So heckin atmospherical i could feel the sounds touch me and could smell the scenery. The art, the sounds, the random traumatising effects and the lizards, oh the lizards. This game truly was not as simple as i expected. My only complaint would be the toll the atmosphere takes on gameplay as the controls are slightly hard to getting used to and the rooms, no matter how creative get stale over time. (Still our team game also fails teaching the player properly, so its relatable)

The game window is so small I could barely read anything! It may need a resize option.

Once I think you didn't reset the sound of this circle thingy so it kept going the whole game after I died without releasing it. :)

To be honest it wasn't clear what the goal is: is it to go deeper and deeper into the maze?

Nice job, I think this could be quite fun if there was a bit more of a clear goal and explanation!

@smugsman i wanted to have more variety in room generation. Specifically fake doors that lead you to dead ends. Alas, room gen code is such a mess that it is a miracle it even works.

@christian-zommerfelds

Yes, you go deep.

Sorry about the bug with audio.

goldyxen 2025-04-08 19:01

@veronica-l возможно проблема в том что у тебя седьмой виндовс. Если это так то я не думаю что могу что то сделать.

Если это не так то мне интересно что за ошибку выдает игра.

coma.png

Any idea why this is happening?

goldyxen 2025-04-08 22:39

@infecsean i would guess its an OpenGL issue. I have no idea how to fix it as it is the first time i see a problem like this.

Great game, I liked the atmosphere! If possible, make the game window bigger)

Wow, I really enjoyed the game! I probably didn’t fully understand everything, but that didn’t matter. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the dark descent into madness. The visual progression was fascinating, and the audio, along with the gritty sound effects, added a powerful layer to the experience. Congrats! :)

Amazing game, although I wish I could fullscreen the game and a seizure warning before the opening cutscene would be nice

eugenik 2025-04-14 02:03

I love that art style and gameplay!.

block97 2025-04-16 02:58

The music was great and I had a lot of fun running from room to room!

vertsight 2025-04-17 09:50

Wooow!! This whole art style is absolutely killer! Mantises are literally the perfect characters to get wrecked by doors.

I’ve never had this much fun in a coma before!

clink 2025-04-23 09:11

Love the amount of detail on the assets, you can really feel the soft, fleshy texture on some of the blocks! The gameplay loop, while original, rings a little empty, since the player can simply avoid all enemies most of the time. It would be neat if they were something more than just minor obstacles blocking the exit.

The difficulty is tough, but the speed at which things happen doesn't make it too troublesome. It was easy for me to adjust to it in just a few go's. The music, while not tailor-made for the game, is fantastic in its own right.

I wish this game had a little more to offer so that keeping on playing would feel justified. The concept is interesting, all it needs is a few fun mechanics!

goldyxen 2025-04-23 11:55

@clink I know about the gameplay problems. And i almost made a v2 that fixes them, but i am too lazy for that. This being a jam game is also just too perfect of an excuse to not put any work in.

knarf 2025-04-24 18:00

Wow that was kinda disturbing (in the good way) :) I like that Hotline Miami nervous gameplay and style, even if I was quite unsure of what was going on (could I understand my coma whatever?) I enjoyed blasting everything, eventually too stressed at avoiding these green abominations that paralyze me ; the dynamic display of new depth when reaching exit while memory fades out (?) keeps it pretty hectic, just seeking the way out as fast as possible not forgetting kicking twice on doors to smash everyone behind while kicking some meat and gory stuff ; The intro also felt nice but it was a bit hard to read that font :) very cool intro/images however settling some climax. I felt like it has also some of that "LSD dream emulator" vibe, or is it just me ? Cool job on noises and musics btw ! When music stops it even more to the a disturbing atmosphere. Here is my latest run: COMA.png I went deeper but sometimes odd things happen and you start again ? shall I go deeper ? I wish there was something shownig a little some progression even if I like to feel lost :) Cool weird game !

goldyxen 2025-04-24 20:47

@knarf inspirations for the game are: Hotline Miami, Yume Nikki, POST VOID, and one of my previous LD games Hardcore Packing Simulator. Some of the places are actually based on dreams that were had.

Maximum depth that you can reach normally is 50 doors if that helps with your issue.
