LD36 — Ancient Technology

The Trade Network by scriptorum 2016-08-29T05:35:00

I love this game. It is very entertaining to try and connect the villages in an optimal way that lets me not get taxed out of business. I enjoy the random maps, they usually feel very completable right up until the tax rate spikes. I can understand why the American Revolution started over taxes.

Archaic Light by NinjaNic 2016-08-29T04:06:00

This was fun to play, it felt a little grindy however. I think that your end point of 100 was just about right, much more and I may have given up on the game having more to offer. I love your art style, and the ending was fantastic!

Trickery of the Kings by manabreak 2016-08-29T05:21:00

This game is one of the most complete feeling that I have seen in this LD. I live your sound, and the little things like the effects when jumping and landing. I think that your art style worked very well with the platformer style game that you put together, making this a very fun game to play. Some of the jumping challenges seem a little harsh, but that may be my inexperience with jumping talking. Overall very well done.

An Historic Defense by hermetic 2016-08-29T04:23:00

This is quite fun to play! I like your take on ancient technology. The only problem that I had with the game was the very twitchy nature of aiming some of the weapons, but that may be down to the settings that I have on my computer. Nicely done.

Highly-Accurate Shepherd Simulator by Pix3M 2016-08-29T04:35:00

I had a lot of fun playing this! Your character animations are awesome, I especially love the flailing legs when you pick up an animal. The only thing that I didn’t see in your game was an end goal, there seemed to be no reason to increase the number of sheep or keep the wolves away. I did like that you punished me when I started throwing everything, including my family, onto the altar. Lots of fun.

L.M.V. Edison by killthealias 2016-08-29T05:05:00

The audio in your game is fantastic. The moodiness of the pulsing hum really sets the mood very well. I had some trouble with sensitivity looking around, but that may just be my mouse settings. The only problem that I had with this game was interacting with the main computer terminal, it only seemed to process my inputs one in five times, making it quite hard to get anything done with it. I enjoyed this game, and its mood was fantastic.

TrainStack by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2016-08-29T05:45:00

This game looks fantastic. I had trouble understanding the train/trap interaction, as it didn’t always seem to work the way that I expected. I made it almost 6 levels before breaking down and peeking at the solutions. : ) I think that this is an awesome take on the theme, and a great puzzle. I will certainly be trying it again when I am more awake.

Ancient Mars by negativegeforce 2016-08-29T05:13:00

Your graphics style is great. I had trouble with jumping, it seemed that the jump key didn’t work when walking, and when standing still it didn’t always work. Your opening had very long pauses between the text blocks, I think that putting in a button to skip to the next one would have been nice. I think that this game looks very neat, and if the jump was a little more reliable would have been a lot of fun.

No Man Has Gone Before by KevKevOnFire 2016-08-29T04:46:00

This game is quite entertaining for a while. I may have enjoyed it more if there was an ETA, and I was trying to keep as many people alive to the end, but it was a fun balancing act. I live your graphics choices, and the ship systems interacted in ways that I did not always expect. I thought that it was interesting (and maybe not intended) that even after the mission fails you are trapped on a ship, ETA unknown, keeping it running forever, or until you give up and write a comment instead. :) Quite a fun game overall.

Call of the Ancients by fenwick 2016-08-29T04:14:00

Very unique! I was unable to follow through the entire treasure hunt of a game you have set up, as I don’t currently own a phone, but this IRL game is a fun idea.

Archio by Capt Nemo 2016-08-29T04:54:00

“Game”? No, I don’t think so “Awesome, entertaining, beautiful, calming”? For sure. This is increasable to play, even if I have no clue what I am doing. I love the sounds that are created as I drag several cubes in quick succession, and the interaction between the cubes is very well done. This is excellent and quite fun to play with.

Reroute Reboot by OddballDave 2017-12-05T01:15:55Z

Cant wait for the windows build, the one screenshot looks like this will be quite an interesting game!

Reroute Reboot by OddballDave 2017-12-05T23:37:43Z

This was as fun as it looked from the screenshot last night. I found the gameplay quite entertaining, and it took a couple of attempts to figure out a strategy that worked well. I found the interface for port-forwarding quite intuitive (after reading the instructions on this page) and the only thing I may have changed would be to have a shorter cycle. I found it annoying sometimes to be clicking on 10 little dots if I wanted to focus the output of a node somewhere (which I ended up doing a lot). I really liked the graphics for the map, I found it fairly easy to tell which nodes belonged to which faction, and it felt very well balanced. I did notice a problem with looking at the bottom of the globe, it was sometimes hard to find Jang Bogo. I couldn’t tell, but did the opponents have any strategy or bonuses, or were they just sitting on the default generation and forwarding settings the whole time?

I don’t see what your interpretation of the theme is, as far as I could tell the more of anything (access points, mainframes, data packets) I had the better off I was. The only thing that may have gotten worst in the number of incoming packets spreading my defenses thinner, but it really wasn’t that much of a problem because as soon as I was able to get another mainframe I overwhelmed everyone else.

I had a lot of fun playing this. Great submission!

Intelligent Fireball Cleanup Detail by smilewood 2017-12-06T00:17:25Z

@mrthee, @notpresident35, @william-bundy I agree, it really benefits when the fireballs have sound. Initially I had a placeholder sound that i found somewhere, but I ran out of time to figure out how to make one myself.

@notpresident35 My goal with the speed was to make you just a bit slower then the fireballs when you had 50 armor. I wanted to be able to outrun them if you were at low health, and to let them swarm you if you were at high health.

@william-bundy I had a lot of trouble with making it clear what the range of the water gun was. the best i got was the sphere in front of you disappears if it is inside of the target, and is right at the extent of your range.

Intelligent Fireball Cleanup Detail by smilewood 2017-12-06T01:03:04Z

@batmanasb I will definitely keep that in mind for next time. I had a variable that controls that, I could have just linked it to a slider in the setting. Thanks!

Superhero Problems by boddiul 2017-12-06T01:43:04Z

Really fun game to play, I start out wanting to avoid the civilians, then by the end decide that a ground level firing of the eye-lazor is the most effective way to do things. I really like the art style, and all of the weapons felt like they had a place and a time to use them. I think that the game may have benefited from something like a mega-boss or the civilians attacking you once you got to full power, and presumably gave up on the protection business. "the needs of the many" and all that.

I had a lot of fun playing this game, it was a good time.

MOAR ENGINES by batmanasb 2017-12-06T01:18:48Z

What a great take on the theme. I really appreciated the results screen that told me that my results made it not follow the theme. While my speed was apparently not worse with MOAR ENGINES, I found it really interesting that the length of the car was what started to get in the way. I expected the problem to be more speed making it impossible to navigate the track.

The track looks good and in interesting to drive around. I really like the effects from hitting sand or the walls. The sound effects are fun, and had me grinning the whole time I was playing. Great submission!

Towers for Nuclear by DeathStorm 2017-12-05T01:01:42Z

Really fun game to play. Great graphical work for the time limit, and the gameplay felt very natural. Interesting interpretation of the theme, although it didn’t feel like I had a choice about building more towers, so I didn’t notice the escalation of difficulty while playing. Great job!

Bleak by botreats 2017-12-05T01:11:43Z

I love the art style of this game, the darkness effect was really nice. I did find it hard to tell where I was shooting sometimes, and a couple of times I seemed to get stuck on invisible walls. Other than that the gameplay felt very smooth, and was quite fin and hard. I would have liked to see an exit button in the game, but overall it was a great game.

Afterthought: I would have liked instructions in the game itself, I did not see the weapon switch keys until I was posting this comment. Back to the game! Afterthought two: I really like the interpretation of the theme that you went with, it looks great and is subtle but impactful.

A Dying City by minimurgle 2017-12-05T01:36:05Z

You asked for criticism, so here goes with all of my thoughts as I play your game.

...Yay, volume settings and good music!

...It would be nice to have some indication from the map what I am doing in each district, there are a lot of them to keep track of. Also, maybe some indication of what each of the numbers mean.

...Is the crime rate how much the crime level increases by? What happens when it increases? The breaking news just told me that a factory has gone bankrupt in (unityengine.gameobject). Interesting, I don’t know where that is. Also, what does a factory closing mean for the game? More crime is my guess.

...I have no public opinion, and have not for three turns, but I haven’t lost? It just keeps warning me that I will be replaced
. Now the game ends when I ran out of money. Does the low opinion just drain my money?

Overall I really like the concept that you are going for. It makes sense with regards to the theme, and seems like it would be quite the interesting challenge with a little more polish on the interface. However the interface has no good indicators of what effect different actions will have on the state of the world, and my random guessing (more police in places with high crime rates, fight in places with high crime levels) ended up with me having a lot of money and no public opinion. That is really the only problem that I had with this game, it wasn’t able to tell me what I needed to do to succeed at it. I think that it is a great game, especially as a first entry into LD, and all that it would have needed to grab my attention for a lot longer is more feedback and interface polish. Great job!

Rocket Jump by RahmKota3 2017-12-06T01:01:15Z

Fun to play, while I am not all that good at rocket jumping this was a fun challenge. I really liked your interpretation of the theme, it made me have to strike an interesting balance between having enough rockets to retry a jump if I messed up and being light enough to make the jump in the first place. I think that the game would have benefited a lot from some sound, but it doesn’t detract from the fun of some good old rocket jumping.

How To War by machrom 2017-12-06T00:47:15Z

Fun management game. I felt that the fire was a little too powerful, in order to get enough factories to satisfy demand they had to be close together, then fire spread through the whole place faster than I could deconstruct a fire block in front of it. Wiped out most of my factories and trees in one swoop, then bankrupted me when the rest of the trees ate up the money. It really drove home the theme though, I had more and it was worse. Much worse.

I really liked the factory graphic, especially the helicopter that came through to grab the supplies. The music was fine, and a good effort for a first time. Overall quite fin to play.

Artifact by notpresident35 2017-12-06T00:25:13Z

Well themed. I really like the vibe of the game, running around with a flashlight in the dark is always fun. I did find the head movement while walking a little extreme, and I had some trouble aiming the laser (assuming I was meant to shoot the glowing aliens). The game was a bit laggy, but nothing unplayable. If I had to guess about the lag I would say lighting, but I am willing to give up frames to get the environment of this game. I also really liked the ambient sound of the game world. Great game!

Tri-Angle by FussenKuh 2017-12-06T01:25:31Z

Interesting take on the "fling things right" style. I like your take on the theme, and the game is fun to play. Interesting choice going for a mobile platform, fun game.

Under the Wheats by mrthee 2017-12-06T00:09:19Z

Interesting, to say the least. I had quite a bit of fun playing this. I did have some trouble getting them to go where I wanted, especially to mate. Sometimes it seemed like the clicks just didn’t register if I was right-clicking on some of the Emus. I really like the eating animation for the Emus.

Lantern by hasuprobe 2017-12-05T23:55:49Z

This is a beautiful game. I really love the lantern effect and the design of the character as well as the monsters. I thought the all of the animation of the character was great, and I especially liked the game over animation. I really liked the concept as well, keeping vague monsters just outside of the light was very effective. I also thought that the music was great and perfectly fitted the theme of the game.

I did have some problems with the actual interface. The back button in the options screen is very hard to find, it blended in very well with the lantern hanging in the top corner. There also didn’t seem to be anything after the game over, it just faded to black and stayed there with no options.

While this is a fantastic environmental game I didn’t see much of the theme in it. What is it that gets worst if you have more of something? Fears themselves? That would be very Meta, I like it. Complaint revoked. Thanks for the fantastic game!

LD42 — Running out of space

Dark Forest by Tero Pulkkinen 2018-08-13T04:00:59Z

Really interesting scenery, and neat that it works in VR, but I don’t see any gameplay or connection to the theme.

Words Dancer by Ango 2018-08-13T04:23:36Z

Fun game, I like the ability to sit and think about my next move for a minute. I did have some trouble figuring out when I would be able to shoot again, I couldn’t find any pattern to it. I thought that your sound was great, both the music and sound effects. The art style was pretty good; some of the text on the main menu was a bit small, but once in-game everything was very readable and looked good. Great contribution to Ludum Dare!

SPACEFORCE! Funding Secured. by khaotom 2018-08-13T04:06:27Z

Fantastic game. I really loved your background audio, it fit the game really well. The animation of the walls coming in on me was also great, and almost seemed to be synched with the music. The player felt a little slow at first, but as the amount of space ran out it felt fine. Good entry!

Rising Tide by smilewood 2018-08-13T00:03:35Z

@squirmonkey To build factories you need to have at least two houses per factory. When you click on an empty space all of the options are there (I didn’t have time to grey out buildings when you couldn’t build them), but you need two houses per factory and one store per three houses. I hope that helps!

Rising Tide by smilewood 2018-08-13T00:15:07Z

@mrnyarlathotep To build factories you need to have at least two houses per factory. I guess I didn’t make that very clear in the instructions, but that is the restriction. I just tested the web build and I can build them, so I would guess that could be the problem. Also, the higher up the island you build the more expensive land is, so it could be possible that you just don’t have enough money for the factories.

Rising Tide by smilewood 2018-08-13T03:56:38Z

@squirmonkey Interesting... I don't know how either of those numbers could have gone negative, it should only have subtracted one from the current number each time one was destroyed. I will be taking a look at that tomorrow, although I don't think that it is a large enough bug to warrant rebuilding the game. I would guess that the -2 factories is a direct result of the -4 houses, but i don't know how houses went negative: probably something else was destroyed and subtracted from houses instead of what it was supposed to. Thanks for the feedback!

Rising Tide by smilewood 2018-08-13T04:55:25Z

@mertios Yeah, I had the number 41 in my head when I was making that menu way too late at night last night. I found several "LD41"s in the game and fixed them, but I guess I missed one.

Anatomically Drunk by Moczan 2018-08-13T00:08:53Z

Great game! It is hilarious to watch the little guy stumble around flailing wildly. I thought that the music was also really well suited to the game, a bit mellow. The one thing that tripped me up while playing was the fact that when the level changed my character was still wandering in the direction that he was on the previous one, causing me to immediately go off the ledge. Other than that this was a great Ludum Dare game and I had a lot of fun with it.

Space Factory by mrnyarlathotep 2018-08-13T01:06:52Z

I really like the look of this game, the planet looks awesome, and I love the effect of the space spinning around the planet when time is sped up. I think that the game could have used a little more introduction, as I now see you mentioned in your description, I wasn’t sure exactly what the point was while playing. I think that a bit more polish could make this a great fun game.

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-13T04:31:27Z

I like the twist on the theme! Your art is awesome, I really love the bunny, and the sound design is quite good. I liked the surprise twist when a little platformer suddenly turned into a click a button a bunch of times game, although I was a bit disappointed that the platforming didn’t come back after I sunk a bunch of time into upgrading the carrot generator. Fun little entry, good job!

Running out of Keys by OadT 2018-08-12T23:46:43Z

A very interesting take on a puzzle game. I quite like the concept of moving to the literal key that you press, and this game is a great execution of that. It did take me a little while to figure out that I could only move to the adjacent keys, and a couple of deaths to figure out to hit the keys in order; you may want to consider adding a tutorial to your games in the future. But it didn’t take all that long, and was really fun to play. I liked the sounds of moving around the keyboard. Good job overall.

Too Many Boxes by Silvae 2018-08-13T01:20:39Z

I enjoyed this game, it was a lot of fun to play. The little moments of panic every time boxes started coming faster and the rush to stack them faster were great. I did find it a little difficult to pick up the boxes sometimes, it seemed like I was close enough but the box was still highlighted red. I quite liked the art style of the game, and the sound effects were good. It could have used some ambient sound to really pull me in. Great fun entry!

Emissary by Handle 2018-08-13T04:17:11Z

Rather difficult game to play, it kept getting me that pressing and holding space didn't make me hover, i had to press it again. It was a little framey in the web build, but overall very fun to play and good sound design! Nice job.

Emissary by Handle 2018-08-13T04:34:04Z

@handle That makes perfect sense for the spacebar holding, i just wasn't used to it in the beginning. I wouldn't worry too much about the web build, it wasn't very bad, as in it didn't make the game unplayable or even hard to play, it was just something that I noticed.

Volka by Cisco 2018-08-13T03:49:28Z

This is a quite fun game, I really like the concept, and it fits the theme very well. It took me a while to figure out that I could stop moving and start aiming again, I spent a couple of minutes just launching at a wall. Maybe consider adding an in-game tutorial or instructions to your next game. Once I figured out that important mechanic I found this to be a very interesting game. I wanted to approach it like a puzzle, but the expanding ring stopped that. I really liked your sound effects, I think they fit the game quite well. Good job!

Edge Of Space by Valden 2018-08-12T23:38:48Z

Awesome graphics style, and a lot of fun to play. I really like the music and the feel of the game play. While some of the weapons didn’t do it for me, I really like how they all feel different. Cool twist on the theme that makes each round of game play stay short without making it too obvious. Overall really great submission.

backSpace-X by omercanbalandi 2018-08-13T02:02:34Z

Fun space shooter! It took me a while to notice that I could upgrade and heal, but once I did I had a lot of fun with this game. It has great sounds, both background music and effects. I also really like the art, the asteroids look especially good. The upgrades to the ship feel like a good power increase, I could feel them as soon as they were active, and the enemies scaled up at a good rate to match. The only thing that I did not enjoy about the gameplay was that the hitbox on my ship sometimes felt like it was larger than the graphic, I sometimes got hit by something that I thought was going to miss me. This was a really fun game to play, great entry!

Running out of Space by Gaoyuan Chen 2018-08-13T03:10:55Z

This game was lots of fun, and surprised me by how into it I got. The beginning levels I was thinking that it was super easy and just a puzzle, but then the challenge started. I like that you had a bunch of different phases of the game, it made it a lot more fun to play. It took me a while to see the words on the side that were warning me about the changing challenge. I thought that the sound effects were quite good and perfectly fit the game, although I would have liked some background music of some sort. This was a very fun game, good job!

Anxiety by TontonPizza 2018-08-13T01:46:06Z

This game is a fantastic little mood study. I really liked the art style, how the character left footsteps behind, and the text constantly cluttering the blackness. I think that this perfectly exhibited the feeling of the world closing in on you and making it hard to focus and remember where you are or what is happening. This is a great little game, well done!

Claustro by Taimidori 2018-08-13T04:02:44Z

@taimidori Your links to the game lead to the itch.io 404 page. I would guess that you didnt make the itch.io page public, because I did the same thing when I put my game up.

[Running Out of Spac] by Sean Doyle 2018-08-13T00:01:37Z

Interesting little space shooter game. I really like the art for both the player ship and the enemies. The hardest part of the gameplay was how slowly the ship turns, it was often difficult to get lined up on the enemies to be able to shoot them down. I wish that holding down the fire button had kept the ship firing, even at a slower rate than spamming click, my finger was getting tired near the end. I think that this game would have benefited a lot from some sounds, it would have made it feel like a more real space. Good job with this game!

TightFloe by Catgol1 2018-08-12T23:54:14Z

What a sad game. I thought that it was really well done, although the controls were a little confusing at first. It was incredibly difficult to keep track of the two babies and their needs and the disintegrating ice sheet. I liked your sounds, they added a lot to the atmosphere of the game. Well-done representation of the life of a penguin stuck on an iceberg.

Cup Space by itsjustjord 2018-08-13T02:36:18Z

Fun game with a very simple mechanic. As many people have mentioned, the optimal strategy seemed to be to just hit the spacebar as fast as possible, but that was fine as it was quite fun to watch the cups bounce around. I really liked your music and sound effects, they did a lot for the quality of the game, even if the cup falling off the table sound was playing almost constantly at the end. I thought that your art was quite good, although the loading screen with a face staring at me was a bit creepy. For a first attempt at a Ludum Dare game I would say that this was a fantastic entry. Well done!

Bloody Cell by GuardHei 2018-08-13T02:27:40Z

Your links all seem to be broken, itch.io is saying that the page doesn't exist. I hope that gets fixed, I would love to play the game.

Bloody Cell by GuardHei 2018-08-13T02:49:40Z

This is quite a fun little shooter, I really enjoyed it. I think that your art style was really great, I loved the effect of the enemies exploding into little fragments and leaving a splatter behind. I did think that the camera shake was a little much at times, especially when moving around it could get a little nauseating. The gameplay was quite easy, I didn’t get swarmed as much as I thought I might, and once I had leveled up to level three nothing could stand in my way. I really liked the ability to use your health as an attack, even if I only realized that it was using my health after it killed me. I thought that you had some pretty good sound design, the effects pulled me into the game, and the background wasn’t distracting. I didn’t see how this fit into the Running Out Of Space theme, but that may have been because I was killing the enemies too fast to feel pinned in by them. For a first Ludum Dare entry this is a great submission, I know that I still haven’t figured out how to make sounds on my own. Lots of fun, great job.

Running out of Space by 314owen 2018-08-13T04:11:09Z

Cool little puzzle-platformer. I loved your art style, especially when passing in front of the sun, and I thought that the gameplay of being able to move some parts of the map was really fun. It was cool that the blocks only moved under my control when they were onscreen, I had to go back at one point and get one that I thought was following me. I liked your audio design, I thought that it fit the game well. Overall really great submission.

Butterfly Catching by felixnemis 2018-08-13T03:39:31Z

Interesting little game. It was fun running around after butterflies, then remembering that the platforms were falling out from under me and quashing to patch them up. I thought that your gameplay was quite smooth and played well, although I never got all that worried about the lose condition, I was always able to keep one or two bridges to each platform. Maybe speeding up the decay? Fun game.

Countdown by Elnu 2018-08-13T03:01:23Z

Neat little concept game, I thought that it fit the theme very well. I liked how the hexes that the player character was on counted down faster, it felt like it was incentivizing me to run around as much as possible and not stay in one place. The only thing that I had trouble with was the movement controls, I couldn’t always tell where I was going to end up as sometimes when I pressed the key I barely moved and sometimes I shot around at hyper speeds. The jump was also difficult to figure out for the same reason. I love the simple art style of the shifting colored hexes, and that you had an option to set up your own. Having the countdowns on the hexes instead of just the colors was cool, it really increased the pressure of being near a tile. The music was fine, but the sound effects were all fantastic. I thought that this was a good, fun game to play.

Space Runner by Guilhermoni 2018-08-13T03:44:25Z

@guilhermoni The link to your web build leads to a 404 page. Given that it is itch.io I would guess that the game's page just wasn't made public.

Zlinx by frontlinesaint 2018-08-13T04:38:35Z

This is a really well done game. I really like the music, and while it is a simple interpretation of the theme I think that it really works well. The art is really well done and the game plays well, it is fun and smooth to jump up and around. The levels that I tried were just the right amount of challenging, and the instant restart made it not feel all that bad to fail and have to try again. Very well done, especially as a first Ludum Dare entry.

Faceguy by EmCannon 2018-08-13T02:09:58Z

Fun short game, it took me a while to notice that the walls got closer when the bullet hit them. I couldn’t figure out what the bombs did, even after figuring out how to drop them, but it was fun to play around dodging the bullet for a while. I did like the sounds that you had in the game. Overall very well done.

Not Enough Space by Madar Games 2018-08-13T03:34:09Z

Fun game, I really liked the art and physics of the character running around. I think that idea of having the inventory on top of the screen and getting in the way of the gameplay was fantastic. The music, while it did get a little repetitive, was pretty good, although I wish that there had been some sound effects for the guns and enemies. I liked that you could jump on top of the enemies heads when out of ammo, which for me happened a lot. My biggest complaint about the game would be that there weren’t enough drops, and especially not enough ammo drops. I spent my first five or so waves missing most shots with the revolver then having to jump around on heads for a while until another drop happened. That problem went away around when I got the Uzi, and from that point what I thought of as the real game, arranging my inventory to not be in the way, started in earnest. I thought that this was a really fun game, great submission!

Ludum Delivery by Korso 2018-08-13T01:35:05Z

This game was surprisingly addicting. A great simple concept perfectly executed and with awesome graphics and sounds. It took me a while to figure out how to send the trucks away, maybe having an n-screen button to send them when ready would be helpful, but once I had it down the game flowed perfectly. I lived the sounds and animation for the trucks. It was a joy every time I managed to get a perfect truck. Well done!

Kitchen Nightmare by Fadex 2018-08-13T01:15:21Z

Nice little game. I really like the art style and music, they lend to the light playful theme amazingly. I did have trouble with the actual game, it was very difficult to tell what could be combined into food on the fly because there are so many ingredients and recipes. Which was the whole point I guess. I thought that managing the table and fridge was a lot of fun and felt good, so maybe something like a pause to look at recipes, or drag an ingredient to a cookbook to see everything you can combine with it would have helped me. I thought that this was a lot of fun to play, great entry.

Lab by Kristov 2018-08-12T23:28:37Z

Interesting concept, and the atmosphere of the game is awesome. I did have a couple of problems with it: There is no way to tell where the exit may be, so most games start out going the wrong direction then loosing because of it; moving in a straight line is kind of annoying because you have to tab the key over and over, although I do understand that this is so that a wall doesn’t pop up in the player’s way; finally it is completely random if you win or not, whether or not you do go the right direction right off the bat. It could also benefit from sound during the game, the silent lab is kind of boring to move around in. I do like your sounds in the menu, even just including something like that each time the player moved would have been good. Great submission!

Petri Panic! by Zeaga 2018-08-14T01:45:31Z

Nice entry! I love the art style and the music really lends itself to the overall game. This is a great concept for the Running Out of Space theme, I enjoyed watching the slime flow across the floor. It was also a cool idea to have it continue to grow in the bucket to the point where it could spill out to the floor while you carried it, that made the game a lot harder and more interesting. It does make me worry about the poor sanitation workers at the local sewage treatment plant though, what if the slime keeps growing? The one place the game felt lacking was the interaction with the world; while picking up the slime was fun for a while it quickly lost interest, almost as soon as I saw that it was a fundamentally impossible task based on how I started. I think that having some interaction beyond just walking over the slime could have made the gameplay perfect. It is overall a very fun game, and I enjoyed playing it. Nice job!

shipme (Starbase Shipping Simulation) by lsummers 2018-08-13T04:51:16Z

This was a rather fun game. It took me a while to figure out that some trucks only took certain colors of box, but once I did it was a lot of fun. I really liked the sound design, both the background audio track and the sound effects were great and fit the theme well. I enjoyed the progression of trucks and docks. I did find some of the smaller boxes to be rather difficult to click on and towards the end was just letting them fall into the sun. I really appreciated the tutorial/story introduction at the beginning, this was one of the only games I have seen this Ludum Dare that has introduced the game so well. fantastic entry, great job!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Arden's Artisan Artefacts by blinry 2018-12-11T04:56:39Z

This is a neat concept. I like the interpretation of the theme. I thought that the artwork was well done, and I liked the music ad sounds. I did find it a bit difficult to build the sculptures because of the mouse scrolling, it took a lot of scrolls on my mouse to get things to spin around. Partially because of this and partially because I am not that great at sculpture I didn’t get that into this game, but I did like the concept. It was hard for me to tell what the goal was for the shape-based sculptures, I couldn’t tell if I was losing progress from going outside the lines. This was an interesting concept, and well done in this small time frame, great job!

Human Resource by Megalink 2018-12-11T04:12:36Z

Great game. You absolutely nailed the mood, I loved the feeling of darkness and light that you managed in this game. The sounds were also awesome and perfectly matched the mood. I liked the interesting puzzle elements that you introduced throughout the game, it made it a much more experience than just throwing workers at enemies. I do wish that I had been able to save more workers though. At least for me I had to throw every last one at the enemies to finish the game, so I felt less bad about the sacrifice because the game forced me to do it. I think that if I had been able to save someone other than myself I would have felt worse about the ones that I left behind. Overall this is an awesome atmospheric game, I am really happy that I played it. Great job!

Otto by nratcliff 2018-12-11T05:16:46Z

This was quite fun to play around with, I really loved the grainy old look that you managed to pull off with it. I thought that the physics of the gliders was very well done, although I was able to stack many wings on top of each other and get better and better glides out of it. Your music was very well done and I thought that it fit into the theme very well. I liked the way that you tied this game into this LDs theme; while I wasn’t the one making sacrifices in the game it was connected to sacrifices that has been made in the past. Awesome submission, well done!

Ps. It would have been awesome to have a web build. You used Unity, so you should be able to just build for webGL and host it on itch.io along with your downloads

En Passant by Paul Nadan 2018-12-11T05:03:47Z

I thought that this was an interesting concept. The idea of controlling a pawn in a platformer was awesome. I did find the combat almost impossible to get the hang of because of having to jump then hit space to attack, I instinctively wanted to either hit space to jump or to attach without jumping first (also, the other pawns were cheating and attacking me straight on without using angles. How rude.) I think that a bit more polish on the control and combat systems could make this an awesome and unique game. great job for one weekend!

The Life of a Corporate Drone by Slashee the Cow 2018-12-11T04:02:04Z

This is a cool little concept game, I found it really difficult to balance everything, and then the sacrifices piled up on top of each other. I really loved your art style for this, I think that it worked really well. As you said, it could have benefited from audio, but I don’t think that the lack of audio took that much away from the gameplay, it was still a frantic scramble to futilely attempt to keep the bars up. I thought that it was an interesting mechanic to have the bars fall and refill at different rates, it made it hard to balance because I was constantly thinking that I could put it off a bit more because It would come back quickly. Well done, this was a fun entry!

Respawn Bot by Fenerax 2018-12-11T04:30:40Z

I really love your art style. The robot is super cute and I love all of the different animations that it has. Your sounds are also really well matched to the game. I did find some of the controls a bit hard to use. I think that the air control that the robot has is a little too much; all throughout the game I found myself expecting momentum from my jumps and then falling into the spikes. Along with that I would have liked to be moved along by the moving platforms instead of having to tap the direction to stay on them, especially with the platform where I had to stand on a robots tiny head while it moved. Otherwise, I thought that the level design was great, it did a good job of feeding me new mechanics as I went through the game and each got harder and harder. I never felt like I was sacrificing anything however; the robots that I used to create myself a path through the levels felt like disposable parts rather than something to try and keep alive as long as possible. I thought that this was a really awesome game overall though; it has some great art and theming as well as an interesting set of puzzles. Great job!

ps. It would have been awesome to have a web build. You used Unity, so you can just build for webGL and host it on itch.io along with your downloads

Chickens For My Lord by Zayah0_0 2018-12-11T03:36:57Z

This is a great little top-down shooter. I like the way that ammo only comes from completing the primary goal, it pushed me to actually collect the chickens and dodge the farmers. The controls for this game were pretty good, moving the character around and shooting felt good. I think that while the background music was good the game could have used some sound effects for actions like moving and shooting, without them it was a bit samey while walking around and made it a bit harder to get into the action. Overall a really fun little game, great job!

Unicorn Rescue by devharts 2018-12-11T05:30:09Z

I thought that, while the gameplay itself was very simple, this is a perfect example of what a Ludum Dare game should be: a very well-polished small concept. I loved your art style, both the backgrounds and characters were very well done. I loved all of the animations on the unicorn. In terms of the gameplay, while it was fairly simple, I found the movement and interaction to work completely perfectly. It would be interesting to see where this game as a concept could go in the future, but if it is a one weekend project to learn a new engine then you nailed it. Great job!

Newton's Last Resort by WiredOverload 2018-12-11T03:45:40Z

I think that this is great concept for a Ludum Dare game. It does a great job of demonstrating the concept that it is going for. I found it to be a bit short and it felt a bit pointless, it took a couple of deaths before I noticed the score at the top when I died. Perhaps showing the score ticking up while in the minefield, or having a goal at the end of the field would have helped that. I would have also liked to be able to see my health, I didn’t see it anywhere. I do think that you did a great job with the physics mini-game aspect of your concept, it was very well done and was natural to pick up and understand. I think that your sounds were great, both the background music and sound effects perfectly matched the theme of the game. This was a great execution of this LDs theme, well done!

Sacrifices must be Made In China by yilian 2018-12-11T04:44:02Z

This is an interesting game, thought I didn’t see much of a challenge to it as it currently is. I played for a while and never got offered a contract that would have cost me more in materials then I made from it, so it was always just the best option to complete every contract. I think that with a bit more polish and balance this could become a much more interesting and challenging game. I did like your UI, it worked very well and was intuitive to use. The names of all of the companies were funny. Overall, I thought that the game was interesting but didn’t see many sacrifices that needed to be made. It was a cool game that just needed a bit of balance. Great work for a weekend!

Ps. It would have been awesome to have a web build. You used Unity, so you could just build for webGL and host it on itch.io along with your downloads

Jetsam by Zeaga 2018-12-11T03:15:26Z

I really liked this game, I think that it is a great interpretation of this jams theme. I do think that it could have used a bit more depth; there seemed to be a definitive winning strategy, throw the heavy or inexpensive stuff off the ship, which made it feel less like a sacrifice. I really like your art style, the theming of the ship and water was awesome! I'm not sure that the background music was perfectly suited to it though, to me it felt more like arcade game then oceangoing ship music. Great entry to this LD overall!

Welcome President by Ender7 2018-12-11T03:28:27Z

I think that this is a fun little choice game, I could see it doing well on a mobile platform where I could just sit and flick back and forth for a long time. It is a great set of factors to balance and have to choose between, making some decisions more interesting. I do think that the game could do with more decisions, I didn’t play for that long and started to see repetitions, and it may be more interesting if the decisions had effects on several different facets of the game, although that may require having more than just the 4-way pie and two neighboring countries to juggle.

I found it a bit difficult to determine how to sign the proposals at first, the drag it to the side mechanic is never explained and I thought that the two sides represented the neighboring countries. You could consider something more like an outbox/trashcan on the sides of the desk or some rubber-stamps akin to Papers Please. I also think that this game could have benefited a lot from a background music track. The sound effects were great for all the actions that I took but while I was reading the proposals it was very quiet. Overall, I thought that this was a great game, well done!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Little Something by Meta-link 2019-10-13T16:42:43Z

Really cool take on this LDs theme! I thought that your graphics were quite cool, and I like the design of having things unlock as items get placed by everyone. It was quite cool to wander around and see a group of objects and know that those were placed by another player. Well done!

New.AI by smilewood 2019-10-09T03:34:44Z

@ketura The sound for the saws is actually a chop-saw, I just recorded it and used a clip. I can confirm that it is possible to get past all the saws, but is also a bit of a pain. And I agree with you and @lex and @gabrielgamedev, there was a bit too much text. When I was frantically trying to put together a level I just threw it in wherever it seemed to fit, but in playing through after some sleep I think that the amount that I had may have been better in a game about two or three times as long.

Thanks for all of the feedback, I hope you enjoined the game (once you got past the dialogue spam)

The Monumental Race by NIGIC 2019-10-09T02:58:20Z

I quite like the concept, and on a high level it is well executed. The art for this game looks awesome, and I think that it works well with the theme. I did have some trouble figuring out how the tiles affected each other, it took me a couple of times reading through the rules to figure it out. Once I did I found it to be an interesting game to play as a single player. This is definitely a game that benefits from having someone else sit down and play it with you, doing so brought out a whole challenging side of the game because of having to compete for the tiles and the pressure of not being able to just accumulate money.

I would have liked to have a way to go back to the menu or at least view the manual from the gameplay screen. I was playing in fullscreen and had to alt-f4 the game and restart it. While having sound, especially some kind of background track, would have been nice playing it single player I did not notice it when playing multiplayer. I did see a little layering issue when winning the game where the tiles were on top of the text telling me the game was over.

Overall a great game, impressive work for a 48 hour game! This feels like a game that I could keep coming back to over and over as a board game with a bit more polish behind it. Well designed, fun to play, great job!

Click the Balloons by SaraJS 2019-10-13T17:21:20Z

An interesting concept game. It didn’t do it for me, but I think that it is well done. The slow buildup of new things that have their own unique rules is interesting, and I did enjoy figuring out the first few rules. I thought that the sound effects were quite good, and I think that the simple art was perfect for the concept. I did have an issue when I restarted that the audio never came back until I refreshed the page, but otherwise no issues gameplay wise. This is a well done and interesting concept.

Mall-icious Intent by superjai 2019-10-09T02:58:44Z

Great looking game, it has a very distinct style that lends to the fun nature of the game. I liked the music and sounds, I thought that they were well done and fit perfectly. The gameplay itself is very simple, but I thought that it was quite well polished and felt fun to play. Just mashing the dodge and attack keys together seemed to be an effective strategy, I got a high score of 5375. I did find it quite difficult to see, and therefore dodge, the ranged attacks, but they did provide a good challenge. Overall I found this to be a very solid game, great job!

Island of the Coconut Spirit by candlesan 2019-10-13T02:24:22Z

I really enjoyed this game, I ended up spending way more time playing it then I expected. The polish on the graphics are great, and I loved the animation of the little characters bouncing along to the fantastic music. As I played I just kept finding myself wanting to build more and more, which led to never quite having enough to finish the game. Very fun.

I thought that it was an interesting decision to have the cost of the houses scale up as more were built, but to have the cost of everything else stay constant. This led to me ending up with a lot of pigs and trying to come up with ways to contain them and stop them from competing for the same trees. I also found that the alter was almost pointless to build, as far as I could tell the bonus that it gave never really scaled up, and collecting from several houses, allowing it to work, played havoc with the pathing of my people. These complaints were very minor though, I thought that this was a great game overall and has an amount of polish that I see in very few LD games. Great job!

DAY/ONE by DrunkardWolf 2019-10-13T02:23:49Z

This is a cool turn-based strategy game, and I think that it does a good job fitting into the theme. I think that there were two things that detracted form my enjoyment of it, a lack of information and the game control. It would have been nice for gameplay to have more information about the enemies so that I could have planned my moves more clearly; not knowing anything about their health or abilities made it feel like I was just gambling whenever I moved towards them. I also felt a lack of feedback from the game about what I was selecting. At times I would have trouble selecting one of my characters, or when two of the enemies stacked into one space I couldn’t tell which I was clicking. The other control improvement that I would have loved would be some way to move the camera, when fighting at the far side of the map I had trouble selecting anything.

I think that you nailed the art design for this game. The levels, characters, and enemies are great. The gameplay itself, while simple, is well done and I did not encounter any major issues, other then what I mentioned above. I thought that the background music was great for the environment that you were setting, and I liked the other sound effects. Overall a great game, that with some polish I could see being an amazing experience.

The Idea Explorer by Sebastian-M 2019-10-09T03:00:35Z

This concept for this theme is awesome. I really like the direction that you took the theme. Your execution of your concept is great, I love the effect that hides the map except where the idea is forming. Stylistically this is one of the best game jam games I have seen in a while. This game felt very calming to play, and I think that it does a good job communicating what you were trying to communicate. I found it odd that the continue dialogue button was labeled skip, I spent a minute when I first opened the game trying to advance the dialogue without hitting the button, and the game either exited or crashed when I hit the spacebar, which I didn’t expect at all. Those were the only issues that I had with this game though, very well done, I would love to see this concept taken even further!

A shroomy adventure by thetatautau 2019-10-13T02:24:50Z

This game has a great graphical style, I thought that it really worked with the story that you tell in it. I quite liked the effect that you used throughout the game as the parts of the world came to life. I think that this game fit the theme quite well, it gave me a good sense of starting the game not knowing what to expect from the world. I liked your choice for how to display the text that fed me the story. The platforming in the game felt a little bit janky, sometimes the character would flip to try and orient to the ceiling or the jump would barely lift me off the ground. Speaking of the character, its design and that of the enemies was awesome, they really have a unique look to them. I also loved the bird at the end, it was a good way to cut off the world and put an end on the game. I did miss having sounds or music, but I well understand over scoping the project and not having time for them, and what you did produce is awesome! This game starts off well, and definitely has great potential with some polish and more game. Great LD entry!

Invasion by gwinnell 2019-10-13T02:22:24Z

Fun little puzzle game concept. As most of the commenters have said, I wish there were some more levels, although I don’t think that many more were necessary for a game jam. I quite like the puzzle element that goes along with the three stages of your plant growth, it was interesting to have to juggle expanding and just having available defense. The graphics were nice and clean, although the billboarding effect on the flowers and trees while rotating was a bit jarring. Overall a great entry, I could see myself playing a more expanded level set for a long time.

Entertain Your Damn Self by RedHermit 2019-10-13T17:20:08Z

Interesting concept. I think that it fits really well with the theme, but as has been said already doesn’t do much in the game department. I really liked the screen resizing as more and more orbs were placed. The placement sound was quite good, but I could barely hear the background track. I think that this was a cool little physics demo for circles. Well done for not having much time for the jam!

Console >_ by Lex 2019-10-13T02:23:18Z

Cool game, it certainty has a unique style. It really fits the theme well, I enjoyed seeing the picture build up from nothing. I did get stuck at one point because I had to put in one word before a bunch of others. I typed in several and nothing happened, it may have been nice to get some feedback along the lines of “you need something to build that on”. The font for the console was so small that some letters were missing vertical lines before I zoomed in, but that is how consoles are sometimes. I killed some of the Easter eggs that were responses to certain words, like your name. Cool game jam game.

LD 45 by Omeys 2019-10-09T02:28:53Z

This sounds like a very interesting game, but no links? I hope that you post it, please do let me know when you do.

SHOCK by Ossi 2019-10-13T17:31:55Z

Interesting puzzle game. In the beginning the controls felt a little strange to me, I thought that you couldn’t pick up the power core, so I was trying to move it around by smacking it with the sparks. I think that this is a game that really could have benefited from having audio, both background music to set the tone and something so that I knew when I was touching the zappers. The puzzles in the game were pretty cool, although forcing the player to make more meaningful choices with which zappers to disable could have been cool. I don’t know how well this game fits with the theme of start with nothing, other then starting needing to collect two orbs. I though that the art for this game was quite good, and worked perfectly with the puzzles. Overall quite a promising game, well done!

Zero Equals Zero by TopperVideoGames 2019-10-13T02:22:54Z

Cool concept, I think that it fits the theme quite well. It also was a good test of basic math skills that I haven’t had to use much for a while, I found the puzzles to be pleasantly challenging. The movement itself was a little bit janky, I found myself stuck on walls and corners a lot and I personally found just crossing the screen a bit slow. I liked the background music and sound effects, they added (heh) a lot to the enjoyability of the game. Fun concept well implemented for a game jam, with a bit of polish I could see this being something awesome! Great job!

Living Forrest by Majadroid 2019-10-13T22:12:44Z

Cool game, I like the semi-tower-defense feeling of it. I liked the background music and the sound effects that the machines and trees had. I would have liked a way to start over without having to restart the web browser. This was a great game that well captured nature fighting back against encroaching civilization, and as the machines kept having more health it felt like it went how that would actually go. Fun game, I would love to see this game with a bunch more polish!

itemless by NachtWitch 2019-10-09T02:59:28Z

Interesting concept for the theme, I thought that it fit quite well. The gameplay was alright, I found the combat to be a little difficult as it felt like there was a large delay in my swings that made it difficult to hit anything. I found the resource gathering to be a bit tedious because of the distance between resources and the slow speed of the player. I would guess that having the resource nodes take a few hits and give the resources incrementally would have made it feel a lot better without changing the player speed or number of available resources because as a player I would have had to spend some time at the resource nodes. I thought that the monsters were quite cool and interesting to deal with, and I loved the effect when they died. When I died (I think, my health was still around half but a monster was touching me) the game froze, the only thing that I could do was open the shop but then I couldn’t close it. Overall I think that this game has a good core concept but could have used more polish to become great. Well done for a 48 hour challenge!

14 billion years by Vhalenn 2019-10-13T21:33:14Z

Fun game, I liked the unique style that you hade with it. I think that the concept of building up from subatomic to being a planet was quite cool and fit the theme well. This was a very fast paced game that was still quite fun and felt complete. The sound design was good. I couldn’t tell how useful the vacuum was, most of the time it didn’t seem to have much of an effect. I also didn’t play enough times to see if there was an effect from picking up different combinations of elements. Fun game overall, well done!

The Unknown Nude by romes 2019-10-13T21:48:07Z

Neat game, I had fun playing it. I think that this take on the theme was interesting. I liked the background music in this game, it was quite nice and calming. I had a nice moment of suspense of if I would live or not, it took a while to be strong enough to fight for the merchant, and I got my first food with 2hp left. I ended up becoming the merchant (bad ending?) and was a little confused by the lack of a game-over screen, the character just wandered off into the outside of the game. Overall a nice relaxing game, well done!

Human Assembly Line by Myburgh Nel 2019-10-09T03:01:19Z

Before I even play it, I think that what looks to have been your original title, and the name of the executable, Squeamish Assembly, is a way better name. it made me laugh when I saw it.

Really cool concept, I think that it is a fun interpretation of the theme. Unfortunately, the game itself is almost unplayable for me as the mouse sensitivity is so low that I basically cannot aim and cannot be adjusted. Your game looks awesome, I love the style of all of the body parts slinking around on the floor, and I love the laboratory that it is set in. I think that with more polish and usable controls this could end up a very interesting little game and could even be quite entertaining as a multiplayer game racing to put together people. As a demo of the different parts that you were trying to make into a game, I think that this does quite well. Good job, even if it didn’t achieve everything that you were aiming for.

7 Days by AppoxGames 2019-10-09T02:59:39Z

This game is beautiful. I really like the styling of it, and the organic growth of the tree is very well done. I did find the gameplay to be a bit lacking however, I thought that the way that the tree reacted to the water was too unpredictable, especially when the goal was beside and below the existing branches. I also found it to be almost impossible to keep up with the dyeing branches on later levels. I wish that this game has been able to grab me with its gameplay as I cant say enough how amazing the design of it is. I thought that the music complemented the earlier more Zen levels quite well. Great work!

Allow by Mikeality 2019-10-13T17:20:49Z

I enjoyed this game, it fits with the theme quite well and was fun to play. I thought that for the most part the platforming mechanics felt really good to play, and I liked the concept of goals giving you advantages and disadvantages, all of which were required to win. All of the levels felt well thought out, and were fun to puzzle through. When I first started I found myself getting stuck on walls, or more accurately, edges, as I was trying to jump up them, but that is really the only issue that I had. The graphics were clean and worked well for the game, and the sound effects were on point. I also loved the reveal at the end, that made me laugh. Great LD entry, I wish you luck taking this further!

Yin-Yang by Keith Wang 2019-10-13T22:00:11Z

Very hard! This game has a great aesthetic, just getting that to work is an amazing feat for a game jam. I am not good at this style of game, but it was a lot of fun to loose in.

Ghost Game by superKevin 2019-10-09T02:46:04Z

@superkevin You are building with unity and hosting on itch.io, so you could build an HTML build and host it there to allow web play. I would love to play your game, it looks interesting, but windows user.

PS, the link for windows build is still on this page.

Ghost Game by superKevin 2019-10-13T02:21:47Z

I really like the aesthetic of this game, the simple white on black does a great job of setting the tone. I think that you did a good job of telling the story that you wanted to in three simple experiences, it was quite effective. Of the three, I found playing fetch to be my favorite, the dog that you designed is great. The bike puzzle was a bit touchy, I never could get the last two pieces to snap together. The truck game was challenging, but I really liked the way that it worked. While I think that it could have benefited from having some sounds, I also don’t think that the silence detracted much at all from the game. Great job, this is a great game jam game with a top-tier aesthetic.

PS. Thanks for hosting a web version, I am quite glad that I came back and checked for it!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Root Mania by Cristi Mihai 2020-04-23T00:22:29Z

Cool concept, a combo of pipe connecting puzzle and Tetris. I liked the style of the game, the little sparkles that followed pipe pieces around was a good touch. The music was nice and calming, although the sound effect of pieces sliding was quite loud and jarring. As you said, the gameplay did not go anywhere, but as a beginning it was quite fun. I was surprised when I grew a tree and a bulldozer came out of nowhere and flattened it. I think that this is a great little concept piece, well done!

Vaccinator by niterich 2020-04-21T01:34:14Z

Quite a fun little shooter. I liked the concept of defending the organs, and I thought the design of the whole area was well done, and the aesthetic of the game was great. I personally found the controls to be unintuitive, I kept hitting Q and E expecting to roll, at least the beginning. Overall I did not find move up and down to be that helpful as controls, my instinct was always to just aim up and move forward. Once I got the hang of the controls moving around felt nicely fluid. Nicely Done!

Keep the Party Alive! by TouchMe 2020-04-23T00:23:07Z

This is a fun take on the theme! I think that it was well executed, the environment was interesting to move through and the quests showed up at about the right speed to keep me interested. It was interesting that you could pick up and move guests at will, I ended up stacking some of the ones in the further away rooms right by the kitchen after one requested a drink just as I brought one to the person they were talking with. I found the camera to be quite floaty for my taste, when I was just starting it was a little nauseating. You did a great job designing around using outside character models, they did not look out of place at all in the rest of the house. Overall very well done!

Sunlit by palsina 2020-04-23T02:36:07Z

An outstanding implementation of a zen game. The way that the tree grows is fantastic and training it to avoid the shadows provides the perfect amount of engagement that kept me playing all the way to the top. I thought that the color changes that propagated all the way through the tree when branches started or stopped growing were a great touch. The only issue that I saw was that the tree could, and often did, grow through the black areas casting shadows, but for a game jam this game had extraordinary levels of polish. The inclusion of small creatures was great, it kept me looking up for more things to get to. The soundtrack fit well with the game, although it did get a bit repetitive after a while. Overall I think this was a great entry to the jam, well done!

BrewMancy by Louis Hilaire 2020-04-23T00:21:45Z

Fantastic design work here, the visuals of the house were stunning and the music fit right in with the game’s vibe. I think that ion that alone this is a unique entry into a jam like this. The gameplay itself did not do it for me as much, the endless quest to find a random item in a house with no clues that I saw as to where the item was got a bit grating and caused me to loose a couple of times. I think that the controls may have had something to do with that; I found the sensitivity of the mouse to be unbearably slow and would have loved an option to adjust it. Each time that I launched the game it did not hide my mouse cursor in first person and so I was also stuck with the arrow in the middle of the crosshair. I thought that the potion system was interesting, although with the time limit I did not get to experience it as much as I would have liked to. Overall I would call this a very interesting game, knocking it out of the park on environmental design and just needing a bit more to fully pull me in on the gameplay itself. Well done!

Cable Guy by sorko 2020-04-23T00:21:07Z

Fun puzzle platformer. The physics of the cables was great, and worked quite well with the overall theme you had. I loved some of the graphics, especially the server overloading explosion. The controls were fairly good overall, jumping could use some work but is always difficult in a platformer. I felt like I ended up running off of ledges quite often when I expected to jump, and the jump height/velocity curve felt off, probably because I have been playing too many games (real world physics are a curse). I liked the speedrunning style of the puzzles, the first few levels really got me into the game, but the hidden passages really did not do it for me, especially drops that I could not see coming and fell into dozens of times as I could not tell where they were. Perhaps some subtle visual cue that was easy to miss but when noticed gave some reference would have helped. Great concept and good execution, not everything can be tuned to perfection in a game jam. Well done!

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-23T00:23:42Z

Very nice game. There is something very fun about games that involve clicking on things, and this one has enough of a twist that it works really well. The swarming behavior of the bugs is great and provides enough space for some strategy that when combined with the interestingly shaped and large swatter made me think a couple of times about the strategy that I approached with. The music was fun and fit the game well, and the jingle when I accidently hit a ladybug was quite good. Great work, especially for a first jam entry!

It's Just Human by MomoLala23 2020-04-23T03:01:04Z

A fun and challenging take on this style of game. I think that the addition of elements was quite well passed, and the increase in challenge felt pretty good. I thought that the intro was a bit long, and the voiceover was difficult to understand for me, so I ended up feeling like I was sitting in near silence for a while at the start of each attempt. I thought that the music was quite good, and I loved the way that it ramped up the tempo and added more elements as the game elements were added. The gameplay itself was not the most effective for me, some of the added elements were rather confusing the first time they showed up and by the time I figured out what was going on they had dropped low enough that it was difficult to recover. Overall an interesting game, well done for a jam!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

BLOOP by danman9914 2020-10-05T03:40:54Z

This is a really well but together little game! The art is great, and the screen warp effect when going back in time is really cool. I can’t understate how much I like the art, the enemies are fun and the whole opening scene is a fantastic setup for the game. While the gameplay is not extravagant, it is very well polished and works to serve the story perfectly. The story is interesting enough to keep playing to get the rest of it, and I like the way that it is told from the middle out in both directions. Fantastic work!

Thunder Rally by smilewood 2020-10-05T02:04:30Z

@madbookstudios @nick-barrash Yeah, during the final testing phase of the jam I got sucked into just watching the cars go around for longer then I probably should have. Glad you enjoyed it!

@rhoff95 I agree, once you get past a certain point the game plays itself more then I would probably choose if I were to do it again. Glad you liked the art, it is my skill I think was weakest going into this. I am very happy with how it turned out.

@tulipekoni Gotta go fast! the red cannons still tend to get a shot in from time to time, but I agree what is my preferred tactic. Until the car loops around and plows into the shot that just missed it on the next lap :)

@neonjeff I had hoped to have a monster truck as the final car, but... time.

Thanks everyone for playing it!

Thunder Rally by smilewood 2020-10-05T02:08:49Z

@firegamer3 @xenon27 Glad you liked them! Its amazing what you can do with your mouth and some effect filters!

Thanks for playing!

Thunder Rally by smilewood 2020-10-05T02:50:22Z

@pizzasgood Symbol is just a symbol. When I was looking at rally cars for reference they often had a logo of some sort on the top, and I had about 10 pixels across the top of my cars to put something.

@silvae Glad you figured it out! thanks for playing!

Thunder Rally by smilewood 2020-10-05T17:28:27Z

@michael-parrish @gevernus Glad you enjoyed it! I too would have liked more upgrade options, but both couldn't think of anything more and wouldn't have had time to add them. I am however always interested in ideas that I can ~~steal~~ keep in mind if I ever try this style of game again. Thanks for the comments!

@zachary-barbanell Yeah, I had a hard time trying to balance how fast you made money, and I think that the scaling that applies to the unlocked cars is a bit steep for income. The current settings are a bit of a compromise, I wanted it to be possible to win. Thank you for the feedback!

@masaru The rounds run on a 35 second timer in the background. I had planned on showing a countdown for each round, but decided to make sound effects instead. Each car makes money each time it crosses one of the lines, but that has no impact on the rounds. I think it would have been better with a more clear indication of that mechanic, but while developing I knew how it worked so didn't put much thought into explaining it. Glad you enjoyed the sounds, they were fun to make!

@dracominer I would tend to agree with your tactic choices. Going fast both makes the car hard to hit and gets money faster. I am glad you enjoyed the art and sounds, I am very happy with how they turned out. I don't understand why anyone developing with Unity wouldn't build the Linux build, it costs a whole five minutes to flip the dropdown and upload the file. I'm glad that helped you!

@evogengames @wongkongphooey Thanks for playing! It's great to hear that you enjoyed it!

WireTap by Dingbat 2020-10-05T01:26:20Z

I like this puzzler, it is an interesting take on the “connect the power by rotating wires” type of game. I think that it was an inspired idea to have the player running around in the level and able to change the world as you go. I also thought that the pacing of the introduction of new mechanics and complexity was very well done. Unfortunately, the game crashes consistently in the ninth level when I try do disconnect the mess of wires in the top right from power. I would guess some kind of infinite loop, but I was unable to find a sequence of wires that did not cause a loop as I disconnected them, and there was a loop before I disconnected the last one with no issues. Despite the fact that I only got to the ninth level I really enjoyed this game; I would love to be able to play more of it. Well done!

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-05T03:16:38Z

Alright, that was really cool. The transition between moving around on the ribbon and “pulling” the ribbon through the larger world was so seamless, and incredibly satisfying the first time it happened. This game also has just the right amount of comedy, I quite liked the little forest man and the fact that I had just stitched the ribbon with my house into that world. The music was great, I think that it added a lot to the mood of the game. About the only thing that disappointed me about this game was that it ended so quickly, it was really well done, and I was so engrossed in it that it was a shock for it to end. Very well done!

EXIT CODE 0 by Silvae 2020-10-05T03:06:22Z

Clever puzzler, I had brainstormed a similar loop interpretation, but this is much better executed then I would have pulled off. I really like the multiple looping of having the control be an executing loop and the level looping around. The art style is a lot of fun, but also manages to be very simple where it needs to be to maintain perfect understandability. I did run into an issue when I tried to hit the stop button once, it kind of stopped but also kept going, and the slime ended up split between the top and bottom. Once the loop finished for real the level reset and worked fine. I really liked this game, well done!

TRiXIT by tulipekoni 2020-10-05T02:46:34Z

Good music, fantastic visual effects, punishing hitboxes, and trolly random generation. What more could you want in a game? This is a great execution on the concept! While I was
poor at playing it I enjoyed it enough to keep trying over and over again. Great entry!

Populatio by FabDynamic 2020-10-05T01:27:30Z

Interesting puzzler, I always love games that throw some orbital dynamics at me! I thought that the mechanic of having a boost but not being able to adjust your orientation after launching was a good touch, it caused me to have to think a lot more about when to go, especially when my target was on the other side of the system.

I think that this game could have benefited a lot from some sound effects when launching and populating a planet for the first time, as well as something ambient. The whole world of the game just felt very empty in the silence.

With a bit more polish, and maybe one or two interesting twists on the mechanics introduced throughout the game, I could see this being a fully fledged and very fun puzzle game. Well done!

Mel's Bells by Pizzasgood 2020-10-05T02:56:39Z

That got difficult fast. I thought that I had the hang of it when I started breezing through zombies, then got demolished by inverted + reversed land. Matching the tones was a fun mechanic that I got the hang of quite quickly, and the background music was perfectly low key to not distract form the bell tones. The voiceover at the beginning made me laugh. Overall very well done!

The Hand That Feeds by neonjeff 2020-10-05T02:46:47Z

This game was surprisingly difficult, especially before I realized I could just through the walls instead of trying to go around them. The abundance of information on the screen wonderfully distracted from the one thing that mattered, catching the bouncing child. Your art style in this is great and adds a lot to the frantic feeling that the game elicits. The use of voice-overs between the levels adds to the comedy, and when the cats started throwing themselves at the child, sending him spinning through the house I lost it. Fantastic game, well done!

Loop Shoot by superunknown 2020-10-05T02:44:50Z

I like this take on the theme. It is an interesting and challenging game to play. The effects when the shots hit the enemies were great, and the moment of panic when hitting the wrong color one is perfect. I was confused by having an accuracy stat in this game, as I had to shoot away from the enemies in the first level, but as I got further I realized how interesting of a stat it is, letting me see how correctly I ordered the shots. The music fit well with the game, and the sound effects were well done. Great job on this entry!

Infinite Pinball by Nick Barrash 2020-10-05T02:05:27Z

I like the concept of the infinitely looping pinball table; it is something I could never have thought of myself and I think it fits well with the theme. I did find the physics a bit janky though, the few times the ball got close enough to the paddles for me to interact I felt like it just went off whichever direction it felt like. I think that with a bit of polish to that interaction, and maybe a few fewer places where the ball went off and did its own thing for a while, this would be an immensely fun take on a pinball game. The use of “get X points as fast as possible” as the goal was a clever way to have an end state for a infinite loop, I like it. Well done!

The exit is in ----- by Masaru 2020-10-06T04:19:41Z

I think that the core concept behind this game could be interesting if refined a bit, having rooms that are different as one comes back to them is a cool idea, but the gameplay surrounding it in this case could have used more polish. The biggest issue I had with playing it was the movement mechanics; left/right is slow to start, hard to stop and jumping is floating to flying. Because of this navigating the rooms or getting into position for enemies was quite difficult. I had trouble figuring out the timing on my attack, it did not trigger the instant I clicked, but it also seemed to hang around for a while afterwards and only sometimes damaged the enemies. Huge props for tackling 3d animations in a 48-hour event, that is always a difficult challenge! I feel that if the actual mechanics of this game were polished up a bit it would be really great. Well done!

The exit is in ----- by Masaru 2020-10-06T04:19:45Z

Somehow that posted twice. Interesting. Edited to hide the second post.

Infinite Rainbow Tower Smash! by madbookstudios 2020-10-05T01:35:20Z

This is a fun infinite tower; I like that the choice to go for the high score is up to you. The music is standout, it felt like it went really well with the game itself. I also liked the ever increasingly difficult enemies as I went downwards, that added just enough of a touch of variety that I wanted to keep going just to see how hard it would get. The first run I played I thought that just spamming s would be the clearly winning strategy, but as I found out that more often then not just landed me next to a moving enemy, who ran straight into me. This game was a lot of fun, and a well-executed take on the theme, well done!

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-05T02:04:59Z

This is a game that makes me wish I was better at bullet-hell games. I really enjoyed playing through it, the combination of ever-increasing rhythm and difficulty was really fun. I would also like to thank you for adding difficulty settings, it is a great touch that a lot of jam games don’t get. I was thrown off the first couple of times when completing the track, the spotlight went to the center and I tried to follow it onto the central turret, not having read the instructions, and immediately got blasted on a ‘hey’. Lots of fun, great job on your first jam!

Stuck in a Loo by Xenon27 2020-10-05T02:46:03Z

Fun and funny game. ~~Not all that much depth going on in the gameplay, but it is well executed.~~ Well then, went back to it a second time and realized that the movement is completely different when using arrows vs WASD. That adds a lot to the interestingness of the dodges as suddenly I have an option to get out from under some of the pinecones right above me. How interesting. The art is very well done, and the sounds go well with the gameplay. All that and a hilarious take on the theme makes a great entry. Well done!

Assembly Loop by mjbelanic 2020-10-05T03:25:36Z

I think that this is a fun take on the theme, and the longer I played it the more I felt stuck in the loop. This is a cool concept for a game, although it was a bit rough around the edges. I found it confusing to have different interaction keys for picking up and putting down the robot parts, I think that as the pickup required the mouse pointer to be in the right place anyway it may have been nicer to allow clicking to do the interaction. The frantic nature of the game, trying to find the right parts for the requested templates was interesting, although it felt like I could never keep up after three or four robots. I think that this is a game that could have benefited a lot from some sound effects, but I understand not having time for them in a game jam setting. Well done overall!

Endless Void by FireGamer3 2020-10-05T02:45:23Z

Interesting little shooter. I couldn’t tell if the items were looping directly back around, but I could definitely feel them pile up when I stopped shooting them. It was interesting that even aiming with the mouse I could only fire in the 8 directions rather then just aiming directly at the mouse, that constraint made me think a lot more about my positioning then I normally would in this style of game. This was very well done, especially for a first ludum dare; you even got to sound! Well done!

Oroboro by ugly_robot 2020-10-05T01:28:11Z

I think that this game captures the mood you were going for very well. I love the dynamic lighting, especially as more past versions of myself came out of the chamber. I didn’t read the instructions on the LD page before trying to play, so I was a bit thrown off for a while about what I needed to do other then avoid the red vision cones, it would have been nice to have that explanation in the game itself. Once I got into it though I enjoyed trying to figure out each puzzle room in sequence. One thing that threw me off there was that I could pick up the pieces even after slotting them into their slots, but they didn’t seem to be reusable.

Overall a great entry, well done for your first jam!

Hotel Mobi by TheCreator 2020-10-05T01:25:41Z

Lovely game! You have nailed the calm and zenlike mood of this robot still doing its job 721 years after the last guest. I really the music lent a lot to the atmosphere, it was well done. I am also impressed by the mobius strip, I thought about trying to use one but had no idea how to start to bull it off, and you did it very well, even keeping gravity understandable enough to allow for jumping. Impressive!

DFA by ksadov 2020-10-05T00:37:36Z

Wonderful art, very clear and well executed concept. I had fun going back and forth and finding (I think all of?) the different reactions. While it is rather short I don’t thing that detracts from the experience, there is still enough depth to make it interesting. Well done!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Forgotten Spelunker by smilewood 2021-05-09T03:23:43Z

@vixenmink What it Unity doing (or not doing as the case may be)? As far as I can tell the webGL build should be working on the Itch.IO link. Did you have issues with one of the downloads?

Depth Charge by Fatsheep 2021-05-05T03:37:04Z

Quite a fun little game. I really like how control of the sub feels, and how it changes while carrying the differently sized loads. You really nailed the feel of diving deeper and deeper into the depths, and exploring the shipwrecks and trenches was a lot of fun. About the only thing that I found myself wishing for while playing (especially as the timer got down to the last minute or so) was a marker of some sort so I could find the boat again without getting all the way back to the surface. Overall I think that this was a really well put together and polished jam game. Well done!

Poopy's Journey to the Center of the Earth by Dr_V 2021-05-05T19:02:36Z

This is a fun one to play, it reminds me a lot of a mobile game I played a long time ago. Great humor and a fun take on the theme. I thought that the music fit really well with the game, although the other sound effects didn’t do it as much for me. This is a really well polished jam game, well done!

Drilling Rig by Bitheral 2021-05-06T19:04:33Z

This game fits well with the theme and as a sandbox isn't bad, but it could really use a sense of purpose, even as simple as a number of ores drilled counter. I found it a bit tedious that once you picked a spot and drilled down a bit you were locked to that hole, it ended up feeling like I just had to hold the down arrow and wait to see what happened. I think that this is a promising proof of concept, a with a few more features could end up a quite entertaining game. Well done for a game jam!

Drawn Out by xmatos 2021-05-05T04:51:30Z

This is a unique project. I think that it is one of the most different games I have seen in this jam, and it still somehow perfectly fits into the theme. There was something compelling about adding new layers and hearing them added into the soundtrack, and I really liked the selection of tools for drawing. The shifting color tool was a lot of fun. Well done with this!

Corresponding by p0l4r 2021-05-07T01:58:50Z

This is a very clever concept for a game. I am impressed with the amount of depth suggested by the choices (don’t tell me if they didn't branch all that much), especially in the time limits of a game jam. Visually this game works really well, I like how connected my typing and the words appearing on the page are. Well done!

Laundry Pile by nandelind 2021-05-05T04:39:09Z

This is a really fun take on the theme (and way more part of my daily life then I would like to admit). It was a lot of fun digging to the bottom of the pile for something that I knew I had seen a couple of items ago, although I sometimes felt that there were duplicates of exactly the same item. It may have been a cool addition to have somewhere to put the clothing to get it off of the pile so it was not impossible to get back to the bottom. I thought that the dryer sound in the background was perfect for the game. Overall I think this a great entry to this game jam, well done!

Goldsweeper by Sunblast 2021-05-06T18:56:30Z

I think that this is a fun and interesting take on a classic. It provides another layer to minesweeper as along with figuring out where mines are you have to find a path around them. I found it surprisingly difficult to safely get enough information to determine locations. One feature that I would have wished for would be something like the flags that minesweeper has, just a visual way to remind myself that I thought a place was dangerous. Even without that quality of life this is a fun one to play, well done!

Magmatic Descent by Vanea 2021-05-05T19:15:07Z

This is a surprisingly intense puzzler, the lava wall coming up behind does a lot for adding time pressure. I thought that the setup of the level design making you look ahead a bit so as not to trap you was interesting with that time pressure. The controls were a little bit inconsistent sometimes, I found myself having some trouble moving only one square without jumping across to the far wall. Using the shovel was also strange hen it would dig in a direction other then the one I thought I was facing. I think that your music and sounds worked well with the game. Overall I think this was quite a fun game, with a bit more polish I could see myself putting a lot of time into it. Well done!

Deep Sea Mining by Ausstein 2021-05-03T19:08:17Z

This is an excellent game, I love the art style and the basic premise works very well for the theme of this jam. I think that the changes made for the post-LD patch were great and made the game a lot more playable, I tried the LD version and found the constant moving towards the mouse a bit annoying both for mining and combat. The timing of progression for this game is very well done, I never found myself feeling like I was getting bored or having to grind just to get another upgrade. Overall a great Ludum Dare entry, well done!

Swab the Deck! by dans17 2021-05-04T18:51:41Z

I really like the style of this game, both the visuals and soundtrack were well put together. The pixelated look of things somehow fits perfectly with the pirate theme. You did some interesting things with the deck-builder gameplay as well, I think that being able to pay cards as fast as energy charges is a cool take on this style of game. I did wish as I played some of the cards (grappling hook) that I could see somehow the effect that they had when it was changing stats of one of the ships, something like that could have elevated the strategy of the combat. Overall I think this is a great game, well done in a game jam!

Ringularity - Black Hole Orbital Combat Simulation by philliptrudeau 2021-05-04T02:57:11Z

A very clever take on the theme. This game is quite fun and challenging. I like the use of the orbits to throw off my instincts for the trajectory of my shots. I do think that the game could have benefited from some form of predictive pathing for either the player ship or the shots, it was difficult to tell from the slow movement when I had slowed my orbit enough that I would end up trapped forever instead of doing a cool slingshot around the center. I don’t think that that detracted from the game however, it was very engaging. Well done!

Deeper and Deeper Mining Operations ltd. by saviorium 2021-05-05T04:29:43Z

This is a really fun game, I could see it having a lot of replayability with more options for progression. The voxel art style is really cool for this type of game, and your generation of terrain feels well put together. The only thing that I did not understand while playing was how to get more fuel, the explanation at the beginning was a bit unclear on that point, although looking at some of the comments here fuel came from a different resource in the ground. This is also a game that I think would have benefited a lot from some sound work, but I understand the limitations of a game jam. I would love to see where something like this could go in the future, I could see a mobile game based on it being a great time sink. Well done!

Sorry, That's Not My Deepartment by byAdam 2021-05-06T21:48:52Z

This game is great in both idea and execution. I think that the differing speeds of the levels adds a lot to making the tasks feel frantic but still achievable, and lets the lower level task be even more like busywork. I liked that the game allowed me to come up with various strategies to build up a stockpile of resources for when several meteors came in at once, and I really liked that you could still see what was on the other levels when focused on lower ones. I did run into an issue there where one of the meteors was off of the screen on the top level but I could see it in the wider zoomed-out view. Lost several shots trying to hit that one. The sound design was great, although some of the sounds were a bit loud relative to others (shooting sound). Overall I think that this was a great concept and a really fun jam game!

Pretty Flower by ZeppelinGames 2021-05-06T18:47:24Z

Cool little puzzler, it was the perfect length for the game jam and felt well polished. I liked the graphics, and the color coming into the world when you get to the end is a great touch. Movement felt a little slow to me at the beginning but I quickly got used to it. The only issue I saw was that jumping felt sticky sometimes, when I was too close to a wall I just wouldn’t go up (or down sometimes). Overall very well done, this is a fun game jam game!

Deeper Sea by LRVStudios 2021-05-04T19:20:52Z

This is a cool take on the theme of the game jam, and I think that the core mechanic of the game is interesting. I did find the game a bit tedious to play though, the UI has a lot of information on it that doesn’t seem to effect the game itself and even when I thought that something would work in a certain way it didn't seem to (I thought that having fuller water tanks would cause you to go down, but it seemed that the up/down was just a matter of hitting the key rather then managing the tanks). I think that the cleaning up the junk in the water for money was interesting and encouraged exploring, but I think that it could have been used more for giving a purpose to the game. Having three different views seemed kind of pointless for this jam game, but I can see how the interior view could have led to some more interesting gameplay with more time. I liked the design of the sub itself, it is a really cool design. Overall I thought that this was a neat proof of concept game jam game that with some cleanup and polish could be a really fun game. Well done!

Baby Drill by aburron 2021-05-03T19:22:13Z

An elegantly simple game. Striking visuals, fun sound design, and a surprisingly difficult four button control scheme. This was a lot of fun to play. The balance felt a little off between the overheat and the power, I felt like towards the end of the couple of runs I did there was no choice but to hold the red button almost all of the time, but that may have been part of what made it feel so fun and frantic. Overall very well done, this was a great game jam entry!

Glamour by Ka1Zyz 2021-05-07T01:45:04Z

Artistically this is one of the best games I have seen in this game jam. I love your style, it fits really well with the story your game tells, and the music is well suited to the mood. I didn't find the puzzles all that engaging for their difficulty but they worked perfectly to tell the story of this game. About the only thing I could wish for would be for more to the story, I was hooked until the end. Very well done!

Watch Your Step by Kooky 2021-05-07T21:34:10Z

I found this a very interesting game conceptually, there is something compelling about running down the endless stairs and watching all the little legs go. The gameplay of it didn’t grab me as much, I didn't feel like I had any control over the trajectory that I was taking. Even something as simple as some kine of effect showing the movement caused by input could have helped sell that the player has an impact. I like the design of the character, it is quite cute especially in the concept art on this page. The music is fun and I am glad that this game has music, I think that it adds a lot. Overall a great game jam game, especially as a solo game. Well done!

LD49 — Unstable

Waiter Extraordinaire by LeviDSmith 2021-10-09T02:29:38Z

Cool little game. I like the general feel of it, it was fun to dodge between the mice and tables trying to get to the far ones. I found the fixed viewpoint a bit weird at the beginning, but by the third level I was used to it and I think it worked with the game. The main character is very fun, I love the way his legs move, and the explosion of glasses when you bump a mouse is great. The music fits great with the general atmosphere, but I found the other sound effects were a bit loud and jarring. Overall I had a lot of fun playing this game, great job!

Mininum Viable Tower by smilewood 2021-10-04T02:21:05Z

@syg I agree, having a better breakdown of score is something that I would have loved to do but just didn't have the time. My thought was to have the level complete screen show what each block was worth so you could get an idea there of the difference in points from leaving the structure standing. I can see how having some way to tell if a block would be worth more before blasting it would be helpful, although I don't know how much I would want to clutter up the screen with numbers on every block.

@mathiouza I don't know what you are talking about :P That level was a lot of adding blocks and seeing how the physics physicsd. I was trying to make a stack that, while it was standing, was falling apart at the same time and only held together by the weight of things on top.

@dobryn I was thinking of a specific flash game when I was putting it together, although I cannot recall the name of it.

CryptoCoaster by the.jahn 2021-10-05T00:11:06Z

Hilarious concept, great execution. I found this game a lot of fun to play, the sound effects do a lot for it. It certainly had moments where I got smacked by the penalty when I was sure I was on the line, usually when I cam down like a rock and bounced off a peak. I love that you get a boost when buying, it makes it a lot more dynamic then just following the track. Overall very fun I enjoyed this game a lot!

Nuclide by irwatts 2021-10-05T01:48:57Z

Cool concept, fantastic graphics. It took me a while to figure out what was going on with the beam/reflections, one more line on the instructions may have been helpful. I love the music, it does a lot for the mood of the game. I like the design of the puzzles, once I figured out the basic mechanic the progression felt very good. Excellent game jam entry!

-Connection Interrupted- by binary_coder 2021-10-04T00:38:02Z

I love the concept of this game, I could see it being a really complex puzzle game with even more interlinked mechanics. The gameplay feels good to play, and the instruction in-game is enough to learn to play without feeling hand-holdy.Nicely done!

Orbital Turbulence by Bewelge 2021-10-04T00:48:36Z

Something with orbits was one of the first thoughts I had when I saw this theme and you have executed it much better then any concept I had. I like the simplicity of this game tied with the annoying complexity of trying to get these orbs to just stay in their lane, then when I felt like I was getting the hang of things the next level throws a third star at me. The music and sounds in this game go really well with the almost zen gameplay. Overall very well done, great game!

Dominion by Shootboots 2021-10-04T00:11:54Z

Awesome concept, great execution. I found this game really fun to play once I had a strategy down. With just a bit of polish I could see this being a game that I at least would play a lot. I really like the physics of the blobs, getting them all to throw themselves at the enemy was quite cool. The AI opponent was fun to play against, it surprised me the first time a wave of green came at me! Some of the interaction with the buttons seemed a bit unreliable, I was not clear when I would have to click again on an action button to use it again, and sometimes when no button was lit up it would use the last one that I had used. Overall a really well done jam game!

Piles - Pile it up by Mordrick 2021-10-04T00:11:11Z

I like this game, it fits the theme very well and is a cool use of physics. The objects look great and it is really satisfying to break them apart (something about the way the couch deforms before coming apart really gets me. The game is also surprisingly difficult as the levels progress, at first it felt like cheese to still be holding an object during the countdown, but after the first couple levels it felt necessary. Great job!

Mr Fungi by luddegodofpain 2021-10-04T00:09:29Z

Stylistically this game knocks it out of the park, I live the character design and sounds. The world of the game seems to fit with what you were going for perfectly. As you mention, there doesn’t seem to be much connection with the Unstable theme, although I can see where it may have inspired the game. I found the controls finicky, it was difficult for me to jump where I wanted and stop on platforms. I was completely unable to use the grounded spell as an attack (I assume that is the intent, it sure did hit me a few times). Overall, I thought this is a really cool start for a game, just a bit short on the polish.

Rocket C h a o s by Juanv 2021-10-09T02:37:28Z

This game nails the look and sounds of its style, I love the effect at the edge of the screen and the background music especially. I found something to be a bit off with controlling the ship; while forward and backwards were lightening quick, turning felt like it sometimes only went in one direction and going the other was like trying to turn through mud. This made it rather difficult to target the asteroids, and with the speed that they entered the black hole made the entire game very hard. I really liked the general idea of the black hole getting bigger and bigger as it ‘fed’ and that being what eventually causes you to lose, it makes stopping them from getting there feel like a much more important challenge. Overall a great concept, with a bit more polish on the controls this would be a really fun arcade-style game!

Unshippable by MikoziQ 2021-10-05T00:00:53Z

I like this take on the theme, it manages to work the unstable theme in in a way I would never have thought of. The graphics are clean and work well for the gameplay. I found (as several others also seem to have mentioned) that it was difficult to tell what container I was going to be picking up, and sometimes the crane picking up a container would fling any around it in all directions. I saw in the tutorial that the different containers had different weights, but I forgot what they were almost immediately and I couldn't see much of a difference between them when I did drop them on the ship. Overall I found this an interesting and surprisingly difficult game, well done!

Also thank you for introducing me to the concept that is Unity ProBuilder, I have managed to never come across it in several years of game jams and it looks rather useful.

Negglected by Bhughes 2021-10-06T03:33:35Z

Quite a fun little game, well executed. As I started out I was doubtful that it would keep my interest very long, and then it was a half hour later and I was pushing the 100,000 mark. The various upgrades were interesting and always felt impactful, although the catapult’s effect of starting you pointing directly down was a bit annoying. I loved the design of the background images, especially the first zone transition, and the rest of the graphics worked well for the game. Good music, it would have been nice if re-launching from the end of flight screen had not started it over, I would have liked to hear the full thing rather then the beginning over and over.

Overall a very fun game, eggcellent game jam entry!

....To the Ends of the World and Back by Peace Of Cake Games 2021-10-04T00:10:17Z

Awesome concept and framing device for the story you told. I can’t imagine being on a ship like that demanding for longer then the length of this little game. How do they sleep? Well done with the game!

Stable Inc. by CorbenG 2021-10-04T00:12:52Z

Awesome implementation of this game concept. It feels very well polished, the art style works perfectly and looks great. Big Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes energy, and well executed. I would have liked some kind of feedback on how close I was to a failure condition (could I have lost? I let it run a long time and it seemed to just get faster with the horns) and maybe some penalty for pushing a button without everything being right. As I t was I felt like I could take all the time in the world to go through the manual for each condition, even if the warning alarm tried to suggest otherwise. Overall great game, very well put together!

P.S. props for accessibility settings!

Crash by Recessive 2021-10-05T00:56:14Z

Cool concept, fits the theme rather well I think. I had a hard time remembering what prices I bought the different stocks, I think it would have been nice to have something like a graph of the last few hours prices just to bump memory. As other people have pointed out, and im going to chalk it up as intentional, the crypto seemed to be the way to go, from the beginning if I was willing to click a lot it was a better return on investment then buying stocks, and that just got better as the game went on. I think my final score was 36 days. The music was good background but seemed to cut on and off, or at least there was one bit that was enough louder then the rest that I only started noticing music again when it played. Overall a fun entry for the game jam, well done!

falling flamingo by butterfly 2021-10-04T23:35:16Z

I can’t believe I just spent 783 seconds balancing a digital flamingo. That's more then ten minutes. Well done with the game, it clearly did something right for me. It is well designed with simple mechanics and a fun art style. It took me a couple of losses to realize that I needed to click the fish to fill up the left bar, but beyond that the mechanics were very easy to figure out. There were a couple of fish that were much lower then the visible pond, I know there was at least one that I caught while clicking the eject button. Overall a well executed concept!

Clowning Around by Casteled 2021-10-04T02:10:07Z

Fun game: simple mechanics and very well polished. The movement controls are responsive and the physics of balancing on the ball are an interesting challenge. I didn't notice the ground pound mechanic until I looked at the comments, but it is a fun option for tricky dodges. The only part of the gameplay that didn't work well for me was the projectiles, they could have used more telegraphing in my opinion. There were several times that I had just jumped and then a knife flew in from offscreen in a way that was undodgeable. The sounds are great, the music really is what sells the circus theming. I also really like the spotlights, having them following the character is awesome. Overall a very fun game, well done!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Belecint by unpronounceable 2022-04-08T14:23:23Z

A very cool game, very simple concept that is perfectly executed. The first time I was playing it I was wondering if, as the tempo got faster and faster, I would end up making a song out of the notes, something with a noticeable repeating melody. I don’t think that was happening, but by the end I was frantically focusing enough on keeping the circle out that I would not have noticed. I like the touch of having different color palettes and scale options, having any variety is appreciated and impressive in 48 hours. Overall, I thought this was a fun and well polished game. Well done!

Herdey (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2022-04-06T00:34:18Z

Fun to see a VR game in a game jam! I liked the environment that you were able to create here, and the design of the fluffballs is fantastic. I found it quite difficult to influence them in any meaningful way, sometimes they seemed predictable and many other times they seemed to ignore whatever I tried to do. One of my favorite inclusions was the nailgun, I had more fun seeing what things I could stick together then wrangling the fluffs. In the end I think that the highest score I got was just by letting them do their own thing in the yard and just following one around with a plank to block it when it got near the fence. Overall well done!

A Drag on Chaos by pkenney 2022-04-06T02:24:03Z

Very chill game, the simplicity of it goes a long way. I had a lot of fun bouncing the pendulum around, but trying to achieve any of the goals seemed rather impossible. Maybe there are strategies that I was unable to find, but influencing the pendulum seemed to kill it’s energy as often as increase it. When the cursor impacted the pendulum the collision felt perfect, but I found the drag on the cursor made it quite difficult to hit it exactly when I wanted to. I loved how the energy of the music picked up when I was able to get a serious amount of momentum into the system, that along with the subtle color changing of the lines kept me trying for a long time. An excellent, well polished, game jam entry. Well done!

Rectangular Hell by ccglp 2022-04-06T02:58:59Z

This is a very clever way to have a shrinking play area, when it frist expanded I thought it was trying to go fullscreen, until I realized what was going on. The parry mechanic is not one I have seen before in this type of bullet-hell game and resulted im me (unnecessarily) getting way closer to a lot of enemies then I maybe should have. I enjoyed the background music while playing, although having it cut off the second I die was abit jarring. Overall a fun game, well done!

Dont Sleep by PhoenixofForce 2022-04-06T03:07:30Z

Game looks great. I didn’t see a lot of gameplay beyond clicking on the various things in the room and watching the interactions; maybe having some sort of combo system could have made it more interesting, doing a series of actions in the right order could be more effective and result in a secret animation? Generally a chill game though, well done!

Eleventh Hour by Jeremy Ryan 2022-04-06T01:18:59Z

I really liked this game. It looks fantastic and feels great to play. The amount of detail in the backgrounds and enemies is great, I loved the little touches like the LD50 on the buildings. Everything animated is also fantastic, shoutout to the time unwind animation and the charge animation for the shooting enemies. The audio was good, the background music give it a really chill vibe and the other effects fit well.

The gameplay itself was also great, the movement felt just right for the area that it is played in (although I would have rather had space be the jump key, I found myself hitting it several times). I liked the use of limited ammo that had to be retrieved, it forced me to the edges and kept me engaged with the enemies spawning there (probably my #1 cause of taking damage). Throwing the kunais felt great to me, and I liked the way that the enemy deaths could launch them a good ways depending where they hit; thanks to those launches I was able to end up with a triple kill off one throw.

I would have liked to see an exit option somewhere, having to force-quit a game in full screen always feels weird to me, and I did have the issue that others here mentioned where my mouse was able to go out of the window and minimize the game, resulting in a couple of hits. Beyond those issues this was a fantastic, well polished game that I really enjoyed playing. Well done!

I hate ants. by munkkeli 2022-04-07T00:21:10Z

This is a fun take on the theme, and I enjoyed playing the game. The various tools were well designed and fun to use, although it was unclear what would unlock the traps. I liked the variety of ants as well, they resulted in an interesting prioritization challenge in the beginning and a frantic clicking to kill the big ones by the end. The ants looked great and I liked that they did not, in the beginning at least, just move directly to the cake, they had a bit of a wander going on. Overall a great game, well done!

Gone Out West by Sita 2022-04-06T00:49:35Z

Well executed and jam packed game. I think that the visual style of the world map was great and I liked the idea behind the delivery system. I would have been very happy to play a game jam game with just that system. Personally I did not enjoy the bandit fights, something about the controls felt sluggish to me and I found it almost impossible to doge the obstacles. I think that this was an excellent interpretation of the theme, while you know what the inevitability is it still feels important to delay it.

Fantastic game jam entry, a bit more polish on the sheer number of mechanics and this would feel like a fully published game.

Reading other comments here, apparently I did not notice the “wait in town” option at all, so I got stuck fighting a lot more then I would have preferred.

Computer Scientist Training Lab by YellowKamel 2022-04-06T02:34:29Z

Very interesting game mechanic - that I am very bad at. The game plays very well, the tutorial walks through the gameplay in such a way that when the game itself started I had no questions about what to do. The game looks great, the tileset is simple and communicates exactly what each tile is without any confusion. If I was better at quickly typing I suspect this is a game that would have grabbed me until I finished every level. Well done!

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-05T00:24:56Z

Awesome take on the theme! I enjoyed playing this one, it is simple to play and entertaining. Stylistically you knock it out of the water with this one, the rover rover has an incredible amount of detail for the tiny group of pixels it is and the environment is fantastic. The audio design of the rover movement also impressed me with the changes while turning. Final time (3rd try): 72 seconds. Great game!

(I guess I can forgive you for sniping the same title as my game just before I uploaded)

Last Person in Chernobyl Simulator VR by Legolula 2022-04-06T00:25:01Z

Props for attempting a VR game; that is not an easy task in a game jam! I was unable to play it, I tried the fork from @shadowbrain but couldn't get it to pick up my controllers (also using Valve Index). This looks like a cool approach to the theme, good luck with future development!

Last Person in Chernobyl Simulator VR by Legolula 2022-04-06T14:14:34Z

Thanks for the patch! I remain impressed by your even attempting a VR game in a game jam, and this one is well put together. Perhaps my favorite thing in it was the enriched fuel rods, they glow so invitingly and therefore were fun to grab and ~~throw around the room~~ carry to the fuel pipes. The various tasks seemed to be on reasonable timers, not so frantic that there was no way to keep up but not so long that I didn't have to think about them. Interaction with everything felt good with a minor exception of the microwave door grab points feeling awkward to me. Overall impressive game jam work, and a fun little VR project. Great job!

Neverwash by ironcutter 2022-04-09T16:03:55Z

Fun idea for a game, and very relatable, not at all something that I did over the game jam weekend. This was a fun optimization problem in a game, and the limits of the area meant that the inevitable filling of the grid was always in sight. I did have some issues figuring out which tile counted as the center of some of the objects, notably the banana, but once I had that figured out I really enjoyed the game. It was also nice to have music, It added a lot to keeping me engaged. Overall a great game, well done!

(P.S. the link to your game suggests that it was going to be a download for just Windows, it may be worth changing the listed platform to HTML5 instead.)

Bath Time by benjamm 2022-04-05T00:36:15Z

Very funny take on this theme! I love the static art on the menu and game over screen - it does a lot to sell the mode of the game you have created. The gameplay itself is entertaining enough, I thought the pace felt slow at the beginning but it ramped up quickly as the number of obstacles exploded. The character animation is great, the bouncing hat made me laugh when I spotted it. My high score was 128 baths avoided. Fantastic game jam game!

(What does our unnamed cowboy have to fear, none of those bathtubs have any water in them in this desert)

Appoleo by NeM 2022-04-06T03:34:01Z

A very cool game concept for a game, it looks fantastic. I really love the shadowy vandals that come in to mess up the paintings. I found the ladders to be troublesome to navigate, I think that I expected to be on the upper platforms sooner and kept moving to the side before I was on a floor. The music on the menu was awesome, but it seemed that I lost all music whenever I entered a game.

The gameplay itself was interesting, it was fun to try and come up with the most efficient way to get to a bunch of places on the platforms, especially in the gamemodes where I needed to do so quite quickly. Overall a great game jam entry, great use of famous art!

Time Dash by Agyrzstar 2022-04-05T14:15:56Z

A clean and simple game that is still quite fun to play a couple times. The controls felt good, shots went where I wanted them, and the spawn rate of powerups was perfectly timed so I felt like I was always on the verge of timing out (final score 3170). I found myself wishing that there were more permanent powerups, having my speed drop back down when it ran out (with no indication of when that would happen) very nearly got me killed a couple of times. The simple art style works perfectly for this game and leaved no doubts what each element is going to do. Overall a very nice game, well done!

Happy Blast! by Smash City 2022-04-06T03:13:49Z

Bouncing on the platforms felt good, and thy are very forgiving with how you impact them, always pushing up even when I sort of clip the underside. The parts where there appeared to be an impassable arrangement of platforms was a bit irritating , as was having to restart the browser each time I fell down. Some kind of game over or at least restart button would have been nice.

The overall design is great fun, the ball and platforms perfectly match the soundtrack and sound effects (which were working for me in the web build by the way). Good luck with game jams in the future, this is an excellent start. Well done!

Digital Pet by the3rdHunter 2022-04-06T02:47:28Z

Well my clicking finger is tired now. This is a cool concept for a game in this theme, and while the implementation is simple I think that the game itself shows promise. The general art style works amazingly well for how simple it looks at first glance, I became surprisingly attached to by blob of ~100 pixels. It took me a while to realize that the bar below the food button was a slider, and was entirely unclear what benefit more expensive food would have. In general I agree with a lot of the other comments, more feedback on some things could have been nice, but I think that not having explicit hunger/outside bars for the pet is a much better representation of how pets are. Great game jam entry, well done!

p.s. It would have been nice to have a web build, this game would work well in the browser. You made this in Unity, so you can easily build a webGL build and host it on the game's itch.io page

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Button Masher by Pennycook 2022-10-03T02:56:46Z

Fun take on the theme! The difficulty of this certainly ramps up over time, and the use of the announcer to throw me off was genius. Well done!

The Game Ends by smilewood 2022-10-03T03:05:02Z

@pennycook Thanks for the feedback! I am glad that it felt like there were enough upgrade options, from my side it felt like there should have been another several layers, but sometimes simplicity works.

I didn't have any kind of end game upgrade / win condition because I figured that the exponential scaling of the time would outpace how many upgrades you could buy fairly quickly, but I also didn't have much time to test it so many guesses on the scaling were made. I do wish there had been an upgrade that let you feel like clicking manually was no longer needed, but the trend towards zero prevented that a bit.

The Game Ends by smilewood 2022-10-04T13:42:39Z

@ex3d0 Well that is embarrassing, I broke the game trying to fix an endgame bug. Thanks for telling me about it, I have updated the builds to not have the game be over in less then 10 seconds.

Optimum Tasks by Somnium 2022-10-11T02:11:42Z

For puzzles that started off seeming simple that ramped up in difficulty quite quickly in the latter few puzzles. I liked that there were multiple endings, and the story of the game was interesting and worked well with the puzzles; good framing device. Overall a well executed puzzle game, well done!

Impending Doom of a Thousand Kitties by RalfZ 2022-10-03T01:39:31Z

Very cute, a fun interpretation of the theme! I liked the method of difficulty ramp on this one, just having the sprites get in the way of each other was clever and sold the increasing number of kitties. Well done!

Sprawl: A cyberpunk interactive graphic novel by m11 2022-10-04T01:33:30Z

That is a very cool adaption of the theme. I certainly enjoyed reading through it, and even managed to approach the good ending!

Parcel Problems. by Jacob Diaz 2022-10-04T02:28:16Z

Well done game, I liked the way that you leaned into the... consistency of the physics engine. I thought that the effect as the time was about to run out, especially as I knew that a package was on its way out, really sold the mood that I think you were going for. For a game that doesn't really introduce any of what it wants you to do I found it to be fairly intuitive to figure out the parts that I needed to make a good box, good job with that. Overall this was a lot of fun, well done!

Negative-G by EX3D0 2022-10-03T02:24:22Z

The web version is not loading in Firefox, the loading bar displays but then the screen is just black.

Very short game, not a lot of platforming required, but it looks amazing and the sounds work great. I like the application of the theme and I think that this could be an interesting baseline for a larger platformer, we don't see enough with inverted gravity. I thought that the sprites were very cool, and whatever effect was used over the screen really sold it. Well done!

Out Of Memory by adam-gould 2022-10-11T03:31:25Z

Alright, I give up. After way too long I have to admit that level 8 has defeated me. I just do not see a way to approach this puzzle that does not require 22 foreword moves, so clearly there is some clever path that eludes me this evening.

Overall I found this to be a great puzzle game, I like the parallel movement of the bots in some levels that allows for some interesting optimization of the number of moves. The music and sounds were great (not driving me crazy at all after more then half an hour of staring at the same puzzle), although the stacking of the move sound when several bots are moving at the same time was a bit harsh. The art style is clear and simple, and I personally quite like how the lines on the floor look when lit up. The puzzles were reasonably challenging (until 8) and I felt that they did a good job of introducing what the different mechanics were and how to use them.

I agree with some of the other comments here that it was not clearly explained that not completing the puzzle in 10 moves was fine, and you just had to move on to another set of instructions. I did the same thing that I saw mentioned above and restarted a few times trying to get both buttons pressed in level 6. In the end I thought that the game was letting me get a less then perfect score and move on to the next level, it was a surprise to just get to continue with the remaining moves in the same level.

I quite like this style of pseudo-programming game, and I think that this was a great implementation of one. Very well done!

Out Of Memory by adam-gould 2022-10-11T14:05:35Z

@adam-gould That is interesting. Out of curiosity, and as another Unity dev who suffers sound stacking sometimes, what was your solution in the standalone builds?

Raiding By Myself by wildmusketeer 2022-10-04T01:49:48Z

Clean and simple execution of this style of puzzle game, with some fun humor thrown in. I found the gates to be a bit finicky to go through when it was just one button in front of them, but once the clone mechanic was introduced that wasn't an issue. The puzzles were well-designed and reasonably challenging, and I thought that the art style fitted the design perfectly. Overall a great game, well done!

Sushi Panic by Delightfullymad 2022-10-03T02:44:58Z

So much of my kitchen broke that I learned that standing between things lets me fix multiple things at once! I like the game, getting the sequences of inputs down for the different dishes was interesting, but I felt that the rate of things breaking was kind of absurd. I would guess that three things broke per one dish that I was able to serve, and frequently it would be right as I was pressing the last key for the input. I would have preferred that the difficulty ramp of the game came more from having to make dishes faster for more customers and less from the fact that 75% of my time I was not allowed to make sushi. Maybe just letting the current sushi finish if one was started when something broke would have felt better?

The game looks great, I love the way that the little chef runs around, and the subtle animation on everything is very fun. The audio fit the game well, although I got a bit tired of the "things break" sound (I may have just been tired of things breaking). Overall a great game, I enjoyed playing it! Well done!

Shipanic! by WilloXs 2022-10-04T13:54:57Z

I liked this one, I think it fit the theme well and in an interesting way, and it was fun to play. The graphics are great, they are fun to look at while just waiting for ships to move but do not distract from the core gameplay. The audio design is also great, the music stood out from most of what I have seen in this jam. I thought that the use of different sizes/speeds of boats with different turning circles was great, it added a lot to the challenge of trying to path them around each other. The only annoyance that I had was when boats could spawn in the upper right corner and run right into the island there more quickly then they could turn, but that only happened once before I was constantly looking up there. Overall I thought this was a well put together game, one that I would love to see more maps or some other variations in. Well done!

The Landfill by Naemis 2022-10-04T01:58:17Z

Very fun game, there is something just satisfying about blasting big things into smaller things. The inclusion of things that could chain react with no danger to the player was fantastic and led to some of the best moments when everything went boom and the coins rained down. I did find that the music loop got a bit repetitive after playing for a while, but as the only complaint I could have that is a minor one. Overall a very fin game, well done!

Lighthouse by rickylee 2022-10-04T01:38:47Z

An atmospherically amazing game! the simplicity of it is fantastic ant works perfectly got the mood that is invoked by the night. The audio for the storm was great.

Dieztion by milq 2022-10-03T02:51:39Z

Cool take on the 10 seconds theme! I was thinking about a game with abilities changing every 10 seconds, this is the first one I have seen and it is well implemented. I love the way that the character looks, and the movement feels good while playing. I would have liked to see an indication of how much time was left before something changed, aside from making it feel less like an infinite time while waiting for a wall to move it could have allowed interesting combo attempts like high jump into fast move. Your music was good and did well setting the mood of the puzzles. Maybe a sound effect when the abilities changes would have been nice but the game is great without it. Overall very well done!

it could be worse by Neollok 2022-10-04T02:40:43Z

Cool take on theme, I liked the variety of thinks that the game was able to throw at me, it made it feel different each time that I dried it. I also liked that some of them were absolutely a lot less worse then others, just lining up with the message always hovering in the background. At first it seemed that the power of my player was quite high, but the sequential removal of that power quickly put me in my place.

You did a great job making an interesting environment and especially enemies using just cubes, I think that overall your art style worked very well for this game. I liked the subtle sound of the gun, it manages to not be overwhelming even with the initially very high fire rate, but the game could have used a couple more sound effects overall. The rain effect was also great.

Overall I thought that this was quite a fun little game jam game, it had just enough replayability and an interesting take on the theme. Well done!

(Although you did make this in Unity, why no web build? We were even able to embed directly on the Ludum Dare page this time.)

SKY ROBOT QUANTUM ECHO by Bosco 2022-10-03T01:59:42Z

Looks great and is an interesting interpretation of the "double of your previous self" game mechanic. I liked the enforced timeout/lifespan of the doubles, it was a good way to work in the theme of the game jam. I found the collision to be a bit inconsistent, sometimes I caught on ledges that I thought that I cleared, but overall the movement worked well. I especially liked that firing your gun moves you, it was fun to try and use that mechanic to shortcut things. Well done!

Cartesian Planes by Nicholas Maddalena 2022-10-03T02:33:14Z

Not exactly sure what genre this falls under, but is a cool example of whatever it is (puzzle? Management? I don’t know). I like the balance you have to strike between just getting the planes where they want to go and getting additional uses of the directions, on the time limit it is an difficult challenge. I found that the movement of the planes felt a little inconsistent from time to time, the delay between movements felt like it wasn't consistent, but that didn't take anything away from the game. Overall a well designed game!

I also love just being able to tell a plane to stop. It makes so much sense.

You're going up [whether you like it or not!] by Gruff 2022-10-03T01:52:00Z

I'll be honest, I have no idea what my goal here is. Looks cool though, I like the subtle coloring on the boxes as I get close to them. An interesting game, I will have to give it another attempt if you can tell me what my goal is.

You're going up [whether you like it or not!] by Gruff 2022-10-03T02:08:28Z

That makes a lot more sense, thanks for the explanation! So now for a more complete review:

I liked the use of subtle colors on the target boxes to invite the possibility that I hit the wrong one (which I did) and then having to remember that the next time that I saw a green box I needed to skip it (of course it was something like three floors before I saw one). I found the movement controls to be a bit off, for this game I think that having the jump always go the same height would have felt better to play. I found that the powerups were inconsistent, maybe one in three of them showed the pickup effect but had no noticeable change in my speed. The sounds were good, and the game is short enough that having a 10 second music loop doesn't get annoying. Overall a fin game, well done!

10s To Decide by Rob6566 2022-10-03T02:16:36Z

I had a hard time playing this. I like the idea but the controls seemed to be not quite working (for example, hitting what looked like a speed up button paused everything and I couldn't find a way to unpause other then hitting the stats button). Once I did build a tower, getting it from unplaced to on the field seemed completely random, I couldn't figure out the rules for where they were allowed to go. I think that this game has an interesting concept, and merges a genre that I really like with this theme in a way that I couldn’t think of, but the execution is lacking a bit of polish. Good job getting something into the jam!

10-Second Bomb Squad by SpeakWithPlants 2022-10-03T01:47:52Z

I quite like this one, very well designed puzzles with simple mechanics made hard by time pressure. It looks great and I like the way that the wires are drawn, they work well. The only complaint I have is that after messing up a later bomb several times I wish there was a way to skip the timer on bombs that I knew I had solved, maybe some disarm button that triggered it as if the timer had run out. Overall a great game, well done!

LD52 — Harvest

'Arr-vest by ThePelranthean 2023-01-16T19:25:45Z

Very fun take on the theme, and a well put together game. I enjoyed the different upgrades, and I thought that locking them behind both a consumable resource and the number of kills was a clever way to discourage me from just saving for some of the more expensive upgrades, I would have had to wait for the kills anyway. I found the turning speed of the boat, while it worked well for the gameplay once there were a lot of enemies, to be a bit jarring in the beginning. To me it felt less like piloting a ship and more like turning a knob. The music and overall theming of your game was great, the pirate vibe really came through. Overall a very cool game, with a bit more to it I could see myself playing this one a lot. Well done!

p.s. Why does hitting escape end my game? I just wanted to pause and tab out of the game.

Haunted Harvest 3 by smilewood 2023-01-09T22:40:07Z

@tero-pulkkinen WASD should control the character, space should harvest crops. Were you stuck at the introduction (with text on the screen)? Spacebar progresses that but on retrospect that is not very clear.

Hope that helps!

Haunted Harvest 3 by smilewood 2023-01-09T23:01:11Z

@achilnos Was the web build embedded in the Ludum Dare page not working for you? It does not work for me using Firefox, but I also made a page on itch.io (in the links) that works for me.

Haunted Harvest 3 by smilewood 2023-01-09T23:03:33Z

@caldane The vision and intelligence are sequential unlocks, you need to get speed -> vision -> intelligence. If you did get speed vision should have unlocked.

Haunted Harvest 3 by smilewood 2023-01-09T23:06:15Z

@pusheeneiro I am sorry to hear that, I thought I had locked down the UI. Do you know what resolution you were running it at, or can you explain what scaled wrong?

Haunted Harvest 3 by smilewood 2023-01-09T23:16:28Z

@pusheeneiro Ah, interesting. I designed everything around a 16:9 aspect, and I thought that I had it restricted to not run at any other resolution. Apparently going full-screen in the web build overrides that. I am not sure that I know a way to fix that without redoing all of the UI, sorry.

Since you have a larger monitor then I do, could you try running the download version? I am curious if it has the same issues.

Haunted Harvest 3 by smilewood 2023-01-09T23:39:36Z

@achilnos Thats... new. And a bug. It looks like the scarecrow was not getting the animation reapplied for some reason when exiting the shop, and the animation does a lot to slow it down. I think that I have that fixed, I am going to update the web builds with the fix.

As for money, at the start of the game you should get 1 coin for every 8 collected wheat each night. There is an upgrade to improve that price, but we did not have enough time to make sure that those prices were any good. I just tested it and I seem to be making money as intended.

Thanks for giving it a try and for the feedback!

Scrapped by Random-storykeeper 2023-01-16T18:53:46Z

I like the idea of your health and upgrades being the same resource pool - I don't know that I have played a game with that mechanic before. Overall I thought that this game was well put together, the art and soundtrack worked well with the gameplay, and for the most part it was fun to play. As others have mentioned, it took me a while to realize that I had to get the enemies into the scrap pile, once I realized that it became a very interesting game. I found the near-frictionless bouncing to be very difficult to control, especially as the enemies colliding with each other seemed to gain momentum, so quite a few times a soft tap came flying back at me at hyperspeed. Great job with the game, it was a refreshingly new take and fun to play!

Auger Hogger by MattWoelk 2023-01-22T20:20:50Z

This game was a great example of fun with wacky physics. It made it difficult to really swap out baskets, but that was half the fun. I thought that this was also a great game for this theme, really leaning into the harvest topic. Well done?

NINE LIVES - Harvesting of souls by jan5366x 2023-01-22T20:47:17Z

A very cool platformer, although the movement controls felt very inconsistent. I really liked how you had a run through the general level layout then a return with a few changes when I had to actually collect the pickups. I found the frictionless(ish) movement and extreme air velocity to to be a bit inconsistent for the level of platforming that the game asked of me. I also had an issue as I started where after jumping off of a stack of boxes I clipped into the ground and was unable to move; I had to reload the game. Generally I found this to be a well thought-out platformer, the parts that did not work well for me did not hide the good design. Well done!

Info harvest by island-jam-2-group-3 2023-01-22T20:13:42Z

Very cool take on tower defense, I liked the two phases that the towers had to go through to actually destroy the bad info. It was hard to tell how impactful the upgrades were (as compared to just getting another tower) but I liked that they were there, it allowed for the experimentation. I found the sounds of the pages getting zapped to get a bit loud and harsh by the end. Overall great job!

Cream of the Crop by Weirdybeardyman 2023-01-22T21:05:11Z

Excellent game, I really liked this take on the theme - very funny premise. I loved flying the plane around, your flight felt very good to me, so my biggest wish for the game would have been some reason to actually leave the ground (or up the challenge by not letting me just scrape the plane across the ground without some real penalty). The way that the crop harvesting works looks great, it was very satisfying to do the core action of the game.

Having the fuel in the barn was great, although the fact that it was hovering slightly tripped me up a couple of times. Then when I came back around to get it I ended my game in the most sad place. fuel.png

Overall a great game, very well done!

Apothecary by benskca 2023-01-09T22:27:29Z

Cool concept and well executed. I think that there were a fer too may tools for the number of recipes, I would have preferred to reuse concepts rather then have every recipe that I got call for completely different steps. Looking at the book I also never was requested to make the most complex cures, so that may have been part of it. As was mentioned in another comment the cauldron was difficult to use; it was unclear when it had things in it and what those things were, leading to a couple of unexplained handfuls of ash(goop?) that I first thought was the result I was after. The background music is good and sells the chill vibes of the game, and all of the art is great. Overall a very cool concept, great job!

Word Salad by kristinamay 2023-01-16T19:39:17Z

Very cool! I loved the mad-libs story created at the end, it was a great reward for the frantic crop tending that the other days consisted of. The music picking up tempo during the farming was a great touch, it made it feel much more frantic. I did wish that I had a better idea of which types of words were going to be important in the end, while my random guesses worked out I felt like it was just a guess rather then an informed decision. Overall a great take on the theme and a fun and original game. Well done!

Mafia's Drive-Thru by Pusheeneiro 2023-01-09T22:14:01Z

This is a much harder game then I was first expecting! The constraint of no wasting parts makes it a lot harder to keep up with the orders as I was frantically trying to pull everything out of the bodies; the first time that I lost I was very confused what I had done wrong. For some reason the embedded player doesn't have full-screen enabled, so it was also made more difficult by the small size of the parts.

I think that this was a great take on the theme and managed to perfectly hit what seemed to be its tone - dark but very humorous. The art and music complemented each other very well and added to that theme. Overall very well done!

Untitled Squirrel Game by TureGrappa 2023-01-22T20:34:54Z

Great looking game and I thought that the gameplay fit the theme very well. I would have liked a less fixed camera angle, or at least the ability to rotate the camera at the low angle, especially when acorns were close to the fence or trees. While I was playing I was unable to tell if all 10 acorns were on the map or if I was going to need to go back and re-check the areas that I already found acorns in. Either way I think works well for the game, but I would have liked to know. Overall great job!

Grim Phantom by CemKaanU 2023-01-14T00:52:30Z

Very cool game, well put together and well polished. It took me a while to figure out that the scythe killed the ghosts, mostly because the location of the start button had my mouse at the top of the screen and I did not see it until too late. Once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed the challenge of not getting overwhelmed by the horde while also getting in there for melee combat. The various upgrades all felt useful, and by the time that I had them all I felt very powerful. Similarly to another commenter who posted a screenshot, my game ended with me stuck on top of a tomb, unable to move or hurt the ghosts as my health dropped. I thought that th simple art worked well with this game, (once I saw the scythe) every element was obvious in its purpose. The sound effects were great and communicated well what was going on.

Overall a great game, well done!

Necromancer's Garden by animawish 2023-01-16T19:07:14Z

An interesting combo of both the gardening and deck-builder game. I was impressed with the amount of cards and interaction of the mechanics that you were able to get to in a jam timeframe, well done. I did find some of the mechanics hard to figure out, I was never consistently able to generate mana despite trying a couple of approaches. I also found the pixelated text on the cads difficult to read while playing the game. Overall a very impressive game, well done!

Weed Em and Reap by zhelding 2023-01-12T03:35:08Z

Cool take on the theme, I like the card-based system for a resource management game. Some of the cards seemed to be way better then others for the purposes of getting a high score in only five moves, I think that a lot of the time-based (or even population gain) cards would have felt better if there was a way to increase the number of cards. I would love to try a version of this game where it ended with all three cities at 0, and see how long it took. The music and sound effects fit well with the game, and the general art design worked well. Overall an interesting game, and a cool take on the theme. Well done!

Wandering Crops by FionaSprinkles 2023-01-09T22:37:48Z

Very cool concept - I love the puzzle aspect of the game, and the interaction of the different movement mechanics was interesting. It took me a while to realize that the purple and orange plants alternated direction each step - when I first saw the arrow I thought that they would continue until they hit an edge before changing. The animation of the times changing was very satisfying, especially when it was green plant going over it. I did end up a bit stuck with too many grey squares at the end of the game and never got another green plant, but that is just how it goes sometimes. Overall a great job, congrats on your first game jam!

Harvest Shroom by Achilnos 2023-01-11T05:12:06Z

The art of this game is awesome, I love the general design of it and the music is fantastic. All of the animations fit well with the gameplay and are well done. The general idea of the gameplay is compelling, but for me it fell down a bit with the feedback that it gives the player. I found it hard to tell what was going on with the various bars, it seemed like sometimes picking up mushrooms started a bar that meant I could walk further and sometimes they added a second bar that did not seem to do anything, I still die when the first ran out. One of the things that frustrated me about that system was that when I picked up the mushrooms in the other order the same happened in reverse, when the first one I picked up ran out I died. Some form of explanation of how the mushrooms interact would have gone a long for me, playing ended up feeling less like a puzzle and more like trial and error. Overall this felt like a beautiful and well-thought out puzzle game that just wasn't able to communicate its mechanic to me. Great job with your first game jam!

Overgrowth by Sheng Mai 2023-01-09T22:04:49Z

This is a cool concept for a game and works really well with the theme. The gameplay loop is interesting to keep up with, I found balancing the different plants growing to be a cool idea. I like the idea of the plants having effects on the plants around them. The main issue that I ran into was that it was unclear how to unlock new types of plant; I seemed to be keeping up with orders and slowly gaining money but there was no feedback on if I was going to reach tier II plants or if I needed to do something else.

I love the art of this game, the different plants (from your screenshots) all have great growth stages and unique appearances. The music fits very well with the chill tone of the game and it was fun to just sit and move the cards around. I would have liked a shortcut to opening the shop, maybe space-bar should have been used for the shop rather then the pause menu. Overall a cool concept that could have used more guidance for what to do. Well done!

LD53 — Delivery

Station Run by smilewood 2023-05-02T03:53:13Z

@eeldam Ha! I did not think to disable that action during the countdown, whoops.

Station Run by smilewood 2023-05-02T03:53:21Z

@tomas-paim It does ramp up, and it was a hard line to draw between ramping up too fast to let you get far and starting slow enough that you could figure out what the physics feel like. In retrospect maybe a bit higher of a starting speed would have been good. Thanks for playing!

Station Run by smilewood 2023-05-02T03:53:38Z

@dinoraz The jump physics are variable, you jump less high by just tapping the key and fall slower by holding it, but I didn't like how it felt when I pushed it to an extreme difference. I did create the V-shape pattern rather late in the time though, maybe if I played more with that one in the game I could have adjusted it more. Thanks for playing!

Station Run by smilewood 2023-05-02T03:55:44Z

@wadlo @nastyvibrato You can Double-Jump, and then dashing in the air resets the jump for a third jump. Hope that helps, thanks for playing!

Derry by Rakowu 2023-05-02T03:46:09Z

Very chill, relaxing game. I liked the idea and for the most part the platforming felt good, although the slopes of both the rocks and plants felt very slippery and caused most of my falls. Growing the plants to make stairways is a really cool idea for a mechanic, and especially once I figured out that I could carry more then one seed and water (the drop getting bigger is a great visual) I had a very zen time climbing up to the top. I really liked the artistic style of the game, the character is great, and the music works well with it. The only issue I saw was with closing the game, there seems to be an exit button but no mouse cursor. Overall I really enjoyed this one, well done!

Tower Hold by DuoBonza 2023-05-02T02:58:09Z

I love the Tower Defense genre and this is a great execution of a TD game. The towers are all well balanced and work well together. I really like the subtle screenshake when some of them fire. Your art and sounds fit well with the game, and blended well when a lot of towers were firing at the same time.

I did not see how this game fit the delivery theme, the closest I've got is that I was trying to stop a delivery of undead :) I really enjoyed playing it however, well done!

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-02T03:24:24Z

Very cure puzzleish game. I liked the combination of exploration and logistics required to play this one. The graphics were great and the music set the mood well. Having the goal be the same money that wes required to progress to the goal was a good touch, it felt that I was working backwards until I had a good network set up and could start just making deliveries. Overall a great game, well done!

Cracken Cargo by cfinger 2023-05-04T01:33:15Z

Excellent music, fantastic visuals. This was a lot of fun to play. The physics were a bit wacky to get the hang of at first (stay on the boat you silly containers) but once I got the hang of it it worked well. Overall a great time, well done!

COLD CHEDDAR by deadjolly 2023-05-02T03:10:29Z

On the whole it is a good thing that there was no one else on the roads of your town, and that the car is indestructible :) I really liked this idea for the game jam, and I think that you executed it well. The car was fun to drive around, if not simple to get where I was trying to go, and the lack of an overall timer or goal kept the pizzas getting cold from being frustrating. Overall a well put together game, well done!

Snail Mail by rkeele 2023-05-02T03:03:42Z

Fun and frantic. This game quickly crushed my dreams of being on top of sorting the mail. I thought that it was well put together, the stream of letters ramping up was very fun. The music wes also well done and fi perfectly with the sorting. A very well-executed concept, well done!

LD54 — Limited Space

Spell Crafter VR by kimau 2023-10-02T23:02:38Z

Awesome to see a VR game in the jam! I will admit I had a hard time figuring out what the goal was, playing around with it for a little while it was unclear what impacted my score. I loved the theming and effects though, I think I can see where your vision with this one was going with this one and I like it. This put so many ideas in my head about spell-building mechanics...

Fantastic job, well done!

Shutdown by smilewood 2023-10-03T03:33:51Z

@technonugget I was aware that the embed here doesn't work sometimes, although I thought it was just Firefox it was not working in. I just tried a couple other browsers and it doesn't seem to work at all, so I am just going to remove the embed.

Limited in Space by MattHartley 2023-10-03T01:30:03Z

Well done, I think you nailed what you were going for. The game was a lot of fun and had enough variety to keep me playing a while. Good Work!

Cyberframe EDEN by kiririn51 2023-10-03T01:59:03Z

Interesting card battle mechanics. I thought this was an interesting game with a lot of great art and sounds. I would have liked more information on the order that the cards were played in, If I had to guess off of playing several rounds it felt like there was a preset order based on the card, so generally they went in an advantageous order, but I was never sure. Swapping around equipment on a mech to determine what cards are available is an awesome design choice for deck-building and I liked that you had several different builds possible. Overall a very well done, great game!

Antigravity Cat Orbs by John Saba 2023-10-02T23:49:30Z

Simple and fun. I think above everything else I enjoyed the sounds, the music was chill and the bounce sounds made me smile. The repetitive nature of the gameplay was nice, I like how your interpretation of the theme led to a very contained play area. Once I got the hang of the angles that the bounces would lead to I made it to 21 within my completely arbitrary timer. Overall a great game jam entry, well done!

Melody of the wild: Panda's campfire quest by MarcoDeevil 2023-10-02T23:55:35Z

You warned me and you told the truth, this is as much a challenge as it is cute. This game seems to nail the vibe it was going for, the relaxing chilling by the campfire rapidly became a frantic hope that the arrows would recharge just that bit faster and finally wound down into the inevitability of the closing circle. Awesome job!

HEXAK by Phillip Scott 2023-10-03T00:11:15Z

A cool tile-adjacency puzzler. I like this style of game so I was happy to get to play this one. Overall I think it was a well-implemented game, you got in an impressive number of building types for a game jam, along with well polished graphics and sounds. Some of the building activation/bonus requirements were unclear to me, while the mines lit up as soon as they had the required people and power I never saw the solar panels do the same even with several of them clustered. Having a bit more clarity on what was going to light up the time would have been nice. (looking again at the instructions it says they just need to be connected and have enough workers
I could have sworn that I did when I noticed things not lighting up, but maybe I misread the status)

Overall I enjoyed the game a lot, well done!

Fun Ant Game by ElmoEinstein 2023-10-03T02:38:55Z

I may have spent too long playing this. The game does what it says on the tin, there are ants and the game is fun. This is a very interesting combination of idle game and city builder that I don’t think I have run across before, I enjoyed it a lot. Some of the scaling prices had be getting worried for a little bit that it was set up to not allow me to get to that 3000 food cap, but that turned out to be because I was trying to only build the large storages. Once I started building the less expensive stuff it all worked out. I will admit I was a bit disappointed that unlocking Obama did nothing, but I didn’t really need it to by that point.

The art in this game was great, I liked how as the ant population grew they filled out the nest until I sent them out on their one-way missions. It did seem to me that the ants only spawned from the initial Queen, I think that it would have been cool if I could have used the location of more Queen rooms to spread the population out more. The music was nice and chill.

Overall I had a lot of fun playing this one, well done!

Harborea by googlypoo 2023-10-02T23:40:24Z

Fun take on the theme with reasonably challenging puzzles. Once I got used to the controls (sometimes I lost track of where my mouse was in the upper right corner) I enjoyed loading up the boat. Graphics look great and the sounds work well. Overall a well put together jam game, well done!

S-Cargo by floralvikings 2023-10-03T00:24:28Z

Cool concept, interesting take on the theme, and a wonderful pun for a game title. I like the concept of having to decide between cargo and ship upgrades, it thought that it lead to an interesting decision point (more info on what the parts did could have been nice). I am not the biggest fan of the “solve a maze from the inside” game, but this was an interesting implementation of it with the use of momentum to keep moving around the maze interesting. The dialog that went along with both sides of the deliveries was fantastic, I thought you nailed the comedy of the game jam. Overall a great jam game, well done!

Briefcase Bandit by Sown 2023-10-02T23:28:51Z

I like the concept and I think this was a great take on the theme. I found the gameplay loop to be a bit off, it may have been nice to have some indication of what the next level would look like (something like a blueprint?) without having to walk out of the hideout and then find the right key to go back (side note, it would be nice to put the R control in your list of controls, I missed it the first time the game told me about it). I do really like the idea behind planning for a heist but only being able to bring a small amount of supplies, although having the larger limit between the levels was a pain, when I used my last grenade and then needed another for the next level I got a bit stuck.

Overall good concept, good art to go with it. Well done!

Ride to Clown School by Neandi 2023-10-02T23:13:23Z

Fantastic sounds, funny graphics, abuse of a physics engine, what more could be asked of a Ludum Dare game? This one was a lot of fun and felt like it had a lot of polish. Several small details stood out to me that really tied it all together like the wheels on the car not being round and the slightly unhelpful hinges on the seats in the cars. I think that this was a great interpretation of the theme and it made me laugh a bunch. Well done!

Super Amazing Lighthouse Repair Crew by jusentari 2023-10-03T01:48:47Z

This is a very cool tower-defense concept, I like the strategy of having to pick a set of towers that fits onto the raft between waves. I would have liked more information (in game or on the LD page) about what each tower did so I could make a more informed decision then just based on size, I found it hard in the heat of repairing to try and figure out how they worked.

Once I figured out that I could only move around after placing the engineer “tower” I really enjoyed the gameplay loop of this game. Having the re-embarking of the towers be a part of the same timer as repairing was a nice touch, it kept things feeling frantic even after I had overwhelming firepower as I needed to get all those towers loaded up.

I did not discover if there was a victory condition, being taken by the tide and my own hubris, but I enjoyed my time playing this one a lot. Great game, great job!

TurtleTD by RubyDaPrincess 2023-10-02T23:16:10Z

Sadly I have to agree with the others, the embedded player is not working in any of the browsers I tried. If you get it fixed or upload a standalone build let me know, I would love to try the game.

LD55 — Summoning

Damn! Jury Summons?! by kleinzach 2024-04-18T02:55:38Z

Simple and well executed. It took me a couple of tries to win, turns out reading the character of the jury members helps a lot figuring out which abilities will be helpful. I love this take on the theme!

Denimancers: You Reap what you Sew by Riley Miller 2024-04-19T01:57:05Z

This is a hilarious game concept, and a well executed game. The idea of dressing up enemies to turn them to your side is very cool, and overall I thought it played well. It took me a bit to realize that my summons did not directly attack the boss, but part of that may have been that I did not get a chance to read all of the instructions before the enemies started flooding in. The game did get a bit laggy towards the end as I flooded the field with pants, but it cleared up well as the battle took place. Overall great job, even more so for making your own engine!

Mansion of Dreams by saintchristopher777 2024-04-18T03:12:09Z

Cool combo-logic game. Some of the connections were a bit tenuous and I was very thankful that you had a hints section when I was stuck, but the riddle hints with each lock were generally very good. I liked the concept of exploring the mansion with various others, although the distance between rooms felt a bit big at points, going from the top to the summoning circle the multiple times it took to solve was a bit much. Overall I think this is a great puzzler, well done!

Spoonmaster by RumiaObsessed 2024-04-19T02:08:34Z

A very humorous take on the theme, just reading the description of your game made me laugh. Gameplay was good, although I think that the number of enemies ramped up a bit quickly, I was still trying to get a handle on the controls and there were forks flying in from four or five enemies. Dodging the thrown forks felt very difficult, especially as I was trying to line up my own attacks.

The animations and audio design were great, especially for the boss fights portals. I did think that dodging the boss was a bit easy, nothing ever hit the lower floor, so I just had to wait each cycle out while the boss was flying and then hit when it was on my level. The music was great.

Overall a great game jam game, well done!

FRIEND FRIEND by JAMESDEV 2024-04-19T01:45:18Z

This is a cool take on the theme, it definitely fits without being too heavy handed with the summoning. I liked the platforming puzzles, and I think it is a great sign for your game that I could think of several other combinations of the two basic mechanics that could have been levels themselves.

Your graphics are clean and well done, they provide a tiny bit of atmosphere mostly without distracting from communicating the level geometry. There was a room (the sixth one?) where a support pillar looked a lot like it would be a wall or a door, but there is no other path to the exit so it is simple to solve.

I did find it a bit jarring to have to keep swapping from the spacebar to the mouse to reset levels, having the spacebar select the only menu option or the mouse work for the jump input may have been helpful. Overall a great jam game, well done!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Microdominion by LeReveur 2024-10-12T02:44:41Z

Contemplative is a great description of this game. There is something relaxing about watching the divisions, and your art style did a lot for it working as well as it does. I think it may have been more interesting to have the choice of any of the upgrades each time I lost, I probably would have tried a few different “builds” to see what the stats did; some of them were not very clear (what could the difference between percept.width and distance be?). Along with that could have gone some kind of score counter for the number of rounds won and lost. Aside from the things I could see making this an even better game, as a contemplation experience I think it did great. Very well done!

Cheese It! by drinkycode 2024-10-20T02:43:39Z

There is a lot to like about this game. The use of the theme and the visuals are great. I like the challenge of avoiding the other mice while trying to collect. My one complaint is that tossing the cheese felt really random, as far as I could tell it did not matter where my (computer) mouse was or which way my (character) mouse was moving. That made it kinda difficult to actually toss it at the other mice. Aside from that I had a lot of fun with this game, great job!

PinPalBall by CodeChomper 2024-10-12T02:32:22Z

As much as I am bad at them pinball games are always cool. This one has some fun unique mechanics in the infinite balls and steadily declining score until you lose. I felt like I could have used more feedback on what things that I was hitting gave me points, but overall I thought this was very well done!

TinySim by JPatrick 2024-10-17T04:03:13Z

This is an interesting evolution simulator. I agree with you that being able to guide a single species in the evolving world would have been more involved as a game, but as the groundwork for something like that this as awesome.

Pick Up Lines by gamebuilder 2024-10-12T02:19:17Z

A very strange little game. Lost in a maze with little direction, strange things on the walls, and a spooky background track. I never managed to do much other then get lost, even after restarting and trying to understand the map better, but that did not feel like it detracted from the experience.

I think I can see some of what you were going for with the Tiny Creatures theme, but most of what I can think of is a stretch. Overall well done, your game certainly made me think.

Ratcatcher by HardyTryer 2024-10-12T01:50:46Z

Very silly, very fun. I like all of the different effects going on here, the splatters when people pop are great. I felt like it could have used some kind of limit on the spawning, being able to spawn limitless rats removed the challenge from the game, but at the same time the control of them is not fine enough to guide a limited pool around every obstacle so I don’t know if that would have been better. Overall very cool.

Little Defenders by Ty Victorson 2024-10-20T02:51:18Z

Cool RTS game, well done in a game jam. I liked the music and the sound effects made me laugh. The fighters have really bad aim, but piling enough of them together made up for it. I did find a bug where clicking the building select button would immediately build that building under where the button was regardless of if I had the resources for it, but otherwise the game worked great, great job!

Critter Mayhem by MachWerx 2024-10-12T01:57:00Z

Fantastic use of flocking for a game, I enjoyed guiding them around trying to dodge the whale. The speed ramping gets intense pretty fast, by the time I got to 15 it never felt like more then luck to doge anymore. The music is nice and calming, the overall vibe of th game really does it for me. Well done!

Wings of War by Elmos Minion 2024-10-20T03:00:16Z

I enjoyed this game quite a bit, it had a fun theme and reasonably well-executed gameplay. Dive-bombing the ants was quite a bit of fun, although I did find myself wishing that I had the ability to strafe at all, especially when fighting the boss it was very hard to doge when the only way to line up shots was to fly straight at it. The sounds and visuals were great, overall very well done!

Homunculi by AlpalcaLad 2024-10-12T02:08:28Z

Neat game, I liked a lot of the concepts in it. The jump mechanic was great, having to make sore the rotation was correct to get a good jump was an interesting challenge I have not seen before. I found the arm grab, as powerful a traversal tool as it is, to be a bit janky and hard to use consistently, but if with some smoothing out of the mechanics I could see this being a very fun platforming concept. The art fits well with the game and the music is great background. Overall very well done!

Look by sudocoffee 2024-10-12T02:26:24Z

Writing a renderer is impressive. Your game concept is very cool, I like the controlling several viewpoints aspect. The gameplay itself confused me, I couldn’t figure out what the goal was. Not sure I would sit down and puzzle through a full game, but I know a lot of people would, so this is really cool. Overall fantastic job!

Creature Box by rainbeau 2024-10-12T03:00:17Z

@doublemintben Interesting, I guess none of us ever tested at anything other then a 16x9 aspect. I know Unity UI can be a bit finicky when changing aspect ratio, sorry about that. What screen resolution do you run at so I can keep other common ones in mind in the future? I am glad you enjoyed the gameplay overall, thanks for the comment!

Creature Box by rainbeau 2024-10-21T02:37:37Z

@azimiro we were asking ourselves that too as soon as the first other person give it a try. My best answer is that we knew what they did so did not think about explaining it during development :)

Not Alone by Leo Fu 2024-10-12T03:06:17Z

Cool concept of nesting different creatures with different abilities, I don't know if I have seen it to this extent before. I thought that your art style and music were fun and did a lot for the mood of the game. I did have issues with it crashing when I died which was too bad, I wasn’t able to finish the game. Overall well done, this is a fun one!

Happy Bees by Lunaria Rava 2024-10-17T03:57:00Z

Fun, chill game. I love games about placing hexes on a board, this is a great example of why. The slow ramp of complexity as more flower types are added is great. I did not notice until I was looking at the page to write this review that I could rotate tiles, so that would probably have made my life easier, but the game never giving me any tiles with pink flowers on them also made it hard to get past 75. I would have liked to be able to zoom the map out a little more, but overall I thought that the UI was excellent. Great game jam entry!

Regenesis: Bacteria King by Synapse316 2024-10-12T03:13:34Z

The lack of instruction is a bit of a disappointment (especially as that seems to be the thing that the LD page says will exist), I was playing around with the first cell creation page and ended up completely stuck as I had added too many things trying to figure out what did what and was unable to select Start. Backing out and selecting New Game warns that it will clear the save but when I select the first level it still has too many parts. The New Cell button does not seem to do anything.

It is too bad that I had this issue, this seems like it could be an interesting concept for a game, I am always a sucker for cell-building games.

For Someone by L-sien 2024-10-12T02:55:32Z

This game has to be the lowest-energy bullet hell game I have ever played. For all that it defied a lot of the conversion of the genre I did it very well and felt like it fit together perfectly. The chill background music let me just zone into the gameplay and the story elements mixed in were touching. I think that not having sound effects for the shot sounds from me or the enemy did a lot to keep the mood of the game in the place that I think you wanted it. I am not the hugest fan of playing bullet hell games, but the no-stakes nature of getting hit in this one (other then a score at the end, which I accidentally hit ‘x’ too fast to read) was perfect for me to just fall in and enjoy the vibes. Overall very well done, great game!

LD57 — Depths

BeltCo Mining Inc. by smilewood 2025-04-07T01:53:33Z

I am going to put my retrospective in the comments this time! I had a lot of fun going back to a solo project, and while I missed the extra day the jam rules get you it was a fun challenge to cram this project into the 48 hours. I feel like I got all the pieces that I wanted to into this game, the real thing that started the concept in my mind was the upgrade tree. While with more time I would probably have added several more different upgrades (bouncing/penetration on the shots, laser beam attack, and some sort of warp drive were all ideas I had) I do feel like I committed to a reasonable set of upgrades that was actually implementable in the time.

My only real regret is that I did not have time to do any sound effects at all. I decided to focus on having *most* of the art instead of leaving a bunch of things as just white squares, so that was the tradeoff. I think if I was doing this in the Jam time-frame the polish that I could have added would have been awesome. (who am I kidding, I would have increased the scope and still barely gotten it in in time).

Overall good time, I am happy with what I ended up with. Now I just need to play it and find out how horribly balanced my prices are for the upgrades :)

BeltCo Mining Inc. by smilewood 2025-04-07T19:21:48Z

@atsh @dnp With more playtesting after the compo ended I would tend to agree with you, in retrospect I wish the ship started with more fuel. I set up the starting amount before having the central station that you have to get back to. I was just guessing with some of the upgrade numbers and looking at it with fresh eyes I think that the way it is now is probably rather grindy to get any progress. Thanks for the comments!

BeltCo Mining Inc. by smilewood 2025-04-07T19:23:26Z

@azimiro Movement independent of the facing was my original design, but I had too much fun drifting the ship while testing it (and I did not want to try and figure out a way to get the thrust effects to work to my satisfaction while still rotating the ship) Thanks for the comment!

Clock In by leparlon 2025-04-07T17:31:34Z

Nicely done, I feel you with the challenge of adding story to a game in a game jam timeframe. I thought that your game did a fun job of telling the dystopian world story you were going for, I liked the way that it progressed.

INFERNAL DESCENT by wisstopher 2025-04-11T04:25:39Z

Very cool game, great scenes that provided a perfect atmosphere. Your sound design went a long way towards providing the vibes and was well done. I liked the introduction of the couple of puzzle mechanics then the "gauntlet" of having to use them.

I did find that moving the power orb was a little tricky, it seemed to be clipping into my character and making movement hard unless I moved backwards, but since there were only a couple of puzzles with one that minor bug did not detract form the game.

On the whole a fun and impressive game jam entry, great job! I never did trust that Stan guy :)

Steve the Smith by Adam Martin 2025-04-13T01:05:11Z

I love the vision that your game shows. The art is great and the overall mechanic makes a lot of sense for this theme. As several others have mentioned I found the controls to be very hard to work with. Having three different buttons for the different mining directions felt unintuitive to me, and more frustratingly the movement felt like it was fighting me the whole time. Sticking to the walls when moving into them is a cool mechanic that I have not seen in a mining game before and it is one that I think has a lot of potential for allowing mining even if you missed some ore (and I did appreciate the ability to mine up, a lot of this style of game don't allow that). I found that it did make it difficult to accurately get anywhere however, I kept trying to jump into gaps and ended up sticking just above or below them. Perhaps, as others have mentioned, a wall-jump could have helped, or even more simply changing the walls to only stick when moving down?

This is a great game jam game with a lot of potential, great job!

Selective Drilling by Xwilarg 2025-04-07T19:18:32Z

Cool game, there is always something fun about a game involving drilling. Controlling how far I would go with each drill took a while to get the hang of, the way that it pushes the character forward is a little strange. Maybe if the highlights also showed tiles beyond the first layer it would have been more clear? I found the combat part of the game a bit tricky, sometimes it felt like the drill dash would push me forward just enough that I would take damage but not hit the enemies. I did like the way the map generation worked, the different caverns of enemies worked well for your game and the theme. Overall well done!

Jellylight by Steven Garberg 2025-04-09T02:55:56Z

Clean and simple, an overall well executed game. The controls really felt like I would imagine a jellyfish would, pulses of movement and a lot of drifting. Having to doge the creatures made it an interesting descent, although I did wish that my glow faded slower in the light circle that the other jellys cast, it would have given spaces to catch my breath. Your graphics were a lot of fun, and the bubbles in the background lent a lot to the sense of depth. Overall a great game jam entry, well done!

Party Crasher by gamebuilder 2025-04-09T00:40:51Z

Love the artwork and the overall style of the game really works. I had trouble figuring out if I was meant to interact with the enemies or just try and get past them as fast as I could, there did not seem to be any feedback when I stood next to them and hit space other then my health going down. I think this is a solid base for a cool story experience with some polish though, great job!

The Depths by Lexxio 2025-04-09T03:11:10Z

This is an awesome concept for a game! Your simple and readable design made it a lot of fun to wander around the map, and the use of the four sides of a cube for the world is awesome. I really enjoyed figuring out how the lasers worked on the second map (although an indication of which way the redirection circles were facing would have been nice, I didn't realize my interaction with them did anything for a while). Sound effects were simple and effective. I can only share your regret that there was only one level, I wanted more. Fantastic job!

Cosmo- Bounce by kawa-yoiko 2025-04-09T03:31:35Z

Not really sure what the goal of this one is, but it sure does a thing when I pull the lever. The sounds and graphics are cool, but I would have liked a little more to work towards. I unlocked a gallery? then it was right back to the same. Nicely done anyway, your game seems to work well.

A Game About Digging an Asteroid by toreskovic 2025-04-09T02:16:57Z

This game was a lot of fun, great job getting good a voxel game working in a game jam timeframe. The gameplay loop was entertaining, with enough time pressure from the mounting taxes that it felt like there were stakes. I never felt like I ran out of battery, but the other two upgrades both felt meangingful, and the tradeoff between upgrading now or saving for the countdown was good. I also thought your game was the perfect length for the jam, it gave me enough of a taste for the gameplay without feeling grindy. Great job overall!

The Depths of Magic by benjamm 2025-04-08T02:01:57Z

Generally a fun gameplay concept, although it did not manage to hook me into playing over and over again I could see a refinement of this getting there. The loop of picking upgrades from three choices then going forward with those upgrades is tried and true, and I think that you had enough variety of upgrades to keep it interesting. Some of the upgrades seemed wildly more potent than others (the first one I saw was +3 shots; the next round I was offered a little more range, which was hardly noticeable) which left some choices being more predetermined then others. It could have been interesting to have upgrades that locked me into a path, something like splash damage vs multiple projectiles.

The character art is fun, I like all the animations that the creatures do when coming after you. I did find some of the death animations hard to differentiate from their attacks, but as they were then dead that did not affect gameplay. I did notice that dying enemies still absorbed shots; especially in the first few floors it was a bit painful to fire a spread of four shots that all went into a single enemy that a single one would have killed. I could certainly feel the enemy scaling in health as I got deeper into the tower, although I couldn’t tell if the number of enemies was also meant to scale. I definitely saw some waves on the later floors with a single flying enemy.

Overall a great game jam entry, well done!

Where I belong by un_kirik 2025-04-09T02:49:38Z

Loved the comic cutscenes and the overall story of the game! Getting the poor fish back into the depths where it belongs was a great mission for a game. controlling the fish felt fine but some of the interactions felt a little iffy, a couple of the jellyfish seemed to have very large hitboxes and I saw several sharks swim through walls or just disappear. It is shocking how full of trash our oceans are! I thought the music worked well with the mood of your game. Overall a fun experience, well done!

Neuronic Netronics by kaliuresis 2025-04-09T02:28:09Z

This is a really cool game, I think that especially the was the sounds and graphics interact really sell what you are going for. Moving the connections around and sliding the sliders was cool. I did have a lot of trouble figuring out how to get connections to form, and the overall goal of the puzzles I did solve was still a mystery, I ended up messing with things until it worked. I think that with just a little explanation on what the individual pieces did it would have been a lot more approachable. Aside from that though this is a very impressive piece of work, well done!

Project Planetfall: The Exodus Directive by rainbeau 2025-04-08T02:43:06Z

I love what you are going for with this game, it is a massive project with a lot of moving parts for attempting in a game jam. The “manage a vessel that you are in” genre is one that is a lot of fun, and you have gotten an impressive prototype of one in this project.

On the whole several of the interactions felt a little bit clunky. Clicking on items once in the storage UI then again to pick it up springs to mind, same with what seemed like extra storage shelves at the front of the ship (I couldn’t tell what those were for). Really a lot of the game would have been improved with some sort of instructions; the drills, my favorite minigame, took a while to figure out because I kept trying to steer them while extended, just having text like “Aim then extend” on screen when using them would have helped a lot.

I would have liked a progress bar for
well a lot of things, notably the foundry cooking up things and the fuel/coolant remaining. Seeing the numbers for the latter two doesn’t mean much to me. On the whole there are just a lot of numbers all over the screen that I basically don’t look at most of the time, refining them to be graphical indicators would go a long way.

The art style in your game is great! I love the character who just looks like this dangerous expedition into the depths is another day at work. The ship itself is well designed (if a little empty, was something meant to be in the back room?) and all of the systems are readable as what they are. The sound effects and music are a good touch.

Overall I think this game has a lot of potential, and with a little more polish on the presentation of several of the systems would be a game I could play a bunch. Well done!

BucketWell by Azimiro 2025-04-09T01:13:43Z

Clean and simple. While I had a lot of trouble getting the up and down to be helpful for me I really liked the control scheme you came up with, it is fairly unique and really works with your game. The music and other sounds match the theme you have and all the art is well done. Overall a great jam entry!

Descent by Subsolar 2025-04-09T00:59:24Z

Solid game, I quite like the duality of the amount of time it takes to platform being the time that you have to survive, and the powerups picked up acting as checkpoints in the shooter was a nice touch. Your graphics worked great, sound effects made everything feel solid, and the boss had a bunch of attack patterns. Really the only thing that did not work great for me was that space did not also work to jump, the first platforming level took me way to long as I tried to get my brain to use space to hover but not to jump and the up key to jump but not hover. Aside from that minor mental remapping this was pretty much perfect, great job!

Sonar by Kawair 2025-04-09T02:34:17Z

I have always liked games with a explore by using sonar or echolocation mechanics, and this is no exception. While simple due to your time limit it is well put together, and the main mechanic is done well. As someone who has also crammed a game into just a couple hours of a jam in the past I am very impressed, you even got some simple music into it. Fantastic work!

The Trench by atsh 2025-04-09T01:08:47Z

This is a great, quick, deep dive (sorry) into just how deep parts of the ocean go. I really liked the sonar ping effect, it was very effective for keeping enough of a view on the edges that following them was possible but also selling just how dark it gets down there. I think this game is a great example of how to bite off just the right amount of game for a jam and execute it well. Great job!

WAG-ME: Pump-and-dump Sim by solmaris 2025-04-07T16:52:59Z

Cool little idle clicker game. I found it a little unclear how to make money, but as a game just chugging along behind things that I just needed to check in on once and a while it does well. Watching a graph go up is always fun. Nicely done!

LD58 — Collector

Station 9 by quadtree 2025-10-19T02:03:32Z

Simple and straightforward puzzles that are very well put together. The audio balance could have used another pass, collision sounds were so loud compared to anything else, but any audio in a game jam is impressive. After reading the introduction screen I did go check out your ludum page, I think its really cool having references to previous games you have made in here. Great job!

1100 Dots by thingus 2025-10-06T23:29:22Z

Cool concept game, playing with what felt a lot like orbital physics with a twist was fun. It took a little experimenting to figure out what the mechanic was, but as soon as it clicked that “Oh, I am a vacuum” I had a lot of fun. Adding the progression of difficulty getting the dots into the circle was a good touch, it stopped me from just parking the triangle and holding the same spot. The devious trap of the game hanging when passing over the goal did end my run just shy of the goal :( This was a lot of fun to play with for a little bit, nice job!

Rock Collector by smilewood 2025-10-10T00:50:18Z

@frozendude Hmm.. yeah it looks like I messed up a number and the trains only give 10 rocks per trip at the base level. That is quite a bit short of the intent given how long it takes to cycle. Whoops.

@kotolazer Yeah, the base level collectors feel quite slow to me as well in retrospect. I found myself trying to collect one of the locations so they would just stay in another. Sorry you didn't make it to the train section, the trains are used once you unlock the mines, but you would likely have found them disappointing since, as skale noticed, they didn't end up as powerful as I intended.

Windows Explorer 2 by torcado 2025-10-18T16:30:39Z

Really cool concept for a game hampered a little bit by the difficulty in figuring out what it wanted me to do. I think it may not play nicely with multiple monitors because after a lot of trial and error I finally figured out that the game only noticed some windows that were open on one of my monitors but showed its version of them when I dragged the window around on the other one. That compounded the amount of time it took me to figure out that different windows generated different environments and led to me spending a lot of time collecting low value icons. The upgrades are similarly unexplained, I think the data siphon was just passive income, but since it looked like it was trying to be bolted onto a window I couldn’t tell if it interacted with any other upgrades.

With all that said, I think this is a really cool game. The interaction with the windows I have open is not something I have seen before and if it had been overlaying properly with my environment I can see how awesome it would be to have a window that opens another world for my programs. A little more polish and explanation and I could see this being a fin game to have in the background for a lot of time.

Great job overall!

corvid cache by daniel 2025-10-19T01:55:26Z

Loved the flying, not so much the blur across everything. I had a lot of fun collecting stuff nearby but then got very lost as soon as I got a little ways away and just had fun exploring the world. There seemed to be another hat shop on top of the mountain that was floating in the air above my head, I couldn't tell if I should have been able to interact with it. Overall a great jam entry, well done!

Space derelict data collector by notime4games 2025-10-15T01:28:20Z

A nice procedural map, entertaining controls, and fantastic mood. This is a great prototype of what could be a very fun game with some mechanics like running out of fuel or doing anything with the collected data. Well done!

Gen0 by tomrijnbeek 2025-10-18T15:57:59Z

I really enjoyed this one, great take on the theme and well executed! The difficulty ramp certainly struck me as well; I think that the main thing was missing which programs closed and then not having enough time to go through the list one by one during the next cycle. Something as simple as a couple of blinks as they closed may have been all that I would have needed to keep better track. I liked the effects on the viruses, both the subtle flicker in the grid and the name swapping in the list were just enough to draw attention without being super obvious. This was a great way to take the Collector theme, I wish I had thought of it! Great job!

Wind Collector by MaiMai 2025-10-19T02:13:11Z

Nice and chill, as advertised. the ramping up of income was fast enough that I was never bored and the environment a nice peaceful thing to have on the other screen as I write this review. I do wish there was more to discover on the island, maybe areas with differing wind power, but that is way out of the reasonable scope of a game jam :) I would have liked some indication of how the power produced related to income, it felt like I got more the more power I had but was hard to tell. Overall a great peaceful time, I enjoyed the buildup to larger things. Great job!

Webbed Up! by Fractal 2025-10-18T16:06:42Z

Fun and chill puzzle. Once I got the hang of what the game was asking me to do I has a great time catching the bugs. The unexplained but easy to find mechanic of using the spider to scare away the bugs that I didn’t want to catch was great to figure out and useful in several situations.

Part of me wonders if there should have been some kind of limit on the levels, time or web or something else, I found in several of them that I spent a lot of time waiting for the bugs to sort themselves out into an advantageous layout for me. Maybe just giving them a small chance to fly away on their own after an amount of time would have put some pressure on me.

Overall a great take on the theme and a fun game to play for a little while, well done!

Artifact Hunter by Jhonny111 2025-10-06T23:03:37Z

This game is a great baseline. I love games like this with progressive upgrades that let you go out and do better and better. The multiple hardpoints for guns on my ship were fun, leading to an interesting addition to the tactics of the combat. I did find myself wishing that the enemies ramped up faster, I quickly got to the point where they were dying before I saw them on screen for more then a moment, and I never was swarmed by several of them. Something is up with the audio in this game. You are correct that the sounds are a bit quiet in most of the game, I could barely tell there were sounds, however every time I clicked a button that (I assume) changed scenes it slammed me with a blast of sound for a moment. Because of that I had to turn it down all the time so I didn’t get to tell how well the sounds fit the game. Overall I thought this was a good bit of fun, well done!

Patch-flip Scout Camp by BeanSecrurityRat 2025-10-06T22:52:26Z

Very fun take on the deck-builder concept! I enjoyed the surprising amount of strategy generated by just having two possible actions for each coin, and the available types of coins were all interesting. There was enough potential variety that I could see several possible builds if there were just a couple more pieces. The visuals and these were great, the collecting spirit of Scouts is crazy. I did not personally care for the constant motion of the pixelated borders, but it does add a lot of motion that would otherwise be missing and would have made the game feel very static. The sounds of flipping the coins were great. Overall I had a lot of fun playing this one, well done!

Planet Extraction by Aviv Levy 2025-10-06T23:21:15Z

Nice artwork and a fun gameplay loop. It never ended up feeling like I was made useless by the drones, but the still did help to ramp up the speed that everything progressed at - nicely done with a tricky bit of balance. Well done!

Slime Collector by tentekifish 2025-10-06T23:11:05Z

Cool concept - I liked the idea of trying to avoid the enemies until large enough to envelope them. I did run into a wall after a very short time playing when no more slimeballs seemed to spawn, and combat with the other slimes always seemed to be a net negative. I think this concept has a lot going for it, I could see several ways forward; the obvious agar.io eating others makes you bigger, maybe something with powerups that let you specialize? Lots of ways this could be expanded on. The art style is perfectly cute, I think it did a lot for my enjoyment. Nice job!

Ammonite Hunter by FrozenDude 2025-10-10T00:43:32Z

Excellent jam game! Slightly janky controls that did not distract from the gameplay, simple premise that way accomplished in a quick play session, good art and _sounds_. Overall great job!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Compute and Compile by ping78 2018-05-06T04:36:47Z

Quite a fun game to play. Impressive work writing a computer player for it, even if it isn't as aggressive as it would have needed to be to win. I think that this was a very well done execution of your goal for this theme, and just needs a bit more polish with control and UI to become a great game in the future.

Zombie Golf by RahmKota3 2018-05-06T04:04:14Z

Very difficult but quite fun. I quite like the concept of trying to golf while running for your life from a horde. I didn't hear any sounds form the game (playing on the web version), and I think that it would have benefited from them. The only other issue i had with it was that sometimes I would get stuck running in one direction until I ran into a wall. I only made it a couple of levels in, but I like that you have at least a few unique levels. Great, fun submission.

The Tale of Rulers by Spaceface14Dev 2018-05-14T17:34:18Z

Great concept regarding a puzzle platformer. I enjoyed figuring out how to get through the different levels, but I did find the controls and collisions a bit wonky. Because of the way that brushing against the sides of platforms causes jumps to halt I had trouble figuring out how high the different rulers could jump, and it took me a while to figure out that they cannot jump the same amount. I really like the idea of switching between the three characters to solve the puzzle. I also did not hear any audio, and i think that your game could have benefited from just some simple sound effects when jumping and switching characters. Fantastic art style, I think that it works perfectly. this is a great first entry to Ludum Dare, I hope that you keep going and making these awesome games.

LD59 — Signal

Plug n Play: Mixed Signals by LandoSystems 2026-04-28T23:32:35Z

Solid game, well executed. The graphics and audio were well done and complemented the gameplay well. I didn't find that I had to optimize the firing patterns much, but the mechanic of swapping wires around was a solid one. Overall a fun game, well done!

Please Press Button by shadow64 2026-04-26T15:58:06Z

Simple and effective. The gameplay loop was basic, but well executed and perfect for a game jam. the music was great and coupled with the quick pace of the game really set the mood well. Overall a solid game, well done!

Signal Blast by smilewood 2026-04-21T04:08:23Z

@shu-wen Sometimes the real signal is the friends we made along the way. I am not an artist and I decided to spend the most of a day I would have taken to make art making the game work better. The thought for the theme (as explained in the description) is that the remote-control character needs to assemble/charge signal booster towers to improve the available options. The theme was an inspiration for the game, rather than being the core mechanic. Sorry if that disappoints you.

@isaac-hisey Thanks! I spent a bunch of time doing core system setup, it was very satisfying seeing it come together into the game I envisioned by the end. A little more UI and I think it would stand up to any (72 hour) game in the genre ;)

Gridlock by MaggardJosh 2026-04-23T02:25:47Z

Awesome use of the theme to encourage innovation! I kept thinking that I had configurations that would be slightly stable but the great design of the map and the pathing through it kept showing me how wrong I was. This is a very satisfying game to chill and play as the wave of cars slams through the one blockage they build up behind - props for making multiple game modes in a game jam! Well done!

Good Boy by thunderklaus 2026-04-28T13:58:38Z

Very well executed, I had a lot of fun with this one. Chill signaling mechanics and a very obedient good boy. corralling the sheep worked well, and the dog controls were just enough. Fantastic game jam entry, well done!

Twisted Pair by pfeyffer 2026-04-23T02:01:25Z

Excellent implementation of a classic tile game. Having the two parallel wires on each time was a good touch that I think elevated the game a lot. Well done getting music and sound effects in in the time frame, the game feels very polished. Well done!

Mini Mobile Network Operator by Stratcat66 2026-04-26T16:12:14Z

This was a fun take on the expanding city/network game. The generation of the city was impressive, I suspect it was not designed this way but the uncanny ability to expand to just outside of the range of my last tower was impressive! I could see spending a lot of time playing a future version of this game with some chill background music and a few more cues of where the problems were, panning around the city looking for that one red dot got hard as the city grew. Overall I think this game has a lot of promise and was well executed, well done!

edit: my best score was 243

Prospects by Bobap 2026-04-28T13:36:01Z

I enjoyed this one a lot. The speeder is fun to drive and the gameplay loop of scanning for and then homing in on resources was interesting. I did find it a bit unfortunate that once I found a spot I was best served by just sitting and waiting for collection to happen, especially as I didn't know how much I needed to collect in the first couple of runs. Not a feasible idea for a game jam, but I could see a minigame like one of those 'hit the zone when the moving line is over it' ones to get more minerals from that collection cycle being fun to stay involved with that part of the game. The art was nice, really felt like setting out into a wilderness to find the minerals, shout out as well to the scanner ping graphic, I liked that it seemed to not just be a perfect circle, it was a bit wobbly (or maybe it was just my eyes). Overall a fun game and a well polished game jam entry, well done!

Beat the signal by Avzgui 2026-04-28T13:48:20Z

Cool game concept and (mostly) well executed. Stylistically I thought the clean art with some effects worked well, and I especially liked the effect as my combo got higher, the accelerating stars in the background had an interesting optical illusion effect on the line making it look like it was stretching out toward the cursor that I thought was neat.

The gameplay was fine for the most part, but as I got further in it felt like there was a minimum delay between actions, some of the closely grouped hit points didn't trigger the second one, and with some experimenting I found that it would start to show the hit marker noticeably after I clicked. When there was just one to hit in a short distance I corrected for that (and as I started I actually thought the hit zones were very forgiving), but as they piled up it got hard to get it to register fast enough. (maybe that was lag in my browser as well, I don't see any other comments mentioning input delay)

Others have mentioned that the line didn't really line up with the music, but that didn't take me out of the game; the music was chill enough that I did not find myself trying to click on its beat and so it just provided a very nice background to the clicking timing.

Overall I think this game showed promise, although it did annoy me a bit when input delay broke my combos. As a game jam game it was excellent, well done!

I Contact by gamebuilder 2026-04-26T15:29:00Z

Stylistically knocked it out of the park! Your unique art style and well designed soundscape really set up the mood of the game perfectly. While the style of game is not one that I enjoy that much I could tell that it was well executed and I think you achieved the mood you were after. Overall really well done!

Echo Chaser by Verbante 2026-04-26T15:41:30Z

Very fun, I love the concept of an echolocation - based game and this is one of the best that I have had the pleasure to play. I think the 8-bit graphics style was excellent for communicating how the echos light up the world. I also really appreciated how the rippling lighting up of the world contributed to the soundscape, I think that added a lot to how immersing the navigation was. Fantastic game jam entry, well done!

edit: my completion time was 5:19

Rescue Signal by emrod 2026-04-26T15:53:46Z

Well executed. The game looks good and I thought that it was an interesting implementation of the theme. My only gripe was that it was a bit unclear when the beacons were considered close enough to count as extending the signal, a couple of my attempts to get my score down I thought I had them lined up but it didn't count it; leading to having to throw out a bunch more to nudge them into position. A little more visual feedback on that front and, as you had already mentioned, a few more levels and I could see myself spending a bunch of time in a game like this. Well done!

LoS: Linked by Theo Ratkin 2026-04-21T04:02:35Z

A more unwieldy space physics game I have never spent an hour beating (I didn't realize I could pick up multiple satellites for longer than I want to admit, I got good at backtracking my path). I loved the concept, building up a network of LOS connections was a fantastic idea for this jam's theme! Once I got a bit of a hang of moving the ship around it was a lot of fun to think about where the next satellite could go to get the best connectivity. It is very satisfying once you get a network set up to have a lot of freedom to go wherever you can without needing to worry as much about the connection.

I don't know if it was intentional, but the outer station on my map had an intermittent connection all the way through the field to the center, and I found having that indication of a direction to go motivating. Fantastic, chill, a little challenging but learnable, overall one of my favorite game jam games ever. Well done!

WaveForge by Enad96 2026-04-29T13:12:17Z

Cool application of a beam/light puzzle. The setting was fun for background, and the ramping up of puzzle mechanics felt just about right. Some of the goals weren't that clear from the text (what does "off > 100" mean?) but for the most part the puzzles could be completed by just focusing beams onto goals. I could see the potential for more complex puzzles rising from this pretty effectively.

The voicelines as I interacted with the puzzle pieces cracked me up, and the background music was great for the game.

Signal Tower by Jhonny111 2026-04-29T13:35:27Z

The gameplay loop is interesting, but I found it a little boring, a lot of the time is spent just waiting for waves to happen. Maybe if there was a manually fired gun on the platform to give me something to do during the waves? The upgrade system worked well and I felt like the trickle of materials was at about the right pace to be fun, although I would have liked more information on what the upgrades did. upgrading was mostly a "well upgrades are probably better, right?" rather than a decision based on anything. The models were well put together, I liked the variety of enemy ships, and the choice of background music felt perfectly epic for the defense mission. Overall a promising start, and a refreshingly different style of tower defense. Well Done!

DO THE THING! by Fredrik Andersson 2026-04-28T23:26:34Z

Very cute, great sounds and animation. I did not find the gameplay loop very interesting personally, finding it a bit too flail about randomly, but I think it was well-executed and certainly felt like you accomplished what you were going after. as a game jam game I thought this was excellent, well done!

Light of the Beacon by Sergey Kuznetsov 2026-04-23T01:51:38Z

Cool targeting system paired well with the card mechanics. I liked learning what the enemies would do to learn how to predict them. Overall a fun game, well done!

traceroute by wles 2026-04-21T03:10:48Z

I enjoyed this one, great design and use of the theme to go along with a fun puzzle game. The puzzle mechanics were fairly unique, I especially liked the changing of the playing field when the color of the node I connected to changed and the walls suddenly behaved differently. My only complaint for the puzzles is that, more so at the end than the beginning, there wasn't a lot to puzzle through, it was just a matter of lining up the obvious target. Overall I thought this was a lot of fun, well done!

Signal Rush by Pavel.Cherepanov 2026-04-23T01:55:05Z

Good start to a project, the style works well and the alignment with the theme is there. I can see the vision you had, there are always just a couple more mechanics that didn't make it, aren't there. Good effort, congratulations on getting something made!

Pulse by quietchili 2026-04-23T04:33:56Z

Very cool use of a sonar mechanic. It took until my second hard attempt to realize the cool mechanic that the enemies moved faster when I sent out a ping, once I caught on and started navigating more by memory I was able to beat it. awesome concept, well executed.
