I liked this game! I think the graphics are charming and I really like the sound design.

I'm a fan of Sweeper, so this game is really good in my eyes too. It does seem more difficult though

gaverion 2025-04-07 23:14

Great fun, I picked up how it worked pretty quickly, then got unlucky with a 50/50. Great game!

owinmowe 2025-04-07 23:20

Played this one for a while and a loved every second. From the art style to the simplicity. Nice game!

timelost 2025-04-07 23:21

I liked the game. The gameplay is fun. It's a fun twist on Minesweeper.

karbirus 2025-04-07 23:24

I really liked this! It's nice to see a classic with a twist added!

I enjoyed this a lot, from the gameplay to the visuals and overall mood (especially as a general minesweep enjoyer :D)! I did have to go back to the tutorial to remind myself what the ':' meant again, so some visuals within the game tutorial itself would've been a nice reminder-- but knowing the time constraints, I'll take having to spend a few more seconds on reading haha (plus the description explains it really well!)

I'll definitely have to come back to this one to try and reach Depth 10 ^^

I love this! The rule is simple and the mechanics are very well designed, everything tie together nicely so the play is very intuitive. There are some very nice designs that player won't notice, but are critical to the gameplay. I would love to play this on my phone. Seemed easy at first, but it actually require more thinking than it appears (for example, I sometimes forget that a one could be two diagonals). I only got to depth 5. You really need to forget your common minesweeper patterns and treat this game like its own puzzle, more challenging and fun than minesweeper. I feel it would be easier if players are allowed to reveal connected corner tiles because you can deduce those but sometimes not allowed to reveal them.

Thank you for the feedback all, this is why Ludum Dare is so nice!

I wanted to make a note that I think the game came out a bit too hard. If anyone here makes it to the end I'd love to know ;)

If anyone is playing on mobile, I'd be happy to add a long press.

Love to see some PICO-8! Really great game and good theme realization. You did Minesweeper justice!

otherwards 2025-04-08 17:53

I really like this game! I like the more focused take on minesweeper, where I don't have to clear the whole board. Audio is really good too.

I did run into some counters that felt wrong. E.g. in this case both the counters showed 1 rather than 1.5

``` --------- | * | 1 | --------- | * | 1 | --------- ```
christian-zommerfelds 2025-04-08 18:13
@otherwards hmm strange, I double checked the code, seems fine. If you see this again, can you post a screenshot? Thank you!
This was pretty fun! Turns out I am terrible at minesweeper! Was a really well crafted game though!
nojoule 2025-04-09 11:36
Missclick at level 9 and rage quit lol. Solid and fun game! Marking diagonal tiles as safe would be nice to add.
greenradiation 2025-04-09 14:35
O yeaaa, I love Minesweeper! But I really, really missed the ability to open a cell diagonally. Very often, mines block all paths horizontally and vertically, and there is nowhere to go except diagonally, and because of this, you have to act at random. And when you are at level 8 and lose because of randomness, it does not bring much fun. But otherwise, great job!
Fun! Unique! Addictive! Polished! A little unfair... but addictive Excelent job!
alpalcalad 2025-04-09 19:52
Brutal game but super cool. Glad to see another minesweeper variant and an interesting one at that. My one wish is that somehow the levels could scroll into the next one rather than being separate
bloodbane 2025-04-10 09:41
Nice take on minesweeper clone! Though this one requires me to alter my calculations. And just like original minesweeper, this game relies alot on luck so it would take lots of tries to get deeper than 4 for me.
mhorth 2025-04-11 22:46
Ooooh I haven't played minesweeper in a while and this was a great twist on it. I had a lot of fun!
I did have trouble getting started, might just be getting old lol but I actually found the text hard to read and understand what the rules are, and the idea that I was looking at a side view of digging a hole. I spent a while clicking on the lighter colored tiles and wondering what the inputs where since nothing was happening lol.
Once I learned the game rules though that was very well put together and a great design choice to add the diagonals, nicely done!
Pretty cool idea to combine a "progression" game with the minesweeper!
The "half" count for diagonals is a nice touch that definitely gives more info than in the original minesweeper and thus, eliminates some reliance on luck (even though sometimes, it is inevitable).
Maybe a kind of limited consumable ability/effect that you could use to pass those situations where you're forced to make a guess could make it less unfair ?
As I've had to restart multiple times, I would've enjoyed the automatic spread on empty tiles (like in minesweeper) to speed up the grind!
Would've also enjoyed a bit of music while thinking =)
7uc4s 2025-04-12 15:09
Interesting idea, wished transitions were a bit faster though, and wouldn't have minded some background music :)
vegasword 2025-04-12 19:04
It's pretty fun we got the same idea with différents executions. Your game is very fun and I love the PICO-8 touch!
emir 2025-04-22 11:48
nice but little bit hard :)
camer-the-dragon 2025-04-22 12:13
Really cool game! I like minesweeper and I like the differences in this one (0.5 for diagonals and the fact you only have to get to the bottom of a board rather than clearing it spices it up), only being able to dig in the cardinal directions also gives the game a bit more challenge too. I can definitely see a post-ld expanded version with stuff like no-guess, bigger boards, and endless. I'd for sure play that too but this version for ludum dare is really fun and cool, one of my favourites for sure!
alyd-asmar 2025-04-23 17:21
Super cool game omgggggg :sparkles: I liked realizing progressively all the implications of the half point tweak!! Especially the moment I realized 0.5 + 0.5 = 1 :joy: Also loved the narrative snippets!
hexyvexy 2025-04-23 22:08
A neat twist on a classic, although the : representing a half is maybe not the most intuitive. Playing minesweeper with a directional goal is novel in itself. A strong entry and always fun to see Pico games.
