Beautiful art... Extremely difficult game. I got up to the egg timer guy in about 5 attempts. I felt like the psychology theme could have been explored a bit more deeply in the dialogue, but I like direction.
Cheers. You're very right, I was afraid of it getting too serious, and I turned the dial on the dialog too far toward goofy. If I were to continue this I'd definitely need to find a way to keep the tone light, while expressing the psychology theme better.
Love this art style so much, but wow am I bad at bullet-hells  great job
The concept is SUPER funny and the gameplay is on point with the theme. I laughed out loud multiple times ^^ Even though it's very tongue-in-cheek in nature, the game is super tough (at least for my old man reflexes) and requires some strategy to beating each enemy, which is very welcome in a shmup. Congrats! The art is amazing as well, reminded me a bit of Monolith.
If you're looking to improve it for future versions, I noticed that the audio levels dropped when a notification sound popped in my browser (Chrome, Windows 10).
Hardcore :smile::thumbsup:
The game is very hard, maybe making the character a bit faster could help making the game more accessible
you and @saintchristopher777 should meet, also made a carl jung game
Ha ha, didn't expect to see another Jung game in LD! Thanks for the tag @emiliabea
This shooter is way harder than my game. I didn't make it to far because I too have the "old man reflexes" :-D
Art is good though, and the game looks fun (if shooters were my thing). Good entry!
ps: also love the "Jung Guns" pun!
Cool, solid and atmospheric! I love art and music! The gameplay may lack some kind of acceleration, the ship is quite slow, sometimes it is impossible to dodge even if you have time to react - there is simply not enough speed. Very cool for a compo, great job!
Nice work! I'm not a good bullet hell player so I didn't make it too far but I enjoyed what you had.
LOVE the art and theme interpretation! Really great job there! I do think it was a bit too hard. It would help if the ships were a bit smaller and faster. I wanted to see all the rest of the art and text, but it seemed like it would take too many tries to get farther. Still, really liked it overall!
i really like the visuals, great job with pixel animation, and a "soul search self help" themed bullet hell is pretty funny and mood, but this was really hard, the slow movement speed was pretty frustrating, making it feel hard in a bad way, not a rewarding way. my experience with bullet hell is just undertale, so i'm not that experienced in the genre, but undertale felt hard in a good way, since i felt like i had more control
also, the shooting sound was pretty obnoxious, too screechy, i ended up just muting.
This looks pretty great, but the window instantly closes for me when I launch it. Admittedly, that's on an old Windows 7 machine, but I'll definitely try it on something more recent before the rating period ends.
Therapy is....hard.
Great game! The art is really really good and the sound design too. I like the patterns of the bosses, and the small story on top. Like some others, I felt the game was a bit difficult in a somewhat frustrating way, especially regarding the hurtbox size of your "ship". Hurtboxes are usually super tiny in shmup and it felt weird to get hit on the edge of the ship. Great job anyway this is a super solid compo entry 💕
I liked the artstyle, and the concept was completely unique for a shmup.
I managed to get through to the end on my first attempt, but only barely (I chose the green ship if that makes a difference). Between the movement speed (which was far, FAR too slow in my opinion) and the ship's big size and hitbox, there were plenty of times when getting hit felt nigh unavoidable, and I only survived the last boss by burning through a lot of health (as well as surviving a few close calls with my danmaku skills). The intensity could've been ramped up quite a lot higher if you could move faster and graze bullets more closely.
Very nice and polished game, the atmosphere is great. Everything works fine, but I felt the hurtbox of the ship was a bit large and the ship to slow, making it a bit frustrating to navigate some patterns. What made you decide to place the player top and the boss bottom ? It's not bad per se, but it requires an adaptation time for no real benefit.
Hi there! I liked your game, this was a interesting take on the theme :). We thought about therapy as a topic too, but discarded it for beeing too heavy. But you achieved to make a fun shooter around it, greatly done. I suck at bullet hell games though, so I didn't make it to the end. But the second boss hinted that you made each enemy represent some deeper traumas or other topics to discuss with Jung. Props to that idea.
