Nice graphics and catchy bgm. Very challenging game, the control scheme is certainly unique and takes some getting used to!

Nice graphics and catchy bgm. Very challenging game, the control scheme is certainly unique and takes some getting used to!
Well done. My only complaint is that the camera turns a bit too quickly for me, making me a bit dizzy.
This is great and also really challenging. I managed to finish the first patient, but didn't have time for the succeeding ones, as the solving can take a while! The presentation of the numbers can get a bit messy, especially if you've already cleared a bunch of them, then there's a lot of numbers floating around, it's easy to get confused. I'm not sure how to improve it though. The bgm is on point!
I lol'ed at the concept
Nice! Pretty fun, but also intense since the lava always catches up quickly when you try to spend time digging through the hard rocks.
I played to the end! Cute character graphics, and I also liked the parallax background. Movement could stand to be a bit faster, as some of the levels are really big. I like making the octopus happy!
Same here, the launcher just quits with an access violation in a log file. (Windows)
Was finally able to run it! Great job on fixing in such a short time! I like the little scientist sprite, and also that deep booming hypnotic voice lol. It wasn't clear to me at the start that I had to hold space for a while to fully hypnotize a citizen, so I ran around just tapping space for a bit haha. Also, I'm not clear when the cop cars are close enough to "catch" you, so I just tried to hang out as far away from them as possible.
Pretty good considering it's only made in 5 hours, with music and everything! I have to say though it's a bit confusing that rocks deal you damage when you have a drill in front. My first instinct was to try to drill through them!
I'd probably enjoy a full, fleshed out version of this one. Movement needs to feel a bit faster though.
Pretty good. Music is catchy. I think having some idea of where to find powerups etc would make the game more interesting - as it is, I didn't bother exploring and just tried to find the quickest route down. (Maybe that's why I never got very far? lol). Also, when you dig through the rock, the first hit isn't always visible - I didn't notice it the first time and thought "maybe there's a separate pickaxe button?" The first breaking rock sprite should probably be more obvious I guess?
This one was great. Nice usage of the darkness+scanning to make the platforming different. That first growl in the dark is scary!
Pretty fun, but might need to up the frequency of the drops that replenish your platform charges, seem t run out very quickly.
Great artwork, especially the backgrounds and the fish swimming about. Might need better instructions, to make it clear you need to get pearls from clams to make any real progress.
Very nice and challenging, at full speed it's really hard to aim into the gold blocks! Not sure if intended, but you can weave side to side to slow down your descent a little bit.
Should maybe put "infinite runner" somewhere in the description? Nice BG music and sfx. The background images are obviously clipped at some points. IDK if it was just my computer or what, but the frame rate was a bit weird for me, kind of made me dizzy.
Nice and straightforward tactical battle thingy! I couldn't get very far though, I always get surrounded! Nice and appropriate BGM
I didn't understand how to get the extra pickaxes that were inside the chests? Luckily I was able to make it to the end without needing them. The big icons block the tutorial dialog shown at the start. There's a typo in the end screen.
Nice concept for a control scheme, and it's a bit hilarious that your sub takes damage from fish. Who designed this ship?!? Also, it wasn't immediately obvious that the top-left icons were hits you could take.
Was really looking forward to seeing what jokes/puns were in each room lol
Pretty nice! I didn't have anyone to local multi with, so I tried playing by myself. The custom monster creation is really neat! The graphics and audio overall are great. Kinda weird that I can swim out of the visible area though.
Nice game! I didn't get at first that the ship couldn't die from getting hit and was trying to avoid everything lol that's what I get for not reading. The BG music is a banger!
Also, OMG I can't imagine using C++ for a very short period jam like this, great job!
@tyrannas yeah, basically each ship template has a bunch of slots where i put a randomly-chosen "component"
@bottled-up-dark-peace yeah, there's like a 25% chance of the big ship starting out
Thanks everyone for playing and for the feedback! Noted on the ship speed concerns and the timing between new ships, definitely areas for improvement!
I LOLed at the weird approach to the theme. If your strength gets high enough you should be able to punch through the wall!
I only got 13 ships to escape!
Nicely done, I love a good shooter. The graphics were great and I chuckled every time a new enemy description came out.
This is great work, although I was a bit confused at first at what to do. The ticking clock is a great mood-setter. I didn't get too far though, because I always get confused with tank controls!
This was great and hilarious and really speaks to my social anxiety lol. Great graphics and music too, good job!
Very nice and polished game. I'm really bad at rhythm-like games though so I couldn't get past stage 6! Despite that I kept trying for a while because it was quite fun. Maybe I'll come back to try to beat it later!
This is pretty chill and cool. I found the mouselook programmatic when not full-screen (like when playing via web), as when I stop turning when the mouse wanders out the play area.
I like the whole action queue thing, very nice and innovative. I could only get to 5300+ score D:
temp.pnh.png
Nice weird chess variant. You can get by for a long while by just sticking to the minority tile color of the bishop patrol - I got to 97 just by staying on white tiles, the AI didn't seem to like moving his white bishops too much. I like the shaky graphics style, but it can become tiring on the eyes after a while.
This was great. I just lot it when I saw the giant spiky monster lol. The map is fairly big, so a minimap might have been good. Great music and use of blood splatters and such.
snowman.png
This was so weird, right down to the carrot cursor, I love it lol. Even though I had no idea what was going on at the start. Why don't the penguins like the snowmen?!?
Solid theme interpretation. The whole Shift while moving horizontally thing is very weird. Music is nice and moody.
I liked the timed command options and the variance in actions (though I mistook -life +mana for -mana +life more than once, which made some rounds unnecessarily difficult.) It might be interesting to show what options the AI took. I mean, I sometimes have the option to deal 100 damage and I was kind of worried the AI also had something like that! A pretty good base to expand on.
I'm usually terrible with racing games but I enjoyed this one, with all the mayhem and violence and everything. All the physics seems great!
Is a bit difficult, but good/interesting concept. Only lasted around 34s!
Music and mood and aesthetic were great, but the constantly needing to keep your eyes open is kinda annoying, might have been better to be more forgiving / have longer timeouts. There were some spots where you could get stuck and fall in a hole and have no choice but to let your eyes close so you respawn.
I had no idea what I was doing at first, but once I got it, I got into a good rhythm. The strangely entrancing BGM helped get into the rhythm. I only got to level 68 though!
Lol this is so hard for me who has trouble aiming in 3d, especially as more buttons got added! Excellent atmosphere and voice acting. Good entry!
Sorry about that. If you have trouble with level 2, you can just press jump repeatedly against the wall to climb up. Made a video to demo it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG5FwGMuaeI
Thanks! BTW, I'm taking a break away from Ludum Dare for a few days, but when I get back I will review and give feedback also on everyone who commented. :D
@vykri collecting bonus stars lets you carry over excess time in the current stage to the next stage, so if you get them several stages in a row, you can easily accumulate a few extra seconds
An excellent submission, and very challenging! After many tries I was able to complete a run with like 4800+ pts. There was one level that I hated to see, the scribble leap one, I NEVER COMPLETED IT lol
timewarp0.pngtimewarp1.png
Excellent visuals and audio and polish and even with a level up system. My only complaint is that I feel like the jumps are a bit too floaty, which made scribble leap just a lot harder lol
Very nice, simple controls, easy to understand, a very rhythmic feel. A great entry!
It was interesting to try to figure out the best place to put blocks. Early on you want to stop their progress, because once they break through to the top half there is so very little protection. That caravan moves like those NPCs on escort missions lol. Surprisingly enjoyable entry despite the simplicity.
I like the way you addressed the theme, a lot of nice details like changing music and style every 10s. The rolling through things part was hardest, as I always seemed to die in that segment. Nice submission!
Okay, the description of the game wasn't too good so I had low expectations but this turned out surprisingly fun. I got to 19 stages I think before Aliens spawned and I was in a corner and no way out lol. Excellent use of the theme, simple and straightforward controls, cute graphics, nice audio and voiceover, a very good entry! I lol'ed at Pizza Party!
Exciting, but doing the math probably isn't for everyone lol. Pretty good submission for 5 hours!
Nice tower defense kind of thing, but as others mentioned there's a lot going on and a lot to take in and it can be really confusing at first; I had to restart a couple of times before I figured things out. I like the larger enemy ships that sometimes spawned and the first time one came out I was like eh, I need more missiles! And was a bit worried that an even bigger ship might spawn lol. I'm not sure why the drones needed to be toggled on and off, were they taking damage?
Excellent concept and graphics and music and animation and that clock shell is great. The foot can be a bit hard to avoid if you're already surrounded by a bunch of guys! Pretty good entry!
snail.png
Nice submission, but the controls aren't for me, I easily get confused by this kind of control scheme and wind up upside down and not knowing where I'm going lol. When you die, is there no restart button? I ended up having to reload the webpage every time. Seeing enemy fighters coming from behind you is a bit challenging.
Interesting story, though I don't think I managed to explore all the paths. Could have used more them tie-ins. Nice atmospheric music
Congrats on the submission! I just stuck with the sword all the time because I'm bad at aiming, and when there's archers it feels like they can kill you so quickly so you can't afford to miss. The music can get a bit repetitive. I'm not sure what some of the random effects like "Invasion" are supposed to be.
Nice and simple, feels like a Pac-Man where you switch from chasing to being chased every 10 seconds. A bit too easy maybe? Audio mood is on point. The thoughts being displayed in the center are great.
Love how the music sets up a very calm atmosphere despite your planet constantly being hit by asteroids. Also really enjoy that animation when the universe expands! I got to a point where my planet was so large and the surrounding bodies were very small and the asteroids never hit the other planets and I ran out of space debris to pick up. Good job on this entry!
The whole teleport into the enemies to kill them bit is interesting, and nice contrast with the 10s clock and using the slowmo. I would have preferred the slowmo activation on a different button as it took me a while to get used to not using spacebar to jump due to muscle memory. Good entry!
This was a challenge for my poor typing skills lol. Great atmosphere, music and graphics, I was so amused by the randomly-generated (I assume they are randomly-generated) customers' appearances. I wish I could dismiss the dialogs through keyboard, since shifting to the mouse is awkward as you need both hands on the keyboard for the main gameplay. Also sometimes, there's a customer waiting in a chair, but a new one comes in and gets to sit first, not sure if that's intended. Pretty good entry, works well with the theme!
Nice and well-polished. Although I didn't realize the little flame at the bottom was a fuse indicating the remaining time until I read it in the comments, might want to highlight that more or explain it explicitly. A fun, simple arcade-y kind of game.
Great music and graphics. Very challenging game for me. Not always clear what tile I am going to affect, might be nice to have a targeting reticule. Also, would be good to let me drop seeds outside the area when I accidentally pick up the wrong one, or maybe avoid spawning them too close to each other so that it's clear which ones you want to pick up. Good submission!
Nice idea. The info dump at the start was a bit challenging, might have wanted to ease the player into it. Probably needed more animation or other visual feedback, as I had to retry a few times because I had no idea what was going on. That sound at the start is surprisingly loud.
Good job on your first game! Might want to consider the difficulty as it was a bit too easy and there was little reason to aim anywhere other than straight up. A fun little arcad-y game!
This was so hard, but somehow I got there! You have to be lucky to spawn enough food close by as you can't really afford to go too far since your kittens will randomly walk into water if you look away even for a little bit. Excellent entry, great bgm, I do wish there were a bit more difference during night and day so that the transition is more significant.
kitten.png
Lol this was hilarious and great and fits the theme perfectly. My only regret is that I did not adjust the mouse sensitivity earlier, it gave me so much trouble at the start. Great voice acting!
Nice way to approach the theme. Very chill music and atmosphere. I tend to be very bad at these kinds of games though because there's so much going on; would have appreciated something like a price history for each cereale
Very nice. Simple and elegant implementation but with a lot of depth of content. Could have used some BGM, but otherwise excellent!
A fun simple fast-paced little shooter game that aligns nicely with the theme. Rocket launcher!
I am super tired, and I need to take a few days away from Ludum Dare after that. When I get back, I will happily review and give feedback to everyone who comments here :)
UI/presentation isn't the best, but it's a strangely enticing management game
This is so weird lol
Okay, this was great. The puzzles were great, the mechanics were great, cute graphics, appropriate BGM, excellent entry overall!
square.png
I did it! Lol this was surprisingly great. Probably spent too much time figuring out how to get that square. Such a simple and elegant design and implementation. Great and calm background music made it not too frustrating when you weren't getting the results you want.
I found the controls a bit confusing at first, but after I got the hang of it, it was hard not to appreciate the subtle flavor of cows mooing
Nice submission, but might be a bit too easy, since the AOE of the flame attack is fairly large and the drops heal you, you're almost never in any real danger. Well, maybe I haven't gotten far enough lol.
Those mean Pac-Mans keep chasing me and getting my stuff! Nice simple execution, I like the graphics and the fonts. Some text such as the "You win" message are cut off when I don't full-screen the app (they are shown complete when I click full-screen)
I lol'ed at the concept. This guy has a terrible job! The stage can be a bit challenging to navigate
Seems there's sometimes a bug in the display of how many I'm carrying of a bill:
atman.png
Very interesting and unique entry, quite challenging too!
Cute little submission with nice, simple graphics. I found the controls a bit difficult, but that just might be me not liking tank controls in general.
charles-the-bee.png
I am terrible at rhythm games, but somehow I managed to get there! The dance part is definitely the better half of the game, the pollen collecting was a bit tiring already by the third time. Also, was initially confused because the instructions said WASD to move but I wasn't expecting tank controls, but that's probably on me. I am not sure if there was any indicator during the dance section to show whether I was going to pass or fail; I was a bit nervous during the last one as it was quite hard!
Good job. The physics and the sprite animations could use some work, but overall a decent entry. I liked the ducks!
Nice concept, and cute and simple implementation, but is there no indication of how much I've already harvested? Is there a time limit? I'm not sure if I'm doing well.
Ok, this was great. Combining two kinds of card games into one was a great idea. Some more instructions would be nice, I played a couple of games before I figured out I was supposed to stack the cards while they were at the top like a solitaire game, instead of trying to stack them in the center box. Once I got the hang of it, it was fun and I suspect a fully-fleshed out version would turn out surprisingly deep.
Definitely has UI issues, but the concept is something with potential that you can build on. Could have used a timer to know when night is going to come
Controls were a bit confusing at first, could have used more detailed instructions. Fun once you get going though. Nice BGM.
Solid tower defense entry!
The atmosphere of this game, set by the audio and the graphics, are great and very relaxing. But yeah, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing. Also, sometimes I could combine like a blue and a red guy into one tile, but sometimes it didn't work? Not really sure why.
I got day 24! Not a lot I suppose lol, but I was so slow because I kept trying to avoid weaknesses so I was using the lightning one a lot. Neat concept and chill music give this one a good relaxing vibe, despite the fact that you are there to destroy things lol
