What are the controls?

passbykamenrider 2023-10-01 20:30

Haven't post the controls yet, probably will be up in 10 minutes

Interesting take on the theme and on tetris! Lots of rules and things to learn to jump in. Didn't fully understand it but got a couple games going decently. Nice job!

A really cool interweaving of game ideas (never would I have thought of Tetris town builder). Also, I enjoy the end screen with my score, even if it is not hooked up to anything it is a nice touch! A downside, however, is that due to the complexity of the rules being explained solely in the webpage, I couldn't tell if something not going how I intended was a bug or if I was doing something wrong (I am referring specifically to my inability to use the destroy tile option on any of my pieces in order to extinguish a fire). Regardless, good job!

This is a really neat idea! Combining a resource management game with something like tetris has so much potential. My biggest problem with this game, however, is that I could not for the life of me figure out how to destroy blocks. Like, something would be on fire or be diseased, and I couldn't get rid of it. Still though, having each piece be a different type of building that I have to allocate people to is an awesome idea. Great Job!

A weird but definitely interesting mutation for tetris. I like the idea, but it is kind of hard to pay attention to that many things while playing tetris

zealous-coder 2023-10-03 02:05

Hey not bad, I liked the idea. Though I was not really sure why I ended up loosing a bunch of times, wish I could have seen the reason.

passbykamenrider 2023-10-03 02:08

Hi @zealous-coder, thank you for your feedback! It might be that your food supply reaches -500, I didn't have the time to add visuals for that so it's really a bit confusing. I'll add that to the details page on itch.io!

passbykamenrider 2023-10-03 02:10

Hi @glove and @seam00se, thank you for your feedbacks! Sorry for the misconception because I don't have time to make the visuals. Destorying blocks takes 200 gold each time, I've added that in the description page.

Last moment before my entire colony turned to ashes:

This game is pretty fun. A tetris combined with resource management/colony building is a unique concept and quite enjoyable. I found that the autofill tends to split workers evenly between mining and farming which lots of times makes you immediately lose due to low food, so I had to manually appoint lots of farmers, and then when I have a big food supply I toggle the autofill and it works well.

Very cool and fun stuff overall. Good job!

Great take on the theme! Super fun.

- Definetly an interesting and unique idea. - It felt quite difficult, as someone who doesn't play tetris that part was taking most of my attention, while I tried to figure out the rest of the screen and then I died. It might be a nice challenge for tetris players who could instinctively position the blocks and concentrate on the other tasks.

rumiaobsessed 2023-10-05 04:13

I was very confused on what was happening. The core mechanics are unintuitive. I like the clash of genres though!

ryrumeli 2023-10-05 06:08

This is my definition of "I would have never ever thought I would see that". An iteration on a timeless classic like tetris is always challenging, and it is a genre I never expected to mesh with it. The idea is very very creative needless to say, it felt a bit hard to balance the resources and the pieces at the same time. At first it felt overwhelming but as soon as I got wind of things suddenly it became fun, actually going through the instructions helped a lot.

ttkayttis 2023-10-05 15:05

Interesting smash of genres, i kinda felt it was not clear to me how the match though. It felt like trying to do to separate things at same time and was hard to understand. I really liked the concept so I really tried to understand it but still left wondering why i lost or why is something happening. I think with some more effects/sound ques to tell whats happening it would make a great game. I liked to soundtrack!

woona 2023-10-05 17:01

Mind blowing! This is like five dimensional Tetris where everything is on fire. 😁 I didn't really follow what was happening on the screen, just tried playing a normal tetris game clicking on +food occasionally. It was fun while it lasted.

I think it's difficult to combine a game requiring you to focus really hard like tetris and a thoughtful resource management game. Good job doing it!

This was too much for me to get my head around! :D But I really appreciate the design and effort here. Great entry! top marks for innovation

mmayans 2023-10-05 22:44

interesting genre mash, i am confused about the goal

stmate03 2023-10-06 11:48

Interesting take on tetris, I got to 20k points with no idea what I'm actually doing, the hitboxes for the hammer is a bit finnicky, I managed to bug my cursor into a hammer once, and sometimes the game paused with the hammer sometimes it didn't (idk I wasn't paying full attention), it was hectic but overall an interesting game! good job!

kanagg 2023-10-07 11:22

Very interesting! A little interactive introduction to ease people in would be really helpful because there is a lot going on :D. I managed to get a good run going on my 4th try :) I'm missing some sound effects when something good or bad happens to draw attention. Very impressive for a compo entry, good job 👍

My high score: 14k.

Really interesting idea! It feels like the start of something really unique, but didn't quite gel for me - I like the idea of trying to balance what buildings are in my play field, but at some point I ended up just playing Tetris and ignoring the rest. I'm actually not quite sure how I lost (play field was no where near full, was it just a timer somewhere?). If things were a little more strategic, this could be perhaps more interesting - maybe would be interesting to simply *not* clear lines like Tetris, just use those mechanics to fill up your city, and the money/food play in to how you clear space / just deal with events. Very nice entry though, I had fun playing it.
