LD50 — Delay the inevitable

THE BLOODGEON by chaoclypse 2022-04-05T09:54:58Z

Yo that was really cool! Love the vibe and pace, and even if the ending as a little anti-climactic it was still really interesting and made me weirdly excited. Enemy variety was great too! Really brought the jam's theme into the gameplay, not just a concept in the background.

Took me a second to understand if my clicks drained the blood and it wasn't until a couple of deaths that I realized that the chromatic effect also indicated my blood level, not just the syringe. Also I couldn't tell what charisma did, although I really like the thought that a game like this could/would have a charisma. Loved this 💖

THE FIVE KINGS by pymiro 2022-04-05T10:08:42Z

Wooow that was really cool! I don't care if the gameplay was super minimal, the vibe was amazing! I was so excited for something cool to happen, everything from the title and thumbnail to the ending had me hooked. Very ominous and foreboding.

I don't want to critique it much because for art style, which seems to be what you were going for, you did a flawless job, but... it took me a second to understand that the pickups were binding & stopping the kings, and only in understanding that did I understand they were chains. Also some effect when the chains appear & get picked up could've gone a long way.

Loved it 💖

Wow that was pretty cool, Managed to beat the last level after about 5 tries haha! There was something really funky about the audio, some weird sound coming only from the left headphone. A bit annoying at first but I got used to it. And the audio itself was pretty good, I like it. I noticed all of the blocks stopping you from pushing the blocks too far off of edges, really cool solution to a problem like that in a jam, I thought it was pretty smart even! But yeah, if you were to make the blocks plummet after falling off edges then they could've had a heavier 'feel' to them. Liked the length of it too, that last level was enough of a headscratcher for what the game is, and didn't show up come up too quickly either.

Nice stuff, really cool 👌

That was reeeaaally cool! I got to my protege to 73, and I kept getting surprised by how much stuff you put in this game!

I never got much metal to really bother to use metal barriers, the times I accidentally clicked on it instead of wooden barriers used it up enough. But the idea here is really cool and you actually managed to pull it off and use the theme really well!

I couldn't tell if I was right near the 'end' or if the world just stopped spawning, but there was this white wall not far off screen once the game ended. I was surprised by how easy it was until I saw the dude at the end and noticed that he had slowed down, which is lucky cause I was just starting to think of leaving. I'm assume they got slower and slower as the game went on, but you must have balanced that really well for it the game to end right when I was wandering if this game has an end!

This was pretty really fun 💖

That was pretty cool, I'm surprised how interested I was by a digital card game haha! On my first attempt I was playing cards randomly, thinking when the next phase starts I'll be able to understand how to play, but as soon as the build phase ended so did the game 😱. Was only then that I read the instructions and won normal mode first try, I tried hard mode four times and got pretty close but couldn't quite do it. Again, really interesting system here. Not being able to drag cards makes things slower, and sometimes the clicks didn't seem to go through, maybe they registered twice? Not sure. But it's a game jam so that's a bit whatevers. Cool game 👍

Necropocalypse by ZiggDev 2022-04-05T10:29:03Z

That was really interesting to make something complex but thematically cohesive and interesting for a jam!

Took me a little second to realize how the lich worked and that he wasn't just another trap, and what the scout did (really cool idea too haha!). After that it took some tries to figure out how to kill anything, had to go back to the itch page and read that the numbers 1, 2 and 3 activated traps. Wasn't able to get anywhere with just skeletons, so traps seemed like the way to go.

Really cool idea! a little bit of instructions on the title page could've gone a long way, but that's fine. Really liked the art, especially the hats on some of the skeletons too 💀🎩

Gerald by MichaelL 2022-04-10T01:41:06Z

This was really cool! I haven't seen a game try to do a super serious take on the theme yet, which is surprising given that it's a rather existential theme. Love the name Gerald, and how slow he is because he's old, and how that works with the pacing/timer in the game really well anyway.

There's lots of improvement that could be made but that's mostly just polish stuff that doesn't need to be in a jam anyway. There was only two things that got in my way and annoyed me: (1) z & enter were supposed to do the same thing, but there was at least one spot where enter didn't work but z did, and that made me want to press both on everything. (2) At the start of the game the timer was already going down while I was trying to read and still making sense of what's going on, made me feel really rushed to read through it but I also wanted to make sure I got everything so I'd be able to keep playing properly without missing anything.

Cool game anyways, RIP Gerald :(

RUNOUT by RobLaro 2022-04-06T10:55:24Z

wow that's really interesting, very intuitive for what it is! I got to 147m. Quick deaths and restart makes it easy to keep going and trying and iterating and building. I Really liked this!

If the player's death and start animations skipped or sped up when you hit a couple of buttons it could make it that much more addictive to just constantly jump into runs after runs. Those animation are really interesting and breath a lot of life into the game, don't get me wrong, but after the second or third run it's just extra time I don't want to wait.

CardDom by Essojadojef 2022-04-10T01:52:28Z

yo that's so cool that you could get all this working in a game jam! I really liked it, some cool ideas and situations going on. I got up to 26 on my first try! It took a little second to get that the game was running while I had to make decisions, but not very long. It did bug me a little however, wasn't able to watch the game running above while I was trying to read and then decipher which stats the decision would effect, and then wager the decision, all under time pressure. I thought that the bars for red and purple were their kingdom's health and that I'd be able to destroy them, not the other way around. I only realized this when I did with purple at nearly empty, but with a relentless stream of purple knights attacking me lol.

But yeah, really cool game, solid concept and interesting situations. Cool stuff 👌🏰

Wow that was actually kinda funny, I totally forgot about the theme for the jam until I got to the top haha!

I'm not super huge about parkour kinda games or platformers in general, but I managed to get to the top first try. I even stuffed up a couple of times but caught it and fixed my mistake, felt real hard, you made it really balanced and feel good.

There was something about this one deeper sound effect, I think it was the played at the end of the sfx when you land on something. It felt delayed and weird, still not sure what exactly it what. It's pretty faint though so definitely not a big deal.

Really liked the aesthetic too, could've been nice to see the text at the top be rainbow somehow as well. Cool game yo 👌

Task Manager by ThePockle 2022-04-06T11:25:21Z

It feels like there's something cool here that I'm interested by, but it's hidden behind how hard the game is to understand. I managed to get through the first three tasks, but can't figure out any others.

I took my a while to understand how to play, I thought the list might have been the game and I had to click on it, then I thought it was just always on top of the screen and I had to play the game behind it, and then I actually read the description on the itch page and understood to press tab.

The art here is really cool though, I think with an iteration or two this could be an interesting piece! Just need to work on getting people to understand the game without telling them directly, something I'm not good at either tbh. Hopefully this description of how I understood it helps!
