This game is SMOOTH and full of style. I love how chill the music and the start is -- but once you get hit once, the pressure's on! And it ramps up really well. Great work!

Hey I did almost the same thing, only I had many small cannons and one big meteor. I felt so op here compared to my version

mopifish 2022-04-06 02:26

Smooth, simple, effective. Good entry :)

My turn speed was super high though, this could've been intentional for difficulty, but I just wanted to mention it as it's a common bug for godot games on high fps computers if you don't use delta in your physics!

sprngr 2022-04-06 02:31

@mopifish Thanks for pointing that out! I'll look into getting that patched.

Fun game! I love the polish. The music and audio is also great, I particularly like how it gets more intense once you're hit. I did feel the difficulty scaling was weird. For the first 120 seconds it was too easy and then it was really difficult for a bit and then really easy for a few minutes more. I was having a bunch of fun when it was difficult!

Nice litle game. I wish there were some more variation in the asteroid explosion sound. Even a randomized pitch change could do wonders. But I liked the speaker pan of the sound depending on where the explosion is

I thought it was a bit too easy in the beginning... like you could just spam ammo into the sky and keep turning the cannon around. It would fire lots and lots of bullets EVERYWHERE and reduce any real danger. Played like this for quite a while and even when meteors would become more that 'tactic' kinda did the job, with the need to eventually actually aim at some. When I grew a bit bored of that I wanted to find out what would happen if you get hit and that's when the actual game began. Maybe a short but effective cooldown for shooting would help? Other than that it was really smooth, looked great and had nice audio :) All in all a nice submission, good job!

simple charming game, I like the graphics a lot actually. you could spam both the mouse and space to essentially do double fire, was it a bug? idk. also sometimes when using the space as fire button, the cannon drifts. but yeah, great game!

Nice graphic design for the game, very clean. The turret rotation speed was too fast for my liking; I had trouble getting the precision I wanted. All in all, nice execution.

Really nice mood, I let myself get hit to see what would happen and the music changing pace + changing colours were awesome. I just wish the game got harder faster, I enjoyed my playthrough though, got something like 600 or so!

Meteor Storm is cool hypercasual game, I enjoyed it gets better everytime. The graphics are really cool, I dont know if you did everything but if you did, congratulations because the assets are completeley amazing and connected.

I wish the sound of the explosion was a little lower, but that's my thing, but it's looks really good.

The HUD it's simple but perfectly done, so it's a 10/10, congratulations for the game :D

@gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida Thank you for the kind comments :) Everything in this was designed by me, and I will take the audio levels into consideration for a post-ludum dare update.

my best strategy for this was desperately hit up + right until I get to the far right, then lef + up until I got to the far left and keep doing this to create an umbrella of protection of sorts  for I believe meteors can be destroyed far before they are visible so that strategy was useful

sprngr 2022-04-08 14:44

@velvetlobster This is true, I intentionally allowed for meteors to be destroyed off screen akin to other shmups

kukurammus 2022-04-08 19:00

I would add some kind of restriction on how many projectiles you can shoot per some time frame. Like overheating cannon or something like this. Because currently it is possible to shoot by mashing a button, while swinging cannon. It is making a little bit less challenging. Graphics and sound design are nice though

effe 2022-04-08 19:04

ok, im addicted! nice game, great soundeffects and you just want to click the fire button and destroy the meteors. i love it!

ps: i just missed a rank score. :(

@kukurammus Thank you for the feedback, that is a mechanic I was tinkering with but had to cut - I am planning on getting it into a post-jam release.

flipflop77 2022-04-09 12:43

Ha! nicely done, i love the visual, the audio works well together and it took me a while to work out A and D could be used, the mouse was too hard by itself haha.

don-fouts 2022-04-11 00:18

Classic game setup and it's incredibly well made. I could see this deployed to mobile as a full game. I really liked the graphics, though the main song got a little annoying with the "wa wa wa" after a few minutes. Overall though this is a solid entry, awesome work!

rolferm 2022-04-14 21:01

It's really, really well made, but it's kinda unoriginal. Also, the biggest challenge is the controls and not so much the game itself.

gullyngames 2022-04-16 02:02

Very polished game! The graphics and audio work really nicely. One suggestion that I have is potentially adding a cooldown timer for the cannon, and the cooldown time could be lowered by shooting down powerups -- it seemed like I could shoot 10+ bullets a second using both the space bar and mouse. Overall really well done!

sprngr 2022-04-17 18:19

@gullyngames Thank you for the feedback, I do have a post-jam build in the works with a cooldown system in place for the cannon as well as a fix for the multi-input bug. I'm going to think a bit more about introducing a power up system though as that could be an additional bit of fun.
