LD42 — Running out of space

Running Out Of Space by CaylebLucas 2018-08-15T17:08:22Z

Love mini games. The bounce game was the most difficult to immediately understand since it's control scheme differed, but it was simple once I understood it. The thrusters game definitely proved the hardest. Would love some silly sounds and background music here, but overall it's well done!

Firewood Manor by Michael Feldman 2018-08-15T04:02:53Z

Can't believe I made it out! Simple but well executed concept. Good mood setting! I think it'd be better if it was full-screen in browser by default. Nice work!

Quibble Quarrel by TJ101010 2018-08-15T04:06:54Z

This is awesome. The assets are great. It's fun, humorous, and simple to play -- and the controls are presented so clearly that you'd have to be trying to miss them on purpose. I achieved my victories even as I was falling because the computer was knocked off first. Hilarious. Well done!

No Escape by JSD 2018-08-15T17:03:31Z

Really fun! I like the sounds and character choice. I enjoyed having to dance around baton-wielding cops while trying to shoot those in the back. Managed to get 3600 before being taken out by a single stray bullet from my right blind-spot (covered by a pillar). Great game!

Underground Trip by ALKubo 2018-08-15T00:35:31Z

My favorite thing had to be the sounds skeletons made when they died. Hilarious. Movement seems a bit slow but fine once you adapt. The buttons definitely add more fun to the game then simply running around. Hit feedback is hard to gauge and it would be great to have a score (either time-based or skeletons slain based). Great assets as well. Nice work.

Inventory Quest by acfaruk 2018-08-15T17:13:14Z

Was hoping I'd find a game with this concept! Liked your art and sounds. I think the unsealing mechanic is refreshing, since it adds another level of depth. Nice work!

Crumble by anstabo 2018-08-15T00:43:44Z

This game is solid and solidly funny. Started panicking once I heard the cannons! The graphics, feel, and sounds are great. Impressive amount of polish, for sure. This would be even more entertaining with a wide variety of levels.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Flock of Salvation by Juutis 2018-12-05T17:50:28Z

This game is much harder than I thought! I felt challenged having to bob and weave through flocks of crows while I was trying to pick up their dead brethren and deliver them to the gods. Really like the premise, use of the theme, and aesthetics here. A suggestion for building on this would be to add a clearer indicator for your mojo loss per hit and god appeasement per sacrifice (or more emphasis on the animation as the values change), and keeping a tally on how many birds you manage to sacrifice before the end.

Good job with this!

Colossus by PlagueOfMinds 2018-12-06T01:20:21Z

If this is your group's first foray into Unity, I have to say I'm impressed! Even if the game is not on-theme, it has a lot that's generally hard to accomplish when you're working on your first game (exactly as @fre points out). You should all still be proud! The control scheme felt a bit strange using shift to attack, but it was otherwise easy to play (though harder to win).

LD45 — Start with nothing

Invasion by gwinnell 2019-10-09T16:23:19Z

This was really well done! The feel of the game is great, the controls and mechanics are easy to grasp, and the back and forth between the invasive seeds and nature keeps you thinking on your toes. At level five, as you sprout in all directions to combat four different fronts, it can sometimes be hard to see all of the attacking bugs. That aside, I had a blast playing this game. Great use of theme, too!

The Ghost Haunter by Gnappuraz 2019-10-13T15:31:15Z

Love the art style! If only there was more time -- I would've really enjoyed playing more. The concept is really cool as well.

Cult Carnage by RustyMonky 2019-10-09T17:59:32Z

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone.

@Eymrich, that's a shame -- hasn't happened to me, but I'll try to reproduce. Thanks for playing.

@benjo-games yeah, that was something I chose not to fix during LD crunch time, but it's definitely on the docket for post-LD patches.

@quin Sorry to hear that -- I've heard that happening for a very small amount of folks, and to be honest, I'm not sure why that is happening. I'll be adding a windows and mac build soon to let people who run into that issue still play.

@ludumanthony and @steffo -- yeah, I had more enemies planned, such as a kamikaze charging bat, but couldn't get that in with the time I had. Also, that's a damn nice score, LudumAnthony! Well done!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Like Rabbits by ruthiepee 2022-04-09T13:27:39Z

Simple to play, but hard to play well. I love the sprites and music. I think some added sounds or animations based on user interactions (like the click/drag), sound outlines for overlapping rabbits, and improving the resolution of the text in the UI would be great next steps. Excellent idea for the theme, as well. Nice work!

Electro Rush by Giardi 2022-04-07T02:16:04Z

Got passed camera sensitivity issues with the options menu provided (even having that in a jam game is a pleasant surprise). Love the character model and feel of jumping around -- and I appreciate that you can hang onto the edges!

Meteor Storm by sprngr 2022-04-05T21:23:28Z

This game is SMOOTH and full of style. I love how chill the music and the start is -- but once you get hit once, the pressure's on! And it ramps up really well. Great work!

Grieventide by Abdonatioera 2022-04-08T00:53:00Z

Love the sprites and mood of this game. The sword swings feel good, and the animation is clean. Fighting the boss was fun -- definitely was surprised when I returned to the center and saw it there. Nice work!

A Last Stand by RustyMonky 2022-04-08T13:00:05Z

Sorry about that, @ditam! For those of you looking to play and reading the comments, you can press "G" on your keyboard, or the "Open Gate" button in the UI, to toggle the gate's open and closed state. Hope that improves your experience!

Beavers Inc. by ditam 2022-04-08T17:10:45Z

Love the arcade style and premise. The game is fun and easy to dive into. It wasn't immediately intuitive in the tutorial that I had to go get wood until after it flooded a portion of the map and told me, but after that, the rest of the game's mechanics were smooth sailing. Love the dialogue, too. Great game!

Word Wizard by Slecornu 2022-04-09T14:30:18Z

The art is fantastic, and I love how the music ramps up. Excellent sound effects, too. Only thing I ran into that confused me was target selection, but once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed beating back the minions and spamming my keys to combo through them. Wonderful game!

DOWN the DUNGEON by renrok 2022-04-09T19:21:32Z

Loved having to balance between breaking pots, killing enemies, and falling through the pits when I bit off more than I could chew, rather than just shooting everything to clear. And absolutely beautiful art style! With sound effects on top of the visual polish, this could be even better, and it's already very solid. Very well done!

Hyper Kremlin Bros. II Tournament Edition by Samps 2022-04-05T21:18:08Z

Couldn't help but chuckle at the dark relevance to our current times. +1 Gameplay is intuitive and the art/UI is awesome. Love how chill the music is against the tension of the situation. Simple controls and great polish!

On Thin Ice by Nikl 2022-04-09T15:11:46Z

Good use of the theme and simple controls -- though the game isn't necessarily easy! I love the arbitrary use of cows. And, of course, appreciate the programmer art. Nice work!

JellyJam by potkirland 2022-04-07T23:14:33Z

Big fan of the aesthetic, and love the jelly's face! Enjoyed playing around with the jet stream mechanic a bit and trying to use it more carefully.

Get your trash off my lawn! by Chairshot Games 2022-04-09T21:24:25Z

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the trash colliding with each other -- made things far more interesting! Love the arcade-like sounds and the pixel art. Even when I finally lost, I still enjoyed watching everything fall in from the top. Fun game!

Five Knights in France by Pixelydian 2022-04-07T23:05:47Z

Love the premise. When the knight spotted me and music changed, my heart skipped a beat and gave me a good laugh! Love the pixel art and juice in the UI / interacting with objects.

Death Is Inevitable by TherealMoebius 2022-04-07T00:00:30Z

Damn that was menacing. Tensed up every time I turned a corner. Lasted about 500 seconds though before I died though!

Nuts and Volts by MeeseAgainstHumanity 2022-04-09T19:27:05Z

Love the pixel art, the music, and the sounds of attacks here. The light moving with the lasers and illuminating the ground / enemies it passes over was a very nice touch! I think a great improvement would be an indicator of impact when the player or enemies get hit aside from when they explode -- like a screen shake or the laser colliding and exploding. Well done!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Sure You Can! by sidewalksleeper 2018-04-30T16:47:43Z

Definitely a creative and humorous idea. Control scheme is simple but the execution and timing makes it difficult to master. Really good feel with the audio, humor, and art. Great work!

Toodee and Topdee by dietzribi 2018-04-23T20:41:06Z

There's a lot to like about this game. The art, sounds, and mood are cute, enjoyable and polished to fit its desired theme. The movement is smooth and the interface is simple. The levels are clever and the core mechanic of the game (the switching) even more so! The control scheme is also very easy to use. I'm really impressed with every aspect of this game. You guys knocked it out of the park -- fantastic job!

Leave Me by Eroder 2018-04-23T21:16:17Z

Great art and graphics. Really appreciate that the game explains its interface before the user actually starts playing! I felt that the ships were too difficult to destroy with just one tower, or perhaps having a small jump means you can only get time to shoot at a handful yourself before they collide with the planet? Regardless, the premise is solid and simple. Good work!

The Legend of Block by maesk 2018-05-02T19:23:59Z

The gameplay was clever. I had fun solving the levels' puzzles -- their complexity became apparent after I noticed I could use leftover blocks and had to be more strategic in destroy rows of grey ones. Not too difficult yet not too simple. Really enjoyed it!

The hole at the end of the universe by Greet 2018-04-26T16:02:54Z

Had some difficulty with registering mouse clicks at times, and holding the mouse would also cause the meter to reset sometimes. Still, the art is great, the mood is spot on, and the levels are very well designed. Great job on the drowning ball and player teleport animations as well. Solid work.

Tweet Fighter by iamtalin 2018-04-26T15:58:01Z

A game after my own heart! I also enjoy making silly characters, though only one of mine is a bird variant. Anyway, the game play here is simple yet offers great flexibility and options. The characters are humorous and differentiated with their stats. The artwork is superb and the music is chill. It was easy to dive in and figure out my strategy. Excellent job!

Angry Mush by Royoyo 2018-04-24T17:04:20Z

This game was awesome! It looked great, offered easy to understand controls and really fun play. The artwork is humorous and exceptional. The genre combination is really clever, too, and fits very nicely into the game, providing interesting choices as the waves build up and you have more options to deal with them. To all involved, a superb job!

Pivit by travm 2018-04-24T04:14:52Z

Sprite and particle mastery combined with easy controls and entertaining physics? I dig it. Your implementation is smooth and flexible. This game can scale easily as well. Excellent work! :)

Dodobrawl by RustyMonky 2018-04-23T21:47:41Z

Thanks for the feedback so far, everyone! @piscythe I really appreciate those suggestions. I was excited to get to animations for each card but sadly failed to do so. Given more time, I would love to implement that, as well as pre-constructed decks -- or at the very least, card ratios so that you wouldn't end up in the situation that you did (i.e., too many defensive options). I would also like to add in more fighters and make that selection more meaningful, rather than just aesthetic.

Dodobrawl by RustyMonky 2018-04-25T21:23:51Z

To save everyone's sanity, I managed to invest some time into investigating the left headphone bug. The sound's been fixed! Thanks to all those who rated the game so far while dealing with that bug!

The Secret Ingredient is Love by Miqui Gaud 2018-04-23T21:55:28Z

Aw this is cu ---- OMG WAIT NO AAAAH! Haha, what a hilariously unpredictable game. Every choice I made ended up with a more than amusing result. I was a tad confused on the controls but once I got that down, it was quite the trip. The game's art and audio are also superb. What a marvelous idea this was! Great job!

Platform Of Love by Scott Steffes 2018-04-23T20:58:20Z

Ha, the dialogue is hilarious! The artwork is great as well, and the death states are smooth (I also really liked "Distracted" and "Infected"). It was a tad confusing just diving in and figuring out the wall jumps for myself, though.

Overall, solid job and great creativity in your theme combination!

Maroon by juju 2018-04-24T16:53:29Z

The "cute-em-up" combination seems really unique to me, and the game is definitely cute. I also encountered the endlessly dying to ghosts bug, although I got a kick out of it. Good artwork and sound effects for the game. I'd suggest adding some looping music in the background. Good work!
