Gave me a certain Nintendo vibe for some reason. Great job on Audio and mood.
Big fan of these little guys. Gameplay is a lot of fun and I love the overall vibe. The moving background with the little icons of the little guys was an especially nice detail.
Interesting choice of adding physics with a real-time stream to this sort of puzzler---it was really satisfying finding just the right time when a large group momentarily connects amidst the chaos. :P
This is a fun little game for this game jam, I like it!
The visual style of the game is really cute and the sound effects add a lot of charm! πΆπ The gameplay is addictive, especially with the addition of physics - it adds interest and makes the game even more exciting! π₯πΎ
Very cool! I like that theres different face variations for same colors :D
As someone who has red/green colorblindness, I really appreciate that all the little guys are all still visibly distinct in shape and design as well. It's really accessible in that reguard.
I agree with the other comments as well. The gameplay loop is super fun and satisfying. Everything functions super well, especially the physics of the little guys and the system that links them together before you clear a group out.
Very fun to play - really enjoy the twist to this "candy crush"-like game by making the creatures physics based. Great entry!
It started out way too loud for headphones >.< Clicking as fast is I can on whatever my mouse finds feels really effective.
Nice game ! I like the polish on the menus, it must take time ! the idea of gameplay is great, the audio is nice and polished. The game is very fast and responsive. Fantastic job for a game done alone !!
Thank you everyone for your kind comments so far! Also sorry about the audio @theyflower, I'll probably patch it in a post-jam update. Thanks for notifying!
Hey @ramchops-games it's my turn to review your game ;)
First of all, the polish of the menus is the super cool, the tutorial is well explained and the graphics super cool. I love the music too, it fits the gameplay really well. However I turned off the SFX after 1 minute, it's fun but it gave me a headache hahaha
The amount of levels is nice, though I would have liked less levels but more balanced. I totally understand the ideas behind the last levels (bottom ones), but they are too difficult and sometimes too random. Actually my favorite one was EarthQuake as it keeps the whole pack in place but still shakes them just enough to create new groups ans this is interesting.
The gameplay itself is simple, effective and the tiny characters lovely (except the big red one, taking the whole space hahaha). The fact that their shape will obviously influence the gameplay is nice, you can build up your strategy around it. Long live the blue ones ! That said, I found quite frustrating the fact that the shapes are generated over time. I think the game is difficult enough without it. If you wanna have a positive ration and clear the board, yo need to pack up 4 guys. But to pack up 4 guys, you'll need to delete some that are on the way. So it will create more guys. That is okay if then you can make a huge pack or wait for a dynamic level to do it for you. But with the spawn over time, it's nearly impossible to clear the board and play as long as I want. It also makes the statistics panel useless because you don't have enough time to have a look at it. I would have liked to have some moments to breathe and feel proud about the clear I managed to get.
I think that a solution to increase difficulty over time would have been to increase, after a certain score, the amount spawned when you click on a pack. It would force you to manage your strategy around the upcoming shapes and eliminate them properly.
I think this point is the only problem for the gameplay along with some levels throwing away everything.
That said, I still found the gameplay addictive, played for a while, wanted to create huge packs, and wanted to try all the levels. Well done, well polished, nice audio, great graphics and a bit of humor in the level names.
Fun to play, however game doesnt start for me on ludum page
Woo! Yea! Yee-hah! Woo! Yippee!
I had such a great time with this. Fun spin on the genre with a VERY impressive amount of polish for a jam. A gameplay preview on the menu screen? Level titles named after OSHA violations? Graphical variation on the titular *Little Guys*? Editing royalty free music so the lead instrument cuts out while the game is paused?! I see you. Fantastic job!
Love those little guys. Also the polish and game feel. Also the varied and well-thought-out levels. And the super fun and chaotic twist on this genre of puzzle game. But above all else, love those little guys.
@dashvirus Hi, thanks for your feedback! Your suggestion for a more strategic, non-time based game is spot-on, so I think I might implement it as an alternate game mode in the post-jam version.
As for the bottom row levels, which level do you find particularly unforgiving? I wanted to make sure whether it's the same one I'm thinking of, or if it's something completely different than I expected.
Wow! A perfect harmony between the visuals and the music. The game quickly captivates you with its mechanics. Also, I enjoyed the variety of modes. Great job!
Cool idea! Super!
@ramchops-games To answer your question, the levels I found difficult were No OSHA, Football and of course Bottomless ;)
Cool game. I never played anything like it. It is a very responsive build. With the chaos of those little guys popping in, having them pop out quickly is a good thing. I can see people having fun with this trying to get those numbers up. Great work!
Nice games ! For a Jam it's really good GG all !
Pretty fun adn nice gameplay design. I only had trouble recognizing the similarities between the creatures without hovering over them with the mouse.
Found the moving background and the join between it and the other background really distracting but I liked the concept.
Nice polishing for a LD game, graphics and audio are on point and the gameplay feels new. Great job !
Great retro vibe (maybe only for me), sound effects are awseome
Oh my god, the sound effects are hilarious, they remind me of like, Banjo Kazooie characters talking on the N64 lol :joy:
The background is a tad distracting like oliver had said but its a fun game!
Very satisfying to play, I enjoyed! the music and sound effects are good match, nice work!
Simple mechanic but done well, I like that! The amount of levels you have created is truly impressive. I wished the little guys would've had more FX when being clicked, like particles, visual chain reactions, different sounds based on how much are destroyed at once... This can take a game to a whole new dimension. Solid entry, congrats!
Very fun and addictive game!! I really liked the sound design, very satisfying when you make the little guys disappear on screen while performing combos. Nice job!!
Fun game, was thinking you can just spam click to win, but noticed more spawns if i do that - like that "prevention" :D Overall well done
