Intresting core game mechanic when you need to eat all apple to move to next one. I would like to see more obstacles that stop me from eating it)
cute concept and art!
The game has an interesting mechanic (sticking to an apple with your body).
When I saw a purple worm, I thought that some new game elements are about to be introduced, but you probably ran out of time so we couldn't get more. I think there are some things that could be added to the game, if we ignore the compo constraints.
Another good part is that this game has a working flow. You can restart the game and actually finish it. It's something that some of the compo games can miss. :D

Hahaha nice evolution of the classic snake, I love the art. gj!
@nazariglez is it an evolution though? The original game is real-time, this is why it's easy to make a mistake, esp in the late game. This game is more of a puzzle. Therefore, I would put it in a different category.
After the new carma changes, I see so many comments that feel like carma farming. :D (I might very well be wrong, but it's just a feeling)
Good gameplay and graphics. Couldn't reach the third apple even though I thought I ate the first 2 apples completely. Would have liked some audio.
@quasilyte karma farming is totally fine by me  But yeah, maybe more inspiration than evolution. Having an auto movement mode like snake would be fun and hectic though!
Oh, this is an interesting interpretation of the mechanics, though it lacks some dynamism. It's more of a turn-based puzzle. At first, it was hard to understand what was happening, but then I realized there’s an abyss below, and later understood that the goal was to grow a caterpillar. Interesting!
@johnbrynte it's fine by me as well. :D I'm not here to break any fun, but the words "evolution" caught my attention when used in this context. xD
I wish it only took me 193 seconds to find love. It was fun to see the larva move in and out of the apples. It took me a minute to understand what made me start falling.
Very cool concept here! The idea of having a miniature game of Snake set inside a level you have to navigate to with gravity physics is really neat, and would love to see this kind of idea expanded on; I could already see a lot of potential with this premise. Really liked the visuals for this one too!
I felt really tense when I was falling! Such a fun game~ I love the gravity mechanic!5ef47aa541f0789a0cd1af86e4af87d.png
Very interesting concept! 🍏 The idea of eating apples to progress is really engaging. The art and visual style are just adorable! 🎨 The movement and gravity mechanics add tension, especially when the ball falls. 😱 Overall, great job! 👏
I liked the length idea of going from apple to apple, cool idea. Cute graphics as well, the only thing missing is sounds/music. But I understand, only so much time.
Very cool mechanics, super nice job!
Fun concept for a game. I didn't realize there was gravity at first, but once I picked up on that, it was fun to play. I wish there were more effects (sound, visual, etc.) as you chomp and grow, but great game nonetheless
Very cute art. I think the idea of making it a puzzle would be interesting if there were more restrictions, like not being able to cross holes you made, or if seeds were an obstacle. As it is, the worm not being able to cross over itself was only a problem once, and I was still able to get around it by going outside the apple. I also had a hard time getting past the first two apples. I couldn't figure out that the last part of the worm fell out through the corner of the apple. Maybe the first challenge should be more generous, or maybe it could be indicated better which part fell out. Like I like the how the "x-ray" visual turns on and off but it did make it hard to tell which spots were okay to dig into. Oh, and I noticed that pressing keys too fast would eat the inputs, which is frustrating if you're on a timer. Nice job with the game!
This is a really smart idea! I loved the small touches as well, like the x-ray effect others have mentioned, along with the parallax background and slight animation. To help make falling less frustration, it might be cool to have an effect where the snake trembles a bit when it's about to run out of length (just so the drops aren't so subtle). Overall this is an awesomely cool game, especially for compo!
It's a good gameplay puzzle it's a cool version of snake ^^ And well play for the compo
I did not expect to fall when going from the first apple to the second! Really cool mechanic. I also liked the touch of the switch of the apple graphics when inside or outside. Nice work!
Thank you all for playing and giving great feedback! :star2: :snake:
@impiaaa I agree, there's really not much challenge in the current state of the game. As others have said the only challenge is understanding how the game even works. I think you're on to something about the graphics not being entirely clear as well. There is an underlying grid, so making the apple graphics follow that grid would probably make things better!
@leckert Fun to hear about the tremble idea! I think that's a great idea, I had something similar in mind. Just needed another 15 minutes
Cool idea to use snake and change it that way. I had a really great time playing the game :D Would be cool if the beginning had more possibilities (since I currently only found one way to get to the third apple). Also having more variation inside of the apples, like obstacles or other worms to avoid would make the game more interesting, but I guess that would have been to much for the compo :D Anyways, nice work! :snake:
i ate the apple. Then the next apple. Then i fell to my death many times. I just couldn't eat enough to reach out and get to the next one many times. :-)
Great game! Interesting mechanics! Neat art with a pleasant color palette. Well done!
I found love in a ~~hopeless~~ apple place 🍎♥️
