this is an interesting game. i made it just past 300. it seems i cant get past my dead bodies every where i leave them. i tried spiral patterns i tried ladder patterns, but its always around 300 i get rekt. it would be interesting to have random places out there like islands to shoot for, or have some saftey at. like maybe a power up that blows up your dead bodys in a 50m radius

The idea is fun and graphics is really good. I wish the game had more a goal. Overall a good compo game. Well done.

gummibot 2022-04-04 20:28

Good compo, running in simply fun, but I wish you had more to do, or some world elements that could boost you or you could interact with. Great concept overall

gnome4 2022-04-05 00:19

It's an interesting concept for sure. I like how you build paths to get farther and farther.

Cool game, I really like the core mechanic. It's a satisfying game to play

mnikn 2022-04-05 07:43

Simple but genius idea, I enjoy playing it, it's a little hard but fun to play

This is a really fresh idea executed very neat. Needs controller, not that much fun on keyboard. I particularly like the detail how the character is being born from the well. Solid compo

Fun little game. I dont know if there is a way to lose and some kind of goal would make it more engaging but a fun idea I believe have evolution potential

gdesecrate 2022-04-05 22:04

After pressing "Run Game" the screen is blank :(

roblaro 2022-04-05 22:24

@gdesecrate Oh no! I'm not really sure why it would be doing that, I think there is a delay after pressing 'Run Game' when it's loading all the assets. Did you wait long?

furtive-pygmy 2022-04-05 22:37

Awesome game, gets pretty difficult early on which makes it interesting. Great concept and execution. A few sound effects or music would have added a lot of punch to the gameplay loop I think. Great entry and good luck.

This was a very interesting and new game! How did you come up with this? It is really cool how you craft the level yourself as you go along. At some point there were so many mistakes at the very beginning that I just decided to make a new track in another direction. Really cool!

It took some time for me to understand what the game was about. I started to just walk in a random direction and suddenly died without really knowing why, but thinking that I failed somehow. Of course, I did not fail and just paved the wat for next runs to get farther. Some kind of tutorial for this would have been nice :) (Maybe on the itch page?) Although I can also understand it if you want it to be up to the player to figure out what to do :)

I had a lot of fun with this! Great submission!

wow that's really interesting, very intuitive for what it is! I got to 147m. Quick deaths and restart makes it easy to keep going and trying and iterating and building. I Really liked this!

If the player's death and start animations skipped or sped up when you hit a couple of buttons it could make it that much more addictive to just constantly jump into runs after runs. Those animation are really interesting and breath a lot of life into the game, don't get me wrong, but after the second or third run it's just extra time I don't want to wait.

Intersting concept, nice polished. Got only about 200m, very good entry for just weekend game. You just needed some sounds and it wuld be great

papaya 2022-04-06 14:25

Fun concept and gameplay. Didn't think too much about my dead bodies and it screwed me over later haha. I also feel that the animation and the overall feel of the game is very polished. Well done.

stenblood 2022-04-06 18:32

I made it 250 metres, this really does change genres to bullet hell later in.

generalsturgeon 2022-04-07 18:02

Lovely concept! Had a couple of nice little runs! Would be cool to add boosters and obstacles as you get further. Great job!

arend-hintze 2022-04-08 07:41

neat game! Cheers Arend

This is a really interesting and unique concept! The boosting feature worked very well and it felt very polished! I feel like the mechanic would lend itself well to some level based gameplay with obstacles and you have to try and find the best way round them, or something to collect in the open world. Overall, the gameplay felt well polished and I enjoyed playing!

amolker 2022-04-08 20:58

Interesting and original concept, realy like minimalistic graphics here. Realy good game, nice job! I think this doesn't really fit the topic because it doesn't really seem like an inevitable thing, just stay where you are and you will never die. Perhaps if there was an ending timer, and eating points would extend it or update it - it would fit better. But it doesn't really matter, just what I was thinking during the brainstorm.

itzemii 2022-04-10 19:21

Fantastic concept! Very unique! I really enjoyed playing it! And it fits very well the jam theme! Congratulations! P.S.: I think the mechanic has a lot of potential!

sodoj 2022-04-11 07:22

Great little idea, I can see this being a minigame in a Mario game or something similar. I also loved how the little guys curled up in a ball when they died.

A good effort, especially for a compo game. You should give this game some more love after the jam, I really feel it could be something really fun with a bit more substance!

i really want to push for 1000 and even more. damn what a concept really genius idea! i feel like i am creating the obstacles for my future perfect run myself! it is great wish i played this earlier and had it on scorechasers tourney! so original and skillfully done!

theo-clarke 2022-04-20 13:23

Really cool little mechanic, would be nice to see it game-ified more e.g use it to solve puzzles!
