Awesome idea :) But there's no challenge? I kept moving the window about, collected 25 icons but nothing ever changed but new random icons. What are the other 55 MB of the exe file used for? :P
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD58 → Windows Explorer 2

This is really, _really_ clever - it basically turns your desktop into a hidden item game. There's admittedly not a lot to it, but it's still impressive.
Interesting incremental clicker game, maybe it should start with the menu and an explanation what the power ups do (apart from help you collect more). I also only had 2 different backgrounds, with like 4 same icons showing up.
@endurion press Escape
@ellaris you should look around more :)
Very innovative idea! It's fun looking around for icons and gathering resources to upgrade your windows or add additional data siphons, fabricators etc. It's probably my favorite part of the game, leveling my favorite windows up (the BEST window is still steadily moving towards the 10000 points upgrade as I type). Super cool take on the theme, great job!
This is a very cool concept, I figure it will be more fun as you get further into the game but I was bored trying to find the icons after collecting the starting amount on each window. Otherwise great job :)
@torcade: (Facepalm) That's what I get for reading only one line per page :) Lovely :) WinAmp gave me bees!
It took me a while to realize there’s a menu and that you can explore different windows. I really love the concept but I couldn’t find any new areas to collect rarer items :(
Great idea! Dragging the window around feels great, and the game is well polished. Congrats!
What a fantastic, creative idea! I was very confused at the beginning because I had no windows open and didn't realize I could press Esc. Once I realized these things, the game really opened up. Things I would love: * What does upgrading a window do? I think it increases the frequency and rarity of icons, but I don't really know for sure. * What does a Fabricator do? I've bought so many and have no idea what they do. * Could there be some way to unlock knowledge like whether I've already discovered all the different types of window environments? I would love to know I don't have to open any more random programs in my computer. I still haven't collected two icons, but it's frustrating to not know whether I should be trying to find them by opening more programs or by trying to upgrade random windows and just luck into the solution. This was a lovely game to leave on in the background, and opening another program to find a new type of window was a rush of joy. I also found the godot icon when I opened godot. I have no idea whether this was intentional, but it was pretty cool.
Also I'm so thankful that when I accidentally closed the game and reopened it, all my progress was still there.
Fun idle clicker, though the early game drags its heels a bit and I still don't understand what the window upgrade does.
Again such a clever game. I love your "thinking outside the box" when you are making this kind of games. I would have loved some description for the upgrades you can buy. It's not really evident what they should do. Great work as usual
The collection process was a bit torturous. At first, I didn't know how to move, so I just zoned out, but I quickly learned. Then I collected over three hundred items, most of which were used for upgrades. This game is great for idle play! Not bad.
Really cool concept for a game hampered a little bit by the difficulty in figuring out what it wanted me to do. I think it may not play nicely with multiple monitors because after a lot of trial and error I finally figured out that the game only noticed some windows that were open on one of my monitors but showed its version of them when I dragged the window around on the other one. That compounded the amount of time it took me to figure out that different windows generated different environments and led to me spending a lot of time collecting low value icons. The upgrades are similarly unexplained, I think the data siphon was just passive income, but since it looked like it was trying to be bolted onto a window I couldn’t tell if it interacted with any other upgrades.
With all that said, I think this is a really cool game. The interaction with the windows I have open is not something I have seen before and if it had been overlaying properly with my environment I can see how awesome it would be to have a window that opens another world for my programs. A little more polish and explanation and I could see this being a fin game to have in the background for a lot of time.
Great job overall!
Nice game! Thanks for giving the source code for non-Windows users! Keep in mind that everyone plays quite a few games, so we would be glad if the source code was renamed to your game. Just a little thing, gave you 5 stars!
Since I had already seen such mechanics, there was no "wow" effect (considering that game was too good). And it seems to me that the initial prices are very, very high. But overall, it's great to have made such a game in 2 days!
I have seen a lot of "clicker" games but this is somewhere else!! Such a cool and inovative idea that works so well with the theme. I am stunned and amazed! Great job!!
Oh hey, I remember you from Windowkill. This is a similar sort of concept, simple yet ingenious. For a moment I was like "I wanna keep playing this but I have better things to do", but then I remembered that since it's an incremental idle game, I can just leave it running in the background while I do those other things - like typing this review, for example.
This might be one of those rare entries that I keep coming back to even after the jam itself has ended. Well done!
