Generally it's bad online safety to scan QR codes, it also seems that the website linked doesn't function as intended.

Metaworld by TolMera 2024-10-08T22:05:39Z

@TolMera Thanks for your response. I believe my concern is valid, it's possible the QR code is safe yes, but the other person you responded to made some very fair points regarding convenience rather than security. If your game starts working online I'd be happy to play it and delete my old comment (However there's no reason to play to my "demands", from my perspective initially I saw a non-functional game that wanted location data & QR code scans. I hope you can empathize why this raised red flags for me.), I really don't want to start any trouble or anything like this. I do want to play your project!

Tiny Baking Simulator by Sarah 2024-10-08T17:08:25Z

If I had to describe this game in two words, it would be Very Cozy. It reminds me of what I consider to be the golden era of mobile games, high quality chill experiences that don't follow traditional gaming conventions. On my first playthrough I softlocked myself due to not understanding how to control the Fairies, but I figured it out the second time hahaha, I'm not such an epic gamer. Overall I think the concept is great, using Fairies as bakers is a very clever and cute way of interpreting the theme.

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-08T09:37:13Z

@nikkunakku @will-liu Thanks for the feedback! We somehow never had that crash, must be our latest polish build that somehow broke something. Thanks for letting us know!

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-09T12:54:07Z

@david-huculak Hi David, thanks for your feedback! It's true that the boss balance is slightly lopsided for the earlier bosses, particularly so with the Sky Raptor. We had anticipated that the players would challenge the bosses in any order they wished (Before the Crab), but it seems it's more intuitive to go for the closest one (Sky Raptor). Thanks for the kind words and feedback :)

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-09T17:30:23Z

@tomrijnbeek Hi Tom, we appreciate your feedback! The crashing issue still remains a mystery to us, not a clue what's causing it sadly. Your point on the health bar for bosses is valid, it's a criticism we've received a few times, fairly so. It was an intentional design choice to obscure how close you were to winning to some degree, but it would have been ideal for the player to have some way of measuring their progress. I can understand why that would be frustrating, it's something we all agree could have been done better. Thanks.

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-10T16:07:03Z

@nick-len Funny you should mention! I heard about your game from a team member who thought your game looked similar in concept to ours. I will absolutely give your game a try when I can!!! Haven't been rating as many games past couple of days but for another boss rush game I think I can do it lool. Thanks for commenting Nick.

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-10T18:38:56Z

@andriana-mantidfly Hi Andriana, we appreciate your feedback. I went ahead and booted up the game to try and replicate the issue you described, but I could not find any additional velocity being applied to the character during bomb throws. It could be a niche hardware issue with how your computer interacts with the game, a keyboard thing perhaps? I'll think more on this, thanks!

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-10T19:17:09Z

@whalejam Hi there, and thanks for your feedback! You raise some good points regarding how "useful" the weapon feels, if we had more time we likely would have implemented weak points or a similar system. Thanks for your kind words. :)

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-12T19:13:28Z

@she-wrote Thanks for playing! If it makes you feel any better, know that the goblins don't have a food shortage anymore.

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-14T00:09:12Z

@lllarso Hi, thanks for your review :) As the composer & sound designer for this project I take particular interest in what you said regarding the music, is there any chance you could go into more detail? Thanks.

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-18T13:21:50Z

@tarisma Hi, thanks for your feedback!

We had some tough choices to make balance-wise, of course no matter the situation it could always be better executed. We find that our current difficulty is just about right for most people, however I myself find the game too easy at times. If we were to do it again with more time, we'd probably have a hard mode for gamers like you and I.

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-18T18:32:16Z

@sasa-2010 Manners!

Critter Conflict by SpiRiTs 2024-10-24T14:48:24Z

@emmagsmith Thanks so much for your feedback! We're very perplexed at what is causing the crash, sorry about that!

Ant war! by nikor 2024-10-13T20:47:39Z

I'm a Javascript noob, but I enjoyed this game! I couldn't beat level 5, but overall one of my favorite games this jam. Reminds me of Bitburner

Critter Wrangler by LelulaGames 2024-10-09T15:21:56Z

This game is sort of eerie! Some genuinely unique moments that probably weren't intended as horror, but I feel were very engaging. Stand out for me is when you interact with the flower, I love how the eyes look strangely human. Some issues with rendering occur, especially when you first load in. The water seems to overlap onto the world infront of me at times. You could also billboard some textures, it's hard to make out what I'm looking at sometimes. I like the character design, the music is chill, it's a cozy game (Yet eerie for me personally!). I'd love to see something like this where the game gets progressively more bizarre and spooky depending on how many creatures you collect, similar to the popular fake ARG game "Petscop". A nice experience with some rough edges, overall it's great for a solo project. Very well done :)!

Cell la vie! by picttarge 2024-10-08T21:49:32Z

Cool game you got here! Reminds me a lot of Spore. I find the pacing is just a tad too slow, I never felt any real challenge. You have a great artistic style going on here though, it feels very "right" for this type of game. Well done! :)

Tiny Elevator by webDrag0n 2024-10-08T00:48:45Z

A very nice game! I enjoyed the stressful feelings of juggling the passengers in the elevator, particularly when the second elevator came in. I feel it could have used some more challenge however, as the minimum $ to obtain stayed the same throughout the game. It's not very viable to try and negate all of the -5 debuffs, so I largely stuck to just filling up my elevators with the floors directly below and above the entrance lobby. Still addicting though! :)

I particularly enjoyed the music on the main menu, I think the VSTs used are put together very tastefully, the brass in particular is a standout sound. I'm envious you can write swing this well! (By the way, it appears that the volume slider in your settings is broken.)

Graphically I felt overwhelmed at first, I didn't realise what was going on as it felt very visually packed. However, once I pieced together that it is a child creating a lego tower, it clicked. It's a very cute concept, I like it a lot :)

Molly the Mole by Linus Szokody 2024-10-08T20:35:58Z

This game was scary! I did not expect the skeletal objects to come flying at me. I really enjoyed building my own sort of hunting trail to re-use, the whole experience felt very intuitive! Good job!

Tiny Tiny Tribes by James Wilson 2024-10-07T23:49:28Z

Cool game! I like the minimalist artstyle you have going on here :) I feel movement could be slightly more responsive, the glidy ice movement is nice, but I think toning it down slightly would be good. The difficulty is pretty tough later on, but it feels very doable. Well balanced, and interesting decision making involved with your party line-up. Maybe a minor thing, but I feel it would be good to pay twice as much for the tribe size increase, and receive 2 slots instead of 1. I liked the cute "hahah!" sound effect so much ahhahaha, it was charming.

My high score was 1969, lets see if anyone beats it. (They probably will!)

Need For Snail:midnight by AegisFate 2024-10-08T20:19:36Z

Cool game, only found it because of the whole weird commenting situation lol. Glad I did, it's visually phenomenal. Some moments that were slightly frustrating involved obstacles that needed me to duck, some weren't avoidable due to too many being too close together, it felt as though there was little counter play on my part.

I super duper love the UI design, I think it's very charming and sorta retro! One of the better games this jam for sure!

Waggle! by TROGDOR 20X6 2024-10-08T01:34:16Z

Interesting game, I feel it has some potential given some polish. I wasn't able to really control my bees or influence them aside from one accidental moment. It felt a bit unintuitive, but maybe I just suck!

Nice interpretation of the theme, I think beehives work quite well.

Paquito by PoutreLoutre 2024-10-08T12:58:52Z

Very cute game, the character design reminds me of Sackboy from LBP, honestly super lovely to get that nostalgia! I think you have a great concept, given some more polish I could see this being a very fun and hectic game :) Some things I noticed: Some models have no textures, puddle to the left of the stairs has a cube grid texture, a plank of wood past the right side door on the first floor has no texture, you can see outside of the map on the room on the left on the second floor.

I also think the game would really benefit from some "Coyote Time", you probably know the term already, but just an extra .4 seconds or so where you can jump after you walk off a ledge. This would be particularly beneficial as the camera angle makes it hard to judge when you are no longer on the floor. That brings me to my next point, the camera angle is a little jarring at times, I think it's a great choice to use this perspective as it brings out the manic energy of the game, but I think removing the ability to look downwards would help, just keeping it vertically fixed. I think it would also be nice to get some different perspectives on the player character, something like 8 different directions the sprite faces, depending on where you looked. I think that would be very awesome! Although I totally understand why you only have the two perspectives given the jam time limit. It looks good the way it is though, I think it's a super cute design.

I also feel it was too confusing to figure out I needed to use the shears on a hidden rope, I only managed to solve that puzzle due to sheer luck and ramming into random things. Overall this is one of the best games I've played this jam, I hope you make more like it :)

[Unfinished] LD56 - Animal Warriors by JamesW 2024-10-08T21:16:09Z

Interesting mechanics! I think it's very unique as far as the game design went here regarding assigning dice to abilities. It's a good balance of managing random chance with player agency. Sadly I felt it wasn't very fair at times, enemies would rapidly gain shields at a pace faster than I could deal with. This chicken player unit is now my sworn enemy! The ice attack is not very useful! Curse you chicken! All jokes aside I think this game has some potential, if you polished it up and added more content I think it could be very good! Well done! :)

Laverino by Kirass 2024-10-08T20:11:05Z

I had some issues with the camera constantly spinning around, but I see the vibes you're going for here :) I didn't really feel the horror elements too much here, but I'm also glad it wasn't a jumpscare fest. Nice game :) EDIT: My rating of your game is changed to be lower to reflect your foul play in this event.

DR.SPIDER by Michael Li 2024-10-08T00:14:57Z

Interesting game! I overall enjoyed the music, some nice ideas used with different instruments popping in and out. I feel at times it was a bit too abrupt, particularly in when the texture drops back down to the piano. Maybe it would have been good to sustain the notes briefly. The chord progression on the keyboard was very smooth, I enjoyed the transitions and tensions used, but be careful with the sustain pedal on the piano. If the notes are held for too long the texture can feel a bit choked, and sometimes muddy. Using some rests would make this good composition really shine! :)

I feel you had a very strong concept gameplay wise, but it was bogged down by the choice of controls. Juggling WASD + F + Mouse movements/clicks requires a bit too much dexterity in my opinion, but when I got the hang of it I was enjoying myself :)

ANTventure Time by Dywanix 2024-10-08T21:00:22Z

Very chill experience, some things did confuse me though. For example, when I clicked on one of the expansion pickaxes, it just replaced itself with a new one with 1000 ants required. Truly a metaphor for pointless warfare! A philosophical masterpiece. All jokes aside I very much enjoyed this game, nice graphics, reminds me of the golden era of mobile gaming. Very well done :)

Espionausage: Wiener Takes All by IonBingo 2024-10-07T23:24:01Z

Very cute game :) I love casino style stuff in general, so this is a big hit for me. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the bet if it was possible, I could only go all in every time. This became an issue in one instance where I had 20, it would be a very poor choice for me to hit on that, but no way to manage the risk of dealer getting a 21. Maybe I just didn't understand the game though.

I must say I'm a fan of the sausage mechanic, I love how it changes perspective! Very cute and silly, a much appreciated shift in tone (Even if the table has Dracula playing too).

I liked the choices of VSTs, it has a retroish midi style which is pretty nostalgic.

I think a tutorial might be in order, but I liked this game a lot :)

MushMush by Leykal 2024-10-08T02:22:02Z

Interesting concept! Graphically the game is very nice, although some of the monsters look a bit like they're still sketches. Still very impressive in that regard! I wasn't a great fan of hunting which level objects can be moved to reveal clues, especially when there are many ways to move an object, some of which not revealing the clue. I also noticed after a certain point the music stops looping, you didn't have a sound engineer or musician on the team it seems so I can understand how this slipped through. Overall I think the concept of looking for clues could be very strong! Maybe shifting away from exclusively numbers would be interesting, perhaps broadening into different logic puzzles of a similar nature (i.e ordering different hints into a compiled answer). Great work :)

Quackling Rescue by Laywelin 2024-10-08T22:25:05Z

Dude I love the fire SFX, all of the SFX even... It's silly and cute! I'm personally fine not bringing all of the ducks to the ending, I assume that's a "bad end" I got for only bringing 10. The way I see it, it's survival of the fittest! Jokes aside I enjoyed this game a lot, it has a lot of charm (Especially in the audio department). Cute art, and a unique gameplay concept. Well done :)

Dustbun Shepherd by detectivedirk 2024-10-08T21:10:30Z

Cool game! Came here because of the House M.D profile picture lolol. I enjoyed the puzzle solving, but unfortunately my game crashed! I sort of deserved it though, I was spamming the undo key and trying to enter a room at the same time. (While doing this I caught a glimpse of the dust bunny's true form, it was horrifying! I needed to see it again and again!)

Overall, your game has interesting problem solving issues that scratch the puzzle itch correctly. Well done :)

Lampyridae by Taralunga Victor 2024-10-08T20:41:09Z

A simple yet fun game. I enjoyed the stress of hunting down more fuel for our firefly friend here, but at times I felt cheated by the maze design. At points I headed down long corridors for little to no reward, only to backtrack and run out of light. I also noticed the player character freaks out when you stay still, only a small issue though.

Short and sweet is how I would describe this game, good job :)

BoomSquad by m_anya 2024-10-08T21:35:26Z

Game doesn't work, you linked to your C drive... It also looks like a carbon copy of Bomberman, is this an AI generated post? I'll play your game and eat my words if you can post a web version that's a unique game though!

The cylinder invasion: You better be in good shape by Riv 2024-10-13T17:03:55Z

Love the Daleks lol, my main criticism would be the lack of variety in tower types. It might have been interesting to see common tower defense buildings like slowing towers, burn damage, etc, however for a solo jam game I can respect what you've put together! I thought it was cute and enjoyed the humour from the narrator/announcer.
