Great game! It was a cool combination of gimmicks. The only two things that bother me are the jumping being finicky and the music only being in my left ear

"Will you MENAGE to re-power everything?" typo btw

2022-04-03 19:15

I really liked this ! There's a bug where when you put 2 energy blocks in 1 gate the level with 2 gates can be bypassed

mistafixxa069 2022-04-04 01:06

I LOVED IT! It had great animations, a semi-unique game loop and really good level design! The only complaints I would give tho is that the robot just gets stuck sometimes on the edges of the platforms... Overall, still a great game! Hope to see this reiterated!

lawrence 2022-04-04 16:49

This was a fun puzzle platformer. Although I must confess, that I completed it by pushing two electricity blocks in a single socket

The handling was a slow and sometimes got stuck on corners, but did not ruin the experience since it was mostly about solving puzzles.

Good job!

sagiii 2022-04-05 21:08

Hello! The game is pretty cool. I felt great being a robot and collecting some energy. The game is chill and there is something to do with that mood.

steffo 2022-04-05 21:12

Definitely fun!

Could've used a way to speed up retries :P

Something is weird with the audio: music only plays in the left audio channel...

marcenat 2022-04-05 21:22

Finally a puzzle game with this theme ^^ It's quite clever and well made. Graphics and audio are nice, the sound effect are really cool. I think the biggest improvement would be to have tutorial levels for the mecanics, and speed up the movement. By the way is you robot inspired by gmtk ?

phoenix-fireflower 2022-04-05 21:44

@marcenat Yes, the robot was inspired by Mark Brown's robot character in his magnet game. I wanted a character that wasn't too difficult to animate and I thought a one-wheeled robot would do the job well.

the-great-gallus 2022-04-06 08:51

Very enjoyable game!

Graphics were solid and the robot was adorable, especially the animation it has when you finish a level. The music was catchy and I quite appreciated that you had the tempo as the generators were powered up/down.

You got a lot of distance out of very few mechanics, which is always cool to see. Great job on introducing the mechanics along the way, like, how the trapped block in level 2 is set up to basically force a swap teleport to show the player that it is possible. Good stuff.

There were some really nice touches with your design, like the changing shape of the cursor and sound effect when it changes to the swap teleport or the wires in the walls showing where the effects of the deactivating triggers go.

My only criticisms on the design were 1) that the generator inside the non-teleport zone on level 4 wasn't immediately obvious to me that it was part of the non-teleport zone, so I had to just reset the level when I tried dropping down and swapping with the bottom block, and 2) using the same symbol for shutting off lasers and deactivating the non-teleport zone makes it not as obvious what that trigger does (though the wires to the effect destination help a lot with working out what it might)

As a note, it took me a while to realize there was a jump button (it wasn't until level 4's non-teleport zone), because I ended up using an exploit without realizing it to finish level 3. If you click to teleport, then quickly drag your mouse cursor to another position before the teleport occurs, the robot will teleport to the new position. I thought it was just an odd teleport position when trying to repeatedly teleport up (I was doing it at the start of level 3 as I wasn't jumping), but I did some testing and verified what was happening. You can even teleport into non-teleport zones with it.

Also, was a bit silly that teleporting onto a battery on your last teleport both recharges your battery and kills you. Not really a big deal in the end and it did make me chuckle when it happened the first time.

Hope to see further iteration on this in the future. Would be cool to see what else you can come up with puzzle-wise! Thanks for the fun game!

wetburritosupreme 2022-04-06 17:28

Great teleporting feel, audio and music was nicely dynamic and felt reactive. Great job!

mopifish 2022-04-06 18:30

Yay! I haven't seen a puzzle platformer yet, I was looking forward to one! I enjoy the teleportation mechanic, but the puzzle design didn't quite use it to it's fullest potential. Good entry overall though, and would be interesting to see this developed further :)

golahirom 2022-04-06 20:50

Cool game! I realy like the "swap" mechanic! It was however very unlear that there was a jump (binding that to the Space button aswell might make it more clear). Otherwise cool and unique idea!

paroxysmal 2022-04-06 21:30

Nice use of the theme and great little puzzle game.

roryh 2022-04-06 21:43

Very fun, absolutely loved it! Great physics in this, lots of potential in this platforming engine. Excellent level design teaches the important mechanics gradually. And a good difficulty pacing, major kudos for getting that right for a game jam! Cute characters, animations and fitting graphics. Only real gripe I had was that the character movement was a bit slow.

edit: also, neat detail that you could jump half height with a crate on your head. pity none of the level design had a use for this!

googlypoo 2022-04-06 22:01

Lots of good things to say about this one: - The music changing as you plug the batteries back in was a nice touch. - Solid animation works, feels very polished for a 2 day game! - Great puzzles :) The later levels were appropriately challenging. - I haven't seen a puzzle game teleportation mechanics quite like this, plus points for innovation.

Only issues is that sometimes it was hard to get the 'swap' prompt to show up. I'd end up teleporting right to a battery that I wanted to swap with. I couldn't divine the specific logic; at first I thought I couldn't do it while I was in motion, but I got that to work. Was a little finnicky.

vaincil 2022-04-06 22:13

Congrats for building a coherent and nicely progressive set of levels! I really liked the concept and the nice touches like the robot’s animations and the pitch of the music becoming higher as power gets back on.

sdelay 2022-04-07 14:56

This is a so polished game for a compo! Graphics + audio + mechanic, pone of my favorite game of the jam! I really enjoyed it (especially level 6)

lilianc 2022-04-07 21:36

That's pretty impressive ! The mechanics are well introduced and easy to understand, the feeling of the teleportation is great, all in all this leaves me wanting more, I can totally see myself playing this for quite a few more levels :D Just one thing, is it on purpose that the switch on the bottom of the last level is totally unecessary ? You can just use the inertia to push a box withing the laser range

raphiell 2022-04-08 00:28

Really solid puzzle game that was a lot of fun. It was cool to learn more tricks about how teleportation works as you go along. I can't believe this was a compo entry!

hcs-hades 2022-04-08 05:24

Great little puzzler with a cute personality. Made me think more then once, level design was great.

vidarn 2022-04-08 19:25

Great puzzle game, well designed in every regard. I like how much you got out of the teleportation mechanic. I also liked the graphics and presentation of the game, it was very well polished. The ending was quite funny as well

antonsem 2022-04-08 19:50

Very nice puzzle mechanics! My only complain is the movement. I wish it was a bit more snappy :)

@phoenix-fireflower I really hope you read this, because I also use Godot engine and I can help you fix at least one thing I've seen others mention. For my review, this game is amazing, I love the little character, and the first time I managed to get myself killed I was a little sad because he's so cute!

As for bugfixes, the sound thing is really simple, and here's a (long-ish) explanation as to why it was "broken" in the first place. The audio only plays out of the left side. I looked at the source code, in your Bgm.tscn file, you have an AudioStreamPlayer2D node, which defaults to have a position of 0,0 (top left of the game). So, the audio plays from that "direction", which in 2D is the left side of the game itself, so people will hear it out of only the left speaker or side of headphones. So, if you move the node to the middle of your screen, then it SHOULD play out of both sides as intended. The same with any sound effects you use, they are directional, so if you WANT something to play out of the left or right side only, you can. Otherwise, if you move them to the middle, they play in both sides. To be honest, I only figured this out in Ludum Dare 48 when I had the same issue with my music only playing on the left.

The only other things I noticed were that if you spam jump REALLY fast, you can manage to get a TRIPLE jump (pretty sure it has something to do with your coyote time, but I didn't look into it too far)

A small typo, on the game over screen, you have an "F" in "Fenerators" instead of "Generators"

With all that being said, I really enjoyed this game and I would love to see a post jam version of this!

jovialknoll 2022-04-09 01:55

Your art was very charming, somehow the style reminded me of (a much better, and higher res version of) old edutainment classics like math blaster.

Mechanics started to feel too simple, but then I realized I would be expected to use teleportation to move boxes, which made the puzzles interesting enough.

eli-delventhal 2022-04-09 05:53

Good job, it kept me going for awhile even though I'm someone who doesn't really like puzzle games. The teleport mechanic was well executed and some of the puzzles were pretty good brain-busters! There were some bugs that others have mentioned and I think the pacing wasn't perfect, but it's a really solid entry.

belle 2022-04-09 07:21

What a robolicious puzzle game! I love the art and the music is amazing at setting a cozy mood, it's just solid, very well done through and through. Great sound for the teleportation too, which is important when it's something you'll hear a lot, and you aced it! It was great to see how happy the little robot got every time you completed a level.

Oh and one last thing, you really aced the pacing of the difficulty, it got gradually harder in the perfect way, kept being challenging and engaging while you kept getting better.

phoenix-fireflower 2022-04-09 10:06

@rubixnoob13 Thanks for helping a fellow Godot user out :)

hmightypirate 2022-04-09 20:17

I really like puzzle games and yours its fantastic! I will come back to this game to try to finish it. Well done!.

the-nacho 2022-04-10 00:44

This is great! I had a lot of fun playing it. The teleportation mechanic is pretty clever. The level design is also top-notch, with stuff placed to teach you things without having to say them explicitly with text.

The only criticism I have is that the theme connection seemed a little shaky. But overall great work! I could totally see this being expanded into a full commercial game.

reeceyboi 2022-04-10 00:51

Wow that was pretty cool, Managed to beat the last level after about 5 tries haha! There was something really funky about the audio, some weird sound coming only from the left headphone. A bit annoying at first but I got used to it. And the audio itself was pretty good, I like it. I noticed all of the blocks stopping you from pushing the blocks too far off of edges, really cool solution to a problem like that in a jam, I thought it was pretty smart even! But yeah, if you were to make the blocks plummet after falling off edges then they could've had a heavier 'feel' to them. Liked the length of it too, that last level was enough of a headscratcher for what the game is, and didn't show up come up too quickly either.

Nice stuff, really cool 👌

itskdog 2022-04-10 01:02

I liked the teleport mechanism for your puzzle game. The art style was good.

jackaljk 2022-04-10 11:09

Did you think this game up for the teleportation theme? :P Delaying the inevitable is not what it could bem but you've put together quite interesting mechanics, loved it. Moving around feels somewhat unpolished and finicky but the game looks good. Nice job!

elede 2022-04-10 15:59

I want more levels! Very good puzzle design. Fantastic game, congrats!

bearding8 2022-04-10 19:57

Great game! Nice graphics, gameplay, sounds and music. Nothing to add! Thanks for the game!

nyxkn 2022-04-15 11:12

Really cute game! Art is beautiful and the music fits really well. The teleport swap would sometimes not work and that felt a little frustrating. Otherwise really well made game.
