Very fun! Loved it!
Interesting! Seems a bit like agar.io! Had a lot of fun running from the other creatures while observing them at the same time. Also love that there is friendly fire between the enemies :)
Very fun! I didn’t need to do the tutorial. Great music, characters and graphics!
Great game! The controls are a bit hard, but that’s what made it more random! Great job! I could see this on a web games website, with thousands of people playing it! Well done!
Nice! I wish we could zoom in though!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Love the hand drawing visuals and the short yet beautiful music. Funny concept! I wonder - did you or a child draw the picture? Thank you for your rating on my game!
Love it! Would recommend to others! Has great music, great mood and great feel, as I felt like an interplanetary marshall or the ruler of the home planet! The steering and commanding system is perfect with nothing more that I would want! Wish there was some random chance that on dangerous planets the cats get lost, but that would have been annoying! I managed to save all the cats.
Great design, great feel, OUTSTANDING music, nice grafics, nice 90’s feel - good job! After a while it got repetitive, but maybe because I was bad with the controls :)
Nice! Wish the dots were bigger, though, but still - very cool!
Great job! You can really see a whole team made this game! The graphics are great and the gameplay is very fun! Wish there were more bug species, but one was enough. I imagine a cartoon or TV show about Rex would be possible! He has a funny personality!
Great! Has a thematic feel (of annihilation), is fun to play, very customizable, three full levels. Honestly, I think you could go on to make some money with that game! Congratulations!!!
Great job! I loved sending the objects at the planets! Cool that you can destroy settlements and it counts as completed
Great job! I spent a lot of time on it and had a lot of fun!
Great game! Very fun, has a great feel and has great gameplay! Very well done!
Very fun! I love games where your minions collect resources! I did not know how to colonize other rooms though.
Very confusing at first, but then becomes fun! Great job! Were you inspired by the board game “Farmer”?
Great game, great visuals and great sounds! I wish there was a bug kill effect instead of them just disappearing, but I understand the time constraints.
My 2nd favorite game EVER! I will play this even after LD. GREAT JOB! Great intro, great feel, great graphics, great gameplay! Gives me StarCraft vibes and reminds me of science fiction stories that I used to write! Congratulations!
Very fun and time-consuming! Well done!
Hope you like it!
@unloosed I know and I tried to do that but each time a few things would be lacking. Will check out the tutorial though!
@unloosed How do I rate other games? I can rate some, but not others.
@Sviborg Thanks for the lovely comment! I know how to rate now. That person’s submission must not have been submitted on time…
@nimidori311 thank you, I appreciate your thoughtful comment!
@randumbtoons thank you for your comment, you just made my day better!
@unloosed it is finally a .exe file!!!
@andrewkennedy it is a .exe now!
@balimaarthebassfish is there a code provided (like “ERROR:EXIT_CODE:1”) or do you hear a mouse sound, the game pauses for a few seconds and you hear a squeak?
@balimaarthebassfish thank you for giving me those errors! I will try to fix them in the future. The game was a bit rushed due to exams (it was originally intended to have a storyline) and I did encounter the instance of a flea spawning on top of the rat. Thank you for your feedback, it will probably be fixed this weekend!
@sdcorpse thank you! I used the sound from a sound library and this was the most realistic one. The background is an edited AI-generated image (edited by me, so that it looks more realistic).
@thesand thank you for your appreciation! You guys make my days better with your comments! I will try to always reply to commenters like you :) it is my first LD and I expected to get 5 ratings and get ghosted in the comments. Glad that didn’t happen! I had 8 reviews and on Tuesday I turned the program into a .exe… now, with such a pace, I will reach 20 reviews tomorrow!
@calcopod I know, most games are in Godot or Unity. Thank you for your nice comment! When I played the game, I was also surprised by how fun it was compared to my previous thoughts. Glad you enjoyed it!
@thesand and @calcopod I played and reviewed your games in turn! @sviborg yours too!
@heiden-bzr thank you for your comment! I will have some free time tomorrow, so I might add that. Sorry for forgetting to tell you guys the controls! As for the background, I saw that the rat was hard to see myself, but I liked the background so I left it. I might make the rat white, so that it is more visible and white rats actually exist. Thank you for getting me past 20 reviews!
@zoglu the spot might not be safe anymore when more fleas spawn, one spawns per 1000 points and there are 60 points per seconds. I will check if the safe spot is always safe, but thank you for pointing it out! Also, thank you for getting me past 20 reviews!
@m1fex thank you for your nice comment! I made a new version of the game (hopefully better), but I don’t know if I can post it here as it was made after LD. Please tell me if I can do so!
Thank you @infinitye ! There is already a remake and will be a story mode!
@utopia thank you! I am glad you like it! I made another version where you only get points if you move: https://martingonn.itch.io/flea-or-flee-arcade-2
@utopia hope you’ll have fun playing it! If you habe any suggestions, please tell me!
@ellaris that is why I created Flea or Flee Arcade 2, where you only get points for moving!
@srisricactus thank you for the compliment! I am glad that my game is your favorite!
@ugly-robot thank you for your compliment! The music was supposed to be serious, but the other SFX were supposed to be funny :) I even made an update to it, will make an update in the future! I also coded some useful tools in python, but only one is published - a prime number finder.
@sasa-2010 thank you for your comment! I am glad you can enjoy such a little game so much!
@wouterk12 I plan on participating in future jams as I enjoy making my creations. I know about the safe spot, will hopefully fix them in future update. Right now I am busy making a Flea or Flee with a campaign of sorts. Thank you for your compliment!
@henk 1. I know, thank you for the tip with the temporary invincibility! I haven't thought of that. 2. Since this is a rat and not, for example, a rocket, it can move at a fixed speed. While on a walk - do you accelerate the longer you walk? I would think that quite the opposite happens. 3. Will add this option 4. I might try Godot or Unity in the future, but right now I package .py scripts into .exe's. Thank you for your tips!
@buianovavaleria I'm a single-person team, but I am currently making a new version of the game with a campaign.
Great job! Would be better if it had sound effects and/or music though. Also the creatures are VERY annoying to catch, but after some time I was able to get them. If you want to expand, maybe add more space and more creatures. Maybe even a new station? Once again, great job!
Great game, beautiful visuals, great music, great mood! I was trying my best not to get eaten because of how creepy the monsters were!
@arcadeeleven thank you for your appreciation! Congrats on getting on Steam too!
Cool. I had to figure out the rules myself though. Nice one!
Great idea and visuals AND music, but the controls were very annoying and I was unable to cut anything.
Interesting gameplay, but gets a bit repetitive after a while. Great drawing, great visuals, great feel! Looks like made by a very big game studio! Well done!
Great as a simulator! Nice graphics and sounds
When I play it on itch.io, I am an empty capsule in an untextured world. The thumbnail is really nice though. I think it loaded incorrectly rather than that you uploaded and empty game… Also, you ghosted all others that commented….
@kristallllllik it works now! Great game! You need more ratings, so post about the game! (You need at least 20 to pass)
Quite an interesting game and personal website alltogether! As an improvement, maybe you could add odds of reacting differently (like someone arguing that a magazine IS THE LAW), but that would be complex, right? Nevertheless, great job! Five stars.
I played the web version and how ever hard I tried I couldn’t pick up the artifact in the first room, I couldn’t interact with anything. Tried all the buttons I could think of. Did really like the automated managment system… but then couldn't proceed further in the game. I used the web version.
Nice game! Thanks for giving the source code for non-Windows users! Keep in mind that everyone plays quite a few games, so we would be glad if the source code was renamed to your game. Just a little thing, gave you 5 stars!
Well done! I liked your game, flew around the hoops and cawed a bunch! However, I had problems setting the game to fullscreen, as it would automatically capture my cursor when I selected its window. Is this intended or is it just me?
@daniel yes, the mouse focus did come back. Don't worry about it, just a little fix that you can do if you have the time!
Loved everything about this game, but the jump mechanics felt a bit weird and required some getting used to. Great job though!
Could you please give the source code so that I and other Linuxers can play your game? I have tried emulating the game and errors happen...
I would really appreciate the source code/Linux version so that I could test the game. Nevertheless, rated you positively in graphics.
Great game and graphics! Did you use a template from Github? I think I recognize the GUI and ship look, but you gave it a big remix! Well done!
Couldn't test the game due to being on Linux, but I've given you five stars on graphics and sounds!
Interesting game! Maybe you could have an option to tone down the gore though?
Love the aesthetic, music and themed stuff, that is why I gave you 5 stars there. Had fun in your NSA simulation. One request though - could you release the source code please?
Loved the game! It is simple, yet fun! Maybe you could add some harder-to-break blocks on the higher levels? Five stars.
@jk5000 the "crash" you are talking about was probably you running out of lives, as we have not made a death screen yet - instead, upon death, you see a brown screen that would be the same upon crashing. As for the game running poorly, a known stutter in performance happens when you render a new chunk - the characters are unanimated. The game was made on Compatibility mode, so maybe try that and please write back if you have any other problems!
@evil23 could you tell which version was laggy - ForwardPlus or Compatibility? That would really help a lot.
@johnstarich thank you for the thoughtful comment! I have experienced weird errors upon embedding, will retry fixing them though as it would be really helpful. As I mentioned to another user, the crashes might have been running out of lives as there is no death screen. The game was tested on Linux and Windows. Sorry for no scope, will add that in if I find a good sprite for it. Thank you for your tips!
@evil23 sorry for your experience - we tested the game on quite good specs, so it wasn't laggy. The mouse input problem is due to the glitch that you can't focus on the window with your cursor...
@b0guslaw I knew we wouldn't be able to fix the terrain blocking etc. in such a short time, so that is why the game is based on jumping around and that is why the jump is so high. Thank you for reviewing the game!
@5h08 reading the other reviews, I got to the same conclusion. This will be a template for next time so the engine will definitely be optimized. Did you try both forward+ and compatibility versions? We tested on compatibility. Thank you for both of your comments!
@mramaizng do you have any extentions that might have blocked the web version? As for performance, we will try to worki it out
@jin9310 yes, I have learned a lot since my last game was a 130 line python script. I hope to overcome the performance issues soon...
@ty-victorson thank you for your comment! The enemies are spawned in as you load new chunks (meaning one spawn per chunk). The game is intended to be based around jumping (so is the combat), but I understand it might be nausieating after a while. The stutter upon spawning enemies is known and the best we can do is minimize it, as no matter what we do, spawning enemies will still use up more memory than other actions.
@daniel thank you for testing both! I did not know that a game can have different performance in-editor vs when compiled, that's a new one for me!
