Love the song, just vibing playing my characters. Took me a while to figure out that cheap cards dont do much. So, its the expensive cards you should save up for even if it means losing something. Wish the game was going faster. Saving up to play Miku takes a bit too long.

ggross 2024-10-08 01:36

The bgm is cool! I like this game's concept. The movement of tiny creatures is slow, hope the game can be faster :)

silverash 2024-10-08 03:38

I got a miku at the first round and I summoned it at 10 cost. Then it's simple to beat the opponent! Also the 4 cost bear is very strong. Would you consider adding some deck-building to the game?

ember44 2024-10-08 04:05

The pausing between rounds really threw me off, especially since I had to scroll back down to see the "Next Round" button every time. I also really wish the creatures had art when I placed them, since it was easy to lose track of which squares were supposed to be what card (this also meant I didn't feel much strategy in what I was placing down, because it was hard to tell what was working).

Overall solid game, the card art is good & music is great, just wish the gameplay was more engaging. It'd be really cool if there was some system of counters where different cards are better into different minions the enemy sends at you.

thenbcorpse 2024-10-08 06:23

The art and music are both absolutely fantastic, they both feel extremely polished. I really like how the music goes quieter during the card choosing phase, it indicates the phase change quite well.

Screenshot 2024-10-08 005514.png

Managed to beat it second try, after the first attempt it was pretty easy to figure out what each card does and what it's good for. Personally I don't mind the slower pace of the combat, it makes it easy to analyze how the battles are going. With a few new features to add more gameplay length I could easily see this being a game I'd play regularly on my phone, the randomness and card variety makes it extremely fun.

fleur 2024-10-08 16:05

Cute little game, I had a little bit of a hard time understanding it at first but once you get the grip of it it's cool! I love the art on the cards, really cute! I wish the gameplay was a bit more engaging but it works well and it's fun ^^ Good job!!

lou-tremolieres 2024-10-08 16:34

Very cute game, love the art style and the music ! The kind of game I'd love to battle friends in, great job !

joror 2024-10-08 16:40

Those were indeed some tiny tiny creatures! šŸ” Game was pretty straightforward - was hard to understand what my opponent was sending in tho. Fun lil pewpews~

grizeldi 2024-10-08 19:17

The music is a bop! I loved how it filters down when the game pauses so I can place cards on the field and then resumes once the game continues.

Not a big fan of the gameplay though - my minions kept going backwards trying to chase enemies that they had no hope of catching before the enemy minions would reach my base.

lolhopen 2024-10-09 03:34

I liked your game! I got the impression that player's units are overall more powerful than enemy's, because it was hard for them to even get to my towers. Art and music are cute, though SFX was balanced to the right channel and I had to turn it off

dgspitzer 2024-10-09 04:05

Miku game!! Definitely going to play!

arenavgust 2024-10-09 04:23

Music is so nice! In a start i cant understood what i need to do BUT at the end i have fun. Game is so good

gametrodon 2024-10-09 04:59

Hey, so as someone who isn't a Miku fan, it would have been helpful to know more about what the cards did, either on the card, or somewhere else. It took me quite a while to figure out that the Lama and Lemon are ranged units.

It would also be nice to be able to tell what enemy units were, the only thing I had to go off of was that bigger units were better.

It was fun, but I think I would have had a better time if I'd been able to figure out a stronger strategy and knew more about the units I was using.

aentro 2024-10-09 05:05

The music and the art design of cards established a good mood. I enjoy it. Some advice: A speed control button and a more detailed explanation of each card.

rsheepdv 2024-10-09 05:06

Miku game miku game! A pretty simple game but the card art was fun! Hamster absolutely dominates, my strategy devolved into throwing random stuff until I had hamsters to use.

Screenshot 2024-10-08 220606.png

svenerik 2024-10-09 05:28

Simple & fun, a good jam game~! The start got me a bit confused is the only big irk, a better "how-to" would have helped, but it's alrighty for a jam to miss that~

a-priori 2024-10-09 05:29

Fun game! I don't have much to say that others haven't already, but I second that there should be an option to speed up the waves.

tsukigan 2024-10-09 06:25

Hi! Amazing Miku! I will be honest: - Want to see tutorial in game - Would be amazing to add increase game speed button - I dont understand squares on field - Bg music cool - Pause game on new wave - is great choose!

cliva 2024-10-09 11:19

изображение_2024-10-09_141741869.png The pause during mana acquisition seems a bit unnecessary to me. The lemon in the T-pose is too cool! It seems this music will stay in my head forever, it sounds wonderful.

chaimello 2024-10-09 16:17

Miku game. very cute. I love Miku, my queen. I saw that on your itch page you commented to someone that you'll add more instructions in future iterations, which I think is a good idea. It can be a bit confusing at the start, but makes sense as you go. (Also I like the little addition of clicking the hearts!)

imagicaine 2024-10-09 16:19

It was so intuitive and easy to vibe-in! And that lemon was so cool! Wow, great job.

martingonn 2024-10-09 16:29

Nice! Wish the dots were bigger, though, but still - very cool!

thyoi 2024-10-09 16:56

Nice game! draw you a miku

miku2.png

gaalsien 2024-10-09 17:06

Great game! I've had a lot of fun playing for a few rounds!

cluster7ck 2024-10-09 19:19

Very cool game and great music. Would definitely play this as a fully featured game

kyoryucomic 2024-10-09 19:31

love how you put miku here, interesting gameplay but it was very slow, i like how the music gets muffled during selection rounds

mechazawa 2024-10-09 19:54

I really like the concept, something like this with deck building mechanics and effect cards would be amazing. The only criticism I have is that it was unclear to me what the speed rating was and how many would spawn per card

noah-mazard 2024-10-09 20:23

Very cool game, I whish the characters were not squares when you have such beautiful cards.

lizz 2024-10-10 03:53

I agree with Noah, the little ones are missing a bit of attention in my opinion. The music is fun, I myself am not too into this type of game tho the concept was cool.

kultuk 2024-10-10 05:21

Really good work! Love the music and SFX!

As other people said, would've been awesome if the minions had a bit more character, but I assume it's because of the time crunch šŸ˜…

Could see this as a full game.

keithswanger 2024-10-10 06:23

2024_10_10_0213_Discord_VFnULLOFFD.png

Fun! I got so attached to my tiny squares. I forget what card it was, but you can see in the screenshot, I won when one of my tiny lil buds got past the enemies and finished off the last quarter of a heart of the boss with a bunch of enemies honing in on them. A cinematic ending!

igor-korobeinikov 2024-10-10 07:07

Good one guys! Had fun playing your game, though it wan't fully clear from the beggining, what mean all the parameters and numbers. Good job

tarisma 2024-10-10 07:52

Of course it makes me want to play it when I see Miku, but it was really fun ! I finished it and even tho it's a bit slow, fun is still at the rendez-vous ! Art is really nice too (didn't had sound) but I could still vibe with the game, awesome job !

4tr33 2024-10-10 11:25

Great Hatsune Miku Game! Minions have some strategic depth, and it would be even better if there were more distinct styles instead of just blocks!

robot 2024-10-10 18:38

Nice and fun game. A little bit confusing in the beginning, could not figure out when troops attack other lane and what the right number on the card means. Love the graphics and the soundtrack. Very nice game, had fun playing it!

gerrit 2024-10-10 18:39

Very cool game! Music is a banger!

erasemenot 2024-10-10 19:49

Good game! But you can speed it up a few times.

karamelika22 2024-10-10 22:10

I really liked the idea of the game and the art in it, and the music is just great. Great game, well done))

frozenfire92 2024-10-11 00:14

This was a ton of fun, had great vibes, and quite in depth with the strategy. If you continued it I think there is potential here  Keep on making games!

crimoudin 2024-10-11 02:07

Very fun game.

moonlightbomber 2024-10-11 02:20

Never in my wildest dreams would I encounter a Miku-themed LD game. I hope that for the full release, you will receive Crypton's blessing.

aegisfate 2024-10-11 06:00

No one can resist Miku! As someone who has attended Magical Mirai in Japan several times, I was really surprised to see a Miku-themed game on LD. Maybe it would be better if the summoned cards were also VOCALOID characters (although it might deviate from the theme a bit). Also, the web version embedded in the LD page doesn’t work and shows the error ā€˜Failed to read the ā€˜serviceWorker’ property from ā€˜Navigator’: Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the ā€˜allow-same-origin’ flag.’ It works fine on itch.io though

flyingkaida 2024-10-11 13:57

Great game! Sadly there was that bit of audio issues in all my browsers. Likely just a browser issue of my pc issue. For it worked perfectly on my tablet and I was able to get the entire vibe of the game. And to reiterate... IT WORKED ON MY TABLET! I got myself a new "playing while waiting in the dentist office" game! Gonna save the link on there. Thanks for the great bops, Hatsune! Wonderful entry!

Only things I want to suggest, I had very little idea what the numbers meant. Heart I assumed was hp? The starburst.... damage? But then there's also speed and ai (whether they'd fight everything or try to run by). But I think my biggest thing... some way to know which units where yours and which were the enemies.

But overall, great entry, thanks!

rascar-capac 2024-10-11 14:37

Noooo I wanted more than 3 rounds :'( I like it so much, that big arena is so exciting! Some ideas on top of my head in case you want to keep working on it (I'm sure you already thought about most of them): - more visible stats: speed, units count, attack spread, attack range, attack rate... - maybe a stat that defines their behaviour when encountering enemies: "I don't care, just going for the towers", "I don't care about the other lanes", "Oh that guy is on the other side of the map? Don't worry, lemme take care of that", "I'll stay around my tower, don’t worry guys, you can go without me",... - deck building feature

dywanix 2024-10-11 20:02

So enjoyable game! I would love to play it even longer

str8griz 2024-10-12 06:15

Really great game! I got stuck right at the end where my units wouldn't attack the creatures attacking my base but played for a solid 719 creatures! Loved the way you focused the art on the UI and made the game play simple!

phthallo 2024-10-12 12:03

Funny game! But since the creatures were all just pixels but different from your own, I couldn't really understand the enemy types, except for the big red ones, so i focused more on my own combos, then countering the enemy. Had a lot of fun nonetheless! The Music was awesome.

vipaka 2024-10-12 19:30

What a nice idea! This reminded me of Plants vs Zombies with the lanes and creative take on tower defense mechanics. I enjoyed the music the most!

andreia 2024-10-12 22:54

This was really fun to play! I loved the high level view and the little dots as the creatures. It could be expanded to a full game especially with improving on some feedback - would be nice if it was more clear how long is left for a wave so the breaks aren't so jarring, and also more clear that the blue numbers are mana. The blue hearts I wasn't sure what they were. And I would love to see the animals as little sprites/3d character. The game is really fun, great work!

wendel-scardua 2024-10-13 00:55

I lost during the 3rd round, but had fun anyway. I saw people commenting that they wanted to see the creatures on the field but I actually liked the tiny squares :) But I did wish there was some kind of animation or something showing the cards the enemy used before their units appeared on the field, so we may learn what their tiny squares represent.

plasmapuffs 2024-10-13 03:45

Nice, I really like the idea behind this game! Is it just me or sometimes the game just freezes (on itch.io)? Good job though, I could see the potential from the gameplay!

dgspitzer 2024-10-13 05:19

I'm a simple man, I saw a Miku, I give a comment here. PS: the corn sniper is super useful

conor-wilson 2024-10-13 05:45

Fun concept, executed really well! Feels like the sort of game that you could accidentally sink like 5 hours into while chatting with your friends :)

senso 2024-10-13 06:22

🌽 sniper is a game changer . Cool auto battler you put together. Art is awesome like always. Music fade is Dutch a great way to do the turn indicator. Like that even that you win a game you want to play again. Great entry.

ategon 2024-10-13 18:00

Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! If you wanted to watch it again in the future heres a vod of the stream (timestamped to your game)

Also Wanted to ask if youre fine with me using gameplay + music from the game in this LDs [score chasers tournament](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/$405421/ludum-dare-score-chasers-qualification-begins) intermission video. (Would play in the breaks of the tournament on my stream). Last year for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuddhZScWxo

Thanks for streaming us! Please feel free to use our gameplay+music.

euler-moises 2024-10-13 22:55

Really cool game!

With some improvements in the battle graphics (battlefield, enemies, etc.), it will be a really good game!

The music and SFX are really good. Something good for field battles and without that medieval characteristic that most battle music has.

I can already see it on Steam or something like that.

Congratulations!

coltonphillips 2024-10-14 22:36

Thanks for making this game. Seems like a loving fan tribute. I really liked the card art, and it seems to match Miku art style correctly.

dabuliaoyidianer 2024-10-15 19:05

I love Miku!Good Game!

royur 2024-10-15 20:49

very good. play this for hours. love miku ♄

fungame333.PNG

nrankin13 2024-10-15 22:43

The backing track is groovy, man. The creatures are cute, and the sound effects are good. It feels like the deck is a little stacked -- I got very, very few 1-2 cost cards for the entire run, which made defense really difficult. Overall, though, great job!

coleslaughter 2024-10-17 04:25

This was a novel little idea! My personal favorite minion was the glass cannon Lemon Terminator :sunglasses:

I would've liked to see a bit more info about the cards before I played them (Size, move speed, attack range, etc.), but I can't say off the top of my head how you would go about explaining that information without the UI getting cluttered.

Overall, nice job!

scrapmetal 2024-10-17 09:17

Nice! You went for the 'tiniest' creatures! :spy: lol. Took me a sec to figure out how to play, but it's intuitive enough, I caught on pretty quick! I love the sound effects!!

she-wrote 2024-10-17 15:06

This game is so much fun!! The Miku, Vocaloid vibe is quite unique, especially for a Ludum Dare. And I like the idea that she has pets, it somehow adds to her already astronomical cuteness. Gameplay-wise, I love how unique it is. The cards have good art, but the simplicity of using squares to demonstrate the battle clashes a bit with the vibe of the rest. However, even as squares, they do a great job of expressing the strength, and the creature they are supposed to be, and the sound helps associate them with the cards. Also, the Miku card is the CUTEST THING EVER!! And overall, it’s super fun, And the quality of being fun takes precedence over everything else!

john-wuller 2024-10-18 02:25

This had some great music! I love how it's constantly playing in the background instead of restarting when you quit and come back to the game. I also like how it fades in and out depending on what stage you're in. My main complaint is that I didn't understand the stats (and still maybe don't). In addition, my fighters would often chase people faster than them who they could never catch. The bear is OP!

douuggggg 2024-10-18 09:55

Fun game, well done, really well implemented for a jam! Came here after reading up your excellent behind-the-scenes devlogs.

A couple of notes: - There seems to be an issue with the audio - could be my side, but it would often speed up and slow down, which led to a lot of artefacts and distortion. - There could be better designed UI and battlefield units to match the high-quality artwork - the discrepancy between the two styles is a little off-putting - I had units following enemies all the way back to my side of the board, and sometimes would ignore enemies entirely - The balance of units was a bit confusing to me - there was a 3-cost for a 15/2, and a 4 cost for a 2/2. Sometimes they would play with multiple unit spawns and sometimes not!

I hope these notes help you improve the game and I hope you guys continue to work on it! Thanks for making it

uniowl 2024-10-18 23:11

IS THAT HATSUNE MIKU???

Very cool gameplay, I liked it. Also cool theme fading in-between rounds. I will add a couple of notes as well: - While I understood health and attack icons, there's no information on quantity of minions within a card. Hard to tell what is more useful based just on those two stats. - Some of the units will spawn ahead and some just near the white square. With that it is hard to defend it because those far ahead will ignore attackers. - Idk how did you managed to pick each new card (plain random pick or smth else). While it is not neccesarily bad, it would be nice to feel more "fair" picks. For example, playing with weights or using some techniques like shuffle bag. There was a moment where I got almost every time cats only but soon after I got two Miku cards. - Miku card is almost too OP. But not because it has a lot of damage and health. It beats every enemy 1v1, because they just can't attack because of Miku's high range. - Also because of that mix of styles, white squares are looking like blank sprites to me tbh. Just an observation idk. - For some reason, Web version on ldjam.com failed to load on my browser (Arc, chromium-based browser). Itch is just fine. I had troubles with ldjam site myself.

Very well done anyway! Great entry!

knatt 2024-10-19 14:37

I have to say that the music was really well done, I like the clarity that it gives when the timer for the round is up. It's a cute game.

brain-siege-gameworks 2024-10-19 16:17

It's a nice little game. I think it could benefit from a post Ludum Dare version to expand upon it.

empyreans 2024-10-21 00:40

Had a great time playing your game on stream! Curious where you might take it next :)

Definitely my first time seeing Miku in a game jam but I'm totally here for it! šŸ˜‚

yanato 2024-10-24 22:07

Will be good to add story and endless mode and upgrades andd AH pretty game, very attractive!

parzivalvulpine 2024-10-25 01:44

A Miku game this good and fun was a treat to find in this jam, no wonder you guys are on the top! I looooove what you all did with the game play, its straight forward yet it has depth in strategy, brilliant!

ceasiumzmj 2024-10-25 06:05

The creatures are too small and hard to see them. It's better for me to organize if I can know how my minions attack.

aurailus 2024-10-25 08:16

This is a cool game! I liked the music, and the gameplay was fun. Played through a whole round. Great job!

cataclysmicknight 2024-10-25 18:27

I had a hard time understanding how to play this, but as I kinda figured it out, I started to enjoy it (even though I kept getting my butt kicked lol). Well done!

PS: I never expected lil rectangles to be so cute but somehow you pulled it off lol

jcbeaureg 2024-10-25 21:36

Fun game and very polished all around, loved the art and sound! I can see this being very addicting too, usually I'm terrible at these kind of games but managed to win first attempt!

ukulelefury 2024-10-25 22:40

:) This was a lot of fun! Who needs more than rectangles and simple particles!
