Potatoes and kittens.
Nice idea making a shoving match, but could have been so much more fun and reward with a bit more put into it.
I really love a well made 1 button game. In my opinion, they really need to reward the player for every click (in some way past just "winning"). Animation and sound effects would have really gone a long wa here! Imagine little 8-bit meows! "MEW! MEW! ME-ME-ME-MEW!" And little impacts pixels or eyes blinking eyes with each hit would have been great. Maybe a splash when a cat lands up in the drink? Really feels like so much more could have been done here, but nice looking cats and cool music so kudos for that!
A truly brilliant entry! Amazing mood. Fantastic integration of theme. Well done!
Awesome! Heaps of fun, looks and sounds great! The song on the main menu is so awesome!
Reminded me heaps of Nuclear Throne, which surely isn't a bad thing in my books!
Awesome! Felt like a part of Escape from New York with grannies! Humour, graphics, audio - all great!
Nice work!
YYEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
This is a total stand out game for me.
I haven't had the opportunity to play too many LD31 entries (I think I've rated 26 so far). But that said, this is easily so far my favourite in terms of creative interpretation of the theme. Just awesome.
I spent ages playing with this.
With some LD games, I feel like I'm forced to spend more time with them to give them a chance. With this, I was quite into it, then started getting a little frustrated, then I was like "okay I'm done now", but then I just kept going and kept going and found myself really enthralled.
You've made something special here Tom 7!
Not much to contribute that hasn't already been said. This game looks fantastic and I'd love to see the issues ironed out so it's more playable. Hope you take this further!
Very fun! Just running away from enemies is super satisfying because of the animation!
Feels like something someone could get really good at with practice!
One suggestion I could make would be to consider making it more clear when you're getting hits in on enemies and when they hit you. Death can be a bit surprising at times. A think a good fix for this would be to have the blood of aliens being different to the ninja's blood.
Otherwise, really enjoyed this - nice work!
Hahaha! What did I just play?!
This is so great! Really interesting combination of things here. After one play I don't feel I fully grasped how to bust out moves in the best way, but still had heaps of fun. Will try work on my moves!
Nice work! Good take on the theme!
I liked the video effects of the CRT. I also like Ratatat!
Phenomenal entry.
Brilliant take on theme. Wonderful twist and turns - I was geniunely surprised by how stuff played out. Brilliant humour - it's hard for a game to make me laugh out loud, but this one did.
I should mention: it is a wonderfully weird to have the happy theme background music when you are killed and "fu*k" appears on screen saying your eggs are gone, and personally I REALLY appreciate using that kind of word in a game like this! Such lols!
First appearance of Eyepatch guy - such lols!
Second appearance of Eyepatch Guy - such lols!
Loved the art for him too. Hell, I loved every bit of art and animation. Lovely song and spot of sound design. Great bits of writing.
In short: my highest rated entry this Ludum Dare and my personal favourite.
I hope to see more from you in the future sebasRez!
Fun idea. Interestingly assembled graphics - attacks and enemies looked cool. Nice concept!
Nice game this is! I really like the animation style and the idea of throwing the player into the final battle of a long quest was a great idea!
Fun times! Crushing it!
Mac/ Web build please! This looks awesome!
Wish there were a mac or web build. Looks like my kind of thing!
Please let me know if you do a Mac or Web build! I want to play this!
Great interpretation of theme - awesome how you have the same map, with constant variations. Very cool.
Looks great! So many nice visual touches; really very nice on the eyes.
Found this tough as hell, but action felt very very solid which I appreciate. Will keep at it and see how far I can get. For now, let me just say well done for a great game here!
I like where you're going with this. Animated sprites would really bring it to life!
Please put together a Web or mac build! Based on the first screen shot, I think I'll love this!
Fantastic. I can see myself getting lost in this for ages. Really hope to see you take this further - it's awesome!
Fantastic entry. Real stand out game.
Great take on the theme, brilliantly executed. Graphically superb to boot! I look forward to seeing this game being highly rated by the end of this judging period!
Probably late in the game to make this request, but I'd love to see a Mac or Web build of this so I can play it. Would really love to play this. It looks similar to our entry, Bionic Bliss!
This is awesome!
Looks and sounds lovely with great mood. Found the attack very disappointingly ineffective but otherwise found this fun!
Awesome job!
I want to play this with 4 players! Next Super Friendship Arcade - it's on!
There's a lot to like here! Really funny take on the theme (first tire game I've played out of almost 50 entries!). General mood and feeling is just awesome. I did feel that with just a little more attention to animation this would have been visually excellent - really missed a jump animation. Really enjoyed the "SMACK" when swinging, but bothered that it was inverted when facing the wrong direction. Cool concept, which could play very well, although I found controls a little unresponsive and clunky. Overall a great entry though - hope to see this do well!
Haha! Cool concept and mechanics. Looks great too!
Very nice concept. Loved the music!
Cool idea and mechanic! Like the sprites as well. Going to play the post compo version now...
Great entry! Such an excellent idea! Fits in well with the theme. Pixel art is great. Loved how over the top your attacks were! Wished for more control over how I moved and shot, but this game is still very fun playing within the limitations you have!
Nice jam! Loved your song and art. Great mood! Gameplay was also solid and theme was nicely worked in as well!
Very interesting game. Highly original concept wonderfully executed!
Brilliant! Such cool use of the theme! So many stars!
Lovely entry! Nice humor and inventive gameplay. Cool tie in between narrative, gameplay and the theme. Great job!
So incredibly cute! A total breath of fresh air to see a game like this! Well done for the great illustration, animation and overall mood. This is a gem!
Thanks so much to everyone who's played and provided such encouraging feedback! It's awesome to hear how much this weird little game has been appreciated!
@Maurogik - thanks for all the stars!
@HuntTheWumpus - nice job on getting yourself a date!
@jhrrsn - thanks for your enthusiasm and praise! The game's definitely not meant to be punishing on any level, rather a fun, open-ended experience. Without a win or loose result, it's just up to each player to have fun.
The idea with dialogue option was (as you picked up) a "best" or "model employee" option, an aggressive one and then something in between. What we were excited to explore however is that the "best" option isn't necessarily the best one to go with. Reaper doesn't like been spoken to as though you're smarter than him. Since she herself is just looking for laughs, Kiki hates you being serrious. Going with "best" definitely won't win you any dates!
High Five to @TijmenTio - sounds like you totally got that responses would need to be tailored differently for each call!
As a very short game, this is just a simple experiment with this idea, but it's something I'd really like to explore further in the future.
Thanks all again for all your feedback! We had a blast making this game and it's so heart warming to see it could make some other people happy!
@blackmagic - the game wants only that you should have fun with it!
Thanks so much Tuism! Great to hear you enjoyed it so much! We'd also love to take the project further!
The name is a strange one we know. The company Employee 852 works for is called Bionic Bitz. The game itself is Bionic Bliss. We realise this is pretty strange, but if you can't be weird during Ludum Dare, when can you be weird?
Thanks everyone for all the feedback! Amazing to see how positive so much of it is. So great to hear so many of you like it as much as you do; it means a lot to read all your encouraging messages!
Special thanks to Warboys for the potential Mac port - looking forward to playing your game! :D
Simply brilliant.
I should mention straight away that Rear Window is a personal favourite, so maybe I'm a little swayed by your inspiration here ;)
Honestly though, this is a real stand out entry. Brilliant game mechanics - wonderful to see something that rewards observation and deduction. A great take on how to do detective games! Ties in very well to the jam's theme, which is quite a plus!
Looks good and sounds even better. Mostly, I'm just overjoyed to find an entry with such superb writing! And so much of it? Bravo!
This is a real gem! I hope it lands up being highly rated across he board. You should be very, very proud of what you've made here!
Great, great game! So much to admire here! Good use of theme, great mechanic and (best element of all in my books) this game looks fantastic.
I found the controls quite clunky and from time to time completely unresponsive. Otherwise, this seems very well finished. I'd play the hell out of a game like this on my DS!
I should also mention I'm very happy to hear about Superpowers! Will follow progress on that with great interest!
Found this tough to get through, but I loved the idea of being trapped in a painting!
What did I just play?!?
Firstly, incredible art. Came here based on your feature in the Tiny Worlds art post. Of all the gret looking stuff they posted, your's was the one game I had to play!
Not disappointed I came through, though very surprised! Was not expecting the game to take the turn of events it did. Still not sure what even happened, but I know it was crazy and I know I like crazy.
Great job!
A lot to like here, charming song, nice visual style. An ambitious attempt for LD, which is admirable, although I think you may have over extended yourself. Camera controls were very buggy, which made the whole thing a bit frustrating to play. Still, a very good achievement for this jam. Better to go for something ambitious than something safe I say!
What a winner! Great mood, artwork and writing. Main place where I can see some room for improvement would have to be on animation. The player character felt like he could have been brought to life a lot more than they were. Regardless, I think this is a great entry - hoping it does very well!
Great entry. Loved the art and music. Loved the pink dino! Would have been nice to have a bit more feedback with things like taking damage or attacking, but given the timeframe, this is a great achievement!
Wow I loved this! So relaxing, the music and sounds are beautiful. All the little interactions in the world really bought it to life! (My favorite was the animating background) I didn't really like the herding mechanic, I think I'd prefer it if the spirits were just attracted if a moon was near by
Absolutely mental! Lovely take on the theme, very very original indeed!
Black screen for me too.
MAXIMUM STARS GARLIC-POWERED VAMPIRE ATTACK!
I love this so much!
YOU GET ALL THE STARS!
Honestly the most solid LD32 game I have played so far. Perfectly scoped, such a simple design, but wonderfully executed and polished.
Great job! I hope to see this being one of the top rated entries of this jam!
Good to hear, but please remember the cones are gender-neutral. There is no "fem snow cone" :)
Thanks for all the encouraging comments everyone! Please check back for the post compo version!
Lols! The audio was my favourite bit - really great!
Loved this. Really nice take on the theme and sense of mood. The art is so great. Pity some of the scans looked so pixelated, and would have been nice to see the sprites treated a little better so they feel at home in the beautifully textured world.
A great entry.
ALSO: RACCOONS!!!
Cool game! Interesting art style and fun concept. The glitch attack was a great idea!
Five stars for humour!
Woah, this is totally rad, I love build ing on top of the track. However, I'm stuck at the bramble I don't know what I'm doing wrong I'm hitting every note. >.<
I must say I find the visual cues for the rhythm quite noisy and hard to follow, I'm much better off if I just close my eyes and listen for the beat.
I only got as far as the archer fish after which I fell through the level at the point where you meat the knight in the pit :/
It's a funny idea. I wish it was a little more condensed so i could have seen more of it quicker. I didn't really like the branching paths, but I'm that into metroidvania's
This looks really cute!
Mac build wouldn't play on my end (kept giving an error that the file was damaged). Tried re-downloding, but gave the same issue.
If you try uploading another Mac build, let me know if you'd like me to test it out!
What a great little game! A very ambitious concept for a short jam, but your team did a great job of realising this concept! Loved the art the take on the theme. Really great combination of being deep and numerous at the same time!
If you plan on working on a post-jam version keep an eye on making sure text isn't getting cropped outside the frame!
I loved this! Had heaps of fun playing it right through to the end. You should totally take this further!
What a beautiful looking and sounding game!
I'm no good at these kind of games so I just died constantly. Made me sad because I just wanted to hang out with this cute kitty and listen to the lovely music!
Well done for making such a gorgeous game in such a short space of time!
Tried this one out because of the cute character.
Struggled quite a bit with the controls, but it did feel good when I could get a good run/ fly going!
This is for sure the first time I've been a spaceship that can eat things!
What an adorable little game!
Lovely concept and very nicely executed. Very charming art compliments a very charming concept. Great music choice too!
This was wonderful! Got really lost in the experience, and just wanted to keep playing to do better and better!
Felt incredibly well polished for a jam game!
Well done!
Drawing your characters is such a fun idea!
Text was so tiny on my side, I couldn't read what was happening.
Seemed like a nice take on the theme though!
Nice on the eyes, and feels like a concept that could be explored to tie in well with the theme.
Would be great to add some more motivation to keep the player going. Collectables or power ups would be great! It'd also be interesting to have more than one gaps on some platforms, forcing the player to make some descisions about the route they followed.
The most fun I've had leading any army of flies to eat poop.
Thanks so much for playing, and for leaving this encouraging comment @smt! So nice to hear you had such a good time with The Deepest Booze!
Awwww, thanks so much @smooches! Might be the sleep deprivation talking, but this comment made me quite emotional! Thanks so very much for playing and for the kind words!
Hi Captain Mumbles Bumbum/ @candlebird! So very glad to hear you approve of this game! Very stoked to hear you had such a good time with it!
@crispybun Awww, this was so good to hear! Very glad to hear that it exceeded your expectations! Also, so great that you were just vibing on the main menu! Of all the tunes I made over the jam that was one of my favourites - I worried that it might be wasted on the main menu, but secretly hoped someone cool would just chill out with it playing the background. Thanks for being that someone cool!
Thanks for playing and commenting @hiki911! This was my first time doing the music for one of my games, so it means a lot to hear that you enjoyed the tunes!
@yu-needs-coffee @voidfishing @natalia-dushkina @andre-sadie Thank you one and all for playing, and for you're lovely comments! It's so very encouraging knowing this game struck a chord with each of you!
Thanks so much @melon-spirit! It's such a good feeling to receive feedback like this! Very glad to hear you enjoyed all these aspects of the game and all the cats!
Thanks for playing and commenting @brad-make-games!
I do wish I'd had time to record more sound effect - will totally add that in for a little post comp update after the jam!
Thank you all for playing!
@fueelin I did plan for the game to be a bit longer myself - there was gonna be another decoy bar above The Deepest Booze! Had to cut it because of time constraints, but I feel like this is a nice length for a LD game; gives the player a nice little contained experience and then lets them get on with playing other jam creations!
@pijamar - glad to hear the game won us another team Lazerbeam fan! Reach out if I can send you keys for any of our releases!
@r2d48 Psycho Mantis comparison made me blush - you're too kind!
Very moody and nice to look at! Enjoyed the music too!
I found the whole intro very very slow. Maybe the game was running slowly on my machine/ a bug prevented me from skipping past narration once I had read it? If not, it might be good to revisit how long narration stays on screen or how players can progress through it!
What a cool little jam game! Bouncing around the neighborhood felt really fun!
Had a pretty tough time with the controls, but I guess that the difficulty of the thing will be a big part of the appeal for people who like a challenge.
I enjoyed your take on the Unstable theme. If your currious about another pgo game that was made in this jam, be sure to check out Pogo Baggins!
Poopy Parker took me places I never dreamed I would go.
Video Game Kiss of The Year 2021!
What a cool entry! Fun and quirky mechanics. Song made me giggle! Well done!
Also ran into the problem where mouse clicks wouldn't work.
Nice tunes and art style though!
Hey @natalia-dushkina & @koalaknight!
Thank you both for playing and for your encouraging comments. Really means a lot to hear the game resonated with you!
@archimagus Thanks so much for playing, and for the awesome feedback! So glad to hear you loved it!
Thank you @sakura-magika! Really glad to hear you liked everything so much (and that you were a fan of Mew Mew 2!
Thanks for letting us know about that bug! We've fixed this up by getting the teacher involved! She now forces you into band practice, even if you try sneak off!
Thanks again for the feedback and encouragement - it really means a lot!
Yay! Thanks heaps @jonah! Stoked to the hear that!
Thanks so much @hengen & @theblindeye! Really appreciate it!
