This was a very cute game- I loved how the ducklings got distracted by food, reminds me of my partner and my doggo. Genuinely enjoyed, definitely room for further development. The main sprite sometimes glitched out, might be worth looking into.
Good work mate!

Cute game! It reminded me of part of the old Sonic 3D game or a side-quest in a bigger RPG. Satisfying to collect the duckies, and interesting little challenges that I'd be interested see more. HONK!

Really charming with a great visual style. I sadly didn't manage to find the last one x_x. Quack!

Absolutely adorable, I loved the little duckling art, and that background song with the quacking was super cute.
I may or may not have left the ducklings in front of the TV at times, while finding their siblings, but it seemed to lead to some weird behavior with the counter of how many ducklings I had, when I called them away again. Also the revolving doors tended to push away the ducklings.
But all in all it was a really cute contribution and playing it felt pretty satisfying, well done :)
This game is cute, simple yet engaging. Graphics are really neat and there's a great variety in the obstacles you encounter along the way!

As a duck fan, I couldn't help but love this game! Great sound and art design, and I think it's a really cute and quacky direction to build on! :)

The art is great! Great work Mantelia! I really appreciate that there's an alternate ending. I was beginning to believe I triggered the cutscene by mistake.

Super cool game with the mix of 2d and 3d, super fun and I love ducks so it's a pleasure to play this hahaa Good job everyone!
Nice entry, it's always hard to do a 3D game and you manage to do it properly! The gameplay is simple but I had a good time with my little ducklings 🦆
That style of the textures is amazing, really unique. The game was great. I wonder if would be good if there was a "strategic" reason to park some of the ducks around - like, if you have more ducks you move slower, so you leave some by the TV while you explore one area, then come back and regroup.
Anyhoo, really delightful game - great job.

So cute <3 Theres something so satisfying about trailing a small army of tiny creatures behind my giant duck! And of course being able to quack is always fun!

Very cute and very nice ! It did intrigue me once I started playing. I suppose there was no way to get 6 ducklings and pass the first level, right ! Great job, guys !
Cute and cool game) Intresting idea, Played with pleasure)and the sounds of THE DUCKLINGS ARE VERY CUTE AND FUNNY)

Cool idea! Super!

@laywelin Haa ! I went back in after reading your comment and found the 6th one on the left and then was able to finish the game. At first play I found that place on the left but I didn't notice that there was another duckling there hehehe and because it was a gamejam I thought maybe that's all there was hhh. Congrats again, guys ! Awesome job !

Thanks to everyone testing and commenting! We are delighted to see you're enjoying our tiny """ducks"""!
There is indeed a known bug that the duckling counter can go off, the best way to fix that is... to make sure all ducklings get on another target, then call them back. Yes I'm saying everything gets smoother if you let the kids watch TV for a sec. Yes. I know.

Lovely little game, the distraction mechanic works quite nicely and I like how you can even use them to "park" the babies while getting more ones. The cutscene artwork is superb too

Fun to play game! I like the distraction, and leaving them at the TV while you go searching for more ducks. The sprites for the ducks were really nice too.

love this games! I was a bit confused with the other kinds of ducks (I thought they were not allies?) but I learnt quickly that they were indeed ducks :)
this game has a lot of good things! good job!
Hey @laywelin, je suis français aussi mais je te la fais en Anglais pour tout le monde ;) I discovered your game thanks to your review on mine. And I have to admit, this is the cutest game of the Ludum I've seen so far. It's so lovely how they follow you but always get distracted. Then you have to be a good dad-uck and bring them back with a good assertive quack ! I would love to see more levels with new mechanics that would bring more challenge, cause I feel there are a lot of things to do !
On the graphics part, it's a 5/5 for me. It's just so cool what you guys have done. The stickers style is just awesome and quite uncommon !
The controller is smooth and the feeling is great thanks to the see-through-walls shader and the animations. I would reduce a bit the head bobbing though, I found it a bit too much, but this is a detail.
Oh and I was about to forget ! The SFX are just perfect haha. Even though at the end you wanna volume it down a bit ^^
Really nice job to you guys !

@dashvirus Oh mais j'avais as vu que tu étais français, ou francophone ! Thanks for your comment it warms our hearts that the love we poured into making this style is appreciated!!
Is there a way to follow you on twitter/itch if you do more work by yourself? Would really love to keep up with what you're up to :D
This was really cute❤️❤️❤️
On my first playthrough, I couldn't bring myself to leave the ducklings behind. The background sounds made me think they’d get eaten by the time I came back. Because of that, I noticed a small bug, when the chain of ducklings gets too long they start to glitch around, but it didn’t affect gameplay.
Dude I love the fire SFX, all of the SFX even... It's silly and cute! I'm personally fine not bringing all of the ducks to the ending, I assume that's a "bad end" I got for only bringing 10. The way I see it, it's survival of the fittest! Jokes aside I enjoyed this game a lot, it has a lot of charm (Especially in the audio department). Cute art, and a unique gameplay concept. Well done :)

I really like that distractions can be both annoying and useful, for example you can use tv not to bother with ducklings for a while. Interesting artstyle choice, using both 3d and 2d, interesting why you chose to do so :p . Also best music I have ever heard

Really cool use of the theme and the graphics are great! That being said, the constant camera wobble/tilt while walking genuinely made me quite dizzy. I would definitely play more otherwise! Love the sound effects and Swan Lake easter egg in the 'music' btw
Feels very charming, cool graphics
Oh, French people too? Hi team! I'll take this opportunity to make you a feedback in both languages. I really like the gameplay, it's very accessible (great, the tutorials integrated into the environment!) and quite varied in terms of obstacles and environmental elements! Your little ducks are very cute, and you're perfectly in tune with the gamejam theme. I wondered if there wasn't a counting bug (top right), because visually, my number of ducks didn't match the figure shown. Finally, although I found the sound design amusing, I think I would have liked some background music too. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the last duck, but I'll definitely try again! Anyway, well done folks!

Awww I love the tiny ducklings! The way they get distracted was so cute, I totally understand them as I also get easily distracted XD
Well done with the sticker 2D style in a 3D world. Managed to beat the game in one shot. Some little glitches and clunkiness here and there but overall there was enough challenge and some puzzle problem solving elements to the game. Loved the SFX haha
Short and sweet. Felicitations de Belgique!

French Coincoin here too ! (Mais on parle anglais comme les autres pour inclure tout le monde 😊) Really nice game ! It's funny to see how we had the same idea, but since you have more people and mostly more skills, your game looks better than ours xD Also, I tried to pause the game by pressing Escape, and I couldn't move my Duck after that, so I suppose there's a tiny bug but nothing too worrysome ! Bien joué !
XioBfmTar0A.jpg Hooray, hooray, the ducklings are saved! Although the game has simple visuals and gameplay, it still gives a good and kind experience. If you have an extra free minute, make more elements of the environment and a couple more levels

Very cute game, the visual style is lovely, the sound effects are well done, and the quack-music is certainly amusing. The gameplay itself is pretty simple, I think there could probably be some more variation on how the ducklings are distracted, since the majority of distractions are a stationary object (though I do appreciate how those objects themselves are visually varied like snacks and TV!). Also, the duck counter seemed buggy at times, displaying low numbers when all my ducklings were following (that didn't influence my rating though, I always expect some bugs in game jams). Besides that, you've made a great game, good job!

@game-dynasty I agree more details and levels would be appreciated! For levels we had more in mind but wanted to keep it short for jammers and make sure people would appreciate our ending cutscene. For details... You gotta imagine at 23:30 Monday evening there was no rug, no fire lights and no plants on walls 😅
Thanks for testing and reviewing our game ❤️ We will see if the game gets some traction to complete it with more story, duckling behaviors, silly quacks and environments ❤️

A very nice game! Very cute ducks) However, I sometimes had an error displaying the number of ducks (for example, 4 were displayed instead of 11). As a result, I managed to bring 10 ducks to the finish line, one got lost somewhere(( Thanks for the gaming experience! Good luck!

This game is pretty cool ! I had fun and i really enjoy the end little cutscene ! Nice work !
a very nice game! ducky is just adorable :) i like how simple and engaging the gameplay is, and it was so nice that you added new obstacles as the game progressed. i only probably wish so that there was some harder obstacles in the end, like a monster who steals our ducklings and brings them back to where they were initially :) the ending was also super nice! it would be great to have some music for it, like a lullaby in the background. and i liked that the ending was an open one, looks like there can be part 2 :D
awesome entry!

For some reason when I start the game, info on the floor says to use ZQSD to move. I thought "how unusual" but it is in fact WASD as it normally is. Must be a typo?
The game itself is very cute. I like the labyrinth setting and the fact I can see "shadow" of my ducks when behind the wall. And it's pretty big for a jam, wow! Impressive. While also feeling comfortable and smooth to play!
I like designs of my "ducklings" as well. They look quite unique! x3
Overall - so adorable! <3
This game is so cute! First of all, I really want to mention the sound effects, it's really cool. I like the art style too, I also love when planes are used in game design (I have a very strange passion, I know!). Hints right on the floor during the game - a great choice! And all these ducklings are so different, strange and cute, ah. Great job!

Oh god I love ducks
I love the children's story book look! The gameplay was nice and simple, with some variety added with the flowing water and rotating doors, requiring a bit of thinking/timing. Cute idea and well executed! I thought the recorded sound effects were a nice touch lol

*Coin-coin*, very cute game !! :duck:
The graphics were charming even though they could have been even more adorable with additional animation and effects/feedbacks. The Image book theme you went with worked really well with your story !
The sound effect were great, too bad it was lacking music.
The gameplay was ok. Maybe adding another action other than quacking could spice it up ? Even though the scope feel very well managed which is a feat for a game jam entry !!
Bon ma plus grosse déception reste quand même qu'ils ne finissent pas en cassoulet a la fin, en tant que co-Toulousain... :stew:
The game is very strange in a good way, unusual and fun. I really felt like a mom with small children who are constantly running away somewhere and you run after them to make sure that everything is fine with them. I was a little stuck at the last moment where I had to pick up 10 ducks, the ducks just didn't fit right away. And why is it possible to collect 13 ducks, but pass with 10? 3 ducks do not deserve mom's attention?) I'm kidding. The game is cute, the ducks and their mom are very cute in life and the game managed to convey it. I hope the ducks are fast asleep. Good luck with your future projects!

really cute game!! i love the quacking and all the other sfx, and i had a lot of fun desperately trying to herd the ducks along without them getting distracted, though i did only get 10 and not all 13 lol

Love the little ducks and the art style. The main mechanic was fun to play and figure out. It was nice that I could leave the ducklings distracted near the exit while I looked for the rest of the ducklings. And the audio effects are super funny x) Great work!

That's a small thing, but we did a patch to fix lights on rugs (probably no-one cares but me) and fix ducklings sometime not following properly or bugging the duckling counter! Sorry for those of you who did not get the proper ending even while being great parenting duck! You're awesome anyway <3

Really fun and simple! My only annoyance was that sometimes the TVs were so distracting that trying to get the whole 13 duckling train going was really frustrating, but I guess that was kind of the point
Dang, so short. I was just getting started.
Screenshot 2024-10-11 at 19.55.05.png
Nice to see a game with controller support. Not a big issue as it was the first button anyone is going to realistically try but you didn't mention the quack button for pad. The quack cooldown was absolutely pointless. It served no purpose at all besides annoying the player by making them do some pointless waiting. All the distractions really too were just wasting time and not really acting as a real obstacle.
The art was super cute. Sadly the baby critters were so small though that you couldn't really appreciate the great artwork enough on the gameplay itself. Only saw them properly in the end really. The duck being a bit bigger worked much better in my opinion. But the hand drawn 3D-ish cutout look with some bouncy transform animations worked great. Annoyingly there was some sprite tearing/flickering.
The sound scape for rather simple but better than complete silence I guess. The volume level was very quiet too.
The gameplay itself would need something more. It was very much just a walking simulator with no real hurdles or challenges. The second level started showing some more interesting level design but there too only the sucker robot really did anything meaningful. And that too in the end (after giving a threatening look at the first glance) was just a distraction like everything else but it just moved.
Sure those water paths and spinning platforms gave some more interest to the levels but they served no purpose mechanics wise. Nothing would have changed if they weren't there. At first it seemed like they were introduced as a mechanic for upcoming puzzle but no, nothing. Having some light puzzles that reward you with then those babies instead of just randomly finding them would have improved the pacing a bit and obviously would have given the game some more, well, gaminess.
Anyways, good job! 👍
@kanity My guess would be that they're from a country that uses [AZERTY](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AZERTY).

@antti-haavikko Thanks for a thoroughly written feedback :)
While I agree with some points, I also disagree on different aspects. If you remove cooldown allowing permanent honk, players will spam honk and ducklings will always follow, never getting distracted. If you make them ignore it sometime, you convey a different message with your story.
The point, at least I believe, isn't always to challenge the player. For instance, the point of that threatening guardian was that ducks starts following it like it's their mother, like a child could end up doing in a supermarket, making it goofy and fun to witness those dork "ducklings" follow the wrong target. It was not here to be a threat!
Finally, we initially had 3 more levels in mind. However we thought telling that cute story of a duck chasing very low-focus kids in a dungeon, even if some are tiny creatures disguising as ducklings, was our priority. Water paths and spinning platforms are indeed here to show possibilities, but we knew people wouldn't spend too much time on each game in a jam so we decided to keep it short. I'm sorry if that disappointed you, as I understand you thought it was too easy and not challenging enough. However I gotta admit that it was never our intention ^.^"
We hope one day we'll be able to bring another version of this game with different levels and puzzles <3
This game is making me wish there was a 'cuteness' voting category because that ending would earn this game 5* in that category. I really enjoyed playing, it was a fun little experience, with a solid central mechanic, some adorable characters, and good level design. Please keep making games!
@laywelin Yeah of course there needs to be a bit of a cooldown on the quack so it can't be perma spammed. But right now for example if you estimate the range of it wrong, you just need to still there doing nothing for a bit before you can do it again. It literally does nothing. And that is kinda the whole design flaw with the whole distractions that they nothing but waste time. There is no skill factor at all in dodging them or anything. It just messes with the pacing and feel of exploring.
Of course all games don't have challenge the players in any way. Pretty often they just do and that is mainly why I play games. Of course there are more story based games too and games that don't really challenge but offer some meaningful player choices. But if you strip away all challenge, choices and story, what really is there left?

A fun little Pikmin like, good work for the jam. My one criticism is I kind of hoped there'd be some puzzle or challenge to explore the mechanics a little deeper.
Very cute, love the art style 2d sprites in 3d world. Wish there was some puzzle element for avoiding distractions rather than just kind of spamming quack through them. Maybe some visual improvement to what is a duck vs food they can easily blend together. love the art wish gameplay was a little deeper :)

Extremely cute ending cut-scene. It is always nice to see people put effort into story in a game jam game (even if you can tell from our game I am biased on this). Was fun little adventure and I found the music to be very funny. Although I do appreciate the volume slider as it can get a little repetitive.
I really like the game, the character and object sprites. I felt the level design was a little lacking in details but I was left hoping that there would be more content so it must have been good overall
Also for people wondering about the ZQSD on the floor. I think the quality of the bagguette sprite is a hint. :flag_fr: :french_bread:

Nice game, really really loved the flag art style, especially for the little ducklings! The only thing that I'd improve is some sort of feedback on when/how/why ducklings get distracted, as I found myself over and over having some of them distracted and some not, then honk to get them back and got some while lost some others; my impression was that to get them all to move I had to really time well the honk with moving avay from the distraction, plus a little bit of luck. Aside from that, I think the game is fun and pretty much on theme, well done!
Félicitations! The game is super polished and pretty fun! I love the 2D/3D art style, it works really well here. Congrats!
HONK!
Quack quack quack, quack quack! QUACK QUACK quack... quack. Quack quack? Quack!! Quack Quack.

Screenshot_46.jpgThis game is pure fun! 🦆The incredibly cute visual style and sound create an atmosphere that is easy to immerse yourself in. The game pleasantly surprises with its combination of simple but addictive gameplay with unusual mechanics, such as distracting the ducklings with TV or snacks. This adds fun and unexpected situations to the game, making the passage exciting and dynamic. I would like to separately note the graphics - the characters are made in a style reminiscent of stickers, which makes the game especially unique. And, of course, the sound! The ducklings' quacks and funny effects create an indescribable atmosphere. 🐥
Great job! 👏
Very cute little game, I liked the artstyle, it reminds me a bit of Paper Mario! The quirky varied designs ducklings is a nice little touch too, makes them stand out. I also liked that the whole soundtrack was just quacks, that a funny touch lol.
The gameplay was nice for the short length, there was a decent variety in the level design even if rather simple to beat. I got both endings, I like the way it was presented like a kids story, makes it more charming and cute
good entry!

Really simple and to the point game. Art is really nice, but the gameplay could use some development, maybe by design puzzles around leaving certain ducks at certain spot and managing them, since I ended up dropping them at a given spot to make navigation easier. Also, due to the sound design I was half expecting the game to go into some jum-scare moment, but maybe that was just me hehe All in all, good entry!
I love the duck sounds—they're so much fun! I can even send the little ducks to watch TV to ease my challenges. It’s such a well-rounded game!
Adorable duck art, and I love that you can just drop the kids off in front of the TV while you go do other things. 🤣
