Holy cow! That was way more fun than I was expecting from a farming game. The difficulty was spot on for me, I was able to finish it but it felt frantic trying to manage attacking the boss, fending off enemies, and managing my crops all at the same time. Awesome work, love the look and feel.

firellon 2018-04-24 07:18

Cool game guys! Would you like to rate ours? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/lokorush

nidup 2018-04-24 07:33

Cool concept & innovative gameplay :mushroom: vs :carrot: Game mechanics are good, the artwork is lovely, everything is pretty well integrated, the entry is solid, good job

frulica 2018-04-24 13:13

Very well made, the game is smooth and engaging, and loved the graphics. Actually made to fit the theme as well :D

samitalien 2018-04-24 13:21

that was really cool, i got to experiment with all kinds of almmo, splitting my attention between the fight and the collecting of ammo was a really good idea that fits the theme nicely :) i think the player shoud run out of ammo more often to completly exploit the mechanic, but overall it sreally good

ccglp 2018-04-24 14:20

I like it, was funny when I saw the relationship between the two mechanics (ammo). Makes you more involved with "reloading" the gun. With more bullet variation and some tweaks on rythim this could be a great game. Keep working :)

royoyo 2018-04-24 14:32

Thank you, guys! :)

bitten-toast-games 2018-04-24 14:57

I really love this game! Probably the best game I've played all day. The farming aspect can take a lot of attention but I started leaving just 1 enemy alive at the end and farmed up enough bullets for the next round. Love that the plants are like your hp. Love the boss battle. Honestly a really damn good game. Hope you keep working on it.

If you have a sec and want to take a look at ours I'd really appreciate it. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/shipwrecked-on-robot-island

well, that's the first game i realy liked this time. idea and realization are on good level both

diblow 2018-04-24 16:50

Really nice Game ! I feel like you should have make it a 2D only game, because the 2D sprites are really nice looking but the 3D.. not really :p It was fun to play, the only thing I didn't understand for a long time was that I needed to actually get hit to be able to grow something else. That's a a bit weird.

Congratz anyway :)

rustymonky 2018-04-24 17:04

This game was awesome! It looked great, offered easy to understand controls and really fun play. The artwork is humorous and exceptional. The genre combination is really clever, too, and fits very nicely into the game, providing interesting choices as the waves build up and you have more options to deal with them. To all involved, a superb job!

synthphonia 2018-04-24 17:17

I love this game! So complete and innovative!

wojciech-bruski 2018-04-24 17:24

I love the idea of this one! Very good game!

corbak 2018-04-24 17:42

Lovely gameplay you have here and nice art style. It mixes well and well the 3D elements combined with the 2D elements gives a nice little touch. Well done

sprngr 2018-04-24 18:09

Awesome gameplay and mashup of the two genres. I really liked how you not only had to manage your active ammo type but plant and harvest it to get more, really outside sort of thinking when it comes to combining farming with shooter. Great job!

raiyumi 2018-04-24 19:59

I really like the 3D/2D mashup.. also the grow mechanic sort've reminded me of plants v. zombies. Solid entry. :)

Nice animations and Arts! How much were you for the graphics part?

axe 2018-04-25 08:24

this has got to be the grooviest example of this mashup ive seen so far very well done!

if it was up to me i would have the plans growing automatically for game flow .

apart from that maybe some extra work on the sound. great job!!

natalie-sodomkova 2018-04-25 08:56

Cool game!Really like the graphics part and animation.

royoyo 2018-04-25 09:04

Thanks!

@jimuteno, one 2d-artist and one 2d-artist-animator, plus one 3d-artist.

Everyone gathered for gamejam, and no one worked with one another before :)

arzi 2018-04-25 12:48

That was a lot of fun!

I really like how the two genres blended together, playing was fun and never frustrating and there was enough variety for such a small game.

Selecting weapons was a bit difficult at times, maybe add keyboard shortcuts for them?

Also, was it just me or was the tomato (?) shotgun a bit OP?

royoyo 2018-04-25 13:52

@arzi, thanks for feedback!

There are shortcuts for weapons: '1' - '5' keys.

Yes, you can kill the boss faster with shotgun, but I guess onion rifle is better for pack of mobs :)

sndr 2018-04-26 13:17

Whoa, super polished entry! :) I'm so bad at it but I had fun anyway. The aesthetics are really cool, love the environment and the blend between flat 3D and cartoon :) Also, the animations add a lot of dynamism to the whole experience.

travm 2018-04-26 16:21

I really enjoyed this one! Gameplay was a lot of fun and the visuals were really nice. I'd love to see a version where the trees and fences were also done in the same art style as the characters. I think that would blend a lot better. Great work!

niker107 2018-04-26 22:00

Having to look away from the fight to collect ammunition is a simple, yet surprisingly great gameplay concept. I quite enjoyed the game, and thought it was very polished for usual competition standards! The cartoony art in particular is very nice, but I like the jolly music. Perhaps the game was only lacking a bit in sound effects, and also a few hints on screen at the start like noting that the plants are your health (I realize that's stated in the tutorial at the start, but I forgot about that because I didn't get hurt for the first few minutes and I didn't know how to plant new plants!) Also the boss at the end was quite a surprise, and I nearly died a few times.

n-feofentov 2018-04-27 11:50

Очень круто! Мне нравится идея выращивать себе патроны) В рамках джема - все превосходно. Жду, когда сделаете из него шутер-рогалик)

superpokeunicorn 2018-04-28 07:39

This game is pretty fun. I like how you use the gardening mini game as a replacement for the standard reload mechanic. There's also a great amount of weapon variety on top of that. It would be nice to be able to use the scroll wheal to swap weapons since you have to take your fingers off of WASD to access the arrow keys. I also really like the art style and audio, it was very charming. Overall, excellent entry. Good job!

wevel 2018-04-28 18:14

Very fun game, a really effective art style. I like that you sometimes have to take damage, just so you can plant different plants for better ammo.

gamebuilder 2018-04-29 21:13

Cool beanz!

samurai-ducks 2018-04-30 09:48

This was way more engaging than I expected! I'm really digging the artstyle and the music really adds to the experience. I feel like the plant growing area was a bit cluttered and could be simplified artwise and the game would really benefit from some sound effects. Overall the game looks and handles great! Awesome job!

mak3c 2018-05-01 07:42

Wow this definetly was something new. I've played it all the way through. What I really loved was that you could grow your own ammo. Perhaps what I missed was the ability to replace crops, so when you can afford to have strong ones you can replace the weak starting ones. It'd be awesome if you managed to get the boss moving as well :D I think that this would make a fine game, like the Plants vs Zombies.

2018-05-06 16:20

Growing your own ammo was quite good. Though frustrating when you ran out. Overall quite good.

cristiano-m-garcia 2018-05-07 03:18

Good job! Cool game!

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.
