LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Traction Bugs by TimBeaudet 2024-10-13T13:33:55Z

Quite a fun game, controlling this swarm of bugs is way more difficult than you'd imagine!

Had some fun trying to complete the courses with as few as possible bugs surviving,. It's just too much fun watching them slam into walls.

Leapo Froggo by zwartraider 2024-10-13T13:41:35Z

Love those graphics! How others got such high scores is a mystery to me, I didn't catch many points... my poor froggo had to starve quite a bit.

Very fun and addicting!

Colony Clash by stormburpee 2024-10-13T13:21:30Z

The cards are quite difficult to read on the bottom, figuring out the text is near impossible. I also had problems spawning the pets, it seems like there is only a very small area where the card must be dragged to successfully turn into an animal.

Also, joining others here, the graphics partially look very AI-ish

Sworm by p-r 2024-10-13T13:26:38Z

_Very_ difficult game, whoa. Never managed to live more than three seconds.

Butter Time by TomPendergrass 2024-10-10T17:41:34Z

Very nice platformer! The cute butter is an awesome protagonist!

The graphics don't fit together very well in my opinion, there's the pixelated butter and obstacles, some of the background art is not pixelated, plus those lamps are quite distracting (I thought they act as walls multiple times).

There is a lot of content in this game, the fully working wall jump was cool but then I found the 'toast surfing' (?) levels, wow! Impressive!

Duck Rescue Patrol by rkhadder 2024-10-13T13:39:07Z

Tossing those little ducklings around is quite fun! Well done, looking forward to more levels :)

Snail away by Thomas_Bringer 2024-10-13T13:43:17Z

This is absolutely awesome, I love that mechanic! Graphics and Audio are very fitting too. It's so cute and relaxing but at the same time also challenging sometimes, well done. Ten out of ten!

Plan Bee by JHax 2024-10-13T12:54:02Z

I misread the instructions and constantly tried to escape the red bugs on my first run :confounded:

The idea is definitely great, but the game is quite unclear at times, I found it hard to follow what is happening. The upgrades pop up a bit too often in my opinion, disrupting gameplay quite a bit. But with some polishing this could turn into an awesome game!

Tiny Economy by Hawkin 2024-10-13T13:15:05Z

A very calm experience, very welcomed! It felt a bit dragged out in the middle / end, there's simply not happending a lot and it doesn't feel like my choices had a big impact. It is very nice to see the landscape coming together, the graphics fit really well!

Microphage by ATN 2024-10-13T13:31:24Z

It feels like you depend way too much on luck here, both on the creatures appearing at the top, and the combinations. Getting the bigger combos was quite difficult, especially when sometimes part of them would also qualify as a smaller combo, removing a part of the unfinished big combo. On the flipside, the play field is huge considering you'll only drop one at a time.

Burn EM‘ All by Lzic 2024-10-09T15:14:00Z

Very cool game! The graphics and sound are awesome, though the 3D floor looks a bit weird.

The gameplay quickly feels stale though. You just end up following these creatures with your mouse. With some variation this game could get quite addicting! Something like lingering flames on the ground or multiple focus points, just as quick ideas :)

Tiny Trails by Custodi 2024-10-09T15:08:39Z

Great idea and very cute little creatures! I love how they stare at you and sometimes move their eyes around, it makes them look like they are constantly wondering what I'm about to fail next.

It wasn't clear to me at which distance the creatures would react to the mouse. I struggled with the yellow ones, it seems like they always launch full speed but if you click just a few pixels too far away, they don't react at all. I think a "further away = less speed" mechanic would've helped there.

The yellow ones are also pretty bad at rolling (well, they are triangles) which caused them to jump into the air a few times when I wanted them to slide along the ground. This was quite frustrating, they always jumped right into black creatures.

I also feel like automatically resetting the level / going to the next one would help a lot, currently it is a bit annoying to do the extra click. Also there's no indication that a level is no longer possible, I spent a lot of time getting three yellows one through the course without realizing I needed four :confounded:

Don't Touch My Sandwich by FrikiLight8 2024-10-13T12:40:19Z

Very fun and funny game, it hooked me immediately and though I often failed quite quickly I always wanted to try again, survive a bit longer, kill more ants... They can be difficult to see from a distance, and the fact that they can spawn behind you gives you a uncomfortable feeling, always having to turn your head everywhere and see if some tiny thieves try to sneak up to you. Well done!

Happy Bees by Lunaria Rava 2024-10-07T20:55:38Z

Hey @nicolas-diniz, Godot only supports HTML Export for games written with GDScript. Since I've used C#, I can't make a web build :/

Happy Bees by Lunaria Rava 2024-10-09T15:46:42Z

Thank you all for your kind feedback!

I sadly had no time to add any Audio, I wish I could've added at least some BGM. It does indeed feel stale without .

@zhuub "Dorfromantik but with bees" is how I explained it to friends of mine, too  it originally started with square tiles, but I had to change it - what would a bee game be without hexagons?

Happy Bees by Lunaria Rava 2024-10-11T12:50:52Z

@tesseract A score of 180 is very impressive! The game definitely loses some playability at such scores. This is something I delayed for a potential post-jam version, resizing to fullscreen introduced too many UI bugs...

Thank you very much for playing & for your feedback!

Stacoon by Wesel 2024-10-10T18:00:19Z

I liked the game, however it feels like it is similar to many older Flash puzzle games and didn't really bring anything new to the table (except for those cute raccoons, of course). The stacking, needing a key, travelling through pipes are all often seen in such games  launching the blue raccoon was a nice touch but not often necessary.

The levels were quite short in my opinion, it often was obvious from the start what you should do and in what order. But I see that there's not much time in a jam for designing compicated levels.

The physics were quite erratic, but as someone who worked with Godots physics engine before (well, tried to) I absolutely understand that struggle to get it working - it is a mess

Familiar Bones by barryrichter 2024-10-09T22:05:18Z

Beautiful art and sound, touching story!

The colliders are really unforgiving though. I got stuck permanently three times and had to restart, was able to finish it on fourth try.

There's not much gameplay in it, but the cuteness makes up for that!

DRONE BRIGADE by Gaalsien 2024-10-09T15:22:36Z

I like the idea but I got lost so quickly. The first level was already very difficult, I think you should give players a bit more time to learn the controls :) could be just me being slow though.

It would be great to have the shortcut numbers shown above the robots, I often selected the wrong robot and then the purple one ended up trying to repair holes or something...

I dislike the use of AI though, especially in a game jam.

Daredevil Ant by unloosed 2024-10-13T12:49:40Z

The idea of barely dodging the raindrops is a nice new spin! I definitely was way too thrill-seeking, never lasted longer than ten seconds haha. I also join previous comments here, the hitboxes / feedback could be clearer.

Tiny, Young, Dumb by oldzombie14 2024-10-13T13:24:23Z

I'm a bit lost here, what's the goal here? I thought I had to send red+blue to detention but nothing happens afterwards, did I miss something?

Dwarven Depth Runner by Ausstein 2025-04-15T09:18:48Z

It's quite addicting, though I didn't manage to go very far. Triggering one trapdoor by accident makes it impossible to see if there's another one close, and I ended up triggering multiple trapdoors in a row.

Great art and sound!

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-17T18:33:43Z

Very interesting idea! The levels were quite straightforward, but with more development time this could become a really complex puzzle game. The graphics are fitting and the subtle sound effect perfect for a game like this!

The Deepest Borehole by Lunaria Rava 2025-04-20T08:03:00Z

@oliver-day The world is generated in chunks. In every chunk a few random positions are chosen where the ores are then spawned, with the help of a noise function to get some variation.

The chunk generation is likely the reason for the freeze frames

Drifting Granny by the-cellist 2025-04-15T09:11:28Z

Great idea! I like the graphics, the water shader looks especially cool. Interesting gameplay too, though it can get a bit stale with the anchor sinking quite slowly.

I found the music a bit irritating. Playing with headset, I heard it only on the right side, the second instrument then only on the left side - is this intended?

Debt Miner by fungus mundus 2025-04-17T18:54:11Z

Looks like we had a very similar idea haha!

I really like the concept, but was missing a clear goal to work towards, like "go 1000 tiles deep" or "collect 100 gems", and a reward for it - bigger explosives, the ability to dig in multiple tiles in a straight line with a single click instead of one by one, something like that. Just continuously digging / exploding straight down gets boring and repetetive quickly.

The sleep mechanic felt a bit underwhelming, as it is just one more click to continue digging. This could be improved by something changing over night - tunnels collapsing, enemies spawning or ores moving somehow.

Where the Stars End by Aristos-Interactive 2025-04-08T20:47:12Z

Nice idea! I found that running out of fuel seems to be no problem at all, as long as you have enough ammo to defend yourself. Also, you can reach negative speed and go back through earth :D
