LD57 — Depths

Depths: From the Crust to the Core by kr4ft3r 2025-04-09T18:21:42Z

Funny game and unexpected too! I will say though, the liquid core texture really was a bit hard on the eyes and ambient low volume music in the background would compliment the rumbling sound nicely too

Under Pressure by Paul Nadan 2025-04-25T20:57:33Z

Awesome game! Very fun, I like the buoyancy and it can lead to many interesting puzzle rooms

Down Golf by chuckeles 2025-04-11T21:03:17Z

Cool game! I liked this one a lot, it was a bit dicey when the ball was on a trampoline though. I managed to knock the ball away off a trampoline once with precise timing, but I think if the trampolines made it so the ball bounced ever so slightly to the side too then it'd make them a lot less possibly punishing. Also if you knock the ball over the tree in the first level I think you have to restart, but honestly it's kinda funny since it's just the first level. Restarting also seems to stop score logging rather than resetting the scores

HexaDig by FancyReckless 2025-04-13T03:43:54Z

Really cool! I was about to stop playing until I noticed the mission system being explained and I decided to follow it, which was definitely a good idea as it had some more content which was interesting too. Only thing I'd say for adding, as other people have said, is having some background music

oroBOREos by Whirlwind 2025-04-25T20:38:30Z

Same @deruitda Tried in MS Edge as well to see if it was Chrome and same issue, so not just Chrome

Wormin' Down by Cobear25 2025-04-07T14:09:46Z

Ey nice I got to the bottom, I like the sound effects and there's some good strategy in determining where to go in the local area

Holy Moly! by Thomas_Bringer 2025-04-09T20:37:31Z

Cool game, it's funny and also nice to play and look at. The main thing I'd say is it feels too easy to poke out for the ground really briefly, get a back attack off, then go back underground. Having a wall type that you can't dig under and a floor type you can't dig into and/or out of would be good for more difficult sections later on

Shafted by DecadeDecaf 2025-04-08T20:19:36Z

Cool game! Funny ending too. Only real thing I'd say for "what'd be better" is what's already been said about the downtime (e.g. it'd be good if it made you get to the end quicker when no throwables left and if it started you 1/2 - 2/3 into the path after dying to the boss). I liked the overall feel a lot though and it was cool to see the multibounce (which also lets you get gold easier). The dynamite being thrown specifically after the pickaxes I was mixed on at the start, but it stops you spamming throw without counting and also means that having more pickaxes comes at the cost of not being able to use your more powerful tools immediately, which I find to be an interesting strategic trade-off in a good way

Depths of the Mind by shtanton 2025-04-13T21:10:17Z

Cool puzzle game! I think I beat it(?) (The next level didn't work even though it was green so I assume that was the final level). Nice music and cool use of mechanics

Dance To Heck by Tad I Guess 2025-04-07T17:49:43Z

The animation on the character is epic, I also found a good strat for the game. It's impressive how this was done in an hour!

Mousehold by NBumgardner 2025-04-13T02:24:15Z

Funny game, I like how it's a good take on the theme but also quite distinct. The main things I'd say for additions would be more level variety and something from feeding the other mouse the cheese (also some of the objects in the top-right levels 4 and 5, and all other rooms of that layout, you seem to be able to walk behind and I don't know if that's intended layering or not)

P8-Sweeper by Christian Zommerfelds 2025-04-22T12:13:56Z

Really cool game! I like minesweeper and I like the differences in this one (0.5 for diagonals and the fact you only have to get to the bottom of a board rather than clearing it spices it up), only being able to dig in the cardinal directions also gives the game a bit more challenge too. I can definitely see a post-ld expanded version with stuff like no-guess, bigger boards, and endless. I'd for sure play that too but this version for ludum dare is really fun and cool, one of my favourites for sure!

Depths by PaperDuck 2025-04-07T15:27:36Z

Cool game, I don't know if there's a specific win condition but I did see the bottom of the map after a few attempts (I did get lost trying to come up quite a few times, but that's on me really)

Pogo Dwarf by NTMalichi 2025-04-13T03:07:39Z

Awesome game! Took me about half an hour but I thought the checkpoints were very reasonably spaced apart (I clipped into the ground a couple times, mainly at the end section, but since the checkpoints are close it's not much of an issue with restart or just spam bouncing until you're out). Double diamond jump was quite difficult but the consistency built up and it was one of the last sections. The only real things I'd say are I wish you could hold space instead of click to charge the pogo stick and that music (even just a bit of ambience) would be good additions, but overall an excellent game!

Fossil Finder by kidbean 2025-04-07T16:03:47Z

The sound effects in this game are epic Also in terms of digging through the stone you go to the left at the surface for money and upgrades

Yellow-But-Legally-Distinct Submarine by ThisIsSpy 2025-04-07T15:38:12Z

Played on normal and got 28,800pts (105m depth) Funny game I like the title too, it does what it sets out to do

Take Your Meds by DubiousDuck 2025-04-13T16:44:59Z

Cool game! I like the overlapping layers and the puzzle elements, the graphics and audio are really nice too. There is a strange bug I found though, if one of the characters is at the flag, if you spam pause and run then it sometimes considers the level complete, even if only one section finished

Undertetris by Rinevard 2025-04-13T18:16:23Z

Really cool! I like the colours and the puzzle gameplay elements especially. One time I got a block stuck, but the levels are short enough so restarting was fine

There Is A Light by n1evsky 2025-04-13T21:40:02Z

I like the colours of the game, very nice and bright. The bars for the relevant colour don't seem to fill up all the way when you collect the light though

Interstellar Dragon - Into the depths... of space! by Camer the Dragon 2025-04-09T19:21:48Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback and compliments! This one is my first game jam (decided to do compo as it's just me and for a challenge) and I had a great time working on it. I realise I can reply to people via mentions so I'll do that now for the feedback:

@atsh Thanks for the compliment! Yeah I like the idea of having the two sticks be for left/right and up/down respectively, the way I did it currently is as I wanted both moving and non-moving animations to get decent time in the spotlight, but I agree that having each stick do a different thing would be cool.

@tad-i-guess Thanks for the compliment! For the death sound, I was wondering if it was a bit loud (not overly so but a bit louder than the other game things), I decided to keep it as it's like "Oh no!!" and will draw attention to let you know that the game/round is over.

@zirrrus Thanks for the compliment! For the question, technically there's no validation, but I did test this to make sure that the density is decently low at the start and then increases further into the game/round. I also spawn the asteroids with a decent amount of variation in position and velocity, so gaps should very likely open up as the asteroids move past each other. As it's an arcade-style game I thought this good since it's a bit of RNG, but should be decently fair too via testing.

@k1n @dnp Thanks for the compliments! I also agree with both bits of feedback here, they'd be good additions and I'll take notes.

@sicosiber Thanks for the compliment!

@dingbat @torte478 Thanks for the compliments!

@gbegreg Thanks for the feedback! I shall take notes on this for the future

Interstellar Dragon - Into the depths... of space! by Camer the Dragon 2025-04-13T03:48:58Z

@jovialknoll Thanks for the compliments! I agree that the spawning of the obstacles could be more fine-tuned for the future

@nbumgardner Thanks for the compliments! Yeah I had a web build effectively ready, but for some reason it was showing the font as just black rectangles, even though I did the same with the font (at least pretty sure) as I have in other things (where it worked), so I had to just have the download version which was a bit of a shame

Interstellar Dragon - Into the depths... of space! by Camer the Dragon 2025-04-18T00:12:06Z

@eugenik @kr4ft3r Thanks for the compliments!

@bloodbane @outish Thanks for the compliments and feedback! I'll note these as ideas for improving in future

Depths Of Space by Darksoft 2025-04-08T00:20:15Z

Quite cool! The audio does seem a bit bugged though (doesn't loop) and once you clear the initial piling up of enemies they seem not to spawn very frequently

The Hole by dstoc 2025-04-13T17:53:20Z

Really fun game! The main thing that I would say would be a good addition would be a "zoom out" button/keybind to show a bit more of your surroundings, not necessarily the whole level, but maybe somewhere between 2.5-4x in each direction

A Submarine's Game of Chance by Code_x_3 2025-04-09T18:48:37Z

Cool idea for a game, I do think it is a bit easy to just click where the torpedo came from to know where the enemy's submarine is though. I think it'd be interesting if the enemy's submarine moved up/down a bit after they shot (but the game tells you by how far) and as they're not directly on the wall, this'd impact the angle a bit differently (bonus if they can move forwards/backwards too, all this movement would still be off-screen). Something I didn't realise for a few rounds is that you can move up/down on the enemy's turn too. The shooting guide always seems to be set to on at the start of a new round though (even if turned off prior).

Run For Your Knight by baychowski 2025-04-07T13:58:30Z

Cool game, only main thing I'd say is the further along you are on the board at the end of a round, it should scroll back a bit faster (or have the scroll speed cap a bit higher if this is already in place)

GRAFFITI TOWER by VertSight 2025-04-07T17:38:46Z

I like how colourful the paint splatters are and the contrast to the tower. I got a combo of x120 or so at one point and I was wondering, is there an ending to the game? Or does it just go forever? I was playing for about 15 minutes before I went and I didn't really feel anything changing in terms of difficulty
