LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Volcano Crisis by LeReveur 2022-04-05T18:32:19Z

I saved 75 and 45 died!

The game is a bit too minimalistic in explanation or too abstract. If you didn't have time to build a tutorial maybe write some in-game text explaining what to do :)

Ah thanks to @weirdybeardyman's comment I figured out that you can maximize walls by using them up every round. My recommendation is let the unused wall inventory stack up over time (at least to a larger max than now) and then the player can use at strategic times. Maybe you can add random fire explosions or so.

Nice submission!

The BIMBLES vs the inevitable forces of tedium by tigerfinch 2022-04-08T20:24:24Z

* Great music! * I like the drawing style, especially the dust clouds * The arrow key controls are completely broken for me (can't accelerate and turn at the same time) * There is something weird about the AI. They just follow you exactly where you are and you never get to drive freely, which takes away some of the fun of driving

Alloy Song by Psytron 2022-04-18T20:27:06Z

Nice little game, UI feels polished. I wish there was some music. The choices seemed a bit random so it was a bit frustrating once you get to game over.

PLOUF! by mlho7 2022-04-08T20:30:21Z

Nice art style with the brush animation!

Worm Food by Genpaku 2022-04-04T10:25:38Z

I like the 2D version. Very funny drawing :)

Maybe it'd be fun in a party setting, but just pressing the spacebar doesn't seem very deep :)

I guess this could be complemented by powerups or other key combination. Maybe a typing game?

Rectangular Hell by ccglp 2022-04-04T10:34:02Z

Really creative that the window size decreases :)

Cool game. Not sure if it was the window resizing or something else, but the movement didn't feel very fluid (a bit of lag?).

Cool menu screens with the font.

Graphics effects where cool. I think it bothered me that I couldn't parry sometimes when reloading. Maybe the timeout could be reduced or a disabled parry symbol added (so you don't feel like the parry sensors are broken).

Return to the Glade in the Sky by AdroitConceptions 2022-04-05T18:10:26Z

Nice work! Some thoughts:

* Took me a while to figure out the keys * Nice graphics! * It is kind of hard to tell where to go or how far things are. Maybe you could tweak the level design a bit to work with the limitations * Add some interesting puzzles: I think there is potential to take the simple "move gem from here to here" idea and make some neat puzzles with just that, but the level design was a bit too simple (one of the levels I liked, where you had to move a placed gem).ö * The part with the moving boxes didn't feel very fitting with the peaceful atmosphere

Fuse Lit! by pdotjpg 2022-04-04T10:21:36Z

Really neat game! One of the best I player so far.

My major critique which made me stop the game (around level 5) is I couldn't figure out the puzzle dynamics. When can you push a cable and when can't you?

Notes

* Space bar does something weird (bug?)

MoonDoggle by realryanrogers 2022-04-21T06:07:09Z

Very nice game. Congrats on finishing!

My main issue was mouse sensitivity. Somehow it depended on which monitor I was in, and at the lowest mouse sensitivity setting the game was just moving the camera in big increments. Maybe this is a HTML5 version bug or maybe adding a sensitivity slider is unavoidable for this kind of game.

Death and Taxes: A Puzzle Game by Rooksword 2022-04-18T10:09:35Z

Interesting idea! Some notes:

* It's a very unique and puzzly idea, nice job on coming up with this and the levels * The core mechanics of the puzzle are hard to understand/you can't relate to the real world to reason why the rules are like this. I tried to come up with an idea with a robot needing to erase the program, but failed to find a fitting setting/story, so not sure if there is one. * The title about death and taxes is great for the competition, but the theme/graphics are a bit random in the game. Maybe an abstract grid would have done the job better since the theme is not adding much to the game IMO. * Nice music, it doesn't get repetitive and fits well! * I got to level 9 then quit, unfortunately my brain didn't "click" and got satisfaction from truly understanding the puzzle, it was more like try some random things until you find the solution. * Please add a clickable reset button :) * No bugs!

Good job on the entry!

Snakeline by Balduvian Dead 2022-04-05T05:42:53Z

I can't run the game. I get the "Made with CMGE" screen, then it turns into a black page. Didn't rate.

Escape from Nowhere by lbrande 2022-04-08T20:17:13Z

Nice entry!

Somehow the control felt a bit laggy and difficult. I'd try to make the car turn a bit sharper and with less inertia.

Also I'd suggest decreasing the size of the hitbox for the car. It can be frustrating to lose the game when you barely touch the pixel of the end.

Doomsday Survivors by Who 2022-04-18T14:54:23Z

Very decent game!

* I wish it was a bit more fast paced (everything moves faster from the start) * Having to buy time was a nice touch, and fits the jam theme well * Nice lightning effect! * Some basic sounds would have added a lot * Not sure if the test relic was meant to me used, but that was just OP, once I got it the game got too easy * Really fun to get overpowered and kill all those monsters :) * As other mentioned, some things could be added to the game to make it less repetitive. Maybe some random map obstacles, or side objectives.

Spin Impact by Rewzu 2022-04-21T06:28:07Z

Felt really satisfying to smash enemies, especially with the physics! Also I love how the enemies entered the level from the side walls, really cool!

I was playing with the keyboard and it was very easy to fall into the holes, maybe the controls could be less sensitive, or maybe tweak the camera or relative movement.

Great visual effects too, and I like the enemies' faces :)

Nice job!

Doom's Peak by zantze 2022-04-04T10:41:14Z

* Game is a bit slow/laggy on my machine. * Snowboard is a bit slow (maybe my machine or the speed feels slow) * Nice intro scene. Maybe it should auto start the game, I was waiting 10s expecting something to happen. * The physics feels a bit wonky. When you're going left you should be able to turn with your momentum (and even go up a bit?), but instead it breaks. * Cool graphics * Nice submission!

Delay the Inevitable by TasakaSama 2022-04-04T10:06:39Z

The graphics are so cute!

The gameplay itself is not too exciting as it is right now but it has potential if more elements are added (building stuff? weapons, harder fishing options).

Life will never end by BetaCat 2022-04-21T07:00:58Z

I thought the game was broken because it wouldn't do anything, but it was because the speed was set to X0. Maybe add some labels or tutorial!

I didn't know about Langton's ant, nice to learn about that. It happened to me that an ant was undoing its highway, that was fascinating to see! Is it because they reach the world's edge?

I reached 710482 life time.

The Last Days of RIPLEY 9000 by Human Writes Code 2022-04-05T07:30:21Z

* Wow really cool graphics and environment, well done. Reminded me of Satisfactory. * Nice transition effect with the green triangle. * What I thought was iron was just some decoration. Iron looks like a crystal :) * Really nice death animation! * I think I found a bug. I was stuck collecting water no matter where I was. See below. * Hmm well I guess the gameplay is very simple and there is nothing too interesting to do but there is certainly potential to add more elements and make the game more fun. The energy charging is cool, keep that!

Sundae Driver by Juutis 2022-04-21T06:38:33Z

Nice work! The game ran a little slow on my low-end laptop so it was a bit hard to steer. Also congrats on making a whole map in 2 days. The minimap is really cool and useful, although it might have helped if the minimap rotated with your direction. Really good execution, but in terms of game mechanic/innovation it think the game is missing something to make more it fun or different.

Congrats again!

Till the Cards Come Home by Lucas Guimaraes 2022-04-04T09:26:23Z

Hi Lucas, the game worked :)

Main critique:

* The game could become more difficult over time otherwise you can play for ever * I didn't understand why bother collecting the suits

But otherwise a cool idea about being a poker chip. Maybe there could be combos / ordering (flush?) when collecting stuff.

THE LAST HOPE by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2022-04-21T07:38:30Z

I like the original houses and colors more than the new screenshot you posted above!

Played on Android. Please provide a link to the APK file directly so you can just download and install (can't unzip natively). For building houses I suggest a small UX modification: allow taps to set the location, instead of having to drag from the middle.

To be honest I didn't get the game. Do you just keep building houses anywhere and game plays itself? How did you unlock the other colors? I gave up after a few minutes since it seemed repetitive.

Nice job with the flighting mechanics and the Android version tough!

Help Pete Delay The Inevitable by zell 2022-04-05T07:13:08Z

Nice little game!

* Was it by design that you have to press space twice to attack? Feels like a bug. * First I didn't realize that you could jump and thought it was not very interesting. Maybe add a tutorial. * Balance: make the jump higher? Make the character faster? * I found the controls a bit unintuitive and not ergonomic (all with one hand). Maybe arrow keys and space to jump? * Floating bug:

Screenshot 2022-04-05 090924.png

Good effort!

Mighty Crossroad by hmightypirate 2022-04-21T06:48:25Z

Nice idea! Played for a bit. It was a bit hard to see where the cars were going. I wish the pieces were somehow less random so you could get the satisfaction of building a nice road. Also the cars traveled way too fast! Funny sounds :)

The Eclipse by CandleBird 2022-04-06T07:52:10Z

Impressive game, and it performed well on my low end laptop! Is this your own engine?

Some thoughts:

* First, it wasn't clear if resources are transferred automatically. You only realize that things are working after 3 machines are placed. Might be nice to somehow animate or show that resources are flowing from one thing to the other. Or show a hover text "machine is producing" or "missing resources" (first you don't know what the colors mean). But I figured it out pretty quickly so not a big problem. * I first didn't realize there was a war outside. I thought it was just my other factory buildings and it was just about maximizing profit. Maybe add some things outside to make it clear there is a war, maybe some flags on the buildings. Or maybe a screen instead of a window, because it feels weird there is a war just outside :) * Instead of making a lever I propose a button with an arrow or customer symbol, then it's clear what it does (I first thought it was just to turn on the machine) * Great work with the floating UI. Very pleasant! * Music is great! But maybe a bit too calm for having a war outside :) * Nice robot animations! * Why did I win? Wasn't too sure if it was just about reaching a certain amount of money * The idea to pick your customer and influence the war is really nice. I'd maybe build on that and make it a bit more complex (game was pretty easy). Ideas: set a price per customer instead of just sending it. Make the sides have other suppliers or war events, so you have to adapt the prices/sides as the war goes.

Well done!

Run Little Zombie by Tellyhead 2022-04-04T10:00:08Z

Wow, really cool 3D retro graphics and animations!

I can't really explain it, but the controls felt a bit hard/awkward. Maybe a simple grid movement (like Railway Runner) would have been easier here.

Distant Colony by mikouaji 2022-04-18T20:21:02Z

Game looks nice, but had a couple problems:

* The game was very slow on my low end laptop. After a while I was getting maybe only 1 FPS... * Balance: after placing a couple of mines, I always had enough money to buy anything I wanted, so there was no challenge * After placing a few towers and walls I left the game running and I simply would get no damage. Maybe a bug with the game performance?

The 13th Colony by kristinamay 2022-04-05T19:27:02Z

Congrats on your submission! Some thoughts:

* It wasn't clear to me why I was collecting those resources. Maybe add a warning saying "you will lose the game if you don't collect X". Ah or even better, make the resource counts drop down with an animation and sound and make them go blinking red. I guess it was written on the page below the game but I didn't read it until now :) * Really cool hex based exploration. Loved that part of the game. * Nice atmosphere with the music and story. * I guess the monster part was a bit repetitive but I'm sure you would have added different movement patters and attacks with more time :)

ThatsLife by maxi1324 2022-04-18T10:18:05Z

Nice game! Loved destroying the factories. The controls are quite strange though and it's hard to understand why the tree is trying to attract and kill me.

Encroaching Void by Phil C 2022-04-04T09:50:47Z

I like the game! I think it has potential.

Some notes: * Maybe don't use .rar file because you can't unpack it with bare Windows (.zip is better) * Please implement hold to shoot otherwise my finger will be sore :) * Maybe make touching monsters kill you very quickly * Adding some missions might be cool, like getting from one side to the other of a fully corrupted room * Tweak the balance, the beginning is not very challenging?

Death Is Real. by waffleworksgames 2022-04-04T21:26:51Z

Very cool game! Well done!

I had to quit almost at the end but I started the game again and played though!

Only negative for me is that placing things was a bit hard and required precision. The fun part was the puzzles, not my clicking abilities :)

Great music and simple graphics.

Settling On Mars by Daniel Whittaker 2022-04-05T19:47:13Z

Really cool, enjoyed it (before it became insane armageddon.

What I liked * Very cool graphics * Wow, quite a playable strategy game for a few days of work, impressive!

Some improvement ideas: * It wasn't clear visually where rocks were (there were other rocks too) * I wasn't clear what the radar, rocket and population would help with (without reading your instructions) * Radars didn't seem useful * Show cost of repairs * Are turrets to help defend asteroids? Maybe label then anti-asteroids because I was expecting aliens :) * Make it clear that you don't need to connect the oil pump (maybe raw a line connecting things?) * I'd make the mission the other way round: send people away so they are saved :)

With some balancing, polish and extra features I think this game has a lot of potential!

Defend 'till the end by kjscott 2022-04-18T09:41:55Z

Nice game! The Earth is well animated, especially when the meteors hit and the damage stays!

My biggest wish for improvement is not to allow infinite shooting (so the player is rewarded for precise shots instead of always bashing on the X key). Also some upgrades for faster speed or more power.

Timeflight Alpha by Quinn_Patrick 2022-04-21T06:17:49Z

Nice game, you really feel the retro style! Some things that would make the game better in my personal opinion:

* Allow for more precise direction controlling instead of only in 8 directions. Not quite sure what the best things would be, but I think one would would be to make the arrow key slowly turn you in that direction instead of instantly. * Add a clear instruction on the screen "Find the thing and bring it to the base!" * Show bullets exploding when you are inside the base, otherwise one might think the shoot button is broken * Make the game a bit easier * Somehow help the player find the thing otherwise it's just random searching and luck

But anyway, good job!

We Have to Talk by Oleg Bone 2022-04-09T07:55:33Z

Nice little game! I played the post jam version. Do you mind documenting what the changes were? Otherwise my rating might be unfair.

Nice art and atmosphere! If I had to give you feedback it would be two things:

1) The girl is way to big, kind of weird to have her so much larger than the main character 2) The stair movement is a bit weird. Maybe make left and right work on the stairs as well and allow for them to be pressed at the same time? E.g. hold up and right to go right and then up when the star comes

Southbound Flight by GavinRG 2022-04-05T06:13:19Z

Nice game! I feel like the game is a bit too simple though and too easy to master (I could last forever I think).

Maybe with some collectibles and varying obstacles I'd increase the fun rating by a lot!

PlantBad CO. by KewDev 2022-04-21T07:24:32Z

Are 3rd party sound assets allowed in the compo rules?

PlantBad CO. by KewDev 2022-04-21T20:38:27Z

Hey KewDev, didn't mean to police around, was more curious about it. It's the first time I participate and I was wondering why using a tool like sfxr is much different than a public sample found online (with sfxr you also get a full free sounds in a few clicks without doing much). IMO it's totally OK if you mixed the sound into something different. But I don't set the rules :)

Don't Melt by jogy34 2022-04-04T21:05:13Z

I have a low end laptop and the game ran with much lag.

I like the idea of exploring the open world and interacting with things. I wish there was a core mechanic that made the game more innovative though.

Probee by Harmadillo 2022-04-04T20:54:25Z

Nice job!

I almost gave up early on because there was nothing much to do, but then the monster certainly added to the game because you had to move around and not just stay in one geysir.

The graphics could be better, I think it might help to make things more abstract, e.g. the floor could be a line instead of a detailed texture.

Column by Notinatal 2022-04-05T06:56:38Z

* Very cool atmosphere! * Love the sounds * Add an instruction somewhere about the R key! I restarted the game the first time I got stuck :) * The puzzle dynamics were confusing. For example it wasn't clear that you could step on the tower of hanoi but for the individual rings they behave like boxes. * If you don't know the games / read the description it is a bit hard to understand what to do. * The coins need to be explained more I think * I think there is a bug with the coins. There is a race condition and the coin jumps to a random location:

Screenshot 2022-04-05 085013.png

Good job on this one, really liked it

Column by Notinatal 2022-04-05T18:44:18Z

@notinatal played again through to that level so I can check. I can't reproduce it now though! Not sure if it only happens when the computer is slow, my laptop is not the best, but it works now. Strange.

BTW I thought of something you could do to maybe make the coins clearer. Add a negative example that is easy to fall into. Like you push forward the white coin straight along a hallway and suddenly the orange one snaps away to an undesired place. Otherwise the player might push things into the right position by chance and somehow the level is magically solved (that's what happened to me).

Spark Boy by Joshua Steward 2022-04-18T20:03:13Z

Nice entry. I have to admiti the controls and camera were a bit awkward so I stopped playing after a bit. But it's an interesting idea to collect burning power to light up the final torch.

The flickering animation when time is running out and you are getting weaker feels like a graphics glitch, maybe it should be less strong and less often.

I'd also suggest looking into how to make pixel art really feel like it's pixels in the game. For example there was some weird linear filtering on the other character in the welcome room and there is a thin line below the foot (less than a pixel).

Music is nice!

Robots attack! by Lichead studio 2022-04-05T18:57:13Z

I think this game has so much potential! But unfortunately the controls are really unintuitive and not explained.

Some suggestions to improve the control issue: * Try keyboard only, or mouse only with automatic grabbing of objects? * Add a highlight to the object when it's ready to pickup. * Small tutorial or in-game text

Nice submission though, the atmosphere is great.

Robots attack! by Lichead studio 2022-04-05T19:10:54Z

Probably not I'd say, since it's not really a bug, but you can maybe link a separate v2 version of your game and mention it in the description.

Definitely not Titanic by Charles Viau 2022-04-05T19:07:25Z

Nice intro scene haha!

I was very confused with the room switching, I though it was automatically changing but on the second try I realized that somehow I was triggering them by going into some area. Maybe make that clearer.

Also it didn't feel like I could do much to the game, so it felt just just running around and waiting to die... Maybe you could have added a hope that it could be different, or multiple timers with breaks in between? Just some thoughts.

Graphics: very nice blocky style when you are inside the ship! In the cutscene it was a bit weird that blocks had multiple sizes. Maybe the iceberg could have less fine grained cubes because that + aliasing was disturbing on the background.

Oh and great audio.

Nice submission and good job!

Embers by andrewkennedy 2022-04-18T09:36:40Z

Nice little demo! I guess there is not much to do in the game yet, but I like the idea of a turn based survival game with a board game feel.

Global Eggstermination by owca 2022-04-05T06:08:02Z

* Did you make the song alone? Sounds really good! * Very cool graphics for a 48h game. * It wasn't obvious to me how the enemies behaved. I first thought they only attack me, the I was running around and was always surrounded. Maybe the game is a bit too hard. * Nice leaderboard! * I wish there was a way to reload the weapon before it overheats

Global Eggstermination by owca 2022-04-05T07:32:35Z

@owca I meant more like a faster reload so you get rewarded if you don't let the gun overheat and just time it right :)

155 Hitmen by somestufz 2022-04-04T09:36:23Z

Neat little game!

The graphics are quite cool actually. Simply abstract.

I think the friendly fire on the VIP really adds to the game, otherwise would would just stay in the middle and shoot around.

Debt Train (card construction game) by Christian Zommerfelds 2022-04-04T11:43:14Z

Thanks @darandin, really cool you got this far! :) Definitely a lot of stuff I could add to this!

Did you all enjoy the track building part? I was thinking that maybe a grid-based, single cell placement system would work better? Or add more traffic management to make it a bit more than simply optimizing station distances. Not quite sure.

Debt Train (card construction game) by Christian Zommerfelds 2022-04-07T06:22:33Z

@cryptomnesi haha, maybe a tiny bit of that, but I literally wanted more feedback on the track building part (people are commenting on the card part). This project made me want to keep improving it, and I was wondering if a simplification would work too, kind of like this: https://tinyurl.com/34hfaeve

Debt Train (card construction game) by Christian Zommerfelds 2022-04-09T16:52:02Z

Hi all, thank you for the great feedback!

I published a new post-jam version under https://zommerfelds.github.io/ldjam50-post-jam/.

I didn't change much, just some bug fixes and balanced the incoming cards a bit. Not sure if I want to continue working on it though.

Debt Train (card construction game) by Christian Zommerfelds 2022-04-18T09:19:21Z

@bloodycoin thank you very much for the detailed feedback. You certainly pointed out some things I didn't know and nobody else gave that level of feedback. I hope I could triple-like your post.

I agree with all your points. I'm not sure if I have the capacity to work more on it, but I'm thinking about it :) I originally focused on touch screens (mobile), but maybe this would be better suited as a PC game, given its Transport Tycoon nature.

Defend the Earth by SeniorWombat 2022-04-05T19:51:35Z

I feel very much out of control, the it's very sensitive and the asteroids are coming in too fast! Maybe with the mouse it would be more precise.

Nice work for finishing a playable game though! Nice music.

Best Dream Ever by Xlores Liang 2022-04-05T06:19:40Z

Same here, couldn't rate since I couldn't play the game.

GrimTide: Delay the Inevitable by MartinK 2022-04-08T20:08:19Z

Interesting idea. The sound adds a lot to the atmosphere, although it's a bit too intense after a while :)

I guess we all wanted to match the theme, but I have to admit that forcing the player to always lose made some games in this jam miss some potential. For this game I feel like it would have been nice if you could actually win and build a nice base.

Some other feedback: the UI is very small and hard to read. I found the symbols a bit confusing. Maybe a lot of numbers could be removed from the UI (e.g. the time it takes). Also the grid and some is kind of blurry, not sure if this was intended.

Nice work!

Beebs Bump by Beebster Games 2022-04-21T05:54:42Z

Did you play the guitar? Really nice, congrats on the music.

For the game itself it was a bit hard to get the rules so I ended up just clicking around. From the video it seems like the best strategy (? first, then cheaper first) is too easy, so maybe there could be some additional mechanic to make the game more strategic. Maybe points based on neighbors or some level specific color.

Ghost Chase! by Gnome4 2022-04-05T07:44:31Z

Nice game!

* Doors feel really nice to go through :) * I took me a while to find a clock and then I never found one again. Maybe make it more visible? * You could try to make the ghosts less visible if they are far away, or only show them when you have the flashlight * Very nice atmosphere and music

Tominrigg Tactics by Dan Allison 2022-04-09T08:20:49Z

Hey nice entry! I enjoyed playing till the end. A couple notes:

* Bug: rescuing doesn't work after attacking. Just nothing happens when you click on the villager. * Amazing music! * The ordering if things is a bit weird. For example, a character should die or leave the map immediately, instead of waiting for that to happen in the turn system. Otherwise it feels like a bug and things are not working as intended * Waiting for all of the skeletons towards the end of the game was a bit annoying. Maybe the timing can be sped up if the game knows they aren't attacking.

leaky robotic arm by inert_aesthetic 2022-04-05T18:22:56Z

Haha nice inspiration video!

It was an interesting idea to have a complex control of a robot. Maybe it would have added something if you could explore a world and go pickup stuff with your arms. Like it deep sea or on the moon.

Having a time limitation felt a bit stressful given the controls are hard.

Having the robot leak is a creative idea but I'm not sure how much of a "game" it is suck up your own oil instead of fulfilling a mission, haha.

Nice try with Heaps, I used that too!

Lights Out by Dan Livings 2022-04-04T10:46:19Z

Like the minimalistic graphics! Beautiful game.

I can last for ever by just clicking on the edge for ever. There is some core element missing to give you a challenge or puzzle. Maybe you are a dot in space and can walk around? Maybe add one more color transition and you have to click at the right color? Just a few ideas :)

I'd avoid forcing the player to click repeatedly, as I find it a bit hard on the hard and is repetitive. Maybe some press and hold motion would work?

LD52 — Harvest

Lightshrooms by LeReveur 2023-01-16T07:53:27Z

Good job on finishing a game! Some opinions:

1) I don't know what the red dots were (To guide you? To give you a short light boost? If the later, it should shine stronger to help you.) 2) Even if fully dark, it was possible to see the maze. This is OK, but I think it might be better to have it fully dark, so players can't cheat with brightness and for the extra challenge. 3) Last but not least, I think the core mechanic (a maze) gets boring fast. If you had more time I'd consider adding other types of game design elements, like enemies, puzzles, different controls, etc.

Well done!

Harvest From Your Success by jk5000 2023-01-09T20:22:25Z

Haha pretty hilarious! Nice storytelling. I liked the overall polish. Finding the hidden objects was a bit tedious.

Ludum Dare 52 by strong99 2023-01-09T19:59:22Z

Sorry I didn't understand the game. It felt as if I was stuck in the intro.

The music seemed too happy for the theme. Skipping the intro button didn't work.

But I see great potential in the cinematics though!

Halloween Harvest by muriel 2023-01-09T20:47:08Z

Nice job on your first shooter! I enjoyed it.

Also great job on the tutorial.

I guess the only thing I could suggest is add more innovative content or levels :)

LEXICONSTRUCTOR by Matt Rix 2023-01-12T21:35:13Z

Nice job to finish this in a jam!

The game lost my attention after a short while because it's missing the unlocks/research aspect and it felt a bit repetitive to delete my old work to create a new one.

But other than than it's a solid game!

Horn of Abundance by fusionnist 2023-01-22T20:41:22Z

Neat looking graphics! The game feels super smooth. I was a bit confused about the thing in the middle but I think it just gives you extra powerups.

Pig Polly by Likirus 2023-01-09T20:32:10Z

Agree with the comment above. One thing to add is that I had a hard time managing the controls. Maybe digging could be ENTER? Not sure how to solve this. But great job developing the game so far!

Planetary Mining CO. by Mcnuttys 2023-01-22T20:46:34Z

This felt like a tech demo instead of a game (cool looking one though!), so I quit pretty quickly. But now looking at googlypoo's screenshot maybe there is more stuff to unlock. Wish this was somehow described in game (show a goal).

Nice job for getting this far!

The little reaper who could(n't)! by timon 2023-01-12T20:43:18Z

The game feels pretty smooth/fluid. The actions where not intuitive, maybe you could reduce the number of action keys (to be just one).

Nice job!

Space Harvest 9000! by Vasco Freitas 2023-01-09T21:02:16Z

Well done! Reminded me of some block puzzle like Tetris mixed with a farm game, but there was not much "puzzliness" involved, as you don't know the shapes in advance. Overall quite polished. It was a bit hard to understand what ordering of tools is needed. I'd also recommend to explain/make it obvious how much money the plants give you. I didn't know what was best to plant.

The Amazing Web-Harveting (Ludum Dare 52 edition) by brmassa 2023-01-09T19:51:35Z

Wasn't able to start the game:

Unhandled exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0

Gunther Needs a Friend by Lemons 2023-01-10T21:41:31Z

Haha the game is a bit creepy :)

But I played till the end and enjoyed it!

My main criticism would be that the game is too easy. You can simply walk past the policemen. Also it would be cool if they followed you or turned their heads when they see you.

EDIT: forgot to say the sound and music is great too!

Otherworld Harvester by shp 2023-01-12T21:20:45Z

This game is great. Congratulations!

What I really like: * The graphics and athmosphere * The astronaut's/robot animations * That you need to balance between sprinting and not sprinting * How smooth it plays

Maybe to improve: * Monsters could spawn on you/near you * I didn't know how to get upgrade points * Music was a little too calm for the timer based mechanic

It's a Platformer by acdimalev 2023-01-22T21:22:25Z

Wow, not bad to write it for the GB! I encountered the same glich as Dis0rder.

For the game itself the jumping was a bit non-fluid (double jumping and jump direction). But other than that this is a solid and fun entry!

Overroasted by Dock Frankenstein 2023-01-22T20:54:19Z

Hey good job on finishing this game! A few notes:

* It was not intuitive how to get butter, salt, etc... a plant?? * It was hard to interact with the popcorn machine. Sometimes the "v" showed, sometimes not. So I gave up before being able to make the second one. * I dropped items behind the machine and I couldn't see them

Other than that, solid entry!

The Anti-Harvest Brigade by Rolly 2023-01-09T21:19:49Z

I think the concept is really cool. I was a bit intimidated by unclear symbols and not understanding how the game works. Most of my concern is just the UI. Otherwise a solid game! I wish there was some sound.

It's Corn! by grid96 2023-01-09T19:47:19Z

Polished game, good job! The graphics are simple but enjoyable.

My only critique is that it didn't feel like there was much skill to be learned. Maybe if the field had corners and obstacles then it might be more challenging. Some personal ideas: 1. Show a goal: how many levels are there? What kind of ending am I possibly going to get? 2. Maybe try different controls with the keyboard, so it's harder to aim.

Cheers.

Midnight Harvest by SirLich 2023-01-09T20:08:50Z

Game loading could have used a loading indication, I thought it was stuck and almost gave up! Cool mushroom art!

The game is harder than it looks.

The mechanics is not super captivating though, maybe some walking around would add atmosphere.

HARST by bradu 2023-01-10T22:31:03Z

The game looks impressive, but unfortunately my machine isn't strong enough to play at a good frame rate (it also crashed at some point).

But congrats on the nice graphics! BTW, I didn't understand what "improper harvest" meant. Was it just bad luck?

Settlement by Corporation 2023-01-12T21:04:02Z

This is one of the best games I played so far! The connection with Catan/Settlers was evident.

At first I was discouraged by the fact that the game has a fixed duration and I just need to wait for it to end... but then I realized how fun it is anyway. If there is anything to suggest it would be to add a different goal in the game that is not just a highscore. Also maybe a dice rolling sound :)

Good job!

Expand by Tesseract 2023-01-10T22:02:56Z

Interesting idea. Once you get the idea (I think I did?) the game becomes repetitive quite early. Maybe you can add some tech / automation unlocks to add more "content" to the game.

Nice job!

Human resources by JazzatheFOSS 2023-01-10T21:16:57Z

Nice job! I liked the attack animation a lot, and the souls.

The core part of the game is a bit simple (just react with the right color), maybe there could be some extra mechanic added.

I love the atmosphere though, with more work I could see this being a fun RPG.

Wheat Master by nyxkn 2023-01-10T22:33:58Z

Cute game, well polished, congrats!

I like how I can write this while playing the game and do other things at the same time. :)

The floating text is a nice attention to detail. I think the pace could be a bit faster.

Harvest "Harvest Simulator" Simulator by spyranteros 2023-01-11T08:02:06Z

I can't manage the controls. Feels like you are using the mouse like arrow keys? Or there is a bug? The tractor gets twisted up in itself easily then it goes off screen.

Aside from that, game looks cool and nice music!

Harvexo by IndivisibleParticles 2023-01-12T21:38:58Z

Very polished! The art and animation is beautiful.

Well the only thing is that memory is not exactly the most exciting game :) Maybe for children though.

Congrats on finishing!

Soul Season by goldenXD 2023-01-12T21:46:31Z

Some techno music with this would be great :)

I actually had to quit the game because it felt like all I was doing was randoming clicking. Maybe maybe it more tactical or hader?

Graphics are really clean and good looking!

Cat Crop Collector by Riesyeti 2023-01-11T08:08:36Z

I got stuck when I jumped on top of the vending machine xD (It wasn't reloading for some reason - oh you can only reload once, maybe add text)

Really nice retro look!

Harvest by Oiluuuj 2023-01-16T06:54:20Z

The game feels nice, and I like the animations/effects!

The biggest issue IMO is that it's not clear that you get hurt and why the game resets. Maybe a health bar, or some damage effects or sounds would help. Of course, to finish the game it would be nice to add a goal, like a time highscore or even better, some way to beat the level.

Good job!

Propaganda by She Wrote 2023-01-09T19:37:20Z

Mood feels good and it's funny! I was a bit confused about the connections and interactions in the game. A bit repetitive, but OK for a small game!

Stealth Organ Harvest by SharpLoaded 2023-01-10T21:52:48Z

Solid mechanics and AI! I enjoyed playing through and it's a nice genre.

I think there is potential to create more puzzle-style levels. There were many ways to solve the levels. I would have enjoyed a hard level!

Dunix: Harvest of the Spice by Mika314 2023-01-11T07:55:56Z

I died before I found out how to harvest anything. Maybe add some instructions on how to do that?

The FPS was really low, making it hard to play the game.

Other than that, the game looks quite amazing and good job and publishing this! Also very nice to have the AI voice.

Soul Gardener by taikinaaa 2023-01-10T22:51:07Z

Nice game, with a soul! :) The retro feel is really nice, reminded me of Atari. Shooting is satisfying.

An idea would be to make the level start again from the start and you keep going until you grow all the plants. Great entry.

Combine Harvester: Time Attack! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-01-08T21:17:22Z

@feor, thanks for the early feedback! I think I fixed the timing issue. That was quite a bad bug. Let me know if it was fixed.

Combine Harvester: Time Attack! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-01-09T06:55:16Z

I can consider to increase the time for the second level, but not sure if that would be fair!

Combine Harvester: Time Attack! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-01-10T23:12:21Z

Thanks for the feedback, all! It's encouraging to get positive and constructive feedback.

I fixed the bug where you could start the timer without clicking on the machine. Also I added a small indication after the progress to tell you the time is up.

Combine Harvester: Time Attack! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-01-22T16:46:26Z

@therealjtgill thank you so much for the kind words.

Comments like yours are really motivating, so I hung it on the wall :) PXL_20230120_133801052 (1).jpg

Harvest Mole by Yumepix 2023-01-22T20:30:43Z

Good job on finishing a game!

For me it would have been nice to resize the window, it was quite small on my 4k screen.

equniox - the harvest moon by Dawnreaver 2023-01-12T21:58:06Z

Very relaxing music!

To be honest I didn't get the game, what decision could I make to help winning? In the end I just ended up spam clicking the deck to get to the end.

Harvest Week by boaz4 2023-01-11T07:33:29Z

Nice little story! I agree it would be nice to provide just the exe (or web version).

I really liked the transition animation when you enter or leave rooms.

Jumping Bean Harvester by therealjtgill 2023-01-10T21:26:23Z

Good job on submitting your game!

I think I got 50 points despite having a stationary bean. The grabbing mechanic could be improved on, e.g. maybe a physical arm and having to balance the bean on the trunk of the car :)

Overgrowth by Sheng Mai 2023-01-22T21:16:07Z

Well polished game, very much enjoyed it. The screenshots and cover image attracted me to play.

The game is quite hectic and took some time to get. It a fun mini game, but I guess I couldn't see myself playing for a lot longer since it was a bit stressful without being able to pause the game to analyze the board.

Desert Harvest by math_daemon 2023-01-09T21:09:52Z

To be honest it wasn't clear to me why I'm even needed as the player. I could have just left the vehicles working on their own. (I get now that you are supposed to beat the high score). Maybe adding islands so you really need to help the vehicles could be fun? Or make them just queue up if the spot is busy, which would really make your help needed. Nice job!

Human Harvest by Gregormack 2023-01-10T22:43:33Z

Nice game! The performance on my laptop wasn't optimal, so it made the sound choppy and the game slightly laggy. That said, the graphics is really cool, and really good that build managed to build the upgrade screen. I didn't get what the beam upgrade was.

Fetch! Good boys? by DashNothing 2023-05-02T20:49:58Z

Nice entry! It feels smooth and nice to play. Unfortunately I got a bit frustrated and gave up on I think the 4th level, because I couldn't figure out what you are supposed to do to avoid the boxes from triggering every time. Maybe some puzzle design trick could force the player to learn in a simpler level?

Package Pushers Inc. by nanolotl 2023-05-18T22:24:55Z

Wow, the game feels smooth and polished. I got stuck at level 3 I think (with the electrical hole on the ground), maybe I missed some mechanic! Some small nits: it was sometimes hard to see which face is highlighted and pushing the block multiple times requires lots of clicking.

Congrats on making such a complex game for the jam.

Package Chaos by GlacierEclipse 2023-05-18T21:48:34Z

This is a really nice game! I would have loved to play more if there was more content and not resetting your upgrades on every level. Got to level 4.

Golden Hour by Tyrannas 2023-05-03T19:26:43Z

The game looks amazing! I think there is huge potential, but unfortunately the enemies kept disappearing into the island, making it a bit frustrating. Very fitting musing and sound effects. I don't know why you added a timer, but I guess there is only so many features you can build in 72h :) Well done!

Tiny dropshipping by chispaLBC 2023-05-18T21:58:53Z

Nice job! I found the controls quite unituitive, had to read the instructions multiple times and lose a few times. I think a small text prompt on the screen would have helped :) Also I couldn't always get to the customers, not sure how precise you have to be. But otherwise a relaxing game!

Mother's Day Rush! by Dan Davis 2023-05-03T08:14:48Z

Pretty solid entry! A few random points:

* Nice music and background radio! * Lovely graphics style, I like the retro look * Great job on the smoke effects when you hit cars :) * Driving controls are not great for me (mostly because the breaks are too weak and maybe the turning radius too wide) * At 1 PM it was already getting dark... maybe this is near the north pole :) * The game is a bit laggy for me. Skipping frames every one in a while, unfortunately making the game less enjoyable. :( * I didn't play until the end because it became repetitive, maybe you could change the goal not to be time based and maybe add some extras like buying power-ups. Just some thoughts.

Great work!

Bulkheads by OrdiNeu 2023-05-02T20:41:09Z

Just finished!

Screenshot 2023-05-02 223554.png

I found the symbols a bit hard to read, maybe so color or shape changes would help? For the mechnics themselves it can feel a bit overwhelming (as in OMG do I have to compute all the options), which I can imagine might put some people off, but when you actually try the puzzles are quite fun.

Overall a very nice entry!

USPS United Space Poostal Service by FabDynamic 2023-05-19T08:48:36Z

Got bored after 15 points, but nice job finishing the game with all the problems you ran into during the weekend! I like the sound + music, gives a happy vibe.

Stork Express by Pizzasgood 2023-05-18T22:05:49Z

Haha bombing babies was hilarious. I agree with others that the controls were unintuitive. Did you purposely make it different than the standand control for airplanes in video games?

Pack It In! by Broccolly 2023-05-02T21:02:20Z

The concept is a little simple as it turn into memorizing and clicking fast. But I find it could be expanded into maybe a basic programming game (where you can preselect the commands to run) so there is no rush? The art is basic but cute! Nice job finishing this game!

Desert Mayhem by uniquecorn 2023-05-03T07:36:21Z

Does it work on Windows? Also, the source code link is empty.

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-19T09:34:43Z

This is probably the best games I've played this jam. Really cool! I only have minor points:

* Building tracks felt laggy, not sure if there is some performance bug * It would be nice if there were ways to help you find a certain resource. I had to finish the game without ever getting sheep, because I couldn't see any civilisation in my line of sight. Maybe providing arrows or a way to buy a map would be useful.

Great work!

B.H.M.D.S. by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-05-01T20:00:15Z

Congrats @floke, impressive you beat the game! I wasn't sure if people would get so far :)

@peterfiftyfour: were you playing the embedded version (I just removed it now)? Did the black hole simply disappear? I think it was a bug in the embedded version. Please use the standalone link and let me know if it works:

https://zommerfelds.github.io/ldjam53/

Thanks for playing!

B.H.M.D.S. by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-05-21T18:15:38Z

@notime4games thanks for the feedback. Do you mind telling me what platform and browser you are on? I had this issue with the embedded version. It's probably a bug in my code or the framework.

Fast Fruits by Dreamerflow 2023-05-03T07:22:10Z

Hey, congrats on the entry. I don't know if I missed something but it seemed you had put shoot the fruts in a bit in the corner to get them into the pot? Seemed a bit random vs some skill based mechanic. I couldn't get to level 2.

Did Someone Order Colors ? by Rayqdr 2023-05-03T07:31:15Z

Nice work! Unfortunately I only tried it out alone, no not sure if I missed a lot on the fighting part. I think the art style is really cool! The map is a bit hard to read though (some clearer styleguide might help there, to make it clear what color or style the platforms are). I think I had a bug where some animation was stuck. Audio is amazing, nice job! Also, well done main menu!

Oliver the Bartender by sdelay 2023-05-03T19:15:20Z

Simple but surprizingly good! Musing is supper fitting. I think there is a bug where it blocks where you can walk sometimes. The only thing I can complain about is that walk is a bit though on your hands. Holding the controls would be easier instead of repeating IMO. Well done!

Personal Delivery Conglomerate™ by chybby 2023-05-03T08:03:13Z

I loved the idea of leaving it up to the player to organize themselves! Humour was great :)

It's hard not to make this game feel like a chore (not sure what to suggest), I almost gave up at level 3 but then saw the plot twist :D Maybe if the controls were a bit easier (less physics, more automatic placement) then it might make the game a bit less like "work". I was also lacking some indication of how well of a job I'm doing (timer or customer happy face).

Overall great entry, enjoyed playing!

Ultimate Package by Triangle Point 2023-05-19T08:58:28Z

Nice work, particularly on having an interesting final boss. If I had to give one constructive feedback it would be to working on jump and run physics/control that feels nicer. I recommend this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWi0jgghGcI

Pizza Time Rush by TheButterApple24 2023-05-07T08:02:11Z

This is the type of game I thought everyone would make based on the theme :) Overall neat driving mechanics. I guess the goal itself becomes a bit repetitive. Finding the right house is a bit tricky too. Great job on finishing the game!

Delivery Drive by Volodymyr Karchevskyy 2023-05-01T20:18:39Z

Hey, I was a bit in a rush and couldn't play too much but here a tiny bit of feedback:

* Pretty cool you implemented such an open world with lots of details! * It would have been easier to remember if the same key was used to enter and exit :) * Car is a bit too sensitive: so easy to hit the side of the road

Nice job!

Mission: Intercept by Stephen Kyranakis 2023-05-19T08:40:56Z

Like many others I loved the art style and athmosphere. The only thing I'd say is that for the game to be bigger you'd need to add more core mechanics. This one works well for a tiny game, but then not sure if it could be extended. Nice work on the polish though!

Stand and Deliver by rohanmoon 2023-05-03T19:00:02Z

Wow, congrats on using GPT for this project! Definitely not the average entry! Some thoughts:

The game does show the potential of AI, I think improv is not really my thing, so I didn't feel very engaged. Graphics are a bit blurry. Nilce job on the paper/text design!

Nightmaremaid by vydra 2023-05-19T08:31:05Z

I got really excited by the retro style graphics. Too bad the game isn't finished.

Void Scion by TechnoPorg 2023-05-07T07:49:58Z

The game was very laggy at the bottom right of the map (almost unplayable). I was expecting waves of enemies to come in, not the game is pretty quiet and nothing much happens, which made me lose attention. You could consider adding some indication or reason for the player to go towards the action. Nice sound effects and music!

Delivery! NYC by Obe Dot 2023-05-19T09:15:00Z

I found an Easter egg! But what? :)

Really funny to have evil flying trains. The only suggestion I can add is to add a bit more of a horror feel to the game, like more quiet music and scary noises when trains come, haha.

Text AdDelivery Game by AliBomabliTV 2023-05-07T07:19:31Z

Maybe Engish is not your native English but it'd be very useful for the average rater if the game was in English. Also in German there are many many typos... ;)

The game doesn't seem finished as I got "willst du das spiel von vorne spieln j/n" without reaching the end.

I'm not sure if you are learning a new language or programming, but if so, congratulations on submitting a game :)

The Lightless Caves by nimbushead 2023-05-19T09:09:41Z

At some point the control got stuck and it wouldn't stop using gas but not move. Nice job on the game! I feel like making it 2D and simplify the graphics would potentially make it better to understand.

Ninth live by evilgeniusdance 2023-05-01T20:12:23Z

First game I tried and I'm pressed. It's very simple but the athmosphere is amazing. The art is cool.

The game lacks a way to restart. And I wasn't sure how to progress, the monster was alwyas getting me from behind. I was trying to go slow. Hints?

Pack Man by Honoki 2023-05-07T07:21:46Z

I hope this isn't a trick to get more ratings on the other entry! =)

Pack-Man by GyReDHawK 2023-05-07T07:39:09Z

Nice entry! Some things I encountered:

* It wasn't clear how the field of vision of the guards worked (Can I stay hidden when I'm still? How big is the radius? Behind what objects can I hide?). Other similar games use a more clear line I think. * Guard rotation was a bit slow and to which side they rotated didn't seem deterministic (maybe that was on purpose!) * Guard would sometimes completely miss the box * Level 1 was already too hard. Maybe you could make small easier levels to explain the core mechanics.

Other than the above things the game is pretty nice. Cool guard animations! Congrats on finishing the game.

LD54 — Limited Space

Solar Trucker by peremily 2023-10-04T07:12:22Z

The game got me very excited, I think there is potential! My main criticism is that is was hard to know what to press, when. I ended up not really knowing what to do.

I recommend working on a more intuitive UX that informs you about missions and showns things on screen. Good job on implementing all the UI so far though, I know it's not easy :)

Far Away: A New Home by Skosnowich 2023-10-07T10:44:33Z

First of all, the game looks neat, I like the style. I wish I could have resized the window as it was very small on my 4k screen.

I found it weird that I couldn't change which unit types are used. For example, I could have used only archers to defeat a spearman farm, but I was forced to use cavalry.

Some music and sounds would have added to the atmosphere.

After two maps somehow I got bored, maybe it's missing more game elements. But I like the direction the game is going! Reminded me of Heroes of Might and Magic :)

ZoomBot 108 by Kevin Prehn 2023-10-07T11:15:33Z

Congrats on the game!

For me the biggest pain point was that it re-started from the first level every time. Otherwise I would have played for longer. In the beginning it lagged a bit maybe becaue it had to load explosion models on demand.

I enjoyed that fact that the music stopped when you didn't move, it made be feel that I have to keep going! Nice little game, maybe a bit too fast.

Swear Jar by Steffo 2023-10-04T19:46:31Z

Haha fun little game! Congrats! It was a little infuriating though when I was missing 7 coins and had to start collecting from scratch... (Actually that was before I realized that you can buy the automatic generator, this could be more clear with a different shop design). Other thing I had is that if I misplaced an object I couldn't change it anymore.

I recomend you make a video maybe, for those who don't manage to play on the phone? But that wouldn't capture my favourite part, which was finding the best angle to leave the game running :D

Congrats again, I liked this game. Publish it :)

Limited card space by Zirrrus 2023-10-04T06:54:38Z

Really liked the game! I agree that the rules are not immediately obvious, but on the other hand on play though was enough to understand what was unclear from the "How to play".

I wish there was some different game end mechanic, as just maximazing the score is not the most exciting thing for me. Idea: have different levels with different decks, and you need to reach a certain score to beat the level. That being said, I get that we had limited time ;)

Well done!

Terminal Noise by fusionnist 2023-10-07T11:40:51Z

Haha I got _completely_ confused. I made it through like 4 level, but I didn't learn anything about how the rules work. Hopefully I remember to try this game again later, because I like puzzles like that. But maybe the levels could be designed in a way that the player must understand the rule to proceed (so there is little chance of you succeding by random key presses)?

Mousetropolis by Likirus 2023-10-07T10:56:24Z

Haha, funny voice audio "new survivers have arrived" :)

In term of engine the game is great, feels very polished!

In terms of gameplay I feel like some things are missing:

* Explain how you make money? * Does the position of buildings matter? It would be nice if it did :) * I always lost due to crime, things get out of hand quickly

But I think there is a lot of potential, the game could easily be expanded into something amazing!

This Robot Wizard Game Is Taking Too Much Disk Space! by jandourek 2023-10-15T13:50:02Z

GOOSE SLAYER by StrangerYann 2023-10-15T13:28:13Z

Haha really enjoyed playing this game.

I didn't realize there were monster spawners and I was forced to stock up a ton of ammo by waiting on the ammo spot. Didn't manage to finish the 3rd level.

But the atmosphere is amazing! My major complaint is having to spam the mouse button :)

Ghastly Tower by CrispyPear 2023-10-02T19:14:01Z

Loved the intro (including the musing, but there was a bug and the music stopped when I switched windows)!

I liked the idea, very creative!

For me the control difficulty was maybe too much? Jumping could be a separate key or maybe some other control scheme (for me the mais issue was that I pressed space and arrow at the same time, and the order wouldn't always be registered correctly).

Floodwater by John Gabriel 2023-10-02T19:01:45Z

Nice game page design! Haha it took me a little while to figure out I can push the box :) So my only nit is to explain that and that the button only works with boxes!

Music and art is fitting!

Congrats on finishing the polished game! I wish there were more levels!

Orbital Meltdown: Death by Laser Beneath the Naked Sun by UkuleleFury 2023-10-07T11:07:32Z

Game looks really fancy. It maybe ran a bit slow on my machine.

Gameplay wise my main complaint is that you have to keep clicking to shoot. When I got two equal guns on each hand I was trying to press both buttons at the same time and it was a bit tricky :)

Pretty fun that the level keeps falling apart as you play :)

SpaceRaft by Bytomancer 2023-10-15T13:08:15Z

Well done! Very enjoyable. I agree the ship could move a bit faster. Also I personally find it hard to deal with left and right mouse click at the same time.

Space Cargo, Ltd. by ditam 2023-10-04T19:13:13Z

Nice vibes! Good music and beautiful UI.

Some nits: * It was hard to see where the cargo had to go after you accepted it * It was hard to select a ship (ideally clicking near the planet would be more intuitive) * Sometime I would get requests to deliver to the same planet!

Astro Bastion by Soul Grinder 2023-10-04T18:58:38Z

I found the concept a bit strange that you push a box to be able to buy an upgrade, and you can't update if you press Exit. But other than that I loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the little animations too!

Free The Slime! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-10-02T18:46:38Z

Thank you for the review @september-xyzx! To be honest I'm not sure how that's possible with the enter key. Maybe you pressed the back button? I allowed myself to make a small patch to remove the "Back" button, to reduce confusion.

Free The Slime! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-10-04T06:56:46Z

Thank you all for the feedback <3

@strato: I very much agree that I could have added more mechanics! I had three ideas in my notebook, but prefered to polish the game a bit vs adding the new logic. (Ideas were: a laser to split you, breakable tiles that require a certain size, a destroyer tile that can trim your body).

If anyone reads this, I'd be happy to get feedback on the difficulty of the puzzles.

File Defender by Troy Korns 2023-10-04T07:18:43Z

Nice take on the theme. You get all points for that :) Some ideas for improvement:

* I kept getting system errors without touching anything. Not sure if it was a bug. Couldn't really play the game without beign confused. * It would be nice if you didn't have to spam the mouse button. A hold option would be useful!

The Knight Bus by pascalbros 2023-10-04T07:26:57Z

Nice game, and great fit for the theme!

I love the idea of balancing between using magic and just plain simple driving. Minor critiques:

* It would be nice to see your score at the end, as I was not able to check how much I had when I died :) * I never seemed not to have enough magic, so maybe force the player to use it more? Or: * The difficulty doesn't seem to increase? Maybe adding more cars the longer you last! * Controls are a bit sensitive

Asside from that the audio effects and music are amazing!

Good job!

Trapped in the Infinite Script by meowellyq 2023-10-04T19:24:30Z

I don't normally play/read those kind of graphic novels, but though it was fun to read through the end! Good job on your first game!

LD57 — Depths

Gas Giant Airship by Jcourt 2025-04-09T06:49:55Z

IMO the controls could be a bit faster (apply more force). I personally thing keyboard controls would be more fun. Holding the mouse strains your wrist very quickly.

I think the game has potential if you added more mechanics or a story, but it it's just moving around it gets boring fast :)

Congrats on your entry!

Perspector by Parxer 2025-04-08T18:43:58Z

* The "X" was not clear at all that it was a button, so I was stuck in the begginng first :) * The player character is super nice! * The change in perspecive was a bit awkard, causing me to fall down many times. I think you keep the depth from the previous swich and apply it? Maybe it would be worth resetting the depth to a fixed place depending on the level? This caused me to quit the game because I didn't feel in control :(

Fixey 2 (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2025-04-08T18:34:12Z

Does this game support non-VR? I couldn't get to run it on my normal Windows machine (I couldn't move or click on anything). Maybe write it explicitly?

Blurbl by xlambein 2025-04-07T22:22:22Z

Nice idea, would be cool to see it explored further. I had troubles with the controls, it was hard to get to the middle platform (maybe my mouse is too sensitive).

Depths of Darvaza 2 by ghost-in-the-toast 2025-04-21T15:25:43Z

Wow, really awesome atmosphere. My keyboard is doesn't have the Z where you expect (QWERTZ) :) But switching to a controller was nice (PS DualSense)! Weirdly X was mapped to a short jump and O worked to hold and not everything worked with this controller.

The music is awesome, and the low res and small color palette is cool.

De Profundis by Dis0rder 2025-04-07T04:28:31Z

This looks like it could be a Playdate game! :)

Plundersea by Hugimugi7 2025-04-09T06:19:10Z

Ha, you also built a Minesweeper game, nice!

Maybe add a loading text in the beginning, because I thought the game wouldn't load (took a while). But wow, I was pleasantly surprised when the game loaded: there was voice acting and a beautiful screen! Some more feedback:

* Nice mechanic idea with forcing you to pick a color! I wasn't quite sure if I should use the preview for strategic thinking, but ended up mostly ignoring it. * I found the game too easy. There is so much health! * I found it a bit confusing that the return tile gets revealed after I click on the first tile (see screenshot). Was this needed to generate a valid puzzle? * Maybe the sonar item should only uncover mines I don't know yet about (haven't marked)? * Music is nice, it didn't get boring even after 20+ minutes of playing

Screenshot 2025-04-09 072556.png

I didn't manage to get to the end but definitely want to get back to it later.

Plundersea by Hugimugi7 2025-04-09T07:50:16Z

Update: couldn't keep my hand off of it. Played again and beat the game! Very well done game.

Since you have to go back and for between the levels I accidentally proceeded to end the game without finishing the last board completely, bummer :)

Drop by caeonosphere 2025-04-09T06:39:37Z

Nice game! I enjoyed it. Some comments:

* The mouse controls were super sensitive, also the ball was a bit too fast and slippery for me * It took me a while with the glider to realize there is a countdown before you even start using it. Maybe make this a bit more movious with sounds or put the counter in the middle of the screen. That level was really hard (and I skipped the first platform) * I didn't know what to do on the level with the lasers. What was that crystal? * Pretty cool that the ball could squeeze through things :)

Deep Space Delivery Office by JHax 2025-04-12T05:57:31Z

Fun game! Really enoyed playing! I got to 250 days. Some feedback for improvement: * I found it a bit annoying to have to load things manually. A single click load would have been useful if there is only one ship. * Some things I didn't figure out: what the decreasing green bars are, what the fuel station is for * It would be nice to keep playing in a more relaxed way, I kepet running out of money when I wanted to play more * Maybe there should be a way to discard cargo? I got stuck at some point with everything full and could exachange goods at the office

On the positive side: audio was amazing. The art was simple but very appealing. The games feels crisp and was very enjoayble. I think it has potential for a bigger game with more features!

Deep Dive by mhorth 2025-04-11T06:49:45Z

Hehe, fun mini-game, but I didn't play for long since I didn't feel there was "depth" to explore. But it's very fitting to the theme :)

I used the PS DualSense controller, and for some reason the D-pad was entering input twice. Pressing X corresponded to down, and pressing down corresponded to down-down. Doing the tricks was fun. I wasn't sure what factors impact the depth you dive to.

COMA by GoldyXEN 2025-04-08T18:53:45Z

The game window is so small I could barely read anything! It may need a resize option.

Once I think you didn't reset the sound of this circle thingy so it kept going the whole game after I died without releasing it. :)

To be honest it wasn't clear what the goal is: is it to go deeper and deeper into the maze?

Nice job, I think this could be quite fun if there was a bit more of a clear goal and explanation!

P8-Sweeper by Christian Zommerfelds 2025-04-08T05:44:07Z

Thank you for the feedback all, this is why Ludum Dare is so nice!

I wanted to make a note that I think the game came out a bit too hard. If anyone here makes it to the end I'd love to know ;)

If anyone is playing on mobile, I'd be happy to add a long press.

P8-Sweeper by Christian Zommerfelds 2025-04-08T18:13:03Z

@otherwards hmm strange, I double checked the code, seems fine. If you see this again, can you post a screenshot? Thank you!

Minersweeper by vegasword 2025-04-11T06:03:19Z

Nice entry! Since I also made Minesweeper inspired game I wanted to check this out :)

TBH it immediately felt like a pure luck game. I guess there is a tiny bit of strategy you can do with digging but I think a way to go up would help, and to mark fields hints.

Deep Sleep by TheSecondLeft 2025-04-21T15:43:19Z

LOL, simply art, I guess :) Played to the end!

DEEP PIT (you fell) by aniretti 2025-04-07T22:29:26Z

Graphics are cute! The game itself is super creative, with multiple gameplay elements, but TBH I'm not that good at guessing random words, so I just gave up. Maybe some hints in the game would be helpful.

Project Planetfall: The Exodus Directive by rainbeau 2025-04-11T06:41:00Z

Would you mind updating your note so that we know whether what we're playing was done inside the deadline or not?

> NOTE: Please use the GitHub download link for the latest working build. Hours before the deadline, we encountered issues with physics not working well on the build. Hopefully it’s a small gaff and we can fix it before the final playable build, but if not, please keep that in mind. Thanks!

That aside, the game looks really awesome! Here a few thoughts as I play the game:

* Wow, the vessel/ship moves very nicely, including the rotations. Really well done for a game jam! * I feel overwhelmed, not sure what to do (not necessarily a bad thing :)) * I can't figure out how to pickup items. I tried to click in the output of the foundry, right click, drag, nothing worked. Oh I think it's because I already have something in my hand? This part feels unintuitive. * I personally would have liked to use the drills while the ship is running :) Update: actually at some point the worked, even with the ship moving. Also I found it easier to just turn the arms on and let the ship drive and pickup automatically * It would be nice if the heading input wheel would be controlled by turning :) It felt wrong when I turned it as it was going back an forth * It wasn't clear to me my suddenly all machines turned off. Maybe because power demand was not met for a while? * I think when the foundry is powered off after everything was turned off you can pay for stuff but never get the output? I was able to get into negavite resources, and I never got wat I wanted to build. * It wasn't clear to me where to put the core model and radar thingy * Music is nice (but gets a bit repetitive), sounds are great

As you can see above there are some rough edges, but I enjoyed playing and think that the game has a lot of potential!

Kind of deep waters by 7uc4s 2025-04-11T07:03:42Z

The graphics thumbnail attracted me to play the game :) But IMO the gradient of the light and around the player was not fitting well with the pixel art vibe. Maybe you could consider using a gradient with just a few steps or dithering, so that less colors appear on the screen.

I loved the progression. I think it was a bit too easy to get hit, maybe you could decrease the size of the collision area or make the first levels easier?

The gameplay itself wasn't very innovative: pretty classic and no surprises. So if you'd like to continue working on the game I'd try to come up with some unique game mechanic. But the level generation and buying upgrades, and darkness were super cool. Solid and fun entry!

Serp-slurp (Spicy hot chocolate 3) by Kartoffel Licht 2025-04-08T18:35:19Z

Couldn't start the game: "A Java exception has occurred"

The Changes We Make by aaronjnc 2025-04-12T05:31:06Z

The embedded version didn't work. Also I get a "Not found" for the download link.

Net. Sweeper by Absolute Garbage 2025-04-07T22:08:21Z

Played till the end and loved it! There is something about it meing hard to grasp at first, but once you get it it's really cool! (Maybe some iterations on the tutorial would be the best return on investment.)

One mechanic I think you did really well is that despite the board sometimes creating ambiguous solutions (I think), instead of punishing the player you give them HP and weapons to allow for errors. My game coincidentally is also a Minesweeper-like but it's quite brutal because any bad guess is an instant game over. Nice job! Will borrow your idea if I ever remake that game :)

I really enjoyed the vibe with the little windows with plenty of detail!

Rock Bottom by CptNero 2025-04-08T18:29:25Z

Holy moly, the download size is huge. Maybe consider making a smaller game to get more plays! :)

The humor was very funny! I think the game has too many rough edges to feel in the flow, like it was hard to pickup coins, drop them, activate the machine, etc. So I'd recommend focussing on the feel with a simpler world. Maybe think about what game mechanics could make the game unique, because just like that it feels a bit plain.

Good job on adding voice acting ;)

Death Perception by mshrmgirl 2025-04-07T22:19:01Z

What the heck was that ending xD

I love the athmosphere of this game! Amazing!

I guess the main thing to improve is to make the game harder, otherwise it feels motly like a tech demo :)

Congrats on the entry

Amigasa by Nakadashi 2025-04-09T07:05:47Z

Game didn't load on the Ludum Dare page, but worked on Itch. I recommend to put this in bold letters and tell players to press full screen :) (or submit a fix for the contiue button)

For the gameplay: it looks really cool! And congrats on making so many levels and bosses. I found the enemies barely visible, so in the end I was just randomly shooting at anything.

I didn't like the controls, it was hard to aim, since the camera keeps turning. IMO the aim should be independent of the camera: the camera should follow the aim, not the other way round.

The drawings for the story are really impressive and well made. Congrats on the entry!

Lumen Dive by Thorne Lee 2025-04-09T06:42:03Z

Web version didn't work for me, just shows a blank screen. Is this game Mac only? Didn't find a Windows exe. Maybe specify this at the download section?
