The butter is so cute !!
This is really lovely little puzzle platformer. The art for the lil butter guy is absolutely delightful!
Love this little butter. As someone who lives in a place where everybody *love* butter, i can't not like this game. I found the biscuit sound FX a little too loud, and it seems that on the "butter my biscuit" level, i did'nt understood how to get the third star.
A music loop a little longer could be nice too. Love the concept of the buttery creature.
Good job!
This game could be a winner here, because it has A LOT of mechanichs. Everyhting here is awesome starting from animations and levels and finishing with visual style. Great work, guys!
It has some super meat boy vibes, super butter boy maybe? Grate work!
You’ve really wiggled in the smoothness of this game! It’s rich with charm and glides effortlessly from one margarine-ly funny moment to the next. Every challenge is well-spread across the levels, and the attention to detail just melts into the experience. The flow is seamless, and the whole thing is just... buttery perfection!
..... BUTTER.
Love the squishy butter animations! Fun feeling movement as well :)
Hey nice work! Love love the concept and mechanics. Just some random feedback that I listed:
-Initially, I didn’t realize the bar at the top represented my health—I mistook it for a progress indicator showing how far I’d traveled from start to finish. -It took me a moment to figure out what the sparkles were for, so maybe this would be a good opportunity to introduce a tip or tutorial. -I love the wall sliding mechanic! Sliding down incline ramps would be a great addition, though I know that could be tricky to implement. -The introduction of mechanics felt a bit slow. Having one level per mechanic made it feel like a while before getting to the wall sliding. It might be more engaging to introduce new mechanics faster.
reminds me of old game boy platformers. the jiggly butter animations were so good
Easily the most adorable butter in the world.
Great job with the wall jump mechanics! Those are usually pretty tricky to pull off.
The surprise traversal shake-up near the end was a delight!
Really like the idea of limited distance I can travel, especially once you introduce the burners to sap my health. Overall, though, I wanted more out of the movement; there's so much potential for momentum-based sliding and launching, but as is I feel rather stiff for a stick of butter. Platformers live and die by how good they feel to control, and I just feel like the game is missing that little bit of juice & the spark of something unique.
Side note, the music got annoying pretty quickly, so I ended up muting it.
The art was really good, especially loved the variety of mechanics explored in the levels. I also liked the dancing butter at the end of the level. A victory screen for when all levels completed would have been a nice touch, but regardless, this game is amazing.
Wiggly!
Everything felt pretty solid here. Wall jumping is a bit iffy but I think this is user error rather than any kind of mechanical issue.
Jump lengths were tight in a few spots (The last one in Feel the Burn got me a few times...), I think a lot of it is just due to his very long hitbox, which is the nature of the butter here.
Game has some clear mechanical escalation and I good decision making on tutorialization and helping the player when they fail to solve the obvious puzzle you placed before them.
Nice work!
Character is super cute and sound was so nostalgic <3 Was super easy to learn to play too. I lost in the burners and couldn't figure out how to get past that. Nice work on the game :)
Brought back fond and frustrating DK Country memories
What a beautifully executed game! The gameplay feels very smooth and actually fun, and the idea itself is just *chef's kiss*
This was really cute! i love how the butter moves and that its life depends on how much it looses while sliding around. Controls feel as smooth as butter too :D
This was a pretty decent platformer, especially in just a few days. The character and art are enjoyable, and the levels offer a good mix of completable vs. mastery. The wall jump feels pretty rough, but I'll be honest I'm not sure how it could be done better without a lot more coding/dev time. I wish level progression was a bit better balanced. Some later levels felt too easy, while some earlier ones felt too difficult to get 3 stars. Also the wall jump could have been introduced earlier to add more level variance. It felt odd to have a tutorial screen pop up after like, 10 levels with nothing between. Great work!
Cute artstyle and really nice level design
I am so committed to reuniting the butter with it's siblings and if it is the last thing I will do! The butter animations are dead cute and I was about to make a butter pun but I have been beaten to it. Great job :)
Cool game! I liked it.
aaaauh this is LOVELY! every time I put butter in the pan when I make food now I will think of this. A Ton of charm and lovely visuals and audio. High marks from me here. Wonderful!
OMG!!!!I love it1
I kept saying one more level, and then one more, and then one more.... It wasn't until I got to the section of double wall jumps that I decided I needed to stop. I love that you're collecting salt and bits of butter to keep from melting.
Nice entry. There was a lot of level design in this one as the hazards grew level by level. It being butter and all, having some kind of momentum while moving will add a bit more to the experience.
YO! This is a crazy amount of levels to have in a jam game, let alone so many varied ones! Charming cast too, I absolutely love the radical rye!
This little butter fella is on a roll. get it cause he was on a bread...
I love the butter animations and the energy bar is a very nice addition!
Hi there!
As a French person, I love the idea of playing a piece of butter ahah :) The graphics are very pretty, as is the music (although I would have liked the loop to be longer, because I got bored listening to it, but that's really a detail). In terms of gameplay elements, I didn't understand the effect of salt. Otherwise, all UI elements are very easy to understand (energy bar is perfect). 10/10 for the level design, progressive and challenging! The tutorials could do with a bit more visibility (change font size or type, or placement?). All in all, your game is a great success. Bravo!
I like the multi-level layout and wall-to-wall jumping. You may have skimped on the graphics, but you made a lot of interesting levels!
The butter is so cute and really beautiful level design!
How did you crammed all those levels in 72 hours?? Amazing game! great job
Great work you two! The butter character is adorable and now I fear I'll be spending the next who knows how long trying to 3-star every level xD
An adorable funny game, which I enjoyed playing
Very cute little platformer!
Nice little game, loved the idea of the butter losing life as it walked around as it spread over the platforms; also I really loved the cute little sprite of the butter hugging the wall :D The only thing I'd change is the game progression, making it a bit steeper: no need (especially in a game jam) to have a lot of pretty simple levels at the beginning, I'd prefer to see earlier something more challenging and with the more "advanced" mechanics (like the wall jump), that otherwise people could miss by just playing the first levels.
The butter is a cutie. The animation it does when I reach the goal is everything. Overall love the animation! I like you even did a separate one for when I juuust make the corner and start falling down.
The jumping sound felt maybe a bit too loud and intrusive. While BG music is gorgeous but much quieter.
Overall, a cute platformer idea, I liked it a lot <3
butta dawg
This game was such a delight! The butter character is absolutely adorable, and I loved the smooth animations, especially when it hugs the wall or does a little celebration at the end of a level. The concept of butter losing life as it moves around is super clever, and the level design felt well-paced. My only suggestion would be to introduce the wall jump a bit earlier, as it adds a fun challenge that could spice up the earlier levels. Overall, a buttery smooth experience with lots of charm!
Very nice platformer! The cute butter is an awesome protagonist!
The graphics don't fit together very well in my opinion, there's the pixelated butter and obstacles, some of the background art is not pixelated, plus those lamps are quite distracting (I thought they act as walls multiple times).
There is a lot of content in this game, the fully working wall jump was cool but then I found the 'toast surfing' (?) levels, wow! Impressive!
Thank you everyone for playing Butter Time and the great responses and quality feedback! <3

I love the butter idea! Extremely cute! The jumping mechanic is pretty smooth, and I am surprised that I can stick to the side of the shelf for a while and drop. Love this so much!
The butter sliding around as well as the background of it was a delight to play through! I am not good at platformers but it was interesting to do so as a stick of butter. The little animations for it being on the stove was so cute too. Butter parkour, who knew that it was something that we needed in our lives?
definetly meatboy vibes, piece of butter jump was hillarious
Lovelly game. Loved the concept of it. Specially putting the cuttlery and the oven. the Art concept was Very well design
