Sadly gets blocked by microsoft defender

noobhereo 2022-04-04 11:07

The choice of compiler might have been a bad choice since windows is refusing to run it. I am not going to allow it through my firewall so I guess we won't see the game and what it was about. Wishing there was some screenshots or something here to give the game some ratings. Sounds interresting for sure though.

genpaku 2022-04-04 11:32

yea same as guys above, windows don't like this file :/

beebster-games 2022-04-04 11:45

I have saved it now as a zip file, hope that makes it a bit safer. I understand not wanting anything installed on your rig.

bubakgames 2022-04-04 17:22

Nice game.

wogabi 2022-04-04 20:45

Interesting. I like the shapes

pierce-brooks 2022-04-06 02:47

Love the novel compiler use, the game itself is nostalgically rendered and design-wise reminds of a more grid-centric solitaire :)

mavvy 2022-04-06 03:13

I immediately got old-school windows game vibes from the visuals and layout and loved it. Also, really nice music!

arhidavid 2022-04-06 14:39

Vibed to this one :) Thou why did you say it gets difficult after level 50? https://i.imgur.com/DCU1VCe.png

beebster-games 2022-04-06 14:44

LOL!! It is supposed to get tougher at level 50. Well done brother, I will have to adjust the Tokens and the Goal Score.

Thanks for playing the game, and well done on level 121!!!

jesse-martin 2022-04-06 14:54

Feel like the point structure could use some work it just seemed easier and quicker just to click every block then to try use the higher scoring ones maybe add subtract time from the next level by clearing the current one more efficiently

beebster-games 2022-04-06 15:00

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a look and adjust the scoring routines.

lisyarus 2022-04-06 15:09

Couldn't really figure out what I'm supposed to do, despite reading the rules like 3 times. Do I just click on all the diamonds as fast as you can?

beebster-games 2022-04-06 16:33

The instructions were written by me, I'm left handed so nobody understands.

The idea is to raise your score above the goal using the least amount of icons. The reason you do that is because all of the icons have a point value and the ones that remian when you exceed the goal are carried over to the next level which makes it easier to get through the next level.

As an example:

Goal: 5000 Score: 0 When you reach 5000 you go to the next level. Whatever is left on the board will caryy over, in this case lets say 3000 points were left to carry over so the next level looks like

Goal: 5000 Score: 3000

So, you can see how much easier it will be to get to 5000. This allows you to accumulate tokens.

The later levels are harder and the goals are higher and the question marks hurt more than help. The goal is to plan a strategy to get your tokens really high so when you run out of scoring icons you can spend those.

I hope that helps explain a little better, I am not very good at explaining stuff.

I didn't have any problems running this, unlike some others here; apart from that, this game is pretty good. I was a little bit confused at first, but I got the rules down in a short amount of time. Spending tokens for added score is pretty unique, at least to me; I feel with some additions, this could be a really intriguing game. The music's relaxing, though I feel it's a little on the short side.

Good job on making the Compo! Oh, and before I forget, here is my score:

beebster-games 2022-04-06 21:10

Nice score RonanRory!! Those tokens go quick after 60. Thank you so much for posting the results, and thanks for playing my game.

Its always great fun to hear the comments of those who have played a game I have made.

If you have some suggestions on how to improve the game of make it more intriguing I would love to hear them.

alexhoratio 2022-04-07 17:11

wow this was great! :D very very cool game!

nenechico 2022-04-08 06:36

For you competition proposal, you can propose several platforms like Atari ST, Amiga or Amstrad CPC, playable in simulator. Also Borland C++ and Turbo Pascal for Windows 3.1 or MS-DOS :)

hungryroy 2022-04-08 16:25

I had no idea what I was doing at first, but once I got it, I got into a good rhythm. The strangely entrancing BGM helped get into the rhythm. I only got to level 68 though!

beebster-games 2022-04-08 18:17

Actually 68 is pretyy darn good, congratulations! Thanks for taking the time to download and play

nenechico 2022-04-09 16:09

Hard to figure out what to do but after reading Beebster comments it's ok I finished my first level. This comment connt deserves to be on game description

benjamin-humes 2022-04-11 23:18

This is a fun game once you figure out what is going on. Maybe totaling up the points remaining on the board at the end of the level and telling the player what the score they will be starting the next level with would make the rules a little bit clearer.

beebster-games 2022-04-12 09:37

@benjamin-humes That is an excellent suggestion, and i will definitely do that. Thank you for your help.

raptarr8 2022-04-15 21:49

I have no idea what is going on and I love it. The goal is a bit unclear at first, but after some time I got the hang of it, and it was actually pretty fun. The graphics definitely remind me of an old windows game.

madbarron 2022-04-19 00:36

I didn't get it, but I clicked everything and got to level 48.

christian-zommerfelds 2022-04-21 05:54

Did you play the guitar? Really nice, congrats on the music.

For the game itself it was a bit hard to get the rules so I ended up just clicking around. From the video it seems like the best strategy (? first, then cheaper first) is too easy, so maybe there could be some additional mechanic to make the game more strategic. Maybe points based on neighbors or some level specific color.
