LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Down to the Wire by Mieeh 2022-04-07T22:19:18Z

Really great level design! you introduced concepts smoothly and intuitively even whilst the player is under a time crunch which is quite impressive. Additionally the audio and mood and gameplay are all great! One of the most fun games to come from this game Jam! Legitimately great work!

GO GA by unless games 2022-04-06T15:03:45Z

This game was so charming! It is definitely an excellent entry to the Jam. My main critic would be about the audio. Some background music would add to both the audio score and especially the mood. The graphics are fantastic and the concept is a very creative and new interpretation of the theme! Great job!

Snowman Souls by LJay 2022-04-05T00:32:51Z

That was a blast! I really like the idea of snow melting, it works very well for the theme. The individual graphics assets look pretty sweet! Definitely the game can be really difficult out of the mechanic but also out of lack of indicators telling you were to go. But the running story is a nice touch! Also, thank you for rating my game and great job on y'alls Jam! :D

Pyramid defense by Maskrosen 2022-04-07T03:55:59Z

My team was considered a tower defense as a possibility and its really cool to see one come to fruition! Definitely there is some issues with balancing that make the game not fit the 'inevitable' idea but thats nothing that can't be fixed with a few tweaks here and there. I would recommend maybe a post submission patch and have a link to each version on your page so that you can improve this game that definitely has potential. I really like the tower defense idea and I think you did a great job overall. The sound effects are solid and the gameplay fits the grab and go style of the Jam. Good job!

Slither And Fire by J0ye 2022-04-06T16:13:56Z

Pretty solid experience. It was short, simply, and oddly satisfying. It kept me on my toes which I consider to be very important. Solid entry! (and it's crazy that you could do this in 12 hours!)

REWOB by alanxoc3 2022-04-08T04:05:58Z

Definitely a bit difficult to grasp the concepts but a really cool game in concept. I would say a tutorial level of sorts as well as what IdeasPerSecond said about zooming out the camera would benefit the game a lot so as such I think this is an amazing project with great potential so maybe consider continuing it or doing some post-submission updates (just make sure to keep a link to the original as well). Now then, the audio and the graphics were ON-POINT! Even if I didn't know what all was going on for a fair bit, I was down for whatever it was throughout cause something about the classic old-arcade-esque space ships is so satisfying, especially when it has been recreated so well. Great job y'all!

Never Alone by fachscahfttf 2022-04-07T21:44:15Z

Super unique idea! How in the world did you even manage that in such a short time!? Crazy good work! The lighting and music help a lot with the mood, kept things high energy and upbeat. Big fan of the graphics too, feels like an old arcade cabinet. Only complaint would be with difficulty but I understand how that fits with the Jam's theme as well as the game's mechanic so no big complaints. Super solid entry!

Running the Clock by Boykala 2022-04-05T01:11:19Z

I. Loved. This. GAME! It was just so charming! I think the brevity of the experience just adds so much! Phenomenal all around. My only complaint is that at the very end of the game some text appears and that text only showed up for a few frames before vanishing for me. I played through the game twice and it happened both times. Regardless, this game is just too adorable, I'm surprised anyone was able to make an RPG, much less such a good RPG! Fantastic job :)

Hot Blocks by Nexade 2022-04-05T00:56:09Z

Fantastic game! It's a simple idea that is well executed and fun to learn. My main gripe is that, even this the levels, once you learn the mechanic it wears thin. However, the sound effects are on point and the general polish is off the charts! Great work!

Shady Taxi by spacecadet 2022-04-08T12:21:37Z

The idea of an animated intro sounds really cool but with the web version it seemed to be too laggy to appreciate. The gameplay is simple once you get the hang of it and it keeps my attention which is very important in a game, so great job!

Ant CRISIS by Ambear 2022-04-10T23:15:06Z

You did a great job with the overall atmosphere though I found myself getting lost both in where to go and what to do. Sometimes I would find a plant but would be unable to pick it up. Additionally, I would suggest a mini map or maybe some arrows pointing the player to plants that they could use. Past that however the graphics were great and the rain in the background added a lot, solid entry!

Awakening by 1studio 2022-04-07T04:15:32Z

Visually it was very appealing and you nailed the mood for me! Especially since, while I've seen people do games about homework and procrastination, I never saw one so realistic and kudos to you for that. Fantastic work!

LeapSheep by joselor 2022-04-08T03:55:21Z

Really cool idea with an interesting movement system! I did find myself getting caught on stuff quite often though I would just chalk that up to a learning curve. Even without a song playing in the background of the gameplay the mood of the game was great! Y'all captured the transition from the bright and upbeat green hills to the gritty terror of a wolf so well! Fantastic work guys1

AutoGrid by ObsceneBard 2022-04-08T12:34:49Z

This is the kind of game where just some steady background audio would add so much. The gameplay is interesting and unique and is definitely the kind of thing that I would get hooked on and want to learn the strategy of, but the mood is way off due to the dead silence. Outside of that, the game is fantastic, good work guys!

You shall not pass by Senso 2022-04-06T13:07:38Z

The game was a ton of fun and it is outstanding how you were able to put this together in one day. Only complaint is that I don't see how it fits the "Delay the Inevitable" theme. Aside from that I really enjoyed it!

ALL IS LOST by Miime 2022-04-08T04:46:15Z

The cleaner aesthetic is glorious and fits really well! A simple but effect concept that is has now been done exceptionally well, fantastic job :)

Playing Dave! by Bdiaztobarra 2022-04-05T01:24:06Z

WOW! I was expecting to play some rushed video games, not an artistic masterpiece! Fantastic work all around. Easily 5 stars!

Calcium Carnage by cactusdan 2022-04-04T18:20:35Z

I'm a huge fan of the temporary pick up and the music works really well! The gameplay is fun which is the most important thing you could do.

Time's... Up! by Waysneighborgo2 2022-04-05T00:49:12Z

All around a pretty solid game! the best part (and the most important part) is that its fun. I found it pretty satisfying to just dash through enemies, so much so that I started ignoring the main objective just to mess around! I think that implementing some particle effects when killing an enemy could be cool. In summary: simple, good, & fun.

Life Finds a Way by Mopifish 2022-04-06T16:23:09Z

There is so much to say but in summary: AMAZING GAME!! Definitely the best one i've seen so far. I tried to go down a similar route in my game but applications of tools was reduced to unfinished stretch goals; however, it is really cool to see that idea executed so well! I need to send the person on my team who suggested having specific tools this game :)

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

10 Second Pizza Delivery by hungryroy 2022-10-03T18:16:42Z

Kudos for having a full and finished game! That is quite the feat on its own. In addition to that you manage to introduce a number of unique mechanics. The graphics definitely takes me out of the game but that as well as audio mixing would be the only changes I would make.

HAZCAT - Toxic Feline by johnnysix 2022-10-05T15:17:13Z

As everyone has been saying, the art looks super nice! Additionally, I really enjoyed the gameplay and so I sped run it a bit and my record is 00:00:17! [Screen Shot 2022-10-05 at 10.15.18 AM.png](///raw/47d/34/z/5256b.png) I noticed a few things: first, you can scale the right side of the map all the way to the top small platform parkour section (hence my time), second, I fell down and got trapped by the moving bridge and had to sit there until the acid made its way up to me, third, the screen shake is sometimes a bit too much and forces me to stop playing so that I can see where I'm going. Note that I played the Compo version.

10 Secs Snakes by gagapete 2022-10-03T16:13:05Z

A simple game that is well done. My only complaint lies in the fact that snake games are moderately common; however, I will give credit where credit is due as it forces the player to rethink their normal snake strategy as the player doesn't have time to coil themselves up in a neat bundle, forcing them to be on the move. Good job!

Bug Zapper by Diego Escalante 2022-10-06T03:58:55Z

A simple game concept which fits perfectly within a Jam, good job! My main complaint lies in the fact that with such a cool presence, the background audio and effects just don't fully sell it for me. Additionally I want to say that the opening segment where the player has to prove they know the core mechanic to play the game is a very clever and effective tutorial, so kudos there :)

Avoid Asteroid by zubspace 2022-10-06T12:58:06Z

Fantastic game and super well polished! My only concern would be that the theme doesn't seem to weight into the gameplay all too much as gravitational pull drags you in too quickly for a timer to be relevant. Regardless, a fun, engaging, and challenging experience and that intro sequence was on point! definitely a contender for the best game of the Compo I'd argue :)

DUNES RIDER by Clément K 2022-10-05T23:56:00Z

Most everything has been said, the intro cutscene was great and sound would add a lot to the vibe overall. My main complaint is the due to the random resources I had runs where I just wouldn't get one such as red making it so that my ship was doomed without my control. Regardless, great job and the setting of the mood really hooked my on it!

Tower of Time 2 by CodeRaurus 2022-10-06T13:07:01Z

Fantastic entry, it kept me engage to the very end! The background and lore helped aid the overall experience by a lot but as this was a sequel to a game I haven't played, I wasn't all to certain what I was doing nor what the end goal symbols were supposed to imply. Regardless, kudos for making the timer not start until the player starts moving. A simply game that is done phenomenally well!

Needy Pixel Kitties by Aaron Smith 2022-10-03T23:26:26Z

Fantastic game, but it seems like you already know that from all the other comments :) The only useful input I could give would be to vary the meows some as when you use the shift ability it gets loud. Ultimately you did a great job and your daughter did amazing on the credits!

(also thank for you having commented and played my game <3)

The Gemancipator by spooncats 2022-10-03T21:14:06Z

Satisfying game, especially when you get a whole slew of 'em. My main complaint is that the game doesn't seem to give enough of a challenge to care about the central mechanic (most of the time I am just spam clicking random spots around the map and I seem to be doing well). I will say though, it was a treat when I found out the protagonist's name was "Crush Stonejaw".

RADARE by Cogent.Invalid 2022-10-03T20:49:00Z

I very much enjoyed the color scheme and the audio was quite nice as well. The gameplay is simple yet challenging which made me want to keep playing. My only concern would be that the bombs don't seem to be worth the risk of diverting your attention away from survival. Regardless, fantastic job! (and the game runs super smoothly)

$EasyMoney by sslees 2022-10-04T16:05:36Z

Kudos for making a game that took all of the obvious and simple interpretations of the theme and synthesizing an unique experience! Sadly, in staying true to the theme some mechanics (specifically the jumping on timer and gravity change) mechanics became more of a nuisance than a challenge. All said in done, solid submission and keep up the great work!

HEXABOMINATION by Jacek_s0905 2022-10-04T12:56:59Z

Pretty neat game! I haven't seen another hexagon based puzzle. My main complaint lies in the fact that the game does not feature the theme all too well; furthermore, the controls take a bit to learn, making it take longer until one gets to properly enjoy the game. Regardless though, congrats on getting a fully functioning game within only 36 hours!

Cutthroat Cannoneer by Glove 2022-10-03T13:56:37Z

@dollcoded I appreciate the feedback! I was hoping to add a new mechanic to it at some point and that is a fantastic idea! @jackaljk to answer your question, the boat sinks when the timer (represented by the fuse at the bottom) is fully used up. The enemy projectiles act purely as an obstacle. Thanks to everyone for playing! :)

Cutthroat Cannoneer by Glove 2022-10-05T14:39:33Z

@real-human-1000 @gagapete I really appreciate the kind words! I've never uploaded a webgame before outside of itch.io but maybe I'll look into it :) @lustdante good point, I really wanted to add more depth to the game in the form of some ability for the player. One idea was a dash that leaves the player with a couple second penalty of walking after dashing. @hungryroy you are absolutely correct. I set up the whole game to not started until the first enemy ship spawns so that I could asd a little indicator at the start of the game but sadly I did not have time to implement that.. @serxiolas @gagapete I realized that about the pixel sizes towards the vary end of the time limit and yeah... this is my second time working with pixel art in video games and so thank you for letting me know what to look out for! I appreciate any and all feedback, thank y'all so much :)

Cutthroat Cannoneer by Glove 2022-10-06T19:44:24Z

@pixelydian Thank you for your feedback! Funny you mention having stuff rolling across the screen as I wanted to have a barrel roll across the bottom deck as an additional obstacle. Additionally I wish I thought of making the anchor rotate to compensate for the tilting of the ship. @diego-escalante I appreciate the kind words! I do agree I made the game start at an easier pace and then follow a faster rate of scaling so that new players can get the hang of things. @landosystems I absolutely agree; I wish that I made it so that the player can always use their skills to get out of rough situation but sadly it appears that you can get unlucky and have that end a run in specific scenarios. @airwaffle I am very happy to hear! I was going for a game with a simple but engaging loop and it seems like I succeeded. In case you are curious, the world record is 21 as done by a friend of mine which was then tied shortly after by yours truly :) (scores are going off of the ships sunk not the hearts remaining)

Cutthroat Cannoneer by Glove 2022-10-07T11:58:01Z

@zubspace thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed! @coderaurus I agree in full. I was hoping to have a small tutorial segment, maybe just text bubbles indicating what each element indicates but I sadly ran out of time. Another thing I ran out of time for is the sound mixing as I finished making the song 30 minutes before the deadline and I knew I would've had to watch some tutorials on how to do sound mixing as I have never done it before. Regardless, thank you! @acdimalev I noticed that after porting it the music sometimes wouldn't loop properly and so thank you for the pointer as to how to go about fixing that. The layering of the cannon was a last minute blunder sadly, I had everything working but then I moved some stuff around and forgot to fix that. Moving on, the score system is set up to be able to be pulled from on the end screen but sadly I once again ran out of time. Thanks everyone for playing and getting me to the 20 ratings threshold :)

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-06T13:14:11Z

It seems like everything has been said already in the comments so just now that I quite enjoyed the game (as someone who takes latin as a language, I appreciate seeing latin used someone other than a tombstone)

Swapply by chevre 2022-10-03T12:00:56Z

Well done! This game did a fantastic job of working with the theme given; however, in doing so well with the theme, the game lost me to a degree when I would have to wait 10 seconds every now and then. The puzzles were enticing though as I played the game to the end. The best part of the whole experience was probably the music and how it implemented the concept of the game into something less abstract. Once again, well done :)

Mob Defense by AStrayRae 2022-10-04T19:20:45Z

I really love the idea as you created a super unique mechanic that I would love to see become a full game (it kind of reminded me the game Noita's wand creation). As you are well aware of in to your To-Do section, the game doesn't feel like a complete game, instead more like a concept. I truly hope you continue this game as I see so much potential. Keep up the great work!

Bloodthirst by dollcoded 2022-10-05T15:00:13Z

Fantastic job! The controls and game play seems really smooth and it keeps you on your toes; plus, the pixelated art and the simple but hostile terrain add a lot to the mood. A couple of small critiques: the ammo display gets covered up by the UI making it feel like my gun would jam randomly, and right out the gate if you got hit once then it felt like that run was over for the most part due to that opening corridor (a sollution to this might be to give the player some blood to start with). But over all you have a coherent and interesting game, good job!

ROSWELL AREA ███████ WASTE DISPOSAL, INC. by Real_Human_1000 2022-10-03T00:59:24Z

Cool game concept and the execution of it isn't half bad! The kicker for me is the lack of sound as even some metal churning in the background would add to the mysterious warehouse vibe. I very much enjoyed the story of it and I found humor in the specificity of it. Good job!

LD53 — Delivery

Delivery Squares by Elementary 2023-05-01T18:36:42Z

I found the controls and indicators to be very intuitive which is something many games don't do. Alas, I found the game to be quite difficult not due to a lack of understanding of the controls, but simply because of the immense tokyo-drifting. Keep it up!

▲●■♚ by Jimbly 2023-05-04T17:28:37Z

This game got me hook; I played until I unlocked all the factory-tile-node-things! The audio and graphics were calm and relaxing and the intuitiveness of the game-play speaks for itself because there are no words. Alas, I wasn't able to figure out how to get the green crown unlocked, but I still enjoyed playing. Fantastic job!

Terror in transit by tinykidtoo 2023-05-03T23:29:09Z

A lot of things have been said before, but I want to give special credit to the leaning mechanic. Being able to poke your head around corners works a lot towards immersion and really sells it for me! One suggestion/critique I have is that instead of having so many mechanics, just focus on a few central ones and explore what they have to offer (for instance, I never found myself actually using the drone-view, though I do like the visual of the drone following the player around). But as is, it is still a really well done game, especially for a COMPO!

Arcana Express by Joe Cowman 2023-05-03T03:30:39Z

Really great job incorporating risk-reward in terms of the resource management affecting the scoring!

Decrypting Handwriting by pauljs 2023-05-01T12:23:33Z

Really cool idea! I don't have all too much to add, you found a simple yet unique idea and ran with it.

LD53: House Delivery! by burnedkirby 2023-05-02T01:46:53Z

Seems like everything there is to say has been said. A simple but well done game. I got a streak of 25 houses without ever slowing down!

Ancient DeliveROARier by Kontroman 2023-05-01T04:54:58Z

I'm going to be fully honest with you: I had no idea what I was doing but I enjoyed every second of it. The idea of interpreting people's text as to figure out how to prevent obstacles is neat, but I found myself having enough money to just buy everything. Regardless, to address the elephant in the room: 5 star audio. Great submission!

Deliver Us From Evil by candlesan 2023-05-03T23:16:27Z

I've seen some other games centered in the dark, but this one did a great job taking full advantage of it by having mechanics such as flares and muzzle flashes! The game was difficult, but that added to the atmosphere. Good job!

Good Boy! by DJTequila 2023-05-02T03:52:52Z

Really fun idea with a really cool art style! I found the dog to be quite unruly, though, almost as if I was driving a car or something which hindered the gameplay. Put that is something that can be fixed if you so wish fairly easily, just a bit of experimenting and such. Great submission!

Crystal Courier by Likirus 2023-05-03T13:47:04Z

The driving controller is feels really natural! I was a bit confused what the range upgrade did, because I assumed it was pick-up range but that wasn't the case from what I could tell when I got the upgrade. Regardless, the controls were nice, the objective was clear, there was room to learn and improve as a player: A really fun experience!

Pack 'em UP! by Timbaleek 2023-05-03T00:52:17Z

A really easy to pick up game with an absurd amount of content for a Jam. I did notice a bug where, in the factory, if I went towards where the instructions were (e.g. the right side of the screen) then the game would crash except for the music. Other than that, great job!

Boxbrawl Delivery by Cruise Elroy 2023-05-01T04:46:57Z

Wow, I was not expecting to get nostalgia for Mappy, especially considering I hardly played that game. Your game does such a great job of emulating classic games while simultaneously being a fun and super well polished experience in it of itself. Simply outstanding job!

Zero gravity delivery by island-jam-2-group-3 2023-05-02T04:01:28Z

Much of what I would have to say has already been said: tutorial is great, simple enjoyable mechanic. I feel like this is a good starting point; maybe add in some music and another box color later. There's a lot you could do if you so wish to continue the project, in which case I would be excited to see where you take it!

Goods With the Wind by Juutis 2023-05-07T03:49:31Z

Good job! The plane controls feel very well made, even if I'm not used to flying a plane! My main issue comes in the form of not knowing when to drop a package in order to get it to land on a village; I wish there is an indicator of sorts that told you the trajectory of the box. Special shoutout for adding water particles that work when you dip a crate into a lake. Very niche touch but I stumbled across it in my play-through and thought it quaint :)

Neverending PetriChore by snakemuho 2023-05-01T15:46:24Z

Really cool graphics and animations! visually you do a great job. My main concerns lie with the objects/level design as I could never tell where the umbrellas were despite finding all the tents. Other than that, it never hurts to add more enemies and stuff to a game but that is simply always the case with COMPO. Fantastic job, so far one of my favorites I've played!

Bundle Dumper: Florida Edition by cheesepencil 2023-05-01T04:23:15Z

Fantastic job on not only managing a COMPO but also your first PICO-8! My first reaction upon booting up the game was worrying as I was, in a somewhat literal sense, cast off into plummeting free-fall without a parachute to pace my learning of the controls. However, after reading the controls in the pause menu I foundd a fairly intuitive challenge. My favorite part of the game must be the eagerness of the "alligators [who] will chew you up like bubblegum" every time I would fly even remotely low to the ground. My main suggestion, were you to improve upon this project, would be to add some purely visual trail indicator of the drones because I unfortunately had to learn every level through trial by fire. Regardless, great work and keep it up!

Porch Protectors by macs 2023-05-03T01:51:37Z

Really fun game! A cute and humorous story with an intuitive and engaging minigame included. I don't really have any complaints about the game except maybe having the player have dialogue options that influence the outcome of the story (maybe there was something that I just missed, in which case making whatever it was more prevalent would be beneficial). All in all, great submission!

Papi's Delivery Ops: Cardbark Infiltration by nox282 2023-05-01T05:16:37Z

An incredibly adorable experience! I am more than happy to have made Papi's day :D. One potential suggestion, were you to continue this project, would be to add some more effects to the game itself in order to carry the mood from the cutscenes over to the gameplay

ON TIME by VirtualMan52 2023-05-07T18:44:54Z

Wow, this is a really made puzzle game. The mechanics are simple in principle and easy digestible while still allowing for complexity! I found myself very stuck on level 7, only stumbling upon an answer; however, I don't often play puzzle games. Everything felt super well made, especially for a COMPO game! incredible job.

PigCulture by sami822 2023-05-01T11:53:42Z

Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! I found the game to be quite humorous and with an intuitive concept. The central set-back for me was that I was experience a ton of lag whilst playing, which was strange because while the world was having trouble, the music was playing just fine. But that aside, a more open-world game for a Jam quite the cool idea. Good job!

Meat Sweats by Str8griz 2023-05-03T15:31:50Z

Meat Sweats is just so powerful of a name.

Really great entry! I kept me on my toes and engaged the whole time. Each minigame was fairly intuitive; however, I wish the rooms appeared in the same order as their item counterpart (ergo, drink minigame on the left, napkins down and in the middle, sauce to the right). That is my only real complain, everything else was great!

Rat Delivery Service by Dinoraz 2023-05-09T23:22:22Z

Wow, I adore this game. First and foremost 5 star innovation! I also loved the mood and story and really just everything about it! I suppose, to be fair and give critique, the gameplay loop gets rather repetitive and I wish there was some incentive to save your money so as to add more complexity than just memorization. But all in all I absolutely love how much of a world you were able to create with so few game elements and in such a strict time frame. Phenomenal job!

PigeonPost by Jim jagers 2023-05-05T02:27:38Z

I'm impressed in how you managed so many different level backgrounds/tile-sets! The central mechanic is simple and able to be expanded on. I wanted to give an extra shout out to the level with the snow rabbit, it furthered explored time limit which is a really smart move from a game development perspective: using everything you have to the fullest!

The Envelope by DzejPi 2023-05-01T15:29:07Z

You did a great job in establishing the tone of the game thanks to the fog and the dialogue. I do wish that there was some indicator when you hit the monster, as well as something that would tell you if the monster was approaching. Moving on, I am surprised how smoothly you got a 3d game to run in browser. Great stuff!

Morse Deliverer by SurWeaver 2023-05-07T19:01:04Z

A level generator is a really cool idea for a Jam! I wish there was some third ability like an attack with breakable blocks or something to add more complexity to the game itself. All in all, morse code was a really cool idea, good job!

Return back to sender by Migcreatesgames 2023-05-01T04:30:28Z

A simple but enjoyable game. I might have to start using that hitting the screen idea in my own games. Also, though I am sure you are aware, I quickly adopted the strategy of waiting for the box to be on my horizontal then dashing cross-map. Hopefully see you in a future Jam!

Joy by Neollok 2023-05-01T21:16:49Z

Goodness me! Wow, I was not expecting such a beautifully told story from a COMPO about 'delivery'. I get that you delivery joy onto others, but I don't really see how grief counseling fits in with the theme... But that plus the fact the platform can be akin to a rage game at some parts are my only complaints; everything else is phenomenal. One of the best projects I've seen so far. Exceptionally great work!

Its All in the Delivery by Glove 2023-05-01T05:05:34Z

@nox282 I know what you mean. I was worried people wouldn't understand the connection to the theme so I felt I had to plaster it in the title of the game and tutorial.

@cheesepencil @jakeblake I'm glad y'all enjoyed the art! First time using unity's post processing and yet I am very happy with how it turned out! Also, yeah... not that the standard deliverable game is bad, but it is repetitive so I'm glad I could break up some monotony

@netrunner-nobody Aw shucks! That is the single nicest comment I have received in a Game Jam! (other people reading this, feel free to one up them; I don't mind :D) I agree it would be nice to have more stories and more cards and more content overall, but when is that not the case in a Jam.

@seurimas Totally agree, I wish I had time to balance the scoring and to make it more intuitive, but as it stands I made something that is too complex for me to understand yet it outputs score similar to what I would otherwise award.

Its All in the Delivery by Glove 2023-05-01T20:45:08Z

@dzejpi @nick-baggett Glad y'all enjoyed it!

@elementary I wanted to have a whole sequence where you are introduced to the mechanic by helping the guy introduce the crowd. Sadly time crunch is ever-present, but that is the origin of "the crowd here tonight" card.

@rickylee Fun fact, the game is fully prepared to incorporate more stories were I to have had a chance to have written more. Additionally, I added then later removed a "forgetting" mechanic in which cards would lose their Call Back after a couple of turns, but once I saw how short the game was going to be I got rid of it.

@snakemuho We do occasionally partake in tomfoolery.

@corporation As a card game lover myself, I stated before seeing the theme that I would make a card game and here we are! The text bug is thanks to me not fully understanding Unity's TextMeshPro.

Its All in the Delivery by Glove 2023-05-03T02:10:50Z

@torte478 @theguy @yellow-attic I'm glad y'all enjoyed the game <3

@delequesce Unfortunately a safety feature turned into an annoying bug that I only realized after submission time. Basically, you would get soft-locked if you didn't have a noun, so I made it check to see if you had a noun in hand already and if not, find a noun in the deck to draw guaranteed. However, I guess something bugged out with the HandHasNoun check meaning you only draw nouns at the start of each turn. It's a bummer but I feel like the game has enough replay value for people to restart and get new modifiers. Regardless, glad you enjoyed!

@nathan-franck I hadn't thought about that interpretation, but you're totally right. I was going for the warm-and-cozy vibe with a hint of anxiety (the increasing vignette during the joke reading) to match how the novice stand-up comedian was feeling–nervous. On one hand I'm glad that side of things came through, but I hope you still had a chance to enjoy the rest :)

@dishwand That is quite the complement to be compared to pilotredsun! Glad you enjoyed.

Its All in the Delivery by Glove 2023-05-05T03:01:52Z

@olddog @lvl99chicken @hcs-hades @lady @t-c I really glad y'all enjoyed it <3

@island-jam-2-group-3 I get it is unlikely for you to replay the game, but holding down the mouse button speeds up the text (and my banjo-esque voice to the point I sound like a chipmunk). Glad you enjoyed otherwise!

@noobman64 Totally agree, just wasn't time. I'm happy that you wanted to replay it though; I tried to ensure each run is different, and it seems like stuff like skipping the tutorial was appreciated too :)

@macs those callback points 0_0! That aside, the only thing I didn't get to in my 'necessary' to-do list was to add more cards and stories; maybe I can add that on after the jam is over.

Click to Deliver by Noobman64 2023-05-03T13:54:07Z

For a clicker game at least it has some variety in terms of the "baby shower" button. All it would take would be to make the baby shower button move around the screen or something and you have a more interactive game. Not bad as a start and I'm sure you could expand on it if you so wish. Also the dialogue was quite humorous!

Seagullarity by torte478 2023-05-01T23:20:03Z

It's always fun to learn some trivia from Jam games and so for that I thank you! There is certainly a steep learning curve (it is a real life job after all), but you have created a very good tutorial to assist that. Great job!

Delivery Man by the3rdHunter 2023-05-05T18:07:53Z

I really like the black and white graphics and the megaman-esque jump sprite! I feel like a minimap would help the game out a lot, given the arrow indicator doesn't really show what path you are intended to take. That aside, good job!

Ultimate Package by Triangle Point 2023-05-01T05:41:45Z

Most things I could say already have been said, but that isn't going to stop me. The box fort as an environment is a really cool idea! Overall a pretty short but solid experience.

De-livery by Sylf 2023-05-01T22:57:21Z

Took me a few attempts to get the hang of it, but I ended up getting to 67! Needless to say, the game would have benefitted from a little introductory tutorial about what each cell does, but other than that it is a pretty fun arcade-esque experience!

Catnip Caper by ShatteredMindofBob 2023-05-04T02:18:35Z

Finishing a game is a feat on its own, so this game is a huge accomplishment! I did quite enjoy the little bounce in the step of the cat, it added to a more upbeat and goofy vibe :)

De-Livery: A Game About Organ Removal Surgery by Real_Human_1000 2023-05-01T03:52:44Z

A very solid entry! You found a unique mechanic and an even more unique interpretation of the theme. Naturally, the game is limited in its scope, but there is value in finding something small and doing it well. Keep up the great work :)

Box Rush by Phyrocast 2023-05-08T01:02:37Z

I am impressed that you got a full animated player done in your first game jam (and a COMPO no less)! I ran into a similar issue for my first jam in that the mouse sensitivity was too high after uploading it to html, to which a slider would be helpful. Other than that, cool idea and good job!

Pigeon Brigade by Iqoribou 2023-05-04T12:17:25Z

As a highscool student myself, I think it is great that you are encouraging students to partake in Game Jams :D

This is a really unique mechanic that is done very well! Inherent to the mechanic, however, the game-play loop is fairly slow, but it does allow room for mastery once one learns how to send multiple pigeons off. Maybe a way to incentivize the faster paced game-play style could be to do a calculation while planning that will tell you if a pigeon will hit something on its path (that could be a fair bit of work, I'm just spitballing here)? that aside, the graphics are clean and satisfying and I managed to pick up the relatively complex mechanic quite quickly, without having to read a novel worth of tutorial text.

Baby Printer by ludev 2023-05-03T01:58:30Z

Yeah... not to brag, but I'm a bit of a 3.08 presumably stars stork myself. delivered 15 families, annoyed 8, and ruined 2 B)

Jokes aside, this was a simple but fun entry. I know everyone has already commented about this, but the audio is on point. My main suggestions would be to add some sort of movement option (maybe a dash with a cooldown or something), and then double down on what the game does very well: add more possible voice lines for the houses to really give it that extra mile. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my time playing, good job!

Deli's Whale Delivery by theguy 2023-05-01T05:32:28Z

I got confused about how the route assignment affected the transportation portion. I understand that it decides how far you travel, but after I reach the first stop I have to mash continue a few times until eventually it sends me to a new route assignment. Questions aside, I did enjoy the art and especially the audio. Additionally, I think that seasickness (spacesickness?) is a cool mechanic that was implemented well. Good job on the COMPO!

Delivery Witch by kgurniak91 2023-05-01T15:53:58Z

I glad you decided to see your first Jam through to the end! Good job coming up with a unique mechanic that is indicated very nicely. Naturally there could be improvements in having multiple levels and stuff of the sort, but with the card you were dealt you did amazing!

Punchline! by Federyee 2023-05-02T01:33:44Z

You know, for whatever reason I really like the idea of helping a bearded, novice, stand-up comedian with delivering jokes... Man, just can't put my finger on it, oh well. (delivering-jokes games represent!)

Jokes aside (despite how relevant they may be) you do a great job in terms setting up the tone thanks to the music and graphics. I commend you for making a 3d game without overdoing the fact that it is 3d (i.e. a game that rounds at 1/2 fps in browser). The mini-games are intuitive and I adore the implication of collecting a microphone making a burping noise. Within the repair mini-game, often times the repair button for one of the speakers wasn't working which made replay the game a couple of times before I could get to see the end scene. All in all, great entry!

The Lightless Caves by nimbushead 2023-05-03T03:38:13Z

Unfortunately, the lack of information the player receives is too big a hurdle for me to fully enjoy the game. I found myself unsure of what I was doing and if mechanics were working. It seems like you have some unique ideas, I have yet to see another "in the dark" game for instance, and so I would love to see how your future Jams turn out!

Boxed Out by freakyzelga 2023-05-03T15:55:15Z

Initially, with the core game mechanic being to click and wait, I was worried the game would feel boring, but by the end with the time limit and split second decision making I was fully engaged and wished there was more! The art is super cool, but sound and stuff of the like wouldn't hurt. A potentially idea to explore would be to add in more complexity to the decision making; one idea for this could be that if you get all deliveries of the same color or something, then you get a bonus. Good job jamming!

Gold Deliveries by Wave Propagation 2023-05-10T02:06:07Z

I appreciate how the game is intuitive enough that a tutorial isn't even needed. I personally ended up getting a 173 my first run and a 250 my second. A simply but well done entry :) Screen Shot 2023-05-09 at 9.05.22 PM.png

Pizza Race by E-polygon 2023-05-04T11:43:27Z

Its great to see fellow highschool students participating in Jams! They are just such a great way to experience the entirety of game development process. Great job finishing a game, that in it of itself is a huge feat; especially great job for making such an enjoyable game! the tight controls were a good choice as opposed to a more floaty acceleration based movement system you might otherwise see on vehicles, and the touch of moving backwards faster than you do forwards at does of great job of giving the speed on the highway a frame of reference. Excited to see y'all in a future Jam if you so wish to participate :)

LD54 — Limited Space

Ishmael by dob 2023-10-03T22:09:49Z

I love the whole island system, it is really cool to see how my island changed and became tailored throughout my playthrough. A cool idea that was executed fairly well! To balance out the criticism I suppose, I had bought a cannon early on and never was able to place it due to the nature of the world generation. That aside, great job!

Hangover Hole by DiscoFish 2023-10-04T01:37:33Z

A really cool mechanic done in such a beautiful fashion! The visuals are amazing my guy, I am honestly blown away! Would have loved more levels but you do what you gotta do. Incredible work, I love this game for so many reasons but I don't want to repeat myself. Just, great job!

(like the pfp)

River Dance by mdotedot 2023-10-03T00:20:13Z

A lighthearted sense of humor and a creative interpretation of the theme? Whats not to love! Its been said to death already, but gameplay is slow which unfortunately takes away from the rest of the surreal vibe. Still though, I enjoyed my time working through all the levels, really had to make me think! Great job, and it sounds like you already have learned some ways to improve this or future puzzlers :)

Limited Headspace by OadT 2023-10-03T00:37:20Z

Wow! Such an amazing idea! I'll see what I can contribute comment-wise that hasn't already been so before (it has only been 2.5 hours out of 3 weeks! Good job man!). The interpretation of the theme is delightfully abstract but nevertheless logical and was integrated into a digestible yet cerebral puzzler. Despite simplistic graphics the mood is surprisingly fitting for the old man. New mechanics are added with their needed care/teaching, yet still introduced smoothly without slowing the pace of the game. This is some incredible work from a level design perspective, jeez Louise! Can't wait to see what else you come up with in future Jams :)

Door Slammers by gagouman 2023-10-03T21:44:06Z

After a number of failed attempts, I followed @bernhard's strategy a found some success. I enjoyed the experience overall, a nice intuitive gameplay loop is also a great thing. For a small observation, the hitbox for the trash can (while it makes sense logically) caused me to waste a handful of precious time as I would drag it to the trash can as a whole instead of the top of it.

Cave Crawl by jellycopter 2023-10-03T01:41:41Z

I like the idea, but I unfortunately kept clipping a limb or torso into one of the walls during the first crawl section and wasn't able to progress :(. Working with what I managed to do, the mood is set very nicely with the aggressive breathing, and the main player just looks so jolly with it's human face plaster upon it. I enjoyed your work and wish I could have seen more. Best of luck!

Rafty Crab by kuviman 2023-10-05T22:15:46Z

The game was a joy to get to play during a stream! Definitely is a ton of fun in a hazardous lobby. For small critique the seagull crosshair does not appear to be entirely accurate, but that may just be due to latency or something. Regardless that doesn't take away from the fun, great job!

Petits Chats by FullSaphir 2023-10-03T00:08:50Z

Really cool idea and hilariously relatable interpretation of the theme. Also, your cat looks way too much like my cat-like-to a concerning degree. Great job!

Wedding Planner by kory 2023-10-03T13:04:18Z

Really cool idea that you can do a lot from! I encourage you to continue adding more levels because you have made an awesome foundation. Excited to see what you come up with in future Jams. (also the music is amazing!!)

Ticket to Mars 🎫🚀 by TheJookerful 2023-10-03T00:45:03Z

I am so happy to see this idea come to fruition! For a bit on my brainstorming doc I had "solar system realtor," for it has some pleasant double entendre in regards to the phrase 'Limited Space'. Needless too say I enjoy the interpretation of the theme, but I also adore the visuals at the end of a run with all of your peeps as well as the space age soundtrack. Great work!

Limited Heart by Dennis Magnusson 2023-10-03T21:34:51Z

Really cool idea to interweave a larger narrative into your game via live action video! Funny dialogue while still managing to have a somber mood, great work writing/audio wise. Also, I enjoyed proudly marching into my softlock, if only I were David.

M8B1674-00D4 by a327ex 2023-10-03T01:27:00Z

A clean, very well done game. The concept is easy to pick up but hard to master-the perfect mix! I admittedly played through a couple of times (even though I was only able to achieve a 554, not my forte per say). Also, the audio of collecting the points is way too satisfying!

Bullet Spell by Glove 2023-10-03T12:58:50Z

@metagen @mdotedot Glad y'all had a pleasant time!

@kory @candlesan I glad y'all enjoyed the varied attacks! I made special effort to have variety in enemies (a past jam I did had a whole roguelike dungeon-crawler system set up, but only one enemy which admittedly was not ideal).

@airwaffle Great point, I added a blip about known errors. The reason why the hitbox does not line up is due to the way Unity handles button inputs (tying them to a graphic) not accounting for the lens warp post processing effect.

@lakea @krynxx In some regards I wish I made the game easier so it was more accessible to more people, but I'm glad y'all had fun regardless :)

@dovodx Admittedly I did intend for the sluggish movement because I thought it would look nice, but I should have remembered function over fancy (or any other equivalent idiom). Also the melee hitbox is not ideal I agree and now has a place in the known bugs category, thanks for the keen eye! Less important note, thank you for my first ever compliment in regards to music I've created! I have no idea anything music theory nor even what I am doing, but it seemed to work out :D

@a327ex Fair criticism about the audio, to be truthful I just kind of banked on people lowering their volume of their device as a sort of built in audio slider, but I really should have just added something to a title screen.

A Macabre Story of A Limited Head-Space by Chimney Eggs 2023-10-04T02:05:41Z

I'm not a big reader, but I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I did, however, seem to get stuck after a decent few discoveries (I really feel like I've tried everything), so I am not certain if that is the end or if I am at fault for not understanding the puzzle. Good writing, but it would never hurt to have some background audio to spice up the mood. Keep on doing great work :)

TetraPolis by PassbyKamenRider 2023-10-03T01:51:10Z

A really cool interweaving of game ideas (never would I have thought of Tetris town builder). Also, I enjoy the end screen with my score, even if it is not hooked up to anything it is a nice touch! A downside, however, is that due to the complexity of the rules being explained solely in the webpage, I couldn't tell if something not going how I intended was a bug or if I was doing something wrong (I am referring specifically to my inability to use the destroy tile option on any of my pieces in order to extinguish a fire). Regardless, good job!

Trapped Goblin by chusmimax 2023-10-03T01:03:28Z

Awesome submission my guy! I am a sucker for bullet hells (for self-gratifying reasons e.g. my game) and yours is really well done! The progression/rate at which difficulty scales is really clean: starting with a slow introduction as enemies are speckled here and there, then a (for me at least) surge in difficulty that is swiftly overcome with powerups that make you feel like a god (as the powerups are tied to the enemies themselves afterall). Really fun play, and a dazzling variety of enemies and attacks. Once again, great stuff!

Limited Grades by Triangle Point 2023-10-03T01:18:47Z

The whole intro sequence is equally awesome as it is hilarious! It's a shame that I kept experiencing a bug that made the boss throw out only a single attack at the start followed by a cps tester to make the healthbar go down. Still I greatly enjoyed every part of the game I got so see :)

Deadlinez by mickey-sanchez 2023-10-05T22:36:52Z

Some really cool ideas alongside a super chill vibe, great stuff! Not to beat a dead horse, but there are balancing issues that make the gameplay repetitive and whathaveyou. But I really enjoyed it nevertheless! (Also, how did you do the background?)

Shrinking Universe by Snorps 2023-10-03T21:58:18Z

The audio and art work really nicely together. Unfortunately, (and I do not know if this is a bug or intended) the speed at which the box and birds moved were too quick for any reasonable reaction time, resulting in every run ending in a matter of seconds either to birds sniping me or me being crushed against a wall shortly after spawning. But I like the idea and would love to play it properly (I tried to watch the youtube video but the embed isn't working). Good job regardless!
