Nice Game!

doot 2022-10-06 21:20

Cool small text based game. There are a lot of funny sentences in there haha! I guess UI could be reworked to look better, but it works as is!

digitaldude555 2022-10-06 22:11

Very unique game, probably most unique one I've tried so far. I agree on reworking the UI a bit to be more presentable, otherwise quite innovative and a good take on the theme.

shakedimus 2022-10-06 22:14

Thanks for the feedback @digitaldude555 what was the username you used? Because I see you voted on some jokes. But I can't see your entries in the leaderboard. I want to check if this is a bug.

zungryware 2022-10-07 02:58

One of the most unique takes on the theme that I've seen. Reminds me of Jackbox style games. I'm never very good at those since I can never beat the people who just type "dick farts" as all of their answers. (How do those guys manage to be so witty?) So I appreciated the lack of a timer.

A confirmation prompt would be nice. The apostrophe key is right next to the enter key and it's really easy to accidentally send your response before you

shakedimus 2022-10-07 08:08

@zungryware yes good point , that's very annoying when you just thought of a zinger and hit the enter key accidentally halfway. And the "dick farts" thing is so true :p

shakedimus 2022-10-07 08:28

@zungryware the same question what was the username you used? Because I see you voted on some jokes. But I can’t see your entries in the leaderboard. I want to check if this is a bug. If I play again my entries show up. very strange

zungryware 2022-10-07 08:54

@shakedimus I did use the same username, yeah. Maybe I'll play again and re-enter them.

shakedimus 2022-10-07 09:00

@zungryware hmm strange, what operating system are you using and what browser? Your name is not appearing.

shakedimus 2022-10-07 09:02

@zungryware did you see the answers other people gave?

zungryware 2022-10-07 09:26

@shakedimus I think it was because I did not quite complete all of the questions. I figured you were just supposed to go until you felt you had answered enough. Does it only submit your answers when you finish?

shakedimus 2022-10-07 09:31

@zungryware maybe I will check. You can press esc to quit nicely but I should fix this ! Thanks for the help!

shakedimus 2022-10-07 10:39

@zungryware thanks again I fixed it. BTW I has some laughing out loud moments with your comments :D Can I use them as examples ?? imperialsystemjoke.pngmechanicJoke.pngrhinoBrowserJoke.png

What a great idea! This is meta, this is cool!

Did you know that every 10 seconds someone enjoys your game?

michaelaranda 2022-10-07 14:01

Good job on coming up with quite a unique take on the theme!

r3l0ad1 2022-10-07 15:33

Fun idea :)

mikkyti 2022-10-07 17:29

that is interesting idea for the game))

winter2277 2022-10-08 05:09

Interesting meta idea!

Some tip for better UX: Pick an input method and be consistent with it. Is this game meant to be controlled using keyboard only or navigated with mouse and using keyboard for input? In some places you use buttons for mouse and in others you expect us to type Enter. This is quite confusing and lead me to wonder what I'm supposed to do at times. Likewise for the ordering a mouse dragging with hamburger icon would have been more intuitive than using the arrow keys. If what you wanted instead are arrow keys, small arrows on top and bottom of the options would have helped to indicate that those boxes are meant to be moved.

That being said those are just small UX details. The concept is cool and good job programming this server capable of managing those quotes with votes and all, very impressive!

shakedimus 2022-10-08 05:30

@winter2277 thanks for the feedback, I agree with the UX coments, I was aware of this but I only had very little time this weekend so I made everything work in the way it was easiest to implement. Also I have to admit I didn't program the server. I used https://silentwolf.com/ a free backend for Godot game highscores, I was so happy when I found this , you should check it out:D Wasn't really built for votes though so I had to hack a system together where I used the metadata and an "acummulator" leaderboard.

jamdong15 2022-10-08 06:14

Just played the game-- this is probably the most unique take on the theme I've seen so far! I can also see this being a really fun Jackbox game :)

My main piece of feedback is that the prompts weren't super clear. Prompts like "You're talking to someone who's afraid of spiders, and you want to scare them" were very straightforward & easy to understand. But prompts like "You have to do one thing for the rest of your life." weren't as clear; if the entire goal is to come up with fake facts, then this prompt doesn't actually invite me to do that. One person's answer to this question was "Every 10 seconds, I make a million dollars." That's not a fact but there was really no other way to answer that prompt. Not sure if I'm making sense, haha.

In any case, I understand the concept, and I think that this would be a really cool idea for a party game :) I would totally play something like this with friends. Great entry!

shakedimus 2022-10-08 11:14

@jamdong15 Thanks for the feedback! I agree some prompts do not really fit with the main objective. I originally planned to have a few rounds with different takes on "every 10 seconds" with one being facts and the others being more broad. I didn't have time to implement this but I threw in some of the prompts I had already thought of for the other rounds. Might have muddled the message a bit that way.

thatzniko 2022-10-08 12:04

THIS GAME IS FUNNY AND CLEVER, LOVED IT

teddyreid 2022-10-08 21:09

Really unique take on the theme. Maybe one of the most unique I've seen.

UI and UX I thought were quite good. Everything was clear, well explained.

I thought the prompts were variable in quality - some of them lent themselves more toward pure comedy, and other lent themselves more to "QI" style bullshit facts, which is the intention. I think crowdsourcing prompts as part of the game might be a neat idea.

Overall, really neat. Feels like something out of a Jackbox Party Pack!

badcop 2022-10-09 11:38

I checked this out on my stream! [Here's a link to the VOD](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1619345236?t=4h08m00s)

excited to see what the leaderboards look like towards the end of the jam :)

maxkyckling 2022-10-09 16:53

Cool game! Interesting to see a game where you actually rate other people! Good job :)

shakedimus 2022-10-09 17:03

@MaxLyckling thanks :)

gonzalol 2022-10-10 09:14

Very funny take on the theme. The gameplay is really simple but it deserved 5 stars on theme, innovation and fun scores. Good job thinking out of the box.

skvader-418 2022-10-10 16:20

i had a such good laugh while playing this i can play this all day if it werent for sleeping and farting ofcourse

shakedimus 2022-10-10 17:50

@skvader-418 hahah those are off course very important :D

serxiolas 2022-10-10 23:13

What a fun game! social engaging experience full of comedy! It feeds from players humour being humouristic itself! Must play and vote!

deprecat 2022-10-11 01:11

Feels like you make a game just for us to decompress after the jam - very sweet :P

I agree with some of the UX suggestions, just making mouse-based buttons or keyboard only (or both but either can be used in isolation) would work best.

It would be nice to have additional voting options for prompts too - sometimes a prompt is not a good idea but it makes me laugh regardless so it would be nice to reward those players for making me giggle with a reaction you can give out

john-wuller 2022-10-11 06:23

I love that link you posted (https://www.omnicalculator.com/everyday-life/every-second). Combine that with https://www.themeasureofthings.com/ to end up with some interesting results!

2022-10-11 06:28

Never did I think I'd see a leaderboard for random every 10 seconds bs in here. But I was proven wrong, this is definitely a fun one if you can get some ideas to drop in, unfortunately I didn't get too many, but it was kinda hilarious reading the other ones that were submitted. There are some great ones in there for sure.

Gameplay wise obviously there's not much but it's definitely cool to do a game based entirely around community leaderboards and see what craziness people end up submitting, or what ends up reaching #1. Cause it's gonna be something you wouldn't have of. Which at least it seems to be, but it's definitely interesting.

The UI definitely isn't the best though for sure, I'd say it needs a little work especially since it seems like you can't look through the whole hall of fame, since it doesn't allow switching between prompts all the time. Which is quite unfortunate. I wanna see all the craziness people came up with but IU can't manage to get it to let me see more than 1 or 2 prompts in the hall of fame. Possibly just 1.

Overall though definitely a kinda funny one to read and try and come up with random stuff to submit for sure.

shakedimus 2022-10-11 07:33

@eroaxe you can see all the answers. It might not be very clear though. When you finish the game you get to see the specific leaderboard of the questions you answered but if you hit "All prompts" it gives you the full leaderboard across all the different prompts. If you hit "hall of fame" in the starting menu it takes you there directly. Hope that makes it more clear. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

tuile 2022-10-11 16:04

I had fun discussing the questions and tinkering with the UI. One of those social games I would love to play in a group and see how everyone does. I found it fun that you managed to come up with a non-time-limit oriented mechanic for the theme.

Thanks for making and sharing this!

soe 2022-10-12 10:33

Super fun game! :)

hexyvexy 2022-10-12 16:46

Fab little game and a good concept, although the UI/UX issues curtail it's potential a little.

victorfinger 2022-10-12 20:54

super funny theme interpretation. creative too! otherwise, i dont think the game was for me
