Scrambled my way all the way up to 7th!! But that's where I fall. Super fun little game, the leaderboard makes it 10x better. great execution, good entry :)

This has the same vibe as those more meta horror games on Itch! That'd be a fun direction to take it if you keep developing :)
As is, it kind of lacks for gameplay. While I do like the vibe, it doesn't offer much challenge or incentive to play. I ended up stopping on Day 200 after it reset on me for the second time while I was mere feet from the cash register! So close
Super classic art style that reminds me of the old browser games on websites like addicting games, I like it a ton.
It took me an EMBARASSINGLY long amount of time to understand what was going on and that I was building a blanket fort, but I really really like the concept. The mother AI/Spawning felt a little unfair and would sometimes spawn on me or directly next to me.
I also wish there was a way to sell or remove pieces so I could make up for past mistakes.
That's just feedback though, I seriously love this game and am probably gonna spend a good half hour on it after finishing this comment. Please finish it after the jam! It would do so well on a website like armorgames
SOO Good! Great art, mood, feel, and idea :) I loved it My only complaints is that some wishes were hard to distinguish their type, and it was also difficult to keep track of where demons were. Great entry!!
Simple, and complete. I love it! I've noticed a lot of jam games get bogged down by complexity, so having such a simple quick to pick up shooter was GREAT!
I think it'd benefit from having more room to move around, but overall it was a joy. I especially enjoyed the grapple hand mechanic and its versatility, I feel it has a lot of potential
Got this error: ############################################################################################ ERROR in action number 1 of Step Event0 for object oPlayer:
Unable to find instance for object index -4 at gml_Script_inventoryDnD ############################################################################################ gml_Script_inventoryDnD (line -1) gml_Object_oPlayer_Step_0
When I had a pick and tried picking up an axe!
Very cute game with a good art style though, so much potential in this bad boy!!! You should so develop it into a full game after the jam :)
I was such a slepypy bear :)
The character was SUPER fluid and made it fun to dodge around! I especially liked how the tail responded (or felt like it responded) to movement.
I think you went a little overboard on obstacles like cacti though, and they often messed up my "tactical Weaving"
But perfectly squeezing between some rocks to escape other dinosaurs was my favorite part of the gameplay loop
good entry :)
I LOVED the art style it was SO pretty, easy 5 star in graphics!! The mood as well was superb, and I loved your take on the theme. It was very nicely wrapped package, but I was a little disappointed by the minigames. They were super minimalistic and not very fun, I would've loved if they played more into the dying screen part of the game.
Really solid entry though, absolutely beautiful too
Lovely game, honestly I found it pretty relaxing! It was definitely a little buggy though, and some of the item collision shapes felt a little clunky. Two items broke and I couldn't fix them, and then the game ended kind of suddenly a while after?
Still a blast being able to play one of your LD entries for the first time! I always love your post-mortems :)
Good entry
Super super polished game! The gameplay was a little simple, essentially just walking from point to point in a room, but it still kept me entertained for a good while due to how polished and nice it felt to play.
Fun little horror arcade game :) good entry
One of the best of the jam for sure! And criminally underrated! Really shows what a team of 5 can get up to over 72 hours :) Super charming and fun, but my music and all sound effects suddenly cut out permanently half way through - Mopi
I didn't actually play the game but it was very pleasant to look at from across the room, I love how the little duck bodies bounce. 5/5 sparks joy - MPGF (Mopi girlfriend)
Super interesting game, you had a lot of systems that have a ton of potential! I feel you don't allow the player to use and explore them though to their fullest potential.
The short time leaves no room for experimenting, and the lack of material meant I was pretty much down to boards by day 2. I think with longer time windows and more objects available for the player to use, this game will be a TON of fun!!
I would love to tactically make a route of traps, furniture, etc instead of just rushing to place every furniture item in the house in front of the door as fast as possible.
Did the creatures die :( I think I only saved the frog.. It's okay, the owl was a stuckup anyways.
Charming little puzzle game, good entry :)
I really like this game :)
The kunais felt chunky, and powerful. They were super fun to use, especially tactically. I loved when they would bounce off the walls and then stick to any enemy, and then the enemy would send it flying back at me when it exploded! Made it super fun.
The character felt great to use, the animation looked beautiful, and it was super responsive. I really would've liked for the character to be used more, as opposed to just running back and forth for kunai. Some platforms, or occasional obstacles to dodge, would've really spiced up the movement.
This game has a TON of potential and I would love to see it developed further!!
Great entry all around
This was super super super confusing at first, I think I spent 2 or 3 minutes just trying to figure out which arrow happened when I pressed green.
But once I got it, I was impressed by the super unique puzzle system! I've never seen anything like it before, and with 25 levels to boot I was shocked you had managed to create so much content in the time limit. Great job!!
An issue I found with the puzzles though is that theres no way to fail them really, you can just press orange as much as possible. I think a "maximum move" number that you need to get under would really improve the puzzle solving aspect.
Good job on the art and puzzle design, overall a devent concept and prototype :)
#### Short Review:
I really like the minimalist 3D art style, I don't know what it is but flat 3D coloring will always have a place in my heart. The demons were adorable, and the overall vibe was good
Good entry :)
#### My EXHAUSTIVE Critique (optional): I saw your community post asking for feedback! Sooo, just in case, I figured I would offer an exhaustive critique in case you wanted a lot of feed back. (All purely my own opinion, feel free to skip if you don't care for an exhaustive critique haha)
##### Gameplay: The gameplay was a little shallow, and I feel it was just missing one mechanic. I liked the changing terrain, it was a super cool effect, but it didn't change gameplay itself that much. By the end, I was just walking in circles holding down left click while a hoard of 30 or so demons followed me around. Some sort of extra movement option would've added a lot of value to the player character, and made the process of whittling down that massive health bar a little more fun
##### Difficulty: I like the intentionality of the healthbar, and how the last little bit takes FOREVER to whittle away at. One thing that wasn't fun though, and was purely frustrating, was the falling architecture. Thematically it made sense, but it was almost impossible to predict it. So, more often than not, I would suddenly get one shot by falling architecture when I was THIIIS close to winning. This is incredibly frustrating when the boss fight is 5+ minutes of just holding down left click. On top of that, the enemies were super weaksauce. Despite nearly the entirely platform being filled with demons, I stopped killing them and just walked in circles since they didn't really hurt me.
##### Game Feel: This is one part of the game that you can easily improve, and it would add a ton to the game itself! There's a lack of player feedback, so it's not always obvious what's going on. Theres no reaction from enemies when I shoot them, so it doesn't feel like they take damage. Theres also no indicator for when I, the player, take damage which makes it harder to keep tracker of health (and makes dying feel more unfair). Adding simple sound effects, flashes, short animations, etc. would all rapidly improve how it feels to play the game and, as a result, the overall experience
##### The Boss: The boss felt super duper passive. I liked his design, and especially the addition of snide remarks, but it kind of felt like he was just watching me shoot him in the eye. If the boss had more interactivity (shoots lasers, or slams his hand down on you, etc) it could bolster my want to kill him.
##### Conclusion: You made a really decent game, especially for a game jam, and you should be proud of that :) If you want to continue working on this game and developing it, there's plenty of directions you can go and tons of small tweaks that would improve it exponentially. Good luck and best of wishes <3
Cute little game, I liked it :) polished and smooth
It may have been out of scope, but I think your little creature evolving or getting larger would've added a lot and given a sense of progress (Maybe that happens when your bar fills but I didn't get that far)
Adding Crabiroth to my hardest video game bosses of all time list
Smooth, simple, effective. Good entry :)
My turn speed was super high though, this could've been intentional for difficulty, but I just wanted to mention it as it's a common bug for godot games on high fps computers if you don't use delta in your physics!
I super duper love the "You did better than X% of players", what an ingenious way to get people to keep playing :)
That being said, it was super hard, and I was not better than that many players 😔
Love love LOVED the visual style and mood! The jumping was insanely powerful though and difficult to control, so after a minute of trying I couldn't really land on anything. Perhaps a frame rate issue? I know super fast speeds are a common bug in godot, dunno about unreal :)
Super good concept, it seems all the systems are in place, but it just lacks some balancing. The build times felt insanely long. I always wanted to build elaborate setups, but it took so long that I ended up dying immediately :( I recognize I probably should've used more spikes as opposed to setting up a money making compound turn one though, haha
great entry :)
@mopifish OH!! THATS what the drones are! I thought they were like gunner drones haha
Suuper solid entry! Love that it was quick and easy to pick up, always love a game I can understand from the get go! Solid concept, lot of content, good art, and a decent amount of fun :)
It got a little boring after around 2 runs, but that's still a solid 12-15 minutes of gameplay, which is really decent for a jam game!
Cute game, very polished! Game play wise I had a ton of difficulty actually finding the zombie to reap (I think I found one out of 3 play throughs), and the other reapers typically did nothing. At one point a reaper even held a zombie in place so I could kill it haha
Conceptually? FANTASTIC adorable idea, so silly, I love it. The gameplay itself was a little repetive and bland, but still, I think this has a lot of potential as an idea
Loved the visuals, super fluid. Also appreciated the extra jumps, SUPER saved me in the beginning when I was still learning :)
LOVED The concept and interpretation of the theme! It was so interesting and such a great take! I really enjoyed the risk of rain style difficulty meter too.
It may have just been me, but I felt the auto-spinning made the game too automatic. If i had full control over the direction I shoot (or maybe I shoot in the direction im moving/vice versa) I think it would make gameplay a lot more interesting as I have to intentionally shoot the walls and strategize!
but thats just a thought, really good entry :)
This has a lot of depth for a jam entry, I'm seriously impressed by how much you managed to get done!
When I first started playing it was pretty overwhelming, I had no clue what half the numbers did and even by the end (when I felt I understood it pretty well) I had no clue what half the numbers were. I think cutting out and streamlining the info fed to the player would help a ton.
Also, more feedback for the player would be great.Whether it be information on incoming enemy waves, or that Sometimes I would do something wrong (or something would die), and I wouldn't know what happened until I guessed it out.
That aside, I had a ton of fun moving around my human units and strategizing the best locations to put them around the map. Good job, I hope you continue and finish this game :)
What CRAZY graphics, I love them. It sets a mood first and foremost and I'm all for it
The game really throws you in from the start, and I think it would super benefit from an empty section of hallway at the beginning where the player can get a grasp of their controls and the surrounding. A lot of the obstacles also felt like they had bad hitboxes, or that I could avoid them but for some reason they killed me.
Good entry :) With a few tweaks this could be a super trippy endless runner
Cute art :) The little guys had an issue of not always doing what I told them though
This is the hardest jam game I've played so far, but it's okay. I was prepared, I was emotionally ready, and I was INVESTED! At first I could get no farther than 7 meters, but once I remembered I could walk slowly (very smart, me) It got way easier. As of 8:25 pm, my farthest is the 38 m mark. I am going to beat this game. I will update my progress as I go
8:30 pm, 58 meters....... you are a cruel, cruel person.....
Aka I give up here for now :) Super good game, I love the visuals, the voice acting is STUPENDOUS, it only get bogged down by its length due to repetitiveness, but... that's kind of a feature of the genre.
FANTASTIC job, immediately going on my best-of-jam list
Very very pretty! Simple and fun concept, perfect for a jam game :) Super easy to expand upon too if you continue working on it after the jam
Super good game, very polished, funny and unique take :) Gameplay was fun despite simplicity, very very solid entry!
I think there's an error with the web build, it never loaded and showed a red box at the top of the screen. If it was an error, I couldn't read it since it was cut off
Will update after playing the downloadable :)
Update: I loved the visual style and metroidvania mechanic! Fun concept. My only complaint is that the weapon was difficult to use and hard to predict, which made combat feel clunky
Yay! I haven't seen a puzzle platformer yet, I was looking forward to one! I enjoy the teleportation mechanic, but the puzzle design didn't quite use it to it's fullest potential. Good entry overall though, and would be interesting to see this developed further :)
I love the tutorial art! Climbing my tower was a bit difficult and annoying, but I liked the challenge of collecting objects and cobbling together to create my own little tower of babel. I think a better item throwing system where I could aim would make this a ton more fun!
Good execution! Very polished idea with nice art. The enemy spawn rate ramped WAY up, which made it super hard in the beginning when you have 0 upgrades. I also didn't like the camera system at all, it felt super disorientating, but that may have been a personal issue.
Just nitpicks though, those are the only two issues I had. Good game all around :)
Nifty game!!! At first I thought it was too complex and hard to parse, but I gave it a second shot and managed to understand it.
From there it was pretty fun, but it petered out pretty quickly. Capture.PNG
I got about this far before stopping as at that point I had essentially won (Had enough infrastructure I could build whatever I wanted whenver)
This is a SUPER solid prototype and base for a game, but it lacks depth. As a jam game though, it definitely kept me busy for a little while :)
Great entry, I hope you continue developing after the jam
At first I was overwhelmed, but I found that it was actually surprisingly intuitive gameplay! It looked really good too, and the systems worked well.
However, throughout my playthrough most events had 0 effect. I immediately jacked the taxes up to 1000 just to see what would happen, and suffered non stoup coups (of course) but, most of the coups did nothing at all. I ended up selling all the police stations I had bought and ended my totalitarian state, and found I could essentially do whatever with no punishment.
Bug or bad luck?
Easily one of the games I've ever played. This game has such an intense aura and vibe to it, I thoroughly enjoyed raising my little guy named Brian and make him going to work in this economy.
I love the visuals, great mood :)
The art is SOOO Cool! I just wish it translated better to the gameplay as opposed to just cutscenes and stuff :) Great concept, good job and great entry!
Graphics are SUUUper good! Also very smooth flowy combat. Clear condition wasnt always clear and I didn't notice it up there till nearly the last room.
I think you focused too much on evasion, even though your combat system was so fun!!! Add some more content and this would be A+ :)
Adorable game, great take on the theme! Good visuals as well, and the character controller was great. My one complaint is that the flowers felt impossible to get past without dying, but maybe I'm just not skilled enough :)
Great entry
Easily one of the weirdest jam Games I've played so far, fantastic! The controls were SUPER weird at first, but I got a handle on them after a couple of minutes. I absolutely loved the big red ball, and the sound design on it. I couldn't really figure a way to get past the golden door though, was that the entire game?
I've been trying to stick with web games, but this one looked so silly I just had to give it a try. I love the caterpillar animation and sly humor, but the camera controls made it really difficult to navigate.
Good entry overall :)
Good game! I Liked the idea, and the art was cute and simple. Felt cozy and roomy. Feedback: There was a bit of a wait between packages, which really slowed down the gameplay. As well, the big packages you couldn't really see the full name making it pretty unfair.
Overall good entry though :)
I love that we had super similar concepts but in the opposite direction!! Overall a horrible experience, I loved it, and will now never ever buy a houseplant
Great entry :)
Sweet game! I really liked the mood and graphics, big fan of the art style. The story fit well with the theme and made my mission feel important, I really liked that too :)
The gameplay was SUPER fast though, which made it nearly impossible to hit enemies or avoid shots. I'm not sure if this was intentional, or if the game was simply running faster due to my high FPS?
Overall, this is one of my favorite entries for mood so far
I love it!! I romanced that beautiful wizard so fast I love the character design and art, SOOO well done! One of my top games so far. Good job :)
The dodging felt clunky, but the game is just oozing with charm and care that I barely even noticed
Good idea and nifty little arcade shooter, it has a lot going for it! I Think the only think holding it back is the car movement, it doesn't feel that great. With an improved car character controller, this could easily be a fun little mobile game I can see myself playing!
Good entry!
I made it 111 seconds! This is a fun concept and it definitely kept me busy :)
Super solid foundation, I think it could be improved by having all the simon says steps displayed at once and having countdowns on certain tasks so you have to complete them every so often. As is, I felt I could just ignore certain tasks. And how simon says worked, I had to devote full attention on it as opposed to bouncing back and forth.
Those are super minor though, really good entry
I appreciate we were both inspired by the popopopop-ness of pop cat :) Cute little game, I like the art and simple concept, though the stamina felt a little forced. It felt like I was supposed to go out of my way to knock over objects, but knocking over objects punished me at the same time
Cool game!! Decent prototype that you can do a lot with too! I didn't really understand the point of the warp drive and the mothership till after. I thought the warp drive simply teleported you around on the same map (it looked the same, so I thought I was on the same planet), and I also thought the mothership was a boss who I was waiting for, not vice versa haha. Decent jam entry though, you did a good job and I like it :)
Super adorable and cute, loved the art and all the kitties.
The cats broke out of their little trap so fast though! It made gameplay a little repetitive
Good entry :)
The character design for the jelly was very cute, and I think you chose a very cute shade of pink. That said, I feel like the rest of the game has an incohesive color palette, and could be improved some. The music was also nice. - MPGF (mopi Girlfriend)
The poor little jelly guy died so fast, I didnt get to experience much! A little more leeway in that regard would've been great :) I enjoyed the handmade art, and would love to see more in the future. Good entry! - mopi
What a game, EASILY the longest jam game I've ever played! I got stuck after entering the time space continuum (which is a really odd thing to say about a giraffe game) But the graphics and NES platformer style was great!
Good entry :)
The background was very nice I would have it as like a little pretty screensaver :D I feel like there could be more sound, but what was there was cute. The controls were too many though and also we couldn't figure out what some of them did. - MPGF (Mopi Girflfriend)
The gameplay was a little bland, but I think it has potential. The waves were super precise, which presents challenge, but the slow and clunky turning system prevented precision. Overall, good entry! it could just use some small adjustments to controls and readability in order to be a decently fun game :) - Mopi
Cheeky little platformer, I didn't have any issues with jumping after I got used to it though I admit it was a little tricky at times. I didn't really see how the time dilation fit into the game? Maybe it had to do with the faster youre going the slower time is? But a lot of levels involved you stopping and changing directions, so it didn't really work that way
good entry :)
Welcome to Ludum Dare!! It's my first jam too, and I really like that you're getting started and submitting entries :D
I really like the visual style of the game, something about the simple flat 3D style just really works. I don't think i found the secret, though I really did try! I also really enjoyed the way the walls fell apart as the world ended, kind of felt like Outer Wilds in a way.
If I had to have a complaint, its that the camera was constantly rotating to the right and made me kind of dizzy haha.
Good entry :)
I love wario ware type games during jams!! Super solid entry! Loved the art style and overall humor
Simple and cute concept, good job you guys! I agree with your comment that specific tools would've made it super interesting, and the good news is they're super simple to add! I don't use unity, but if you ever want some ideas on how to add them feel free to ask c:
Good first entry, I'd love to see you guys work on this game after the jam!
I ended up enjoying this game a LOT more than I thought I would! First off, I love the idea of a voting system based puzzle game. It's silly, but super interesting, and with the art style reminds me of all those blob videos you'll see on youtube about voting system.
I actually got stuck on a puzzle for a good 5 minutes, but that aha moment I had when I realized it was better to be ranked second by all, and first by a few, than first by a lot, and second by a few. (bad explanation but whatever. Still! The fact I stuck around even after getting stuck shows you made a good game :) )
My only complaint is the dialogue system! The dialogue is both helpful and funny, but the text speed is suuuper slow. I can't click to make it finish either, as clicking just skips the important dialogue.
Overall, great jam entry, and good concept
There isn't much here in the way of game play, but despite that fact I spent a good 5-10 minutes running around, feeding my grub, and keeping warm. I think I stayed hooked so long because I simply LOVE the concept and idea of it! I had a ton of fun just exploring the concept, and I think this is a really good prototype. You should really flesh it out into a full game after the jam :D!
Yep! Ditto to augustcoder
I always love a hand drawn game, so props for the art! The concept and theme interpretation was SUPER cool, I really enjoyed it, but you didn't let the player use it to its fullest extent!
The mage part of the game was super hard, and whenever you die as a mage it completely ends the game. That sucks! It locks one of the funnest aspects, the cards, behind the difficult mage combat. Being able to respawn after death would instantly add enhance the gameplay. Instead, try having the game end whenever you run out of excuses to play.
Phenomenal concept though, I'm excited to see where you take this in the future
NOOO NOT THE MLP JAR!!
What a silly game, I liked it a lot!! The platforming was a little clunky, but it was still really enjoyable. I ended up getting stuck at the blocks right after ... the jar ...
for some reason those blocks wouldn't move
I too am just a little catboy who likes to wear hair clips... Good game <3 I ended up getting stuck in this room though:Capture.PNG
I couldn't see myself on the screen, and after button mashing for a while I ended up accidentally talking to a parking garage robot!
Overall love the trans color palette and themes :)
This game is just... fascinating to me. In a good way!! A lot of Ludum Dare games have shot for complex systems where I have no idea what's going on, you went for a similarly complex system, but I wasn't really confused. I was moreso baffled, if that makes sense? It wasn't the gameplay that confused me, but it felt like looking at a painting in a museum and trying to understand the artists intent and everything it means.
Which is probably reading way too much into your jam game :)
It had a lot of charm though, and is easily one of the most memorable games I've played yet.
Issues: I would always receive a strike after the red guys came and before the boss man? Is this intentional, or was it bad play?
@zack-hd You're 100% right, and you really got across that artistic intent and emotional appeal. It really reflected in the game, and nailed that near feverish feel
@alphish Just realized I hid the buttons for a screenshot, and forgot to unhide them before exporting for desktop.. facepalm
But thanks for the kind words :) overall I like the chaos though, the goal was to capture that feeling of being overwhelmed I always get when playing papas pizzeria haha
@levi thank you for the kind words :) I was little scared the dialogue was gonna fall flat so I'm glad to hear at least one person enjoyed it
Also, PLEASE use the popcat noises! Every time I redid my own tutorial it made me bust out laughing
@zack-hd Thank you so much! Maybe I will have to expand on it after the Jam ends, it was a ton of fun to make :)
P.s. - There are difficulty options (including an easy mode) but they're hidden away in the settings! I definitely should've put them after you hit "start" though...
@firesplash-entertainment I've seen a couple issues where the tutorial freezes around the sapling/tree part. I still can't find out whats causing it 😞 I'm glad it's skippable though and not game breaking!!
@haastregt @omgitsleana you guys are insane!!
First, Haastregt, I was about to say you're insane as you've beaten my PB at sicko mode :) but then omgitsleana dropped the 300+ days!! Thats crazy!! My PB is only 170 haha
But the game does start at an easy difficulty and ramps up. The different difficulty options just controls where the game starts and where it caps out
Normal mode starts at a difficulty (speed) of 1, and caps out at 3. Sicko mode starts at 3, and caps out at 5!
Thank you both for playing so seriously I appreciate it!
Nice entry! I like to see similar ideas executed in different and interesting ways, good job :)
I beat it! Wasn't too hard, but some levels like the cars were kind of annoying. I dislike the logs at first, but kind of started to enjoy the platforming by the end! The black and white platform level was probably the best and most creative, and I wish there were more like it
