. Great job :)

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-05-06T02:09:18Z

Great entry! The pixel art, sound and music are amazing. I love the retro feel with a more modern theme and story. The only issue I had was with the ladder / ropes, the control felt a bit fidgety when trying to climb them up and down from a jump. But overall this is an awesome experience, well done!

One More Cellar by Magna 2021-04-28T21:45:47Z

Awesome, no-nonsense roguelike. I deeply enjoyed the experience, it's really hard to put down . I especially like the fact that there's no dodge-roll, which makes the gameplay more streamlined. The art and music are very good as well, great job! Every time I got to a store I was able to get every item (or almost every item) available, so it might be a good idea to consider re-balancing this for future versions if you're looking to expand the strategic decisions available for the player. Have you used any existent algorithms for the level generation?

Jung Guns by vickles 2021-04-26T17:54:00Z

The concept is SUPER funny and the gameplay is on point with the theme. I laughed out loud multiple times ^^ Even though it's very tongue-in-cheek in nature, the game is super tough (at least for my old man reflexes) and requires some strategy to beating each enemy, which is very welcome in a shmup. Congrats! The art is amazing as well, reminded me a bit of Monolith.

If you're looking to improve it for future versions, I noticed that the audio levels dropped when a notification sound popped in my browser (Chrome, Windows 10).

Lime Snowfall by Pierce Brooks 2021-05-12T07:06:07Z

Very cool concept and gameplay! I especially like the aesthetics, the quirky sound and the lightning effects. It all added to a very unusual gaming experience. Great work, congratulations on finishing it :trophy:

Dig Deeper & Deeper: Go Deep (HTML5) by vexorian 2021-05-08T00:39:37Z

I really like the concept, the stripped-down gameplay mechanics and the pixel art. However, the puzzles were too hard for me  I got stuck even as early as level 2, so it might be a good idea to experiment with some easier puzzles first if you're looking to keep working on the game. Great job!

The Colorsmith by Jordan Ottesen 2021-04-29T02:22:11Z

Wow, 10 hours?! You're my hero! The game is super well polished, the mechanic is well designed and the flow of the game is superb. You absolutely nailed the platforming movement, feels very precise and correctly paced. I love the art and the music as well, great entry! Congratz! The only nitpick I have is that the character style doesn't seem to match the background, but this is more personal preference than anything else. I hope you decide to keep working on the game post-jam, I need more levels

The Colorsmith by Jordan Ottesen 2021-04-29T05:14:16Z

@jordan-ottesen Haha, I don't think you "have a problem", you're passionate! It's really hard to "switch off" from the projects we care about sometimes, right?

Oh, you lived here in São Paulo for 2 years? That's so cool! Do you mind telling me what sort of work you were doing here?

I do have a game in the jam, called Dahla's Journey, you can play it from the "Games" tab on my LD profile. I'd be honored if you'd play it

The Colorsmith by Jordan Ottesen 2021-04-30T05:03:54Z

@jordan-ottesen That must've been an amazing and transformational journey! I see the Elders in my region often (there's a Church very close to my house) and they're always super polite and seem very compassionate. I am not a religious person, but I understand and respect the positive impact these experiences have not only on the lives of the missionaries but also on the lives of the people around them, and on society as a whole. Thank you for sharing a bit of your story with me

Last Star Legionnaire by Pirate-Rob 2021-04-27T03:21:02Z

This game is so good! I'm amazed you managed to do that in only 48 hours. Would love to play a longer, more polished version.

The Deepest Booze by mechamew 2021-05-11T00:25:17Z

What a sweet experience! The game left a warm feeling in my chest, like if I was surrounded by cats in a small underground cozy room somewhere far away while talking to someone interesting. Oh wait

!!MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!!

I absolutely love the art style, the mood and the music. I'm not from France, but I'm now a Team Lazerbeam fan! I love the three last questions / answers, it made me feel more connected to my journey as a beginner game dev.

Thank you for creating this game and congratulations on making it in only 48 hours, great job :trophy:

IntoDreams by SlenderTNT 2021-05-18T01:24:50Z

Super charming graphics and sound, great concept and execution. I like how fast-paced the gameplay is, but without giving that "despair" vibe that is often present in top-down shooters. This is especially welcome in this game as you're able to soak in the theme and awesome visuals while running around. I'm a fan of pixel art, but I also love when people go off the beaten path and experiment with other 2D art styles.

If you're looking to improve the game post-jam, I think it would be a good idea to work on more player feedback when shooting, as right now it feels kind of "slow". A reloading sound or some sort of visual cue to show when the weapon is ready to fire would suffice, I believe.

Overall very good entry, well done!

Downer Diver by MkMuffi 2021-05-11T04:31:23Z

Cool game, very charming and unusual pixel art style. The music is great!

If you're looking to expand it, I think having a way to restore lives would be neat, especially in longer levels. I would definitely play more. Great work, congratulations! :trophy:

Kill Yasuhiro by Spydercrawler 2021-04-29T04:34:10Z

You nailed the "samurai fight" gameplay! I like the aesthetic as well, simple but charming visuals.

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-26T17:15:58Z

@vickles Thank you for playing — and for the kind words <3 The point you make about the "puzzle feel" is very on-point, I'll keep it in mind, appreciate it

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-26T17:21:38Z

Hey @nick-barrash, the movement is, well, kind of random:sweat_smile: The plan was for each enemy to move to a random position each turn (if possible). However, this was my first time making a turn-based game, so to be completely honest I did not figure out the movement "code" correctly and sometimes the enemies simply don't move. I just went with it

Thank you a lot for taking the time to play and comment, I really appreciate it!

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-27T19:54:38Z

Hey @mahjoub I appreciate the feedback! Will take it into account when working on new versions of the game. Thank you so so much for playing

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-27T19:55:51Z

Hey @xmatos yeah, it is a bit slow isn't it? I didn't have the time to adjust the gameplay speed, but will definitely adjust it for possible future versions. Thank you for playing and leaving feedback, you are awesome :two_hearts:

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-27T19:57:40Z

@deepinthewoods I will definitely work on the gameplay speed in the future, thank you for your input  And I deeply appreciate you for taking the time to play the game and leave a comment

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-28T01:27:39Z

Hey @threeli thank you for playing and for the in-depth feedback  Yes, I plan on keep working on it, and I completely agree the gameplay is slow, will definitely fix that in the future. I also want to add some items and a bit more story (like randomized lines at the end of each run) to flesh out the experience. Really appreciate your kind words

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-28T21:18:24Z

Thank you, @magna, I appreciate the feedback and the kind words  So glad you took the time to play it

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-29T22:02:01Z

Hey @corbeng the plan was to have some items to heal or deal AOE damage, but I didn't have the time to implement them . Thank you for playing and for leaving valuable feedback

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-29T22:03:47Z

Thank you @ben-yazi I love the style of your games as well, it's amazing what you accomplished with such a low pixel count

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-29T22:06:49Z

@bridgeonastick I love the in-depth feedback, thank you! Not having a "wait" action is kind of a pillar of *broughlikes*, but I completely agree the game needs *something* to prevent the annoying "going back and forth" loops, and will definitely work on fleshing out the gameplay for future versions. I deeply appreciate you took the time to play and share your thoughts :heartbeat:

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T01:31:02Z

Thank you for playing and leaving a comment, @schuster, I appreciate it

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T04:54:24Z

@jordan-ottesen Hey, I'm super stoked that you got to play the game, and very flattered with your feedback

Yes, there's no more story after the intro at the time. The game is "endless" at its current state, but the plan is to add more backstory and a proper ending in the future. I wanted to implement more interactions between "The Power" and Dahla, such as multiple different lines of text after the end of each run and item selection in between levels, but I ran out of time

I appreciate your insight on the gameplay mechanics, especially your thoughtful suggestion on tying it with the storyline, great suggestion! Haven't thought about it to be completely honest

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T07:05:23Z

@1minatur Haha, we all know it's 42, come on! I'll definitely add a proper ending in the future. Really appreciate you guys playing it on stream, thank you so much!

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T07:07:05Z

@link270 Hey, thank you for playing the game, I had a lot of fun in your stream! I absolutely love Into the Breach (and FTL), so that's a high praise for me, appreciate it

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T07:09:33Z

@tanner-shelton Glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much for taking the time to play and leave feedback  Also good to know there's something to appreciate even if you're not a hardcore player of super-niche turn-based strategy games

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T22:24:04Z

Thank you @marcmagus! I had a lot of fun in your stream and the feedback you gave was invaluable. It's good to see a veteran *rogueliker* playing the game, it opened up some very interesting questions on the mechanic / gameplay, especially from a strategic point of view. And props on making a physical card game for the jam, super bold move

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T22:24:58Z

That was the initial plan @waltsontanaka but I ran out of time  Will definitely work on a "proper ending" in the future. Thank you for playing and for commenting, I deeply appreciate it

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-04-30T22:27:11Z

@aeveis No ending for now, but I'll add one in future versions. I also think the game is suppose to give clearer instructions on the attack, a lot of people took a long time to figure out they could run into enemies to damage them. Thank you so so much for taking the time to play and leave feedback

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-01T01:42:28Z

@sharks Thank you for playing! I deeply appreciate your kind words  But if you ever find out something "bad" to say about it, don't hold back, any feedback is valuable feedback!

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-02T00:53:46Z

@exopunk Thank you for playing! Will definitely work on fleshing out the gameplay with more enemies and items and adjusting the pace for a future version. I appreciate the feedback, glad you liked the game

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-02T00:56:59Z

@link270 Wow, level 8? That's not an easy feat, congratz

Not having a "Wait" action is one of the pillars of the *broughlike* sub-genre, created and popularized by game dev / designer Michael Brough. If you like the mechanic, I recommend checking out his games, especially Cinco Paus.

Thank you for playing and commenting

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-02T01:35:15Z

@andrewkennedy Thank you so so much for playing and for leaving such in-depth feedback! I was planning on adding items with effects like recovering HP and AOE damage, but simply healing every X levels is a neat idea, I might steal it for future versions of the game

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-04T23:01:06Z

Hey @felo07 thank you for playing and for commenting, glad you liked it! I didn't have time to adjust the slowness of the movement before the deadline, but I'll definitely get to it soon

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-07T04:55:43Z

Thank you, @juako, appreciate the feedback  I will definitely add some more stuff to flesh out the gameplay after the jam, so any ideas are very welcome

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-08T22:42:28Z

@tanis Appreciate the feedback! Will definitely work on improving the pace of play / movement in a future version. Your game is awesome, by the way, great concept, hope you keep working on it

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-10T21:30:34Z

@japayne I greatly appreciate your praise and feedback, thank you! I'm very glad you "got" the concepts of the game, gameplay-wise and story-wise, and that you had fun with it.

About the unavoidable attack situation — you're totally right, it's far from perfect right now and it can lead to some awkward situations. I believe having some way to recover health or some sort of powerful item / special attack that you can use once in a while, such as an AOE effect, could mitigate that. Or I could also rework the level generation somehow to prevent these weird scenarios where there's simply nothing you can do to avoid taking damage. Just brainstorming here

I'm honored with your comments and will take them to heart when working in a new version. And congratulations on your game as well, I loved it!

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-10T21:35:01Z

@echo-gameworks Thank you for playing and commenting

Some people suggested having an indicator to where the enemies would move on their next turn to expand on the strategic decisions the player can make when moving. I'm not sold on that solution as it would remove some of the "randomness" of the experience, however, I totally agree that I have to do *something* to mitigate that "going back and forth" as it's far from satisfying gameplay

Loved your game by the way, congratulations!

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-12T01:57:44Z

Thank you for the kind words, @drskort! I can definitely agree that the current randomness/proc-gen results in some awkward situations in gameplay, I'm definitely going to work in a solution to mitigate this in a future version. I appreciate the detailed feedback, you're awesome

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-12T03:30:41Z

@pierce-brooks That's a hell of a praise for me, I love Caves of Qud

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-14T00:12:42Z

Thank you for playing and for the kind words @okamit! Will definitely add stuff to the game after the jam. And hey, your game looks sooo cool, saw it on a live stream a couple weeks ago, super sweet! Will play it later tonight.

Congratulations to you and the rest of your team for the great entry

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-14T06:04:33Z

@honey-pony Very in-depth feedback, I appreciate it!

You raise some very good points about the randomness from an unusual point of view. The initial idea was that the story would be gradually shown to the player between levels and runs, with a little bit of meta-progression (for instance, I wanted items / skills to be randomized so you'd never know their effect before using them for the first time). I didn't have enough time to do all that, so I ended up cutting a lot in favor of a more simple experience. But I'll definitely revisit some of my first ideas post-jam — and the things you said gave me the opportunity to look at them in a different way. Thank you very much

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-15T02:29:23Z

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-15T22:53:28Z

Hey @100th-coin! Thank you for playing and for the kind words

Yes, the enemy movement is random (and a bit glitchy, the enemies were supposed to always *try* to move if there's a direction available, but I must've messed up the code somehow). I will definitely rework the proc-gen / movement in the future, to make the level design a bit less random and prevent these incredibly easy levels where you basically just walk forward and get to the end.

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-17T21:32:07Z

@alyd-asmar Thank you for playing and for the kind words (and please thank your roommate for me ). I definitely plan on adding more mechanics to try and mitigate the repetitive grindy gameplay in the future.

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-18T02:28:26Z

Thank you, @madorly, glad you enjoyed the game, I greatly appreciate the kind words

The enemies were supposed to pick a random direction to move to every turn if able. However, I somehow messed up the code and sometimes the enemies simply don't move, which made the movement a bit more randomized than I planned. I did not have time to fix the coding, so I just went with it

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-19T05:43:57Z

@alchemic Thank you for playing and for the kind words  I will definitely work on picking up the pace of the gameplay in the future, I appreciate the feedback

Dahla's Journey by PiJaMar 2021-05-19T05:49:40Z

@xatulu Thank you for playing and for leaving such a lovely feedback

I love Construct 3! I made my first game using Godot, but I switched to Construct 3 afterwards. From what I read / watched, it seems it's very important to make as many games as possible when you're learning gamedev, and not having to actually write hundreds of lines of codes to make a simple prototype makes this easier for me. It's very easy to explore genres and gameplay mechanics while also learning the basics of object-oriented programming in Construct 3. I can see myself making the switch back to Godot in the future, though, or using both engines for different things when I'm more comfortable with writing code.

I loved the concept of your game, hope you keep working on it :trophy:

Stare by Rewdas 2021-05-11T02:52:50Z

The mood is great, especially due to the sound design. Pretty cool to see a 3D compo game, congratulations on finishing it! I like the idea of upgrading / reloading / healing while waiting for waves and battling in closed quarters.

I think adding some feedback when hitting enemies is necessary if you're looking to keep working on the game. Good job!

Caves of the Forgotten by CorbenG 2021-05-03T04:35:06Z

Oh no, spelunking can be so sad

I had a lot of fun with this game, super impressive work, especially for a first jam — it's a compo entry, even!

The pixel art and animations are superb, and the references made me smile all the way into the cave. I personally like the pace of the game, the slower flow gave it a contemplative feel. Not sure if I have any criticisms, I found the game to be a very concise and complete little experience. Are you looking to add more content or expand it somehow?
