LD51 — Every 10 seconds

You've Got Mail! by Sheepolution 2022-10-05T16:10:29Z

The game seems like it'll be fun, but when I tried running it in Windows 11, the reply buttons didn't show up and the timer didn't seem to count down. Also, it tried to access the internet for some reason (an immediate red flag in my book). Let me know if you fix it so I can try it out.

WallBreaker by maskinmask 2022-10-17T03:30:51Z

I liked the concept of the game. The art and sound design were also amazing. Top score for those categories!

It just felt like the game was completely out of my control. I couldn't find any way to manipulate what resources I was getting, so there wasn't much I could do most of the time.

I think I mistakenly got the "Government win" screen even though I only lasted 9 days, but I could be wrong.

I also wish I didn't have to right click to deselect a character, but I'm sure that was because of time constraints. You also left the `LD51_BurstDebugInformation_DoNotShip` folder in the zip file. I wish it was a normal zip file (it's more convenient for me), but I already had 7zip installed, so that wasn't a huge deal.

Overall, great art and sound design, just some more polishing and more ways to interact were needed.

Junkyard Space Race by BoxedMeatRevolution 2022-10-04T02:32:28Z

This game is amazing! I loved watching the robots just meander their way across the level with the wacky music in the background. There is something just so satisfying about that. My only concern is that I couldn't figure out what button to click when I first started the game up, and I accidentally pressed the spacebar, causing me to start a race without upgrades. Beyond that (which could have been user error), this is a fantastic game!

Quick to Judge by axelrinaldo 2022-10-15T02:51:17Z

This game and the cases are hilarious, but I couldn't figure out what was going on enough to actually judge most of the cases. I love the concept, but I feel like some tweaks to make it easier to play would be helpful.

Also, a bug report - if you keep clicking the same punishment while the "next case" button is showing up, you can win while only dealing with one case :)

The decasecond by Shakedimus 2022-10-11T06:23:08Z

I love that link you posted (https://www.omnicalculator.com/everyday-life/every-second). Combine that with https://www.themeasureofthings.com/ to end up with some interesting results!

escape by mikouaji 2022-10-20T15:58:52Z

Great audio and visuals! I also like how the damage you receive when you hit a wall is based on how fast you are going.

I couldn't get very far without dying (37648 was my record). It seems like the world rotates every 10 seconds, but I could rarely survive long enough for that to effect me. It felt like there was too much acceleration and I couldn't stop crashing into walls. Also, it looks like sometime you keep your acceleration when you die - if you're going fast as you die, you'll respawn going fastish.

I found the best strategy to be tapping forward and moving forward more slowly for better control of the ship.

Good game overall!

Cadet Set Go by MrWarranty 2022-10-05T13:46:43Z

I liked the game, but like everyone else is saying, lack of audio was a big downer for me (even though it was a compo). Even though a touchscreen made the game easier, I still wasn't able to get past the 5th or so level. It was a very creative use of the theme, and the game was challenging!

Sleight of Hand by elosociu 2022-10-07T22:21:41Z

I loved the art! The game looks incredible! My main problem is that 10 seconds was not enough time to 1) figure out what cards I had; 2) remember what each did, and 3) assess what my opponent did; 4) figure out how to respond. Some sounds would have also been nice. Sites like https://opengameart.org/ have free sound effects and music you can use for your games. It's a great concept for a game! Good luck!

Downpour by chris1919 2022-10-15T04:10:44Z

Great polished game! I kinda had a sneak peek from watching a few other streamers play this game, and it is incredible! The sound effects are polished and the level design is top-notch. It feels like y'all came up with a concept (the wind blowing, for example, every 10 seconds) and then came up with ways to play with it (speeding up the wind's arrival to zig-zag thru spikes). The pixel art was also fantastic, and told the story very well. I put it on in the background while playing and heard my character falling asleep, so that was a nice touch!

My main complaint is that I wish the timer would reset when I get a checkpoint. This only happened once or twice, but I died after reaching a checkpoint because I only had 5 seconds to complete the next part. Also, it's great that y'all have a sound slider, but it'd be nice if there were clicks of some kind to demonstrate the volume as you drag it. Otherwise, I don't know how loud a 10% coming thru my headphones is compared to an 80%.

Other than that, fantastic work!

Cuteness Overload by bamfux 2022-10-05T15:45:44Z

The game is fun, but unfortunately doesn't have any stakes. If you could die, that'd give you more of an incentive to change up your strategy, but right now, it's just move around and shoot. The art style is great, but I couldn't rate based on that for some reason. It could definitely use a bit of work and polish (in addition to connecting to the theme), but the idea is great!

RogueDungeon: A Deck Builder by thedude3600 2022-10-04T02:10:14Z

I love the concept of this game! The concept is one I never would have thought of, but which makes total sense. If you added some more unique cards, a way to scrap cards from your deck, an easier way to select your cards (you could press the numbers 1-5 to add cards to the queue more quickly than with keyboard and mouse), and some better graphics, I think this game could be amazing!

A Messed Up Elephant And Some Mean Racoons by ElmoEinstein 2022-10-05T15:51:06Z

Very good use of the theme!

Just one note. From the rules: > You’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created, but we ask that you OPT-OUT of the respected voting categories (Graphics, Audio). You can opt-out of a voting category when you submit your game.

The game is fun tho and pretty challenging! I got a final score of 24.

Tile Crawler by Ruben Christoffer 2022-10-15T03:18:36Z

Great game overall.

The hitboxes were for my attacks were insane! I didn't have to be close to the enemies to destroy them!

I really liked the sound effects you implemented along with the art style you choose.

I couldn't understand the concept at first because I didn't realize that the decorations on the rocks were arrows. I brushed over them as decoration. I only figured that out by reading other comments.

I got to level 11, but I got nowhere close do dying. The game seemed too easy imho.

Great game! It was fun once I understood what to do!

10seconds by xhz636 2022-10-07T22:43:10Z

This game is incredible! Great job slowly building up the mechanics and making us use them in interesting ways. The later puzzles are tricky, but they're all tricky in a good way (except level 9, which I feel like I got thru thru sheer luck). I especially like what you did with the last level. My main challenge (especially with level 9) is that it feels unintuitive to move two spaces rather than just one with every key press (though that's just something to get used to). It'd also be nice to have some sort of background music or ambience. Finally, I wish the arrow keys could be used to move rather than just WASD. Incredible puzzle game with very well-designed puzzles!

LD52 — Harvest

Furious Farm: Total Reap-Out by TRASEVOL_DOG 2023-01-09T22:21:29Z

I really liked the game! Here's my feedback: - Incredible music! - The tally screen between rounds was *really* slow; - When I pressed the tab button (including between rounds), I saw some debugging info. That probably wasn't intended to make it out of the dev team lol - The game was too easy - I liked how in the second-to-last round, molitovs seemed to be much more common - You can drive off the edge of the field

Great game! Definitely saving this to play again later!

Space Harvester by Cobear25 2023-01-10T03:50:19Z

This game is a blast! I (unironically) loved flying around, spamming the spacebar, and collecting wheat!

My main problem is that due to getting lost, I stayed completely scrolled out to see the entire map, but this took away the any sense of surprise. It took away some of the fun of flying around and getting lost. I wish there were some indicator when scrolled in of where the mothership was.

I also realized - I don't think you destroy any lasers that miss. After I died one game and respawned, I saw a line of lasers I had fired last game shooting off into the distance. After a few games, the page became unresponsive and crashed. Taking a quick look at your code, I'm not sure what's causing this, as [the prefabs are destroyed when they become invisible](https://github.com/cobear25/Space-Harvester/blob/main/Assets/Bullet.cs#L19-L22):

```csharp private void OnBecameInvisible() { Destroy(gameObject); } ```
I may look into this more later if I have time.
All in all, fantastic game, like seriously. The sound, particle effects, and everything comes together so well. It's been added to a private collection I have of my favorite game jam games!
Harvey D. Bones by Flying Dog Fish 2023-01-10T03:14:10Z
I really liked the graphics - the combination of the 3d walls and the 2d sprites worked really well for me!
Grub Grab by ComicSans 2023-01-10T03:23:33Z
The gameplay was fun. I played on mobile, then on desktop, and I think desktop controls were easier/more intuitive, even if the graphics suffered. It kinda got repetitive after a while and the difficulty didn't seem to change noticeably. Good game, and amazing music!
No th ebees again 100 times by pixelcrustpunk 2023-01-10T03:03:33Z
Interesting take on the normal Pong mechanics!
Operation Carrotfield by archfan7411 2023-01-09T20:29:23Z
Now that I understand what's going on, this game is pretty fun! I didn't realize that you could reposition the rabbits between rounds or that you were spending carrots. Now that I understand that, however, the game makes a whole lot more sense. It's very fun! Also the music is superb!
7 days to harvest by fallcresthero 2023-01-10T04:13:37Z
Incredible game! I'd rate this super high if I could.
7 days to harvest by fallcresthero 2023-01-10T17:49:40Z
@silentphil I'm not sure - ratings weren't showing up for me. Now that they are, you're getting a good rating!
Click On Fish by Pomo 2023-01-11T17:50:35Z
The voice acting is hilarious!
Inked Garden by Haotian Chen 2023-01-10T04:03:02Z
Fun game! It ended up feeling a little repetitive and one or two other attacks could have helped with that. I liked the small details in animating (different jumping, falling, and other animations).
I've found [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFsJIrm2btU) to be really helpful in designing platformer controls - it gives a lot of helpful tips on how to make platformers feel a little more fluid. Especially since you're just starting out, this video could be helpful!
Really good job and well-polished game especially for only your second game!
Inked Garden by Haotian Chen 2023-01-10T05:03:42Z
The main thing I noticed was that the coyote time felt a bit short. It would have been nice if it were a bit longer. It's really good tho if you already knew about these things - even if it's only your second game, it sounds like you've got plenty of game knowledge then!
Techno Plants by morpheyz 2023-01-09T22:32:28Z
Really great game! I didn't find it repetitive - just frustrating when I got a split second off beat and then missed like 10 beats in a row :stuck_out_tongue:.
I'm not quite sure what caused it, but somehow, I ended up in the same space as or next to an earthworm and I lost all my nutrients immediately.
Besides that one small bug, incredible game and music!
THE REVERSE CARD: Harvest the ladybug! by Acehunter 2023-01-11T17:45:00Z
Nice game! I do think the menu buttons are backwards, but it works great besides that!
@kikiriki367 Ah, that makes sense :)
LD56 — Tiny Creatures
Apple Snake by johnbrynte 2024-10-16T22:56:20Z
Fun concept for a game. I didn't realize there was gravity at first, but once I picked up on that, it was fun to play. I wish there were more effects (sound, visual, etc.) as you chomp and grow, but great game nonetheless
Paawns by Ace17 2024-10-16T23:01:39Z
It's a fun game! Cool job with a custom engine! I just sent everyone at my opponents' ranged guys, then picked off their guys from behind the scenes. Good job!
Tic Tac Trillion by Levi 2024-10-16T22:47:53Z
It's nice, but I didn't really know what was going on or how to score. Sometimes my lines would disappear for seemingly no reason. I didn't really understand what the various movements were. I also don't quite understand how it fits the theme. It's fun to see a multiplayer game with optional 1p - that's rather unique!
TinySim by JPatrick 2024-10-17T00:05:30Z
This is a cool life sim! While I don't know if I'd necessarily call it a "game", it's a very interesting study!
Flea Patrol by Sviborg 2024-10-16T22:35:45Z
I love the concept of this game! The art style is pretty unique, too. I didn't like the unresponsive controls. I get that that's the point, and I get that the fleas being hard to control is the point, but it was still annoying. Sometimes, the dog's hitbox was too high and I'd slide right past him on on the ground. This frustrated me quite a few times on the level with two sawblades on the ground where if you run straight right, you die. I'd make it to the dog, but then slide past him and not score for those fleas. Overall, cool concept and good game!
A Bug's Wife by Aurailus 2024-10-23T03:07:50Z
Yippie! This was a fun game. I'm not sure what I think of the rotating 3d surface - I either like it or I don't, and I can't decide which. Ultimately, however, it's subtle, and the game looks amazing!
Ladybug's Underworld by Dekajoo 2024-10-16T23:22:54Z
Interesting fun game with a cool atmosphere! I'm not much of a metroidvania fan, but this was fun! Great job!
Miku's Minion Madness by Miku 2024-10-18T02:25:34Z
This had some great music! I love how it's constantly playing in the background instead of restarting when you quit and come back to the game. I also like how it fades in and out depending on what stage you're in. My main complaint is that I didn't understand the stats (and still maybe don't). In addition, my fighters would often chase people faster than them who they could never catch. The bear is OP!
tiny Accident by Rito 2024-10-16T23:56:24Z
It was a fun game. The camera effect was cool, but i feel like it was a bit overdone in the maze part. Cool game!
For some reason, I can't rate it on ldjam.
The Governor's Will by chusmimax 2024-10-16T23:51:20Z
This was a fun game! I'm still not 100% sure how I won (I guess by surviving), but yay! Great music and art. I wish it was a bit more challenging - once I had like 10 trebuchets set up, there was now way I was going to lose. I also loved the closing cutscene. Great job!
Window Creatures by Ategon 2024-10-16T23:40:08Z
This is a really great farming sim game! I love how you use the page's windows!
nothing by belron 2024-10-16T23:05:15Z
Nice not-nothing game! I think I got kicked after a few rounds, but it was neat
Critter Catchers by dinobobbo 2024-10-16T23:14:26Z
Fun concept, but it seems like you need more than one person to play. The concept reminded me a lot of Panoptic. It's a fun game if you have more than one person!
Hexoban by PlasmaPuffs 2024-10-19T18:30:36Z
This is a very well-made, polished game!I love the music and the sound effects!
When I started playing, I had my dark mode extension on. It gives it a different feel, but it still looks good if you don't go in thinking it's inverted dark mode. I think I prefer the darker color of the honeycomb there, but I could just be biased towards what I saw at first.
