LD39 — Running out of Power

A Night at Grandpa's by Kingethaniel 2017-08-01T01:29:01Z

Really good art and audio. Thought the mood was really good and that it really fit with theme. My only real gripe is it's really short with not much replay value :P but besides that its great :)

Power Trip by notime4games 2017-07-31T21:04:48Z

Overall the game is really solid. The biggest problem i think it has is that sometimes its just not possible to win, and other times its nearly impossible to lose. The algorithms you use to spawn the power supplies i think need work. Right now it seems like they're spawned almost at random. I had a few rounds where i could get the 1st power supply and then couldn't even reach it to the second one meaning there was no way for me to win. Other times I had gained so much speed that i could almost just stand completely still and collect enough power to go on for forever.

Otherwise the game is really solid and I think you could definitely turn it into a full game (possibly a mobile game? seems like what you're aiming for with this) :)

HellOnEarth by Dingbat 2017-08-01T02:14:18Z

@Wabble No i didn't use a shader as I'm not too familiar with them. What i did was, basically render 1 camera to a render texture with a resolution of 320x180, and then put that texture on a quad with a second camera aiming at it giving it a perfectly pixelated look (in unity 5 obviously.) I'm sure there's more than likely a more efficient way of doing this but hey it works :)

enge spin by tommie96 2017-07-31T20:34:39Z

Black screen for me as well. I can hear sounds but can't see anything :C

Windows 10 64bit, i7 6700k, gtx 1070, in case you're wondering specs

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-07T23:00:32Z

Really great idea nice job!

LD54 — Limited Space

Terminal Noise by fusionnist 2023-10-03T22:19:46Z

Really unique game! Love the music and the puzzle solving has a lot of discovery to it. I was also stuck on level 6 for the longest time. Eventually I realized you can enter rooms from different directions and so I came in from the top rather than the bottom. Nice job!

SDS: Space Delivery Service by wisstopher 2023-10-03T21:55:38Z

Awesome game! Loved the atmosphere and the game plays very well. Loved the little twist at the end. Could absolutely see you making a good sci-fi horror game.

Piper by Kjip 2023-10-03T22:40:02Z

Fun game! My only problem was not enough levels haha

Hunt for Emperor Littlefin by Pincushion 2023-10-04T10:24:10Z

Honestly I thought the controls worked fine, really loved the exploration and design of the level and enemies. I don't think there was any audio but I think that would have really added a lot to the game. Some more feedback from taking damage and dealing damage would really help make the game feel better in my opinion. Overall great entry! nice job!

Shipping Empire by PerfectSquare 2023-10-03T22:36:53Z

Ah man I can't play games like this. I played the first round for about 15 minutes, crammed every crew member possible with food and water and then realized it keeps going haha. Fun game, maybe it's just something in my brain but finding ways to fit things together is super satisfying. With maybe some audio for each item you grab or some other interactive elements I could totally see this being a full game. Nice job!

Space Stitcher by kaliuresis 2023-10-04T11:02:59Z

Really interesting concept that has potential! However I do think you need more of a grace period with the levels. level 1 I had to look at pictures of the game to figure out and level 2 I couldn't figure out without finding your video. I think if you added around 4-5 levels before these levels the difficulty curve would work a lot better. Look at the game portal for example. The first level is literally just the portal opens for you and you have to pick up a box. Some simple starter levels explaining the portal for you in simplest terms and maybe another level with jumping and a simpler level with interacting with your mirrored self would make the game easier to grasp. I also feel like the levels are too busy. Maybe making them half as large and breaking them down to their simplest forms would make it easier for players to figure out what to do. Nice game with a unique concept!

The thing follows your pointer by Sergei11156 2023-10-04T01:22:00Z

Honestly a really solid game idea. I feel like its really only missing some sort of goal or progress. Doesn't have to be anything inside like upgrades, even something as simple as a highscore or the level changing colors over time. Something new to discover as you play would dramatically increase the replayability. Nice game!

CaveBots by quasilyte 2023-10-05T00:39:41Z

Very interesting game. AI, destructible terrain, building, resource management and more! As an RTS type game I think the only complaint I would really have is I don't see a lot of expression/strategy to the game. Sure you can choose which blocks to break but your buildings seem limited to certain areas and the patrollers do most of the attacking for you. All together though very impressive game!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

TINY PACK by xk_the_name 2024-10-07T01:36:52Z

Great atmosphere and graphics! Nice job!

Autumn Picnic by Gao Ming 2024-10-07T01:16:32Z

Beautiful Game! Love the concept and honestly this is probably the first game I've played yet that I could absolutely see being a real game. Just add another bunch of levels and maybe a couple more mechanics and it's a done game. Simple but super effective idea! Nice job!

ISOPODRICK by Dingbat 2024-10-07T00:11:53Z

@custodi Yeah the projectiles and weapon stuff was pretty rushed probably because I spent a lot of the time on the player controls and environment lol. Thanks for the comment!

ISOPODRICK by Dingbat 2024-10-07T14:45:34Z

@captaindreamcast thanks for toughing it out and beating the game! It definitely isn't easy especially with some wonky gun mechanics and other issues so I give you props haha thanks for the review

INFESTED by wisstopher 2024-10-08T23:01:08Z

Fantastic entry! Very rare to see a good horror game in ludum and you pulled it off really well. The atmosphere and mood are executed great. Good pacing, moody music, and great level design. Nice job!

David vs Goliath: What the government doesn't want you to know by CaptainDreamcast 2024-10-07T14:55:27Z

Great game definitely the best 'story' game I've seen in the compo so far, with voice acting and everything! Probably the funniest game I've played yet as well. Love the delivery on the lines especially with the adlibs haha. The boss fight was some great bullet hell style gameplay although it did leave me wishing there was a bit more action. Super fun game nonetheless, nice work!

Shrew by LightningST 2024-10-07T00:57:03Z

I absolutely love the art style and audio design. Sadly this is just really not my style of game haha. Could also just be that I'm too burnt out from jamming to read straight at the moment xD I could absolutely see some of my friends getting lost in a game like this though and overall I love the aesthetic you have here! Nice work!

Snail away by Thomas_Bringer 2024-10-08T22:43:50Z

Overall I think one of my favorite compo entries so far. Simple yet has a very clear and polished design. The platforming idea is executed very well! Nice job!

Tiny Creatures as Us by Foursay 2024-10-07T01:53:11Z

Love the atmosphere of this game! Not sure if you've ever played NaissanceE but this gave me similar vibes to that. Very brutalist/minimalist atmosphere. Nice music and level design. Definitely an interesting atmosphere to explore. Nice job!

Creature Rehabilitation Lab by Anson Rutherford 2024-10-07T01:09:11Z

Cute game! Reminds of me of slime rancher. Started getting kinda demented once I started launching them off the cliff though. But that might just be a me problem. Anyways love the cute little dudes! Nice entry! :)

Springtail by KeithSwanger 2024-10-08T10:52:53Z

This game is pretty hard but the core game mechanic is a great idea! I could absolutely see some youtubers/streamers playing this getting infuriated lol nice job!

Microbe match maker by martonel 2024-10-07T15:32:49Z

Overall I love the art and the music. The gameplay itself is somewhat tedious I honestly ended up just brute forcing the levels rather than looking up the correct matches lol I think with some tweaking and maybe finding a more interesting way to challenge the player would help keep the game more interesting. Maybe adding some cute sounds for the little guys or something would also help. Nice work!

Blob stomp by Noobman64 2024-10-07T01:20:27Z

Cute game! Gave be a bit of an existential crisis at the end there lol

Squirrel Family by CamComDuck 2024-10-07T00:34:56Z

Fun game! I like the concept I did fail to actually win the game though lol Nice graphics and good job making your own sounds

RestaurANT by Guadalupe Murgo 2024-10-07T00:29:18Z

Cute little game! Not sure if its physically possible to be successful on any given day put I tried my best lol. I like the art and music!

Super Sayant by SockSteve 2024-10-07T00:45:23Z

Fun game! Love the atmosphere and the concept. Gave it a few tries and couldn't win but it was probably a skill issue. Nice entry!

Goblin Rope Wranglers by Emelme 2024-10-07T01:28:14Z

Fun game! I did find a trick to cheese the maze level though. Took my guy around the exterior of the maze straight to the trophy and won easily haha nice entry!

LD57 — Depths

Pits and Bricks by jimmothysanchez 2025-04-07T19:49:09Z

This was super fun! classic arcade game combined with tower defense? Sounds like my kinda game. I honestly was super hooked... I love trying to find exploits and strategies in games like this. I beat hard mode by building a front line and just mass producing the brick makers until I had over 10k bricks than I launched my assault haha. Super fun concept, great job!

Deep sea fishing by Spexxilove 2025-04-07T20:14:30Z

Welp I met fred lol. This was a great concept, kinda of reminded me of subnautica. Honestly you could make this into a super fun game with just a bit more control over your character, some fun sound effects, and maybe more character to the fish you catch. Great job!

An Angler's Light by Yorsh 2025-04-09T01:20:26Z

Almost definitely the most polished game I've played in the compo so far. Great sound design, great models and a very interesting gameplay concept! I love the detail of the music changing when turning the light off. Great job!

In the Inferno by Talia 2025-04-09T00:41:01Z

The art and gameplay are great. I do think zooming the camera out a bit would make it a bit easier to react to what's coming up ahead. With the way it is you really just end um memorizing where to jump rather than reacting to what you see. Other than that though, nice job making a fun game that I actually took the time to beat lol

Deep Delve by P1x3lc0w 2025-04-08T22:08:10Z

Who doesn't love a little roguelike platformer? You've got some solid mechanics, multiple enemy designs, combat, and even some good music. Nice!

I definitely think the combat could have been tuned to be a bit more enjoyable. For example: on easy mode it seems like every enemy is 1 shot and there are very few enemies, but on hard mode everything takes multiple hits and there's a good number of enemies. This makes easy mode kind of boring (half of the time no enemies even spawn) and hard mode kind of unenjoyable as the combat makes it really hard to land multiple hits without taking damage. I personally think a happy medium would have been making every enemy 1 shot, but having a lot more enemies. That way the player feels powerful and fluid while not being too easy. Obviously later stages would have tougher enemies.

Anyways, that's my only criticism. Great job on get a polished platformer done in this short a time!

The Well of Secrets by coatline 2025-04-07T22:48:23Z

Pretty spooky game. Definitely kept hearing some freaky noises lol nice job on the atmosphere!

Souls Rider 1D by deformhead 2025-04-11T23:21:21Z

Lovely art and music and the game functions great but I really just couldn't wrap my head around the idea. I pretty much just ended up spamming until I found the end haha interesting concept though!

The Earth Treasures Show: Season 4 by Rolly 2025-04-08T23:08:37Z

Really interesting game! I love games with physics and interesting movement mechanics and honestly this game does both of those great. Moving the PeepCube™ was a bit confusing at first. I didn't realize you had to hit E on the little switch on the cable. I also spent a couple minutes figuring out you had to press E, not F, to put the item into the PeepCube™. After all that I realized the things basically got a health bar/timer that I had completely drained lol Really great game though, you've got a lot of moving parts here. Nice job!

Depth Rhythm by CaptAndrey 2025-04-08T23:52:01Z

I beat it but I'm not gonna lie that was really hard haha. Fun concept using a timeline at the top to help players line up the drops with the information given. Good job!

Subconscious Abyss by ugly_robot 2025-04-07T20:45:23Z

This is a fantastic game concept and was super fun to play. I'll be honest after a couple, I really didn't read much of any of what I was clicking on lol However the concept of removing certain rods to allow the physics of the objects to take them to the bottom was very satisfying. The art and music are also extremely well done. Great entry!

Voyage au centre de la Terre by xpoho 2025-04-09T22:23:26Z

Fun game concept and great music! Nice job!

Can Go Deeper by Trabasura 2025-04-07T21:37:33Z

These types of games are fun but I'd being lying if I said I wasn't a little confused by the mechanics. Love the art style and presentation of the game. Having floating mechanics for grabbing fish to use was a fun and the 3D head was a nice touch. Overall very cute game!

River Woods by the3rdHunter 2025-04-08T00:07:14Z

This was pretty fun! I Got bronze after trying both the left and right paths. The only real issue I had you don't have much warning on what's coming up ahead which makes reacting pretty difficult but otherwise, great game!

Ruinous Depths by AStrayRae 2025-04-09T21:46:59Z

Fun game! I beat it (unlocked everthing) and got the same ending as the person above me where everything just exponentially grew lol. This game is really well polished nice work!

Forgotten Files by oter 2025-04-07T19:25:44Z

Sweet game! I Think I beat it. Got to the end where it says It takes a while, but you eventually learn that this gibberish is actually some form of encryption for information regarding Gran's finances…

If I read that right you did this in 10 hours? Nice! I like a good text adventure/puzzle and this was fun. My only real gripe would be maybe the presentation could have been a bit more interesting. After losing a couple times I realized you can't enter some information unless you find that information during that run. I was copying and pasting notes into notepad lol what can I say maybe I was trying a bit too hard.

Nice job one the game!

Deep Sword Cultivator by ellaris 2025-04-11T22:28:27Z

It took me quite a while to realize you can't cast spells while moving which really confused me, other than that the game is fun. Unique spells and interesting creature designs. I could totally see something like this being expanded into a full game. Nice work!

DeepSteep by wo_ri_gou_le 2025-04-08T23:43:21Z

Hey fun game! I got 65k as my best. I love the art style and sfx. I think maybe some sfx for collecting the items could really increase that "dopamine" factor and make the game more addicting. I played it a few runs and its pretty fun! Nice job!

Jerry the Spear by Inferno123 2025-04-08T00:58:24Z

Fun concept! I couldn't quite figure out the money system. Most attempts it would just reset my money, sometimes I'd keep some money. Also if you click out of the reset popup it soft locks the game lol fun entry nonetheless!

Crush Depth by Psedera 2025-04-09T01:43:53Z

Love the art style! The controls were a bit snappy, I think having more momentum and inertia would help the game feel a bit more fun. I was a bit confused on what the goal was but I think its just to take the enemy ship out? Maybe a victory or something should pop up rather than an endless arena style gameplay. Regardless, nice work!

Just a few kilometers by ollulf 2025-04-07T22:22:00Z

Really great game! Super well polished, nice visuals, good player feedback. I love the audio queue for the earth stability, really nice. The boost helping with stability is a super smart feature from a game design perspective. And the music fits perfectly. If I really try to nit-pick the only thing I noticed was some Z-fighting but man honestly just a really great entry all around! Nice work!

Interstellar Dragon - Into the depths... of space! by Camer the Dragon 2025-04-10T00:50:39Z

For a first game jam game you've outdone yourself! It's a simple concept but you polished everything very well. Nice visuals, fun mechanics, fluid gameplay, and music as well. Nice work!

EXIT by Paprikaka 2025-04-09T23:16:37Z

From the moment I loaded up EXIT, I knew I was in for something… different. What began as a simple stroll to the right swiftly unraveled into the most transcendent, soul-illuminating journey I have ever experienced in interactive media. This isn’t just a game — it’s a pilgrimage. A rite of passage. A minimalist manifesto carved into the digital aether with divine precision.

The player — the hero in green, an avatar of existential yearning — is thrust into a world where pink arrows, bold and unwavering, beckon thee ever rightward. And you walk. Oh, how you walk. With each press of the directional key, I felt the weight of humanity’s collective longing for purpose. The arrows — resplendent in their pixel-perfect glory — are not mere signage. They are metaphor. They are destiny. They are the seductive whispers of the universe saying, “Yes, child. Keep going.”

As I approached the pink dot — the apex of design — tears welled in my eyes. Was it a goal? A reward? A cosmic joke? I do not know. I do not need to know. I touched it, and then — as all mortals must — I fell. Off the map. Into the void. It was glorious. The descent? Poetic. Shakespeare himself would weep at the simplicity and profundity of it.

From the depths by max_sanch 2025-04-09T01:10:26Z

I gave it probably 10 attempts but could never pass 8k I'm not really too sure what I was doing wrong tried a bunch of different combinations of inputs but always ended up filling with water no matter how slow or fast I went up. Other than the difficulty its a really cool game! The game mechanics make it interesting trying to keep the ship going and the sound design really makes everything feel super tense. Nice work!

Zooid Nexus by Benski 2025-04-08T22:22:18Z

Nice job on the project! Simple but fun concept. I have to say it seems you put a lot of time into the UI / menu design which is commendable but I would have loved another level or two lol. The music is pretty great as well. Nice work!

Clone Alone by ponkkis 2025-04-08T00:15:54Z

Sweet game! I got to level 7 and tried for about 5 minutes to figure it out and couldn't lol also if you're wondering why your WEB build doesn't work it's probably because your index file isn't in the root folder of the zip file. Just moving it up a folder should work. Anyways nice job!

LD59 — Signal

💥Boom Rail🚂 by Dingbat 2026-04-20T15:35:29Z

@sharky3188 thanks! Yeah I definitely didn't have enough time to polish the combat as much as I would've liked. I planned on having other weapons like bombs to throw and hiring mercs to sit on the train and auto attack as things got more difficult but just spent too much time getting the train, railroad, and shop systems to behave 😅 thanks for the feedback!

💥Boom Rail🚂 by Dingbat 2026-04-21T01:10:43Z

@william-corrin Yeah I spent about an hour on a song but music is definitely not one of my strengths in these jams 😅 The combat pretty much all got added within the last couple of hours so yeah it's a bit jank. And yeah the turn signals in general are pretty hard to telegraph. You can see them more clearly in the mini-map but definitely could've used something like a blinker on the train or something may have worked better.

Thanks for the feedback!

💥Boom Rail🚂 by Dingbat 2026-04-23T12:40:10Z

@steveofstevesgames 😂 yeah if you zoom out all the way it opens. I guess I could have explained some things in a mini tutorial a bit better 😅

Rail Rush by Sharky3188 2026-04-20T23:24:48Z

Hey someone else who made a train game! 😂

Honestly great execution. Cute graphics, fun music, nice sound fx, definitely one of the more "complete" games I've played so far. It definitely gets a bit repetitive after a bit, and the first few times I played I didn't realize I could buy another station because I kept losing too much cash at the start. Maybe making crashing less costly since it makes you lose anyways? Once I unlocked all the stations though it definitely became more fun trying to min-max the profitability! Anyways, really great job!

Marsacre by ThorPalsson 2026-04-22T23:28:08Z

Very funny game with tons of personality! Humorous games are always tough for me because it's hard to take them serious when reviewing. If I was to find this game on steam for a dollar and play it, I'd probably play the first level, crack up at the introduction and skip button, beat it, then once I started the second level and realized its more or less the same... I'd quit. For a jam though I try to understand more what you were trying to achieve as devs.

The humor and aesthetic design is VERY memorable but the problem is, if you don't have a gameplay hook that's interesting in any capacity you'd better be prepared to have an extremely consistently funny game, or players wont bother sticking around to beat the 2nd level that plays pretty much the same as the first, UNLESS you are keeping the humor up WHILE the gameplay is happening. Even then that's tough and games that do it well, like "High on Life" for example, still struggle to keep players playing to the end, because the gameplay just doesn't hold player attention.

Anyways, I guess to summarize: if your goal was to create a funny, aesthetically interesting game, then well shit I played the game because the thumbnail looked cool and I definitely laughed at the hamster facecam so mission accomplished 😂

Catch the signals by Fifut 2026-04-20T23:10:49Z

I got the the 4th stage and unfortunately scrolled down and clicked off the web player which caused me so have my mouse not be confined anymore which made it near impossible to look around 😔 already took me 15 minutes to get that far lol so I'll stop there.

Fun idea with some good graphics and game mechanics! The player looking was a bit buggy for me but everything else worked pretty good. Nice job! Hope I didn't miss some insane plot twist ending 😂

Sierra 1-1 by zevwax 2026-04-20T22:54:16Z

Fun little game. I like the presentation and art and it has some story/lore which is nice. Not quite sure what to do after the second guy is walking around though lol if there was a conclusion beyond getting stuck with that buddy I couldn't figure it out. A few extra sound effects definitely could have helped keep my attention span a bit better 😂 nice job!

Signal-Tied by Mr. Flower 2026-04-20T23:46:36Z

Fun game! Reminds me of my days grinding nuclear throne lol I even looped! Beat the game got all the unlocks and did all the levels over again haha

The gameplay is all pretty solid. There were some issues like the transitions taking a bit long and you could take damage before being able to see the level, and also some levels felt like it was impossible not to take damage due to the router mechanic, but otherwise a really solid entry. Weapon upgrades, level variety, and enemy variety! Nice job!
