LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Blobbies by tuism 2024-10-11T20:39:14Z

Dude, if you release it tomorrow, I'm buying it outright. It's a game that already has the potential to be published! It's got everything: the fun, eye-catching graphics, the little elevator music that gets stuck in your head, the addictive level design... even the little messages on the side of the screen are 10/10! And the best part: you can add different skins to the boards + a multiplayer mode where we wage tetris-style war against each other, and you've got a game that will invade all mobile devices. Seriously : release it. Now !

Tiny Tails by francoisvn 2024-10-11T09:51:22Z

I've never been very comfortable with tactical games, which is probably why I haven't managed to get through chapter 4 yet :) However, I found your game very well realized. The narrative sections are well written and immerse us in the atmosphere of an impending battle. I found the difficulty to be very progressive, having to restart chapters 2 and 3, but each time I found it to be a challenge I could cope with. The music and graphics fit the story perfectly. Thank you very much for this game! I had a great time despite my lack of tactical talent

Smash-o-Saurus: Tiny Creature Smasher by Wisch 2024-10-22T05:28:02Z

A very enjoyable video game, very reminiscent of children's games (when you built a mountain of legos and then destroyed them, ahah  ). But I'm saaaaad! I didn't get any sound (Windows version). I don't know what the problem is. I think I'd have liked a few more gameplay elements (obstacles, enemies) to spice things up, but you've already got a fun base.

Duck Walk by EnchaeC 2024-10-11T15:52:30Z

Probably the most accomplished game I've tested so far in this jam! The graphics and level design are very impressive, the map seemed huge to me, and the game pushes us to go as fast as possible to bring back the little chicks in 3 days (spoiler: I didn't succeed, but I had a lot of fun exploring the boards!). The music is great, and I was mortified the first time I accidentally squashed a chick, but that's the game (and it's great!). A huge GG to you!

Love Dance by chispaLBC 2024-10-12T11:26:10Z

A memory game with really cool graphics and music! (I love memory games!). The changes in position of the birds for the choreography are very funny. I would have liked a few more lvls, but for a jam game I think it's great enough! It's beautifully done, well done the team!

C.R.A.B. (Crustacean Rapid Action BattleForce) by StrangerYann 2024-10-22T05:40:10Z

Encore bravo !

*** Hey! Well done for this fun game :) I've only done the 1st level, because I encountered a blocking bug during the second (when changing weapons, I was never able to put the hammer on, I had to alt F4). The graphics are really cool, the sound design is funny and it's quite fun to destroy everything (long live the gatling!). Some little detail: I would have liked the destroyed buildings to take less time to disappear (I often had to run through it when I thought it was still there as an obstacle). Well done again!

Butter Time by TomPendergrass 2024-10-09T05:53:18Z

Hi there!

As a French person, I love the idea of playing a piece of butter ahah :) The graphics are very pretty, as is the music (although I would have liked the loop to be longer, because I got bored listening to it, but that's really a detail). In terms of gameplay elements, I didn't understand the effect of salt. Otherwise, all UI elements are very easy to understand (energy bar is perfect). 10/10 for the level design, progressive and challenging! The tutorials could do with a bit more visibility (change font size or type, or placement?). All in all, your game is a great success. Bravo!

Boba Teeny by ScrapMetal 2024-10-10T11:14:32Z

Very cute and addictive! I like the pixel art used in this game, which is simple but very effective. The sound design and music are very well done! The only downside for me was that I didn't feel there was any progression (in difficulty/gameplay) between levels. But the basic principle works very well! Bravo!

Battle for the Pages by Andreas Roschal 2024-10-11T21:19:39Z

This game is very effective, simple to understand but also challenging! With a presentation that I found very appealing (I love books), we end up with a kind of intelligent deckbuilding game. There are lots of mechanics at our disposal, and we can opt for different strategies to emerge victorious from a battle against other animals. I've put it in my itch.io favourites, and I'm looking forward to going back for more games! Well done!

Shadow of the itty-bitties by Kaish 2024-10-10T05:39:55Z

Hey! we met on my stream yesterday :) I was able to test your little game. I really like the old school graphics! The gameplay is simple but effective (the last 2 levels were pretty tough, especially with the latency, because when you press the key on the keyboard, it doesn't react immediately on the screen and you miss the bugs). I appreciated having the guide to find my way back. The music and SFX are simple but sufficient. On the other hand, I don't know why, but all the way through I had a white noise that spoiled the atmosphere (I don't know if it was coming from my PC or the game?). Well, I'm not sure I understood everything in the plot, but at least it made me laugh! Bravo to you for this game!

Insecticide Express by Quackqack 2024-10-22T12:22:51Z

I really loved this game, the feel, the graphics, everything! At first I thought I could get the bonuses just by letting them crash into my city, but in fact it was harder than that  I haven't got past wave 7 yet, because it's hard! I would have liked to have had some sort of booster or shield from time to time to limit the damage  Anyway, great game, well done!

Immune Defense by fnelix 2024-10-07T22:25:15Z

Thew! This game is too hard for me, but im never good at tower defense games, then i really can't assess the difficulty balance. I like how the theme is developped here! (love immunology sciences ahah!) - the graphics are cool. Well done!

G-news by Aune 2024-10-08T11:24:03Z

Excellent!! The music and the gameplay are sooo addictive! Your graphics fit perfectly the narrative and the humor. Congratulations, wonderful game! (and of course, gnomes don't exist).

Racoon Romance by BangKerpow 2024-10-11T06:21:52Z

This story is so cute! I loved the voice over, the feeling of listening to a bedtime story. As for the music, it tended to stop prematurely at each lvl. As for the gameplay, stealth isn't my cup of tea, but I did find the little gauge amusing (also, the gameplay for pressing the right timing to search the garbage cans). In my opinion, it would be interesting to introduce a little more diversity in the mechanics, so that there's more progression between each lvl. I found that lvl 2 was longer and more boring than the others, because there were 12 shiny things to collect, and not necessarily enough threats on the big map (my main difficulty was finding the last garbage can I hadn't searched yet  ).

Quest for Rain by spacecadet 2024-10-11T09:24:54Z

I'm really bad at stealth games  but yours is very good! The difficulty increases progressively, I've squeezed my buttocks a few times and had a good game feeling. The sound design de-dramatizes the game over (thanks for that!!). Well done!

Shrink by Halogen 2024-10-25T12:22:39Z

The gameconcept is really smart! Simple, but very efficient. I really liked what I saw (love pixel art graphics), but it was really (too!) short - my run lasted less than a minute! It's a good start for more level design though. Well done!

Another Day by Monnettie 2024-10-09T21:51:54Z

I love this bitsy engine! I've come across it in other interactive fictions and I still think it's great. I found that while the story was well told (with progression), I felt it lacked a bit of playfulness to really feel the “game” side of the creation. Nevertheless, congratulations on this achievement, and long live bitsy!

Tiny Suspect by Prolich 2024-10-09T21:48:39Z

What an efficient game! I really liked the original gameconcept, the whole deduction principle works beautifully, and the difficulty is superbly balanced. I particularly liked the fact that I couldn't see the clock and was stressed by the little music in my ears as the deadline approached! (it reminded me of Outer Wilds ahah  ). The graphics have an identifiable feel, and the sound design is minimalist, just right. On the other hand, it's a bit far removed from the theme, but that's really the only flaw I found in this very successful game! Well done!!

Chaos and Cuddles by UnagiV 2024-10-20T21:35:41Z

Oh, an atypical game in this gamejam! I really enjoyed looking after these little creatures, even though by the end there were so many of them in the enclosure that I found it hard to move between them! The gameplay is pretty addictive, and I'd have liked to try out the other enclosures (there are padlocks on them, which makes you want to know what you can do with them). Good job all!

Cheese Chase by Raymond Bourke 2024-10-12T08:46:10Z

Hey there! The graphics are really cute (I liked the fact that I wasn't too stressed by the atmosphere  ). I would have liked a bit more music in the game, but that's ok. I couldn't get past level 4 (too many spiders!!), but I think I was a bit uncomfortable with the mouse movement, which felt like sliding across the floor (like on an ice rink): it gives a funny effect, but it's hard to master, especially as there's no dodge/sprint command. Otherwise, the game goal is very clear and the level design seemed simple and effective. A great jam game!

AUXILIARY by T90. 2024-10-09T22:01:35Z

Hi there! I didn't know of a game centered on inventory management before, well it's a success! The overall atmosphere is also very immersive, and I really enjoyed the narrative parts (especially the graphics). I find that we're a long way from the theme, but the rest of the game makes up for that. I would have liked a real conclusion to the story (and not an open ending, where the mysteries are still there), but I understand that jam time is very constrained. And THE MUSIC! Oh my, thank you so much for introducing me to these artists! They're going straight into my playlist. Well done to the team!

Picky Snake by Ggross 2024-10-08T05:34:30Z

Nice puzzle game! I love that you took the snake's concept and reverse it, it's really smart! Really cool level design, guys, well done!

a pixie perfect fairytale by WeeFairyFabi 2024-10-09T21:35:36Z

Oh my, what a marvel! I'm a huge fan of interactive fiction, and I'm so happy to have found one of this quality in this jam! Your writing style is perfect for the story being told, the interplay between the pixies is very funny, I tested all the branchings (i think?) and saw the 2nd ending (are there any others?) after the second run. I had no idea that Twine could be integrated with Unity (I knew about the bridges between Ink and Unity, but that's all). Congrats for your graphics (I'd have liked them to be a little less sketchy at times, but I understand that gamejam time doesn't help). The music is discreet and in keeping with the universe. A huge bravo to you!

Close your eyes by Mateo Avventuriero 2024-10-11T06:02:58Z

Wouahou!

***

Wow! The gameplay is atypical. I'm a scaredy-cat, so I admit that it's not necessarily for my nerves ahah (it works very well on me, the black and white and Macleod's music are perfect for generating the eerie atmosphere). Putting the items to be retrieved in red is very useful, as they're easy to spot in the background. A few comments to help you improve the whole: - I had trouble spotting/reading the objectives (in white, they disappear with some elements of the scenery). - I had trouble identifying what was what, in the objects to be collected (and therefore where to put them). - There was an object on the ground (a toy car? or cubes?) that I never managed to pick up. - I'm not sure I always spotted what triggered the game over, because sometimes I could wait a very long time to cover my eyes after encountering a monster, and other times not at all.

In short, congratulations on a game that's off the beaten track! I hope you'll have the opportunity to improve it.

Burn EM‘ All by Lzic 2024-10-09T11:41:39Z

The original gameplay concept drew me in, and I found the graphics cute and in keeping with the theme. The only thing is, I felt the concept hadn't been exploited “enough”: - I couldn't move the magnifying glass up (but maybe it was intended that it couldn't move down?), which made the gameplay a bit static. - On higher levels, for example, I couldn't get several targets to burn at the same time (combo), even when they were close together. - I also expected the fire to spread to the nearest targets, but I don't get the impression that this isn't possible. - I found that it took a long time to burn the targets (and the buildings, even longer!).

As a result, the more things there are to burn (tiny creatures or buildings), the less I feel I can win or turn the game around.

I really think this game would be a lot more fun with small improvements, because the game concept is sooo good!

Sandwich Siege by Thassar 2024-10-07T22:10:42Z

Hey there! Congrats for this efficient tower defense game! Generally, im not a big fan of this kind of game, but yours work very well. The balance seems good to me (but it will may be too easy for experts players though :D )

Critter Journal by germ 2024-10-09T21:55:10Z

Wonderful in every way! The graphics are incredible, the diary is perfect, I'd like to play seek-and-find games as good as this every day! I thought of Botany Manor when I saw your diary, and it made me smile. I hope you'll continue to develop and bring us more pictures as beautiful as this one! Thank you for this sweet treat <3

Cheese Siege by Snorps 2024-10-08T05:41:02Z

Im reeeeally bad at tower defense games ahah! But this one was really nice, love the graphics and the pastel colors. And, of course, there is cheese <3

Tinies Reaper by KriSsS Gonko 2024-10-13T08:58:21Z

Very nice platformer, classic in form but effective. I liked the shortcuts available, they're the kind of little ‘secrets’ I like in this type of game  I really liked the music, very peaceful. Sometimes (a little visual bug?) I was able to jump onto the lower part of a platform (without actually being on it). I also wondered how necessary it was for the gameplay to be very zoomed in (because I played the whole time in zoomed-out mode). Well done!

Among the Foliage by Zz11uKS 2024-10-10T16:56:30Z

I really liked the game's atmosphere and gameplay mechanics! The tutorials are also well integrated, well done! Maybe a restart button when you lose? Because every time, i had to restard the game in order to try again.

Tardigrade Travels: A Tardigrade's Terrifyingly Terrific Traversal Through Time! by Plasmak 2024-10-08T05:26:14Z

Same than dinobobbo! I would enjoy to try this game (Travel time lover here) but the .zip is not found!

Germinator by Arthurmtro 2024-10-09T12:04:03Z

i love bullet hell / vampire survivor like games! i'm very happy to come across a bullet hell in this jam. There are some good ideas and energy in yours, well done! However, I've come across a few points that I think could be improved: - the music could do with a little more variations - I had trouble understanding when the bugs were hurting my character and by how much. - I also had trouble seeing the point of increasing my movement speed, because the bugs always ended up sticking to my character. - I didn't perceive the differences between the bugs (do they have more or less HP? do they attack differently? does the player have to attack them differently?): as the targets are very close together, I don't think it helps to distinguish their characteristics. - I didn't understand the “ahahahahah” flashing on the screen. Could I click on it? (I didn't test it)

Hope you could develop your concept later! Congratulations for this gamejam!

Slurp'em all by Romane R. 2024-10-11T16:16:15Z

The same as @spica  I didn't feel like I was doing much, but the little blob became huge by eating everything within its reach... all by itself!

Quackling Rescue by Laywelin 2024-10-09T05:32:49Z

Oh, French people too? Hi team! I'll take this opportunity to make you a feedback in both languages. I really like the gameplay, it's very accessible (great, the tutorials integrated into the environment!) and quite varied in terms of obstacles and environmental elements! Your little ducks are very cute, and you're perfectly in tune with the gamejam theme. I wondered if there wasn't a counting bug (top right), because visually, my number of ducks didn't match the figure shown. Finally, although I found the sound design amusing, I think I would have liked some background music too. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the last duck, but I'll definitely try again! Anyway, well done folks!

LUCA by KaiWang 2024-10-09T11:27:43Z

This game is very addictive! Well ok, I didn't shine  , I think I didn't exceed 30 years in game length, but I loved the gameplay concept. I was reminded of the early days of Spore in a more tactical mode ahah  I really like the idea behind it (the micro-organism you want to grow and develop). Very effective and quick to grasp, but also very challenging. Didn't see any bug! If I could offer one piece of advice, I'd add a tutorial stage at the start of the game. Well done!

The Fish that Figured it Out by Dean Goodson 2024-10-11T19:43:23Z

I love it. The idle games. Then i hate you for that (because of the idle game addiction), but i love you too. THANK YOU for putting an idle game in this gamejam. (Otherwise, everything is perfect: the graphics, the sound design, the theme, the rocket, even the credits. Bravo!!!!!)

Tiny Rescue by LilieBagage 2024-10-23T15:06:38Z

Thank you, thank you for all your kind words and encouragement  We've put a lot of ourselves into this little game, and our creative synergy seems quite palpable (this is the 2nd gamejam we've done together). Btw, as a beginner voiceover artist, your comments give me plenty of energy for the future! Thanks a lot folks :hearts:

AquaLens by Chlolauro 2024-10-11T20:27:01Z

Oh, this game is very chill, i really like that! I love being able to collect photos in games to fill a codex or museum, so I had a lot of fun here. I only spotted one little bug: I photographed the last jellyfish I was missing (the purple jellyfish) over and over again, but it never wanted to slip into my photo album! Thanks for this bubble of tranquillity :)

Stuart's Perfect Day by James Poole 2024-10-07T22:32:34Z

So chill and cute! I love fishing games, so yours is perfect for me. Graphics are simple, but efficient. Music loop is discreet. However, as a narrative design lover, i would have liked some little narrative evolution there :) Well done anyway!

The Great Dangling by magopian 2024-10-09T08:39:54Z

Excellent game here! I had a lot of fun with the sound design (oh la la! ). I really like this type of fast-paced game, with no need for detailed explanations to understand the gameplay. It's all very effective. Bravooo!

Little Guys! by RamChops Games 2024-10-20T20:49:55Z

Very fun and addictive game!! I really liked the sound design, very satisfying when you make the little guys disappear on screen while performing combos. Nice job!!

Little Chef by DERRIXX 2024-10-20T21:42:04Z

The game's concept appealed to me straight away, but unfortunately I was quickly frustrated by the controls (which were numerous and not easy to master). The graphics and music are perfect for putting us in a ‘Ratatouille’ atmosphere, and I would have liked to have had more patience to master the movements of my human puppet :) Great idea though!

Midnight Garden [DEMO] by Hawkessmont 2024-10-09T21:44:04Z

Great, a visual novel! Thanks for this game, I'm always happy to find some interactive fiction in a gamejam. What's more, it's a prologue (hehe, we're used to prologues in the interactive fiction community  ). It's all very beautiful (gorgeous graphics!) and nicely written. I found it a little sad, however, that there was no musical ambience. Mind you, I don't know where this comes from, but Ren'Py used to show me a “warning: FS error” when a text choice was proposed. Finally, a little advice from one IF designer to another: the current prologue can end in 2 very different ways (with or without a certain character). However, if it's really a prologue (and you're planning to write the sequel), this fork in the plot will give rise to 2 parallel stories, which may explode your scope... and therefore your writing/development time! I'd therefore advise you to avoid having these 2 very different ways of finishing the prologue (or to set up an event very quickly in the story, just after the prologue, to have a single plot path again).

Congratulations again!
