You had me at the title screen! 💗
As a space cowboy, I like to shoot lasers at the circus. Sometimes I accidentally zap bystanders (about once a week). Many suspected me but unfortunately Claire, who loves hanging in the depths of @#$@#%@#^@, found out. 10/10 Would play again: you get to see Dexter get busted by Chtulhu
PS: super fun! I really thought of any improvement, the only thing I could come up with is a "skip" button to skip the lines once they get repetitive (for multiple plays). Congratz!!!
10/10, best performance in a browser for any LD48 game!
Jokes aside, super cool idea!! So creative. I could not solve the riddle, Layer 4 was "empty". A tiger? Purple? I even tried to use the console :)
@turkey I have to go back and try again. Piper tiger mumble mumble. EDIT: I was coding for 48 hours so I inserted the color of the pipe (purple) in the riddle. I got it!!! Sorry my brain was fried
Wow. Very polished. Really like the atmosphere. With the soundtrack, it has this ominous feeling. I never saw a mechanic like that, based only on throwing an item that changes the camera. Amazing graphics. One small nitpick, you could lerp the camera quickly when the character summons the torch, so it doesnt have a jagged effect. Awesome job!!
Really like the idea of going into Dante's hell. The main picture is amazing. I wish it was little bit easier, I kept died in the first two minutes. The blue head chews your sword until you get hit again? That punished me so bad :) Also, really dig the parallax effect!!
@jml-games looooool Best comment ever on LD
I like the controls, they remind me of some old school game. I love that vibe, extra pixelated. Did you code the levels with noise or did you draw them manually? They don't seem procedurally generated. Interesting!
10/10 anatomically correct as advertised!!
I had to finish it. It's compulsive!! LOVE IT!!
I didn't realize this is a poop game too!! Haha great take on the theme!!! I like that you have a clear goal (center of the earth). Really dig the graphic style, minimalist but very effective and suggestive!
10/10 Savage esthetic!! The shoot timer is always in time with the music, cant be a coincidence!!
Kudos for learning a new engine in such a small time. One thing I would have loved is a key to mine instead of the mouse click. Congrats!
The game is stuck on loading in my browser :(
Really dig the music! Especially the credit music, a wonderful miniature, one arpeggio, one melody. Boom! Music geek stuff apart, dig the game and the mechanic that is quite subtle and unfolds as one plays the game. Congrats!! You made me want to learn pico 8
EDIT: had to play this again. I realized I always wanted to play Dante and Nietzsche in a game AT THE SAME TIME!!! For the next jam I expect a tri-fold mechanic which also includes Julius Caesar.
I really love this! I think it's a perfect balance between abstraction (geometric shapes) and suggestive imagery. Technically you only used a circle shape, yet I felt like I was plunging in the ocean. Thank you for fixing the bug!!!
@thesnide I hear ya!! gamedev is so brutal :) congrats on your wonderful game and on overcoming the struggle 💪 You really inspire me to try pico8, i used godot
5/5 just needed to penetrate after a 48 coding session! Going to give it a couple more tries to break down that 50 energy red barrier...
Love the graphics!! Any chance of a web or linux build?
Wow, there is so much packed into this demo. Lots of things to do in a 48 hours project! I like that you can go up and down to fight and buy. One thing that would help is to give some UI feedback in the merchant screen (maybe highlighting a button when the purchase is done). Curious to see where it goes. Nice interpretation of the theme too!
polish and cuteness are INSANE!! Really dig the movement too!
So cute!! I like the bars system. Also, I always wanted a submarine with a revolver.
The madman pixelart character must be the cutest pixelart character in the world!
I'm also a hobbyist and this is my first game jam, so impressed to see alll the creativity and the talent. Thank you for inspiring me!
As a linux person, I will upvote anything with penguins!! Awesome job!!
my browser is stretching the image so that i cannot see anything above and below the 3 immersion suits. Could you fix that?
I managed with a different browser (was using Brave and it bugged out). Really like the idea of the evolution of the character! Couldn't reach level 3, maybe you could be a bit more generous with the hit boxes of the deep sea "mines"? It might be just me, I suck at action games....
Verrry challenging! Thank god for the invert turning button :))) Love it, it's really responsive.
Clever idea, but somehow I ended up playing with myself. Oh well...
💌 monochrome!! The character reminds me of south park. Text bubbles are hilarious!🥳
Stoked to have a linux binary! I get this error though:
$./BuriedDeep
./BuriedDeep: error while loading shared libraries: libsndio.so.6.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Love the music and the overall mood! Agreed with @bw-devel about the improvements. I really dig the final judgement scene, I almost wonder if there could be a random event thrown in there, so each time if you fail similarly you can hope for a different outcome (or maybe for a quicker restart). So creative!!
I was waiting for this!! Hilarious. Really like the font, the graphic and the coherence. Really dig the music too! Simple and straight to the point. Polished.
10/10, would insert finger in nostril again.
5/5! most realistic experience of space station accident. (Includes infinite tether and octopus aliens)*
Jokes aside, love the palette, the coherence, the simplicity and the sensation of freedom. I managed to tether on the other side of the ship! :)
The music is out of this world! Soooooooo goood. Really like how the drums come in on those slow synths. Nice harmonies. So much talent music-wise (I'm a jazz pianist). Graphics and polish are insane as well. The sky effect is amazing. Now a stupid question: how do you shoot?
Such an original idea! Really like the music and the harmony (I'm a pianist). It has a romantic vibe.
Congrats! I like the interpretation of the theme, unexpected and fun. I think there is some overlapping in some UI elements in the Web version, but nothing that gets in the way of the gameplay.
The fact that you did this without an engine blows my mind!!!
Really like the idea and thank you for the linux build! I didn't manage to send newly hatched ants to forage :( They got stuck
The zooming in is mindblowing! I use godot too, and I thought "it would be really cool to zoom in like crazy in a game". It's a game mechanic that we can explore. Also, the graphics is very neat!
The dialogues were hilarious. When I died the third time and it said "IT WORKS!" I got confused, until I read "I mean, it was working until you totaled it" 🤣🤣🤣 Fun!
Thank you for the linux version too!
Wow!! That WAS deep. You took the "deeper and deeper" theme to a whole new level!!! Super unique art style, and super original idea. Congrats!
same here!
great mechanic. at the beginning picking up the anchor each time after use seemed a chore, but then it all made sense
I just realized that there is a different dimension to the game: hold down duck, forget the miners and try to see how fast you can go, and how far while countering the roll. :) So innovative man, the controls feel really good. I still suck at this grrrrrr
thank you!
@sweer more fruitful eggs make eggs spawn more flies. Is that confusing? I didn't know the right word in English I suppose... Thanks for the feedback, the flies are a little funky hahaha
@greg-the-egg thank you! And yes, you can attract the flies but at the end of the day they love being silly flies :)
@nethead Really appreciate the music comment coming from you. I suck at coding so I rushed the music at the end, and the mix def needs some work. I'm a fan of the music on your games.
@dr-v Thank you for pointing it out. Alas, I did not include the .pck (forgot!) but now it's available at itch.io Thank you for taking the time to try it anyways! Also, I like the idea of making you rush to the next egg, but I agree, giving more control could open up the game to a more relaxed and "deeper" gameplay perhaps. Did you manage to beat the game?
@hestrateja maybe because I'm deep into it? Jokes aside, I thought instead of digging down, I wanted to make a game in which you could escape upwards from a deep pile of menure. (Although to win you might need to go a little deeper to find those eggs!!).
@dr-v Thanks. I think you are right. Putting more control on the flies would maybe minimize RNG. Or maybe I can minimize RNG in other ways...
@tim77 Zooming out can be increased by "purchasing" clairvoyance. Also, dragging instead of clicking helps the control. Will think of other options for controls. Thank you for the feedback!
@andrewkennedy haha yeah plot twist: flies are actually alien microdrones
@adamsmccall I think your judgement is strongly biased by your fondness of Poop. I understand that and enjoy the positive feedback.
@neverautomatic the bug about the payment has been fixed. Please check your bank account in 3 to 5 days from now :)
@sawtan @bw-devel funds will be sent in 3-5 days. Check bank account then. Apparently an earlier bug SUBTRACTED that same amount from each user's checkings account. Be sure to check
@spydercrawler I am trying to reproduce that bug. Thanks a lot for bringing it up. I think for some reason the poo counter didn't reset to zero. Imagine infinite poop: not a great sight!
@britt-henderson Thank you so much for the feedback! 1) I think you are 100% right, the power-ups could be more obvious to reward the playing experience more. Between you and me, laser power gives your flies extra speed and flight time, and stronger flies makes the flies live longer (it's perhaps the best upgrade, but as you point out it is not clear enough to the player). 2) I ran out of time at the end and I couldn't code anything glorious enough. So I figured I would troll everybody making a non-functional 1,000,000$ button. But check this out: apparently Bank Of America agreed to pay each winner a real 1,000,000$! Check your bank account in 3 to 5 (or 9999999999) days. :)))
(would give your comment 2 hearts if I could)
Really like the overall feeling, I felt like I was on the brink of something big happening. Music would add a lot (I'm a musician and would love to work together). Does it accelerate indefinitely or was it just my impression of acceleration?
I really think the idea of a "voyage simulator" kicks ass.
This is so addictive! Really love the jump/dig mechanic, never saw it put together like this...
Lovely music and ambience. Really like the sfx. Graphics reminds me of ZakMcKracken!!! btw, I actually never realized that GoPro is "go pro", and that blew my mind 🤣
Really unique, and I kept playing to see if I could time it to reach max velocity. (I kept failing because I have dumb fingers). I also like the black background, the geometric lines, there is a minimalist purity to it!
Sounds very interesting. Any chance you can produce a Linux or OSX executable? Or maybe web?
Congratz!!! Crazy to do it in js. Great idea! I get a "owchies" message, and it says to press y but nothing happens. Did I do something wrong? I am using the Brave browser. Which browser did you test it with? Thanks, and kudos for getting to the end of the jam with your finished game!!!
I have no idea how you programmed it, and I had no idea it could be that much fun. "executing" executed me.
Would love to see a Web version... I downloaded the package but didn't find a binary for linux
Super cohesive, it has a polished retro look. Would love to see power-ups and enemies added. And maybe find a way to reduce RNG. The dash/speedup mechanic is great and makes you feel in control!
So cute!!
Agreed, the mood, the use of light and visibility works really well. Also, URCHINS!!
Congrats :) we made it!!!
@lakshyaisagod thank you! Can't wait. (Would love to see a Linux build or a Web build!)
The mood is very relaxing, I really enjoyed the music, reminded me of Eric Satie. The game is actually quite hard, but the controls are fair. I wonder if smaller green power-ups would help make it more forgiving... Congratulations!!
What a cool idea!! Is the character constantly accelerating? It became REALLY fast :)
This one is surprisingly addictive! Smoothies for productivity... Will keep that in mind for my next jam. Took me a while to figure out the pickaxe digs :)
Love the art style! Reminds me of Day of The Tentacle
