Really fun classic platformer. The art style is great and the story element really adds to it. Some of the sound effects were a little jarring so some level tuning would help. Really fun game!

💌 monochrome!! The character reminds me of south park. Text bubbles are hilarious!🥳
Really nice aesthetic and great color pallete. Nice game!
The character and environment art were interesting. I liked how abstract and clear everything was. The game was a bit short, and I wish that I didn't get stuck on walls. They story was cool, seeking out a flower was rewarding. I guess if this game was light on content, I kind of wanted a better punchline than to just walk out of the screen with the flower in my hand at the end. Was a fun few minutes though, thank you for the game.
@ubershmekel Thanks. I would've liked to add more content but I didnt really have a lot of time in the 2 days. I might work on it post-jam
@liammasters Thanks for the feedback. Audio really isn't my strong point. I've got to work on it.
@crowvax Thanks.
The visuals are really good, and the game is simple and fun to play. The controls could have been better, but not a big issue. It could have used a bit more sound effects and perhaps also some music.
The art style is super polished. A shame there were some texture artifacts when the camera was moving. I have seen that happen in Unity before but can't quite remember what it was, maybe that you need an extra pixel between sprites in spritesheet? Cute mood as well. Platformers are hard to get right so that the controls were lacking is expected.
Nice game, enjoyed the mini puzzles. The controls could use a bit more tuning.
Background art was very nice, nice transition to coloured once you get the flower. Unfortunately the movement and platformer physics felt off and the footstep sound was way too loud. The puzzles weren't very interesting or challenging, some like using a key to get a key seemed pointless. Didn't really explore the theme that I can tell, perhaps taking the flower deeper and deeper once you get it and using it to bring life to the dark monochrome depths could add to it. Really liked the mood of it, Limbo vibes.
@impbox Thanks for the great feedback. There were a few things I would've liked to fix/add but didnt really have the time. I would really like to work on this after the jam to improve the audio, player controller and expand on the gameplay more.
Art is great!
Excels in visuals, lacks a bit in character control. Yeah I know, as @listonos already mentioned, platformer character controller is pure science to do right. I haven't done any myself yet and I am sure I would not make anything better during 48 hours than you did. It just feels a pity when you suffer climbing up the stairs. Perfect length for a jam game, flew through it and enjoyed the visual surprise.
@onnofal Thanks for the detailed feedback. Jumping up those stairs is a bit annoying. Glad to see you liked it otherwise though
This reminded me of UIN - an old game maker game. I really dig the vibe you created - super cool :) Also it was a nice touch that everything gained some colour after picking up the flower.
There could be some polish around the physics (gets stuck on walls, no accel/decel, for example), and more visual cohesion between the textboxes and the game graphics, but overall a nice little game with cool pixel art.
You really made me empathize with that little guy! Beautiful work.
Really nice art! Movement felt a little bit sluggish but i really enjoyed the fade in to color at the ending! Great job!
I feel like the character was a little floaty and the footstep sound seemed a little loud for such a tiny dude. I liked the art, especially at the end it has some nice charm
✔️ I loved the art work, especially how it faded into colour at the end.
✔️ The gameplay was very intuitive.
➖ The game felt a bit short.
I like such simple art a lot. The sounds gave me the motivation to keep going, so the sad guy gets this pretty flower and can be happy again. The end was fine. :)
Cool aesthetic, the game felt really cohesive and the shift from monochrome to colored at the end was a nice touch. It felt like an actual reward for finishing the game. Also : nice level design.
Others said it before but yeah the controls are a bit floaty (as someone who made too much platformer in unity for gamejams I know how hard it is to get right, I really feel you). Even for such a peaceful game it lacks oomph, pump your gravity scale up, don't be afraid to turn all your values to 11.
Other than that it was a cool short game, congratulations on your entry !
Thanks everyone for the feedback. @generalsturgeon @rngames @rakart Character movement is definitely something I'll work on. A lot of people had some issues with it and even playing myself I found that getting up stairs was annoying. I put a bit more time into art this time so I'm glad you liked it.
@mighty-mufflon-games Glad you liked the art and ending transition. Thanks
Very awesome concept especially since you took this on as a compo. I like your choice to use an example to show the user what to do with the trampolines. \o/ Flower RETRIEVED!

This little game is superb!
The controls are reactive- though the gravity is a bit slow and thus the character has a bit of a floaty feel. There is also a bit of a 'bug' with the way that wall collisions work which detracts from the overall experience.
Outside of those two issues 'Pretty Flower' is a beautiful little game with a wonderful aesthetic and very cool gameplay loop. I rather like the color palette, character model, animations, and theme regarding the flower. One could very well see this game being expanded into a full platforming experience with multiple levels!
You did a great job and I am very excited to follow you in future jams!
P.S. - We will send you a link to the video when we have our gameplay video uploaded to YouTube. Thanks for coming by our stream and letting us play your game! :)
Physics need little more tweaking but other than that solid platformer. Graphics are simple but very effective.
Cute and sweet, but it keeps freezing up for me.
What a cute little game. I loved the color at the end. The sound design is a bit loud and clompy, and it could use a nice melody at the end, but I really enjoyed the whole game.
@popdaddygames Thanks so much for the detailed feedback as well as the QA testing on stream. Really helped me find some bugs and have a few more ideas for the future development of the game. I appreciate it.
@yorsh Yeah the character controller needs a few fixes, glad to see you enjoyed it otherwise though.
@lelulagames Thanks. Sound design isn't my expertise and is something I definitely have to work on. Glad to see you still enjoyed it.
This classic platformer is so cute!!! Nice experience to play it 'cause of its simplicity. The only suggestions I have to make here is to fix some of the collisions of the player with the walls, and I would also change the sound effects of his footsteps for something smoother, but this is just me being picky). Game is great with a nice short story and clear objetive! Congrats!
yay got the flower - this put a smile on my face :)
Hey good game and content. Just few things to help you in the future: - increase the jump a bit - fix colision on the flor (I cant jump when im too close the walls) - sound effects are too annoying, maybe change few of them, at least the footstep - I missed a music
I enjoyed the fact that after you take the flower, everything goes back to color, deep. nice game =)
Cool little puzzler, it was the perfect length for the game jam and felt well polished. I liked the graphics, and the color coming into the world when you get to the end is a great touch. Movement felt a little slow to me at the beginning but I quickly got used to it. The only issue I saw was that jumping felt sticky sometimes, when I was too close to a wall I just wouldn’t go up (or down sometimes). Overall very well done, this is a fun game jam game!
Other than the collision bug, this platformer is perfect! Would love to have a dedicated soundtrack with the nice bit SFX as well. The game fits the theme, but only barely... would love to see multiple levels that go "deeper and deeper" and making use of some of the rigid body systems for puzzles/traversal. All in all, stellar plot (no flower = :( sad - flower = :) happy).
Come watch @popdaddygames and I play Pretty Flower on stream! (00:47:30): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1009312502
it's unplayable without a qwerty keyboard
@versatilesponge Sorry about that! The way Unity's old input system is setup it works off of specific keys.
@smilewood @atmctype Yeah the collision bug as well as the general feel of the character controller is something I have to work on. Thanks for the great feedback :)
