Cool game! I like the art style and the rolling mechanic is neat!

Cool game! I like the art style and the rolling mechanic is neat!
This is excellent! I love the snail's visuals and the innovative movement mechanics. Fantastic job.
Lovely visuals, innovative gameplay, fun mechanics, really polished and well presented. What's not to like about this game? A very good entry. Hard to believe that you managed to make this in only two days! Great job, keep making awesome stuff!
@rachelftech Thanks for playing!
@knipsch Thank you so much, appreciate it!
@historymaker118 Heyy, means a lot to me, thanks mate!
That's game is so perfect !! I like it so much, very cute, and the sound effect of the snail is perfect !! I WANT TO EAT YOUR SNAIL BC SO MUCH CUTE !!!
Once I openned the itch page I recongnized you! The priciple's-office vector-graphic damn-good-web-design guy!
So complete and smart in terms of graphic (Of course for that vector-graphic damn-good-web-design guy), sound, and mostly gameplay itself! Mechanic-wise it's a very good plantformer. Love a lot of how that front layer of shadows works as visual guidance, this fancy trick only appears in good games where designers cares a LOT, and this is it!
(This time the itch page doesn't merge once game started, so a bezle-in-game could help)
Wow, how did you do those mechanics, very curious. The snail sprite vibrates a bit when moving. Nice and fun game, great job.
@wo-ri-gou-le Hey thanks! Glad to hear my vector style is recognizable that's pretty cool you found me again haha!
@oldtoadpower Thanks! The whole snail coding is a bit involved haha. From a physics point of view it switches from a Character Body that tries to attach to surfaces to a Rigid Body when in the shell. From a graphics point of view the snail consists of a shell sprite and a line made of points to make the tail, all procedurally animated. The tail tries to attach to the surface using raycasts. Hope that makes some sense, not so easy to explain in such few words!
really nice game. I loved how the physics is used here and a beautiful graphics. Now, Sonic the hedgehog has a true challenger here.
Very smooth!!
Guys we got a gem here ! Art, smoothness of the controls, even itchio page is awesome. Amazing job
I forget : IT HAS SNAILS
Shrooms blasted me straight outta my shell!
This definitely could turn into something Foddy-esque in the right (or wrong?) hands, though, incredible work!
Wow this is really impressive! Feels great to control, very nice art, and I love all the sounds. Super cool, well done!
@smiley405 Thanks for playing!
@yanranranyan Thanks!
@smogobingo I appreciate it man, thank you!
@ccollider Yeaaah so true! After making the physics I considered turning it into a rage game honestly.
@tad-i-guess Heyyy thanks, means a lot!
Very good looking game, the sounds are also nice and fitting. Rolling and falling on the web teleports you. I think it would be nice if there was a little bit more challenge to the game play, even if it was only optional.
A very cool game (so far the best I've played) I liked everything from the implementation and idea of the game to the smooth animation of the environment. The style is cool, minimalistic, pleasing to the eye. The gameplay is simple and I really liked it. Good work!!
Very nice game. The graphics and sound is great. Love the snail being able to move over every surface, and little touches like the leaves bending. Is very linear and not challenging but shows the off the platforming concepts nicely.
@ellaris Yep, I'm aware of the bugs, and I agree that some optional challenges would be great! Thanks for the feedback.
@karamelika22 Thanks, appreciate it!
@harmadillo Thanks, glad you like it!
The flat graphics work super well for this! The use of parallax and animated elements is neat, and the sounds fit just right too. My only complaint would be the time it takes to crawl from one place to another early on but then I'd be literally complaining about snails being too slow.
image_2024-10-08_214356027.png
Very good game, nice graphics and audio, the snail controller is amazing, I was blown away :D This game wins for me so far.
This game knocks it out of the park Great. visuals, good Audio, fun level design. Amazing results for a 48 hours solo project. I dare to say, you (s)nailed it!
Excellent! The movement is so smooth and snail-like! Amazing work on the animation. The level design is perfectly done to highlight the different game mechanisms (the mushrooms surprised me so much :)). There is no difficulty, making it a very nice and relaxing experiment.
My only two caveats are the picking sfx being too loud/high pitch compared to the music, the control being reverse when you are upside down (if you stop moving and start again, you have to press what seems to me the wrong button... I have no correct interaction that would feel good to offer)
Game was cool, and I love the soundtrack! The church bells in the distance added a really neat atmosphere, even if I wasn't quite sure how it related to snails :)

Overall I think one of my favorite compo entries so far. Simple yet has a very clear and polished design. The platforming idea is executed very well! Nice job!
The moving slime-y sounds were disgusting (compliment)! Very nice simple gameplay with some building mechanics. Wish there were more jumps like that one that tells you to use space roll into a ball, that was really fun and I was sad it only happened once! Awesome entry
Loved the art. The sticking to the walls and rolling mechanics were great would love to see it expanded upon.
very polished, short and sweet
I was able to do only 33/35, I don't know where were the ones I've missed :D Either way, the game looks and feels great. The art is not the most complex one, but it's simple and clean, which I love. And the mechanics are just WOW. Great game, congrats!
Got all 36 ladybugs. I love the physics and overall mood. Great job!
Reminded me of Fancy Pants. I am so impressed you did this in two days. Nice style.
Absolutely love the concept and execution, a bit short but great mechanics, good job :)
This is a really complete and well done entry for the compo. I had a lot of fun playing it. It was super intuitive, the music and sound effects were great, and the gameplay was fun. When it was done I was sad because I wanted to play more! Nice job!
First of all thanks everyone folks, I am overwhelmed by the good response! :fire:
@shp Thanks! Yup, tried to find a balance between snails being slow and fun gameplay haha
@bromakesgames Wow thanks!
@noobman64 Haha thanks!
@dhim Yup, I experimented with another control scheme where it flips your input when you release a key and are upside down. In the end, it seemed more complicated than it should be, so I changed back to the current input scheme. But it's a matter of preference, and I think it would be great to have that as a setting.
@sudocoffee Yeah dunno either but I thought it gave a nice chill vibe. Thanks!
@dingbat Thanks, appreciate it!
@adam-konig I can't agree more, I wanted to make the game twice as long in the beginning! I feel like both the rolling mechanic and the mushrooms are underused. But you know what it's like to cut the scope of a game haha
@ricksquanchez Thanks for playing!
@smothbreen Thank you!
@mikeandtherest Hey thanks! Usually the 2 that people miss are actually quite near the start :)
@erasemenot Wow there's only 35 though haha, thanks!
@mortusnegati Thanks! Didn't know about Fancy Pants before but after looking at it I clearly see the similarity.
@pimeko Thanks a lot!
@pres2300 Thank you so much, yep wish I had time for more levels!
Solid game! I love the sticking to everything mechanic it works so well and instantly messes with my perception on what is left and right xD The overall feel is also very good with the music and the sound effect, well done!
Very well put together game! Really polished on all fronts: visuals, audio, gameplay. I enjoyed my time with it sliding and rolling around. At times it reminded me a little bit of the old Fancy Pants Adventure game, where you need to run and slide up the curvy ramps and kick the ball to roll down them as well - I don't really know what made that connection in my head, I guess it's just the cozy vibe, the smooth procedural animations and the rolling parts. Great job, thanks for making it!
@mantsje Thanks, appreciate it!
@detectivelosos Thank you so much!
I absolutely adore the little snail, especially the way it spins inside its shell! The mood and atmosphere are truly captivating, and everything runs soooo smoothly. Amazing work—it's hard to believe this was all done in just 48 hours!
My compliments to the artist and sound designer, and of course, a big round of applause to the programmer, whose refined mechanics captivate the player right from the start.
@lerkd Heyyy thanks!
@ecaterina Hey that's super cool to hear... cause there was just me working on the game! :joy:
Nice graphics and animations, simple but effective. Great job!
nice graphics and mechanics, great job!
Very impressive game, nice music, nice graphics, and very original and innovative "platformer" mecanics. One suggestion: I felt punished VERY hard (having to restart from the beginning) three times when I saw that I should press space the first time. To me, space is for jumping, and I thought my timing was wrong? So either put a "fallback" platform or something very close so I don't get punished that much, or place the "space" sign above, where I should actually press it?
Overall very very impressed with the game and its polish, congratulations!
Really like this procedural animated snail and physical mechanisms! And really wish to explore a larger world and more levels!
@betovf Thanks!
@vorovcka Thank you!
@magopian Oh I get you, will keep that in mind if I expand the game. Thanks for playing!
@brucezoom Thanks! Yup I had to cut that scope down obviously haha
Really impressive game, I like these physics and how the snake goes from one layer to another. The audio and the graphics are amazing, it's really polished. It's just a bit short.
Would have been an impressive achievement to have done the system for the snail and also make a level that highlights it within the jam's time frame, but you managed it within compo. Nicely done :D
Very short, but amazing physics! I like the little details like the moving leaves when you crawl over them. The controls were tight and I especially liked the rolling of the snail.
The foreground objects were too big in my opinion and covered too much of the screen. Keeping it down or maybe make them transparent would solve this.
The overall graphics were simple, but stylish. Everything blended well together. Nice job! :)
I loved the art style. It is so interesting what you can do with a little procedural animation. The game itself was simple, but the sticking/rolling mechanic has potential. I wish the game had a few more trick spots.
It's solid! I really love the sticking to the ceiling. Great art and sound too!
Thomas, let me put it this way.. wow! No, this way: WOOOW.. no no, this way: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW ! This is one of the most satisfying games I have seen in this jam! If not the most! Being a snail has never been that good-feeling :smile: !
I gotta say this is the most *cohesive* entry I've played, ranking you very very high.. Polish is superb and big congrats to doing something *different*.
> Go go, happy snail, you *spider-snail*, rock it all! XD
PS: you gotta do sth more with this. E.g. I felt like I wanted 35 levels, not one.. haha!
Screenshot 2024-10-10 201934.png
Cool idea, great implementation, loved it till it suddenly ended :cry: 5/5
This was really satisfying to play once I got the hang of the mechanics! Very well polished, like the art alot, and the sounds are top notch :) well done!
I really like the art style, and how simple the game is. It is a creative little game for this game jam!
The sound design feels amazing and the movement was really well made by making the directions static, even with a "small" mechanic the game turns out to be entertaining
Wow, this is like super cool ! Never thought a game about snails could be this fun !
Love the way the game plays. The blend of platforming and tactics to position the snail correctly before droping onto a mushroom and soaring into the air. Everything feels pretty intuitive (except maybe the webs, looks like sometimes they stop the snails and other times they don't ?)
Love the art, love the music. Love the way you tied the credits into the game and even the little ladybug counter.
Everything feels super polished, rien à redire, franchement bravo !!
This was awesome and fun! I love how the snail jumps on mushrooms and rolls
Great work! The music and mood is very enjoyful, the vision from a snail is very attactive. You represented it!
I'm once again overwhelmed by everyone's great feedback, appreciate it a lot!
@mibi88 Thanks! Agree it's so short, had to cut the scope to make it to the deadline!
@frostbeak Yeah, a hectic weekend it was! Thanks for playing!
@lereveur Merci beaucoup c'est super gentil en plus quel plaisir de voir un françaissss
@lllarso Thank you so much! Agree that the foreground needs a bit more work
@angelalb Yeah, I wish I had more time to exploit the rolling mechanic!
@stuckne1 Thanks!
@aweskybear Wow, that's awesome to hear! You made my day!
@firellon Thanks, yeaaah so short right I know
@nickhellquist Thanks, appreciate it!
@martonel Thank you!
@obidiix-minusinfinity Thanks, glad you like the game's simplicity!
@kerdelos Merciii ! les toiles d'araignées buggent pas mal en effet x)
@ziobob Thanks, appreciate it!
@aentro Thank you, glad you like it!
Such a fun idea.It reminded me very much of the bob snail, which I loved
Hey very cool game! Art style is nice and consistent, snail character with sticking/rolling movement is great. Super job for the Compo!
This felt like a really enjoyable proof of concept, very well polished, looked great. My only criticism was I was hoping you'd maybe find more interesting puzzle mechanics to explore with the idea by the end.
A pleasant short game about a snail. I liked how the onboarding is integrated into the level, and the snail’s mechanic of hiding in its shell is interesting. I think these mechanics could be expanded into a full game if more puzzle levels were added. The graphics are also high-quality and consistent. Extra points for the physics of the snail’s body and the physical leaves it crawls on—really cool!
@dywanix Thanks!
@fnelix Thank you!
@perrin Sure, agreed. Thanks for playing!
@alexascher Thanks a lot!
Really nice, chill, and simple.
Movement mechanics is quite interesting! The visuals and audio were spot on, it was very nice game overall!
So chill and cozy ! a very cute and unique game ! I love how the escargot stick to stuff !
Capture d’écran 2024-10-13 151049.png
This is absolutely awesome, I love that mechanic! Graphics and Audio are very fitting too. It's so cute and relaxing but at the same time also challenging sometimes, well done. Ten out of ten!
I loved the art syle! it's absolutely great! too bad I suck too much at platformes and I couldn't finish the game. but I really enjoyed! great stuff
I am biased, but best game of the jam. :snail: I've played around with similar mechanics in the past but you did such a better job than I did. I'm surprised I didn't get stuck once when playing, very flexible movement. I'm struggling to think of any critical feedback. Audio sliders would be nice, but hard to fit in with time limit.
@deruitda Thanks!
@jiri-hysek Thank you, appreciate it!
@roroto-sic Thank you!
@lunaria-rava Wow thanks, glad you like it!
@bzoo345 Thanks for playing!
@thebooksnail Hey thanks, means a lot!
Awesome game, unbelievable that you did it in 48h i am blown away !
Super cute game! I love the little snail. The nice mix of rolling, and mushroom jumping to get the last few ladybugs was a lot of fun. The branches in the foreground.. They add dimension to the map, and also obscure things here and there when you're traveling across the branches, but not too much that I couldn't figure out where I was going. Only thing that was missing was a win screen, but I didn't get that done on my game either, lol.
Very creative mechanics! I really like the graphics and I'm impressed with how polished you got this done in 48h.
I came here because of your post, btw.
Very cute! The style was quite charming, and kudos for stylizing the itch page to match. The wall climbing mechanic was simple but effective, and detaching from walls was a neat way to keep it interesting. The mushrooms were the best part though, you got the bounce very satisfying! Good job with the music too, I enjoy the frog croaks. Overall, nice job!
Very good entry, congratulations ! I had a bug (that's the concept of the game) like an infinite loop a little before the end (in the fork), the game was not responding. I restarted it and I could play to the end without any issue (it was on the last Firefox).
The multiple mechanics you made with the concept (and their progressive introduction) are very interesting, the art is well polished and the animations are cool !
I ate 33 ladybugs. God, don't judge me for that! It was fun!!!
I can finally snail in peace!
Good game, feels very finished and polished. The music sets the vibes *just right*
OK this was really cute and super polished, with smooth movement and lots of juice. Really awesome that you managed all this in 48 hours, you should be proud! It feels like I'm playing fancy pants, but wit a snail! 🤩
almost got the 35 first try, i missed a few at the beginning haha
Ok, piling on the praise: Amazing work! I really love that despite being physics-based you still have control over where the can or can't go... I spent ages trying to break the jumps and leave-bends, trying to get somewhere I wasn't supposed to: but it was solid.
It was obvious I was in capable hands!
Really impressive compo game. You got quite a lot done! I like the art style, it's cute and very clean and polished. I love the music, it's cozy and light-hearted.
That was awesome! The mechanics, the art, the juicy feel of of the snail (both crawling and rolling) and the perfect sound. you really put the mechanic into use with really nice puzzles. Great work!
Very nice game! I love the art!
I liked the procedural animations and procedural snail. Kind of reminded me of slugcats from Rain World. Lovely.
lol upside down is so mindbending in control
Super juicy both the graphics and sound. Feels great to play, now it just needs some more levels.
@fataljg Hey thanksss!
@lelulagames Yup, ending was totally rushed, but you know: game jams haha
@andruid Thank you very much!
@shoppncart Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it!
@sebbernery Yeah, discovered that bug after the end, and the game will just freeze-I think it's an infinite while loop. Fortunately it does not happen *too* often, so sorry it fell on you!
@iroroi Haha thanks!
@holysparks Thank you, glad you liked the music!
@aviv-levy Thank you so much!
@enderswype Classic haha, half people miss the 2 at the beginning lol
@mrspeaker Thanks! Well the game has its lots of bugs, but by some miracle, they are quite rare. Seen from my developer perspective (and witnessed the buggy mess it used to be), it truly is a miracle that it plays without so many bugs in the end haha
@tinykidtoo Glad you liked the overall mood!
@brusi Thanks a lot!
@kultuk Thanks!
@petr-vejchoda Nice, haven't played Rain World yet, but it is on my list of games to play!
@magus77 Yep it is, experimented with other control schemes, but ended up picking the upside-down scheme. Some people are cool with it, some aren't, in the future a setting would probably be handy!
@silkworm-sweatshop Thanks! Yep it's definitely too short :')
WOW! This is AWESOME!! In so many ways... the art style... music... super satisfying mechanics... My fav might be the stretchiness when you launch off a mushroom. Feels so fun. Being able to stick to all kinds of surfaces and defy gravity in that form is also a nice take on what you would normally expect. The way the snail conforms to the surfaces is FANTASTIC. :smile: :heart_eyes: This is one of my top entries I think.
You can fix a breaking bug after the end of the competition, just say it in the game description :)
Great work! The game feels really complete for a Compo. The graphics are fantastic. I love the new gameplay ideas, they’re all so fun. And the game is super duper cute! One of the best Compo games I’ve played so far. Well done!
Really fun entry! Moving around as the snail felt completely natural and it was really cool finding unique ways to move around the level using the sticking mechanic, it was a really unique take on a 2D platformer. The audio and graphics also lent themselves really nicely to a cute and polished feel.
Rly liked the polish and artstyle, how you put some much work on getting it feeling right, making procedural animations and from what ive read on your post-mortem and from the little ive dabbled on the source code, it seems rly well made for a game jam game.
@scrapmetal Wow thank you so much!
@she-wrote Thank you very much!
@ex3d0 Thanks, glad you liked it!
@satless Thank you, appreciate it a lot!
Very well made game! :D Cute graphics, fitting music & sfx and fun mechanics! Nice.
What a great entry! Good mechanism and excellent implementation. Thanks so much for your postmortem and animation article, that's what we want to read here 👍 C'est vraiment la classe, tu as le niveau de skill que je rêverais d'avoir en game jam 😉 Clipboard 1.jpg
@gerrit Thank you so much, appreciate it!
@patbgames Merci trop gentil !
snail.png
This feels so good to play!
I rolled around a bit more than was necessary simply because the animation is so cute haha
Also: in two days??? How?! This feels so polished!
The game is great, I loved it! The idea is great, and it is very well implemented. The sound is amazing (especially the snail moving sound and the background music with the frog), the art is also amazing, and the movement feels great. Also love that you slide down if you just stay on a wall. The tail of the snail sometimes wiggle weirdly when you move thought convex corners. Also the foreground elements are sometimes distracting - they cover the view a bit too much.
I really like how seamlessly the snail switches from one platform to the next. You managed to implement a complex gameplay mechanic in a way that it feels intuitive and simple. Just doing that could take the whole weekend! The game itself is a little too easy but it's very understandable.
@sockenpuppe Thank you so much! The craziest part is that I really made the game in 1.5 days! Still crunched quite a bit to get it done though haha
@turturi Thanks, appreciate your attention to detail! I agree about the foreground, with more time I could fix it maybe!
@bradur Thanks! The snail itself indeed took like, half of development time, if not more haha
I love the sound design and music, great atmosphere and super smooth mechanics!
That movement is crazy satisfying! I'm impressed by how intuitive it felt to navigate the level in an unexpected way. The snail animation adds so much character to a unique concept. Awesome job!
Your game have so much polish! love it! Would never have guessed that this is a ludum dare project :O
Love the rolling mechanic and polish! The controls are really smooth!
Nice game with an amazing aesthetic. I love all these flatted colors. The main gameplay is really good and fits with the theme. The controls work well as expected. This tiny snail seems to me so alive. Its animation neck is a good idea. I have fun playing. Well done +
So slick! And slimy. It's just really nicely presented, starting on that gorgeous itch.io page with the thoughtful background design.
Seemed like the snail was at least partly a procedural mesh so that you could stretch it easily, and that you extended the same kind of vectorised graphics to everything else which made it all very nice and cohesive and scaled up to look great even on my 4K monitor in fullscreen mode.
The music is nice and the snail sounds are good. I especially like the shell sound when you drop.
Moving around at any angle without falling off (except at will!) is a lot of fun. It does get a little confusing at times pressing the opposite key to the direction you're actually going, but having to change keys would've been even worse so this is probably the best solution. Because you don't have to be fast, it's not really a problem. Just chilling out and collecting all those ladybugs (which is kind of a bizarre thing to do now that I really think about it, haha).
I don't really have any complaints except that it would've been fun to see more levels with more challenges but for a jam that's always a struggle of course. And this is a compo game too, so wow. Great job!!
(sorry, my comment posted twice)
Amazing compo entry! Everything from the art and sound to the controls and design feel so polished, amazes me that something like this can be made in only 48 hours! Great job!
Congrats! To be honest I expected you to be *at least* in top 3 ; ). Still, cheers! for lot's of us are in love with your game!
