found the game surprisingly difficult. It looks nice to be made in 48h and the sounds are OK for the game. I could not figure out how to drop the packages properly.

I think there's potential here, but the controls are quite fiddly for what the player needs to do. I was unable to deliver a single package :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Give this game tighter controls and a better camera and it will go places.

This is a really well tuned game. And even has a tutorial. Amazing work.

Love the big map. Don't see that often in LD games. The little tribes were also nice.

A nice thing would have been if the plane had some gliding mechanics. But this was very nice as well. Loved the calm song.

Nice game! Clear and little challenging controls. But I was annoying when I try landing the plane to the ground and it exploded. Despite this it's good work!

I got Pilotwings flashbacks from playing this and that's a good thing. I thought, "Oh this is a chill delivery game with me flying around and just being careful not to hit the ground." and then all of a sudden I'm dodging incoming fire! Cool idea!

The controls were good and I think it's difficult to fly with a keyboard but you pulled it off. The level looks great as well.

My one thing was it was pretty hard to drop packages off without coming to a full stop.

I never got the opportunity to play pilot wings but this reminds me of it and I like it! And I appreciate you taking the time to add a tutorial to the game and labeling the controls with what keyboard keys activate them. I found the turning the plane was difficult that may be due to my lack of experience with these types of games. Regardless nice work getting all this done for the COMPO!

Liked the plane movement and the title made me laugh. Way too hard for me, but that's my problem

Nice work for a 48 hour game! I like the audio and the controls are okay, but maybe needs some tuning to get right. The map is big which makes sense for a plane flying game and I like the big mountain "hiding" in the fog on the horizon.

A little suggesion is to make the bounding box for the delivery zone more clearly as there were moments when it looked like I dropped the package off right, but it wasn't registered.

Also as a personal preference I like when the keys are mapped on the keyboard in a way that resembles how the controls are used on screen. What I mean by that is that the throttle uses the keys C and V, while to me it makes more sense if the keys R or F were used for instance as they appear over and under each other on the keyboard, indicating the throttle going up or down. This is very nitpicky though, but thought I should mention it :) The keys are indicated in the UI at all times after all, which I think was a smart decision because it helps new players remember the controls and understand how they work.

Overall a great submission for a tight deadline!

Really great game and impressive scope especially for a compo entry!

I like how you made the world loop in all directions. When I play a game like this the first thing I usually do is to fly straight in one direction and see how long it takes me to reach the border. So I was pleasantly surprised that you actually loop instead of flying over and endless ocean.

I was also surprised how well those turrets predicted my flight. It felt like they even included my curvature and not just my linear velocity for predicting my position in the future at time of shooting. Super nice.

The controls are really good - maybe just a tiny bit too sensitive for me, since I often found myself overshooting and having to steer back when I tried to make sharp turns.

Sometimes I had difficulties to distinguish the red an yellow packages from afar (Probably because the middle part is orange for all packages). Maybe also coloring the balloons red, blue or yellow could be a nice visual aid.

I enjoyed the game a lot. Spent a good 5 minutes flying around and searching for that one village I missed, haha.

drazil100 2023-05-07 01:28

I enjoyed this but it was nearly impossible to control. It was a little too easy to overshoot a turn and it was nearly impossible to level out. An option to have it automatically try to level itself out either right side up or upside down would be nice. Nothing major but something that would make it easier to get back to a state of normal.

Good job! The plane controls feel very well made, even if I'm not used to flying a plane! My main issue comes in the form of not knowing when to drop a package in order to get it to land on a village; I wish there is an indicator of sorts that told you the trajectory of the box. Special shoutout for adding water particles that work when you dip a crate into a lake. Very niche touch but I stumbled across it in my play-through and thought it quaint :)

vidarn 2023-05-08 12:49

This was super cute! I loved flying the plane and listening to the tune  It was very difficult for me to get the packages and drop them at the right locations, but I think that's mostly up to me not being used to the control scheme. Don't get me wrong, it felt great to control the plane, I just wasn't very good at it

I loved the on-screen controls by the way!

hakro 2023-05-09 08:58

It's quite impressive that this was made in 48 hours ! the world is quite extensive and cute. Well done !

apiffer 2023-05-12 04:10

I've found it hard to control and deliver the packages properly, but visuals and sounds are nice. You did a lot for a compo entry, nice job!

ltyrosine 2023-05-15 21:28

Your gameplay is one of my exact ideas on the brainstorm start - but I ended overcomplicating thing using planets/orbits.

So I really liked this entry. Nice simple graphics, nice screen controls.

Controls are a bit too sensitive. It's not huge problem but I would like to feel more "aircraft" flight thing.

Overall, very nice little game. Congrats.

bradur 2023-05-18 19:25

Like in real life I find it impossible to navigate without modern technology. So I was lost constantly in this game. What I'm saying is that a minimap would be swell!

Great success on all other fronts though. There's a slight learning curve to the controls but I think they're quite good. Consistent simple graphics and UI. I think you made the sfx with your mouth. You should make the music in the same way!
