LD52 — Harvest

Foraging Frenzy: Too Many Plants by almost 2023-01-27T17:54:33Z

Great mix of short-burst platforming and incremental seed hybridization! I found the gardening a bit confusing at first, but it feels great to buff up a super seed and demolish everything in your path. The art style was super polished for a game jam game too, awesome job!

Harvest Puzzle Box by boldbigflank 2023-01-27T18:37:45Z

Really cool puzzles! It was satisfying to see all the garden elements pop up on top of the box after each was solved. I really liked the length of the game as well, it was the perfect bite-sized experience. It would have been nice to have another indicator for the audio puzzle for those who can't hear the audio or happen to have it muted when they begin playing -- maybe like a note popping up to indicate that sound is a factor in the solution.

CardVest by RealTanHen 2023-01-27T18:06:49Z

Awesome game with much more depth than I expected! There was a bit of a learning curve, but felt really satisfying to attempt to get into a sustainable flow of crop-growing. I can tell there was a lot of balancing work behind the card values, and it was definitely worth it!

a farmer and his fields, bound together by deimos 2023-01-27T18:29:44Z

Great example of using gameplay to convey a theme. I felt like the amount of years I was able to complete would reflect on my character. The graphical presentation also establishes a very contained mood that reinforces the mundanity of forced repetitive labor. Awesome job!

Beat the Harvester by Cloverfall 2023-01-27T18:12:53Z

Really cool idea to flip the harvesting theme around, and making the player try to prevent a harvest! It's cool to see tower defense systems that don't restrict where you can place things, I think this could be extended to create a really satisfying game where you can watch your terrifying blobs of cannons annihilate farm equipment. Great job for a first entry!

Down to Earth by Chum Chum 2023-01-27T18:00:35Z

I love how juicy the crop-is-finished-growing animation is, it makes it really easy to keep track of where to go. I also think the grow-your-own-ammo system is a great way to make movement decision more weighty than simply avoiding enemies. I Think it would be cool to allow for growing different types of plants with their own pros and cons, perhaps making them take different seed packets, number of plots, growth times, etc. for more on-the-fly strategizing!

LD54 — Limited Space

Bearrow by LoparPanda 2023-10-15T00:41:16Z

Love the art style, and it was exciting to see the upgrades stack up!

Buttons by BuzzyBee 2023-10-05T01:46:56Z

Awesome level design! Took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out I could wall jump, but the character controls in a really satisfying way once it clicks!

CAVE by InitialPosition 2023-10-03T00:53:55Z

Great game! Graphics and sound are super polished, and the second color palette blew my mind. Played it through and wish it was longer -- it would also be cool if you could toggle other aspects of the level to "save memory," maybe have a limitation on how many can be active at once

Stowaway by srn cq 2023-10-03T05:12:02Z

Really liked the theme and thought the music and graphics were good! I liked the concept but agreed that it's a little too easy, the player isn't really incentivized to take much action if they find a good hiding spot.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Rise of the Wee Giraffes by khaotom 2024-10-08T04:42:14Z

Fantastic vibes!! Great job making each scene feel unique, intriguing and surreal. Definitely the most memorable game I've played in the jam so far!

Apple Snake by johnbrynte 2024-10-17T04:34:11Z

This is a really smart idea! I loved the small touches as well, like the x-ray effect others have mentioned, along with the parallax background and slight animation. To help make falling less frustration, it might be cool to have an effect where the snake trembles a bit when it's about to run out of length (just so the drops aren't so subtle). Overall this is an awesomely cool game, especially for compo!

Beetle with a Mixtape by nanolotl 2024-10-17T04:24:02Z

Really awesome and tightly-designed! Particularly loved how the lava section tied together a bunch of abilities, and the quick retries made it addicting to retry the tough bits. Amazing job overall!

Rat Dead Redemption by GreenPig 2024-10-15T05:01:28Z

Love the vibe created by audio and visual effects -- even the camera angle made it feel like a dungeon crawling experience. Amassing an army of rats was addicting and satisfying, but it would be cool to get a bit more feedback during combat. Maybe adding rare rats with different stats/abilities could help incentivize exploration more too!

Small hope for a tiny sea creature by Enad96 2024-10-18T03:47:56Z

This one was pretty fun! I really liked the visual effects, and how the camera shifts when entering a tight space. The big fish was especially terrifying in the third level  The hitboxes on the sea urchins could probably be a bit smaller, but that might just be a skill issue -- the quick respawns kept things from being too frustrating. Great game overall!

Colony by Arscene 2024-10-18T03:56:32Z

Really awesome concept and game feel! It's clear that the systems in the game were thoughtfully designed -- I can imagine it would be compelling on a larger scale with more verbs as well. Loved the illustrations on the cards too lol

Tinysaurs by v1ris 2024-10-08T05:10:04Z

Super comforting and almost nostalgic vibe -- really awesome job with the graphics and music! +1 on the marketable plushies idea

PogoCombo by Mavvy 2024-10-08T05:14:10Z

Love the art style and music. Game feel is insane for a game made in such a short time too -- movement is awesomely satisfying, and I love the combo freeze-frame!

Bewildering Battles by Cronno 2024-10-08T05:01:26Z

Very impressive variety for a battle system developed in 48 hours! Lining up a string of attacks and watching them all execute was really satisfying. I also really liked how each party member had a clear personality based on its sprite and moveset! For extra polish, it would be cool to display the effects of debuffs somewhere in the UI -- it wasn't clear whether they stacked or not.

Cheer Pinball by hakimallazi 2024-10-15T04:46:37Z

Love the graphics and sounds! It would be cool to up the juice as others have mentioned above -- faster flippers and making the fans respond more to events in the game would make the gameplay even more satisfying!

Frog Force: Jungle Invasion by ScrivenerOfLight 2024-10-08T04:54:50Z

I really enjoyed the puzzles -- the solution to the second level was really satisfying once it clicked, and the constraint of only having one of each frog kept it approachable. To flesh things out more, it might be cool to have a few easier levels that introduce the player to each frog one at a time. Nice job!

Underground Shuffle by Pigeons_everywhere 2024-10-15T05:08:57Z

I think I found all the cheese! It was a little frustrating dying so often (being a rat is tough!), though -- it might be nice to make the hitboxes for enemies a bit smaller than they appear on screen. I thought the environment was cool too, gave off a bit of an otherworldly vibe.

Ant of the Road by SpeedyRagout 2024-10-18T04:03:33Z

I really liked how the music changes, and the satisfaction of watching the ants stream out along the path I created! It was a little unclear that crossing over the sugar path with itself leads to the ants dying, though. Overall, it was super enjoyable playing through the levels, would be cool to see this idea expanded on!

Little Guys! by RamChops Games 2024-10-08T05:07:04Z

Love those little guys. Also the polish and game feel. Also the varied and well-thought-out levels. And the super fun and chaotic twist on this genre of puzzle game. But above all else, love those little guys.
